Black Knight Review
Black Knight, a Legendary HP Force affinity champion from the Banner Lords in Raid Shadow Legends, cuts an intimidating figure with his mace and black armor. If only he weren’t wearing his dressing gown over the top, he’d be downright terrifying. No one would want to cross him!
This Legendary Champion is a member of the Banner Lord faction, and his dark streak makes him the ideal choice for doing your dirty work if you were king or queen. Fortunately, he’s on your side in Raid Shadow Legends, ready to take on any foe.
Black Knight received a Buff in September 2020, which was long overdue. He replaced his plastic mace with a real one, making him much more effective in the game. He’s no longer just a guardian for your vault; he’s a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
Now that Doom Tower is in full swing, Black Knight has emerged as a standout champion to defeat Kuldath the Magma Dragon! His a1 ability, which has a 75% chance to Provoke a single target, is key to keeping Kuldath under control while your team finishes him off.
In addition to his formidable a1, Black Knight has a big AOE on his A3 that inflicts damage based on the HP he has lost. This makes him a valuable asset for wave clear in Dungeons and as a damage dealer in Arena. His cool passive also makes him hard to kill, further solidifying his status as a top-tier champion in Raid Shadow Legends.
Black Knight Champion Lore
The Black Knight straddles the line between myth and reality, an archetypal figure who has been part of the social fabric of Kaerok for generations. Such a span means that the current Black Knight is surely no longer the original person to bear that title, but a successor of some sort. Indeed, many see it as more a title and a role than a single individual. Elsewise, the Black Knight is unnaturally long-lived and perhaps something other than Human, but this a minority and controversial opinion. Whoever or whatever they are, they are anonymous and go about only in full plate harness and greathelm, concealing their appearance. The common folk hold that the Black Knight serves no master, perhaps not even the Goddess herself, but is some primordial wanderer, a being out of time, cursed with endless restlessness.
Their activities are best summarized by an ancient rhyme known to children across Kaerok: ‘Where wise and sane folk fear to tread / there goes the Black Knight in their stead / where stalk foul things of Dark and dread / there goes the Knight to make them dead.’ The Knight is a relentless foe of monsters and mutants, the nightmare Undead, the Knights Revenant, and all other forms of supernatural evil that dwell in the depths of Teleria. When all hope is lost and no strength can prevail, the Black Knight appears, striking down the terrors and shielding the weak from harm. When corruption festers unseen in some corner of the world or under the noses of the innocent, the Black Knight wades fearlessly into the foulest dens where it sneaks and crawls. When the Banner Lords are busy with their politicking, their wars of honor upon each other, their pageantry and pomp, and their squabbles with other nations, the Black Knight remains on constant vigil.
Opinions among scholars and pundits differ as to what this strange crusader truly is. Some theorize he is a Lightbringer, one of the rare Firstborn of creation still extant in the modern age. Others believe this knighthood is an openly secret position that is filled as needed: behind closed doors the Lords gather and appoint a warrior to don the horned black armor and assume the role of full-time guardian of the people. If so, where do the Lords find candidates? The Knight’s indomitable stamina and skill at wielding his steel-clad warclub are certainly exceptional, so replacements would have to be drawn from the finest soldiers of Kaerok. Would any given Lord willingly part with their strongest fighter, to continue a tradition of a folk hero who scorns all wealth and fame and never reveals their face? Most deem it unlikely.
To explain the Black Knight’s battle prowess and seemingly everlasting nature, some have posited that their essence resides in the armor itself. When donned, they say, the strength and skill of the Black Knight fills the person wearing it, yet that person’s mind becomes dulled and desensitized, their free will submerged, their limbs numb and unfeeling, all controlled by the armor’s will. Thus the Knight can persist beyond old age and violent death, for as long as the armor endures, another may don it. Certain adherents of this theory also believe the replacement is chosen by the Banner Lords, who offer an unskilled peon as a sacrifice to whatever strange intelligence guides the magical armor whenever it is necessary to renew the Knight. Others say the Knight and the armor are unguided by any Lord or any worldly force known.
Finally, there is the cynic’s point of view. The more sharply class-conscious among thinkers say the Black Knight represents everything the haughty knights of Kaerok claim to be, yet are not. They say that the Knight is mostly a comforting fantasy for those plagued every day by encroaching darkness, and that if the Lords truly cared, they would do more than send some lone vigilante to do their duty. Others say that is precisely the point of this enigmatic figure: to do the work too dangerous for any knight with name and standing to wish to be associated with, to plunge into the depths of evil lairs without fear of emerging tainted. One thing is certain, however: even the most cynical critic of the Black Knight, when faced with the slavering maw of some abyss-born horror, would gladly accept their aid.

@Perico @Aangrydog: Black Knight A3 skill damage multiplier has been updated!
Last breath is hp, not atk
With the last patch, his A3 hits hard. now hw has a really good AOE.
they should reverse his nerf on a1. that way he would be a solid champion for hydra.
@THOMAS: I have updated the mastery text description for the Campaign, Clan Boss and Dungeons section. Thanks for pointing it out!
My first post. Love your site. Extremely helpful. I am upset I followed the fake Ratings on the Plarium site by the Trolls. I believe there is an error on Blacknight’s Masteries for Campaign, Clan Boss, Dungeons. The image and the listing of Individual Masteries do not match up.
@Nick Bergen: I tested Black Knight today in Clan Boss, and I can confirm that his passive skill Valorous is working as intended. If the enemy isn’t able to deal damage more than 15% of Black Knight MAX HP, then it will not trigger his passive skill, which could be due to too much HP or Defense stacked on Black Knight.
Can anyone tell me why black knight isn’t casting his passive at all now
@KingSyphaOne: Could you please highlight which skill that Black Knight was nerfed and also the Patch Note that you have referred to? I could not find any details about him being nerfed.
Update please as this champ has been nerfed to the ground…
@Arggie: I have updated Black Knight naming for Deutsch. Thanks!
@Korean J: I corrected Black Knight naming for Korean. Thanks!

Why does he need Acc for Clan Boss? Provoke will not be used.
I assume Resist makes also sense. Or do I miss sth?
just got it, thought he just needs 1 book on A2 to be a pretty decent champ
wasted my 4 ftp hard worked books and didn’t get 1 book on his A2
im sad
What does Team Counterattack mean. Is it that all of toons have that gear on?
Hi!
The Masteries in the Counterattack vs Boss do not use all points. There is still points for 1 more tier 4.
Has anyone tried using him as the stun target in unkillable clan boss comps? His unkillable feels like it’d be very hard to get reliably, does his unkillable proc if he has another unkillable on already from another champ?
Hi Ayumilove.
In my experience everyone goes now to Reduce Defense 60% in arena. If you build it with lots of HP, about 2K defense and speed they wil be annoyed because even so you’ll still have 1200 DEF and a huge pool of HP. A large HP benefits more from Continuous Healing, and you will hit harder. And I prefer Lasting gifts for masteries, so I can extend one of every three buffs of defense or CH.
It’s a very good support champion. With two of them and the Valorous Passive (adding the CH when Dragon is about to kill you) I was able to kill Dragon 20 with no poison or Nuker.
Not the best, but they were my only Legendaries for a long time, so I had to plan different strategies.
@graham: You can use DEF% gear to substitute HP% gear if you do not have them. Also, it can help make up the lack of Defense of this champion, so he does not melt like a butter when hit by a strong attack. It’s recommended to have a balance of both HP and DEF stats. The best would be having primary stats on HP% and substats for DEF%.
i dont get why all def when his skill is based on hp and att?
Personally, I am a fan of Lasting Gifts for Black Knight. Comes in handy for higher level dungeons where Black Knight may not be able to keep Def/Continuous Heal up consistently. Continuous Heal is stackable, so you can have multiple in effect simultaneously. +30% HP for a turn here and there can be a deciding factor in many engagements.
I find Offense/Support to be quite effective in Clan Boss and Dungeons, though I understand why you recommend the Defensive Tree for this type of content.
Hello,
wouldnt making him lead deny his ability to keep DEF all the time? Also do you know damage ratio for his A1 and A3?
Thank you.
@Perico: Black Knight is great in Clan Boss too. I believe he can take those deadly stun from Clan Boss when positioned as the Lead, since he is protected by his passive skill that grants Unkillable buff.
@DesignAnn: I have updated Black Knight A3 skill name from Aggress to Last Breath. Thanks for the correction!
So noone mentioned Monthy Python and the Holy Grail?
What a shame.
He is great for Defense based Champions. Both continuous heal and increase defense, every two turns.
Just put everything into HP and speed. Even in spiders it’s great to have one of them.
Black Knight’s Skill: Aggress [ATK] is named incorrectly. It should be named Last Breath [ATK].
he deserves to be placed on A list hes insane tank that does dmg based on his hp and is almost impossible to kill and if placed with thenasil then they can make perma def buff with heal so
I have two fully maxed at about 84.000 HP. They both hit like a truck and heal for about 25.000 each turn. Nearly impossible to kill them.
Also in CB helps to survive entire team, and improves DEF based Champions.
I used it before the update, but now it’s a beast.
This guy has a 60% increased defense skill not 30% 🙂
He is much better with the new update.but i must say one thing.hoppe they will change his skill (last breath) froom demage based on atk to demage based in hp .would be better .and would be a nice legendary to have. hoppe everyone enjoy this game .is a nice game to play
after the update i think he deserve 5 stars in cb. Made my team to resist 5 minutes more = deal more damage.
