Tetsuya the Deliverer Lore Synopsis
Lady Mikage’s attempt to seize control of Yakai was met with fierce resistance, and at the heart of that defiance stood Tetsuya the Deliverer. A master strategist and quick thinker, he became a relentless adversary, using his sharp mind and unparalleled adaptability to counter Mikage’s forces. His ability to anticipate enemy movements was so uncanny that many believed he possessed supernatural foresight. Though he started with only a small group of fighters, his knowledge of the land and expertise in ambush warfare made him a formidable opponent, allowing him to strike swiftly and vanish before retaliation could come.
Tetsuya’s early tactics relied on guerrilla warfare. He targeted enemy scouts, cutting off Mikage’s eyes and ears, leaving her armies vulnerable. His fighters ambushed columns at their weakest moments, such as after long marches, and stalked supply lines to cripple morale. As his reputation grew, so did his forces. He freed prisoners who eagerly joined his cause, while others sought him out to pledge their allegiance. However, this influx of supporters left trails for Mikage’s forces to follow, leading to devastating losses. Undeterred, Tetsuya turned these vulnerabilities into opportunities, setting traps that lured his enemies into deadly engagements, turning their pursuit into their downfall.
Realising that smaller detachments could no longer counter Tetsuya’s cunning assaults, Mikage’s forces began traveling in massive formations. While this provided them with some security, it also slowed them down, limited their reach, and exposed them to early warnings from grateful villagers who supported Tetsuya’s cause. With fewer villages under immediate threat, his forces gained greater freedom to move and strike with precision, further weakening Mikage’s grip. His reputation as the Deliverer solidified, and those who followed him placed unwavering trust in his leadership, believing he alone could free Yakai from Siroth’s influence.
However, the resistance was doomed to face its greatest challenge when Lady Mikage personally led an overwhelming force against Tetsuya. Outnumbering him four to one, she razed villages and slaughtered innocents to force him into open battle. The decisive clash took place near Mount Kosetsu and raged for three days and nights. Tetsuya’s forces fought with unmatched tenacity, striking and retreating in a desperate attempt to wear down the invaders. Despite inflicting heavy losses, his army was ultimately overwhelmed. Scattered survivors fled, but Tetsuya refused to retreat. Surrounded and outnumbered, he and his closest warriors fought to the bitter end until only seven remained.
In the aftermath, the Arbiter took their souls into Shards, releasing them during the Shadowkin Rebellion to aid in the struggle against Mikage’s forces. Tetsuya fought with unparalleled fury, attempting to atone for his past defeat, but no victory could erase his torment. Even after the rebellion’s triumph at Kumoshiro, he found no solace. Exhausted and hollowed by guilt, he requested to be sealed once more within his Shard. His companions, seeing the weight of his burden, could only wonder if he would ever find peace.
