Gizmak the Terrible Champion Lore Synopsis
Gizmak, a scrawny Ogryn from the Glower tribe, lived a life filled with hardship in the dark caves of the Dawnmounts. Unlike his muscular kin, he was thin and weak, making him a target for mockery and mistreatment. Tasked with the tribe’s dirtiest jobs — hauling waste, baiting dangerous creatures, and keeping the torches lit — Gizmak dreamed of a life where he could stand up to his tormentors. One day, after a particularly harsh beating, he wandered deep into the tunnels, nursing his anger. Suddenly, an echo in the cavern began speaking to him, promising he’d one day get the power to punish those who had wronged him. Intrigued, he followed the voice deeper into the cave.
Gizmak soon found himself in an unfamiliar chamber, at the centre of which stood an eerie totem made of petrified wood, with three faces twisted into unsettling grins. An irresistible urge drove him to touch the totem, and as he did, it glowed crimson and everything went dark. When he regained consciousness, Gizmak was back in his own sleeping area with no memory of how he had returned. But the totem was somehow there with him. As he stumbled out of his shelter, he found his tribe in chaos — the Glower Ogryns had been ravaged by a powerful, monstrous Ogryn wielding a staff with glowing red faces. The tribe’s strongest warriors had been beaten, leaving everyone shocked and afraid.
Over time, Gizmak pieced together that this enormous Ogryn, who the tribe dubbed ‘the Terrible,’ was somehow linked to the totem. Though he didn’t fully understand its power, Gizmak began to suspect that when he touched the totem, he transformed into this brutal, unstoppable warrior who everyone feared. Eventually, unable to endure more abuse, he grabbed the totem in a moment of desperation, once again passing out and awakening to find the Terrible had reappeared. This time, the towering Ogryn demanded the tribe treat Gizmak with respect, referring to him as a dear friend.
Suddenly elevated from the lowest rank in the tribe, Gizmak was treated as a hero. He now enjoyed the best food, finest caves, and received tributes from his kin, who feared and respected his terrifying alter ego. Though some clever Ogryns grew suspicious, noting that Gizmak and the Terrible were never seen together, they were too frightened to challenge him. Gizmak was thrilled by his newfound status, and with every passing day, he grew healthier and more confident under the protection of the totem’s powers.
But peace did not last. Soon, Gizmak realised that the totem’s spirit had plans of its own. He found himself transforming into the Terrible without even touching the totem, each time waking to discover that his alter ego had expanded their rule, conquering neighbouring tribes and binding them under his control. With the totem’s influence growing, Gizmak sensed that his will was no longer his own, and the dark laughter he heard in the shadows hinted at even greater schemes yet to unfold.
This guy is pretty darn good. First, of three mythical creatures I pulled months ago, he is always used. Any suggestions for him?
Why do you recommend Accuracy? It seems completely useless on him to me.
