The Beast Unleashed: Understanding the Chimera

  • At first glance, the Chimera might seem like any other boss fight, but don’t be fooled by appearances. To even attempt battling it, you must reach Level 33 and join a clan — this isn’t a solo endeavor. Once unlocked, you can find the Chimera on the Clan Bosses Map under the “Clan Bosses” game mode.
  • But here’s where things get interesting! Unlike traditional fights, this one revolves around survival and endurance. You’ll take five champions into battle and face off against the Chimera over exactly 65 turns, during which it will cycle through its four forms multiple times.
  • The Chimera has an Ultimate Form (the most powerful state) and three animal-inspired forms: Ram, Lion, and Viper. Each form brings unique abilities tied to its namesake creature. The Ram locks horns with specific champions, pinning them down; the Lion shreds through defenses with relentless aggression; and the Viper inflicts poison, slowly wearing away at your team’s health.
  • These transformations occur every five turns, following a predictable sequence: U → R → U → L → U → V → U, repeating twice before ending back in the Ultimate Form. Knowing when and how these shifts happen is crucial to surviving long enough to deal significant damage.

Ram Form: Duel

  • The Ram Form introduces the “Duel” mechanic, which fundamentally alters the dynamics of combat. When the Chimera activates Duel, it locks onto a single target among your champions, creating a direct confrontation between itself and the chosen champion. During this time, the targeted champion becomes the sole focus of the Chimera’s attacks, while their teammates are penalized with reduced damage output against other enemies. Meanwhile, the Chimera gains a massive 50% damage boost against the dueling champion.
  • To break free from the Duel, your team must whittle down the Chimera’s Duel bar, which equals 1% of its maximum HP. Once depleted, the effect dissipates, freeing both the target and the rest of your team from its restrictions. However, if either the Chimera or the targeted champion dies during the Duel, the effect ends immediately. Notably, Duel takes precedence over buffs like Taunt or Veil, ensuring that the Chimera remains laser-focused on its prey regardless of protective measures.
  • The Ram doesn’t pick its Duel target at random. It automatically locks onto the champion with the lowest Critical Damage on your team. Since the Ram has the highest Accuracy out of all Chimera forms (Lion, Viper, and Ultimate), you’ll want your highest Resistance champion to also have the lowest Critical Damage. This makes it much harder for the Ram to strip their buffs during the Duel. Keep in mind that every successful buff removal increases the Ram’s damage against that champion, so preventing those strips is crucial to surviving the fight.

Lion Form: Hunter’s Gaze

  • When the Chimera shifts into Lion Form, it does not target at random. It marks the champion with the highest Defense stats with Hunter’s Gaze, immediately putting your toughest defender in the spotlight.
  • Hunter’s Gaze makes most defensive tools useless. Shields, Strengthen, Ally Protection, Veil, Perfect Veil, Unkillable, Block Damage, and even increased Defense stats will not reduce the incoming damage. Any skill-based attack from the Chimera lands directly on the marked target without interference. Evasion is still possible, but if the hit connects, it hits full force.
  • Because of this, raw survivability matters more than layered protection. Build that targeted champion with high HP to survive the initial impact. Counterattack paired with Life Drinker helps them heal immediately after taking damage, while the Golden Elixir relic provides emergency recovery when HP drops below 50%. Continuous Heal buffs add steady sustain on their turn, and having a dedicated healer ready ensures they can stabilize quickly.

Viper Form: Necrosis

  • Perhaps the most insidious of all, the Viper Form introduces “Necrosis,” a stacking debuff triggered whenever an enemy champion falls in battle. With each death, all surviving enemies receive a Necrosis stack, dealing damage equal to 5% of their maximum HP at the start of their turn. For example, three stacks would result in 15% of their max HP being drained per turn — a punishing toll that compounds rapidly as the battlefield shrinks.
  • Necrosis cannot be resisted, blocked, or removed by conventional means. However, reviving fallen allies reduces the number of active stacks proportionally. Additionally, applying a Stone Skin buff temporarily removes Necrosis, though it returns once the buff expires. Managing this mechanic requires careful attention to revive timing and buff application, as allowing Necrosis to spiral out of control can quickly lead to catastrophic losses.

Chimera Rotation & Weekly Cycles

  • One of the Chimera’s defining features is its dynamic nature. Every month, the affinities of its forms rotate, keeping players on their toes. During each rotation (which lasts 28 days), the Ram, Lion, and Viper share the same affinity, while the Ultimate Form adopts a different one.
  • This means your team composition and strategies must adapt accordingly. For instance, if the current rotation of Chimera clan boss is Force affinity, utilizing Spirit affinity champions could give you an edge.
  • On top of monthly rotations, there’s also a weekly reset period between Thursday and Friday UTC, during which the Chimera becomes unavailable. After the reset, all players receive two Chimera Keys, allowing them to participate in battles for rewards.
  • It’s worth noting that these keys are precious resources (you only get two per week) so use them wisely. Experimentation is key here. Use the “Free Regroup” option during practice runs to test new team builds without wasting a key.

Trials and Tribulations: Maximizing Your Rewards

Chimera Trial Overview

  • Each battle against the Chimera offers more than just raw damage output — it presents opportunities to complete in-battle Trials. These mini-objectives vary by difficulty level (Easy, Normal, Hard) and are unique to each form.
  • Completing Trials not only grants additional rewards but also powers up the Chimera’s Ultimate Form, making it progressively harder to defeat. Yes, you heard that right — the better you perform, the tougher the challenge gets!
  • But fear not, brave warrior. The rewards make the effort worthwhile. Successfully completing Trials earns immediate bonuses, including crafting materials for Relics such as Circular Gemstones, Starstones, and Basalt. And remember, timing matters.
  • To maximize Clash Points (a critical metric in the Chimera Clash event) you’ll want to complete Trials quickly, as their multipliers only apply to damage dealt afterward.

Climbing the Difficulty Ladder: From Easy to Ultra-Nightmare

  • As your clan collectively deals damage to the Chimera, you’ll unlock higher difficulties, starting from Easy and progressing all the way to Ultra-Nightmare. Here’s the kicker: once a new difficulty is unlocked, it stays open permanently for your clan.
  • This progression system encourages teamwork, as every member contributes to wearing down the Chimera’s HP pool. The more damage you personally deal, the better the rewards you’ll earn at the end of the week in the form of Chimera Chests.
  • These chests are packed with valuable goodies, including Clan Gold, Clan XP, and rare Ocular Masses used to craft high-tier Relics. Naturally, the harder the difficulty, the juicier the loot. So push yourself and your clanmates to aim for the highest tier possible. Remember, this is a collective effort — every hit counts.

Chimera Clash: Compete, Dominate, Triumph

  • If standard battles sound too tame, prepare for the adrenaline-pumping Chimera Clash. In this weekly competition, five clans go head-to-head to see who can deal the most damage to the Chimera. Participation requires meeting certain criteria: your clan needs at least 10 eligible players, and they must have earned 50 Clan Activity Stars in the preceding week. Players who meet these requirements can earn Clash Points by dealing damage and completing Trials, contributing to their clan’s overall score.
  • Finishing in the top three positions unlocks exclusive rewards, including Pentagonal Gemstones, Basalt, and other premium items. Even if your clan doesn’t place, individuals can still earn Milestone Rewards based on their personal performance across multiple clashes. Keep an eye on the leaderboard — it updates every 30 seconds, so you’ll always know where you stand.

Pro Tips for Victory

To truly master the Chimera, keep these tips in mind:

  1. Adaptability is Key: With monthly affinity rotations and shifting forms, flexibility in your team setup is essential.
  2. Focus on Trials Early: Completing Trials early boosts your multiplier, helping you rack up Clash Points faster.
  3. Practice Makes Perfect: Use the Free Regroup feature liberally to refine your strategy without burning keys.
  4. Coordinate with Your Clan: Communication is vital. Share insights, optimize roles, and ensure everyone contributes effectively.

So how do we find out what rotation this is on?

For Ram form i never found if there is maximum number of repeated attacks but HH says its repeated infinite times so i wanted to abuse that with help of Geomancers passive and made boss do insane damage to self but its not working – after 10th repeated attack Ram will stop attacking. Confirmed for Easy, Normal and Hard.

Duel target was Stout Axeman because of his passive. Math is simple: Curing Set, Golden Elixir Relic and healing masteries will made surviving hundreds of hits even to easy. Shield on Duel target was enough survive 1st Ram’s A3, on second use of Ram’s A3 boss was under Geomancers hp burn but all ended after 10th strike 🙁

@Sean Robert Zemple: Use champions can deal damage based on Enemy MAX HP such as Gnut and Marius the Gallant or based on shield growth such as Titus Blackplume. HP and Defense champions are your go-to for damage nuker who can sustain the boss attacks.

Ram For Trials #1 Hard should be “Fully deplete the Chimera’s Duel bar within 5 turns.”

@UnrealSkills if a trial says it doesn’t count damage based on max hp, then, no, including Coldheart’s A3, Royal Guard’s A2, Gnut’s A3, poisons, HP burns, smites etc.

Someone said Warmaster dont count for trial damage, is this true?
