Warden works very well Early game also.
I started a secondary F2P account last week and was lucky enough to pull Warden on my first ancient shard pull. A really great guy to have from the beginning–in Arena, Campaign, and Fire Knight especially, but also in all the dungeons but Magic. He’s flexible to gear and has 2 decent AoE attacks, with all kinds of buffs, and is great out of the box without books or masteries.
@Bruce, yes it does
Does his reflect damage work good on Fire Knight? Does it work like Fellhounds?
Chen, unless you are far advanced in the game with plenty of epic and maybe even some legendary Dark Elf champs — do not use Warden for food!
here’s my personal example [i’ve been playing for 4 months now]: Warden was the 2nd or 3rd epic that i found in the game (Rowan was the first and 2nd or 3rd was Lady Etessa; they have both turned out to be useless) and he helped me in a lot of areas. i used Warden in dungeons, cb, arena, he was the team’s main defensive support. his A3 and A2 are very helpful, especially the reflect damage in for example arena (great against those multi-hit glass cannons!). in fact, Warden is so far still the only epic Dark Elf champ i have found BUT with 36 stars the Dark Elf Crypt is where i have advanced the farthest in faction wars. this is of course also thanks to the great Dark Elf rares (kudos to Kael, Spirithost and my 2 Coldhearts!) but Warden has most certainly played a crucial role here.
but slowly i have stopped using Warden in most areas of the game (except faction wars) and the reason is simply his main weakness: Warden takes too many books!! 19 epic skill tomes is just too much and i’m glad i realised that early on. i actually pulled my second Warden today from a blue shard and used it to skill up the lvl50 one that’s been serving me well.
so my advice would be: do not book Warden unless you are a whale swimming in epic tomes; but do not use him for food either unless you are sure you will never need a defensive support champ 🙂
would you say this is food material? I know it is an epic but a spirit “lukewarm” one at that.
