Matriarch Zarguna Overview
Matriarch Zarguna, the Clanmother of the Orcs, is back to defend her tribe in Raid Shadow Legends, bringing a powerful toolkit of protection and healing to the battlefield. As a Legendary HP champion from the Orcs Faction, she excels at keeping her allies alive by drawing enemy attacks to herself and mitigating damage through a combination of buffs, healing, and shields. Zarguna’s unique abilities allow her to control the battlefield while ensuring her team stays resilient against even the toughest enemies, making her a valuable asset in both PvE and PvP content. Let’s dive into her skill set and understand how each one shines in battle.
Zarguna’s Battlethrum (A1) is a straightforward, yet highly effective, attack that hits a single enemy twice. After each hit, she heals herself by 5% of her max HP, ensuring that she remains sturdy as the frontline protector. This self-sustain mechanic is vital, especially when she’s absorbing damage for her team. Additionally, each hit has a 25% chance of placing a Provoke debuff, making it ideal for controlling dangerous enemies like The Head of Decay or Magma Dragon, forcing them to focus on her and sparing your vulnerable allies.
Her Clanmother (A2) skill is where Zarguna truly embodies her role as the team’s shield. This ability reduces the duration of all debuffs on her allies by 1 turn, effectively softening the blow from enemy debuffers. On top of this, she places a Continuous Heal buff on all allies for two turns, which helps in sustaining the team through drawn-out fights. But it doesn’t stop there — Zarguna also places Taunt and Unkillable buffs on herself, ensuring that enemies focus their attacks on her while she remains standing even at her most vulnerable. This combination makes her a standout tank, particularly in battles like Hydra, where redirecting enemy attention away from marked champions can be a game changer.
Maternal Force (A3) turns Zarguna into a fortress for her allies. This skill attacks all enemies while placing a Shield on her entire team, with the shield’s strength based on 25% of her max HP. The shield not only provides an immediate layer of protection, but it also triggers a follow-up effect: when the shield is either removed or expires, it heals the affected ally by 15% of their max HP and applies a Strengthen buff for 1 turn. This ensures your team can recover and stay strong, even after absorbing heavy damage. Combined with her Refuge from Pain (Passive), which reduces damage taken by allies under a shield by 10%, Zarguna creates a formidable defense that is hard to break through, making her indispensable in prolonged battles and encounters against hard-hitting bosses.

Matriarch Zarguna Champion Lore Synopsis
Matriarch Zarguna, born in the rugged Redspike Mountains, was shaped by tragedy and survival. After the devastating Gaellen War, she thrived as a leader and mother, raising her children alone following the untimely deaths of her three husbands. To cope with her grief, Zarguna threw herself into martial training, becoming a skilled warrior and respected clan leader. For years, she avoided the thought of marriage, focusing solely on protecting her family and fulfilling her duties. However, the arrival of a charming Orc mercenary named Karnthan softened her resolve, and Zarguna eventually chose to travel with him and his mercenary band, leaving her clan behind.
Zarguna and Karnthan spent two decades in battle and adventure, during which they had a daughter named Zargala. Despite these years of relative peace, tragedy struck once more. A fateful contract with Sir Marston led to the annihilation of Karnthan’s mercenary group, the Usurpers. Zarguna was forced to watch helplessly as Karnthan was killed in front of her. The massacre of her comrades, the loss of her love, and the near-death of her daughter Zargala sent Zarguna into a frenzy of rage. She fought fiercely, leaving the battlefield wounded but alive, while her family and friends lay dead around her.
Weighed down by grief and guilt, Zarguna retreated from the world. She questioned her decision to leave her clan, wondering if her children, now grown, resented her absence. Despite her inner turmoil, Zarguna returned to her clan and was welcomed back with open arms. Her reunion with her children, who now had families of their own, renewed her sense of purpose. Determined to protect her loved ones at all costs, she vowed never to abandon them again, even if it meant facing more battles.
Soon after, Zarguna was called to action when a warlord named Artak rallied the Orcs for war against Kaerok. Zarguna refused to join the fight, choosing instead to turn her stronghold into a sanctuary for injured Orcs and deserters. Her decision to remain neutral angered both sides of the conflict, leading to repeated assaults on her fortress. Zarguna, however, held her ground, defending her territory with unyielding strength, proving once again that her might was unmatched when it came to protecting the vulnerable.
Amidst the chaos of war, Zarguna received word that her daughter Zargala had survived the massacre and avenged her father. Torn between guilt and hope, Zarguna sent messengers to find her daughter, longing for reconciliation. As she awaited word, questions plagued her: would Zargala resent her or welcome her? Zarguna’s greatest wish was to reunite with her daughter, offer her a place among her heirs, and ensure that Zargala had the strength and knowledge to shape her own future.
