Glorious Pallas Champion Lore Synopsis

Pallas was known across the isle of Pelagos as both a fearless warrior and a brilliant architect. She played a central role in founding the city of Thalass, shaping it with careful thought and remarkable skill. Under her guidance, the young city grew into a place of beauty and strength. She designed a magnificent palace, wide avenues lined with trees, tranquil gardens, sacred shrines, and elegant arcades built with perfect balance. Above all stood the mighty walls that protected the city, both strong and graceful in form. These achievements reflected Pallas’ belief that wisdom and planning could guard civilisation just as surely as weapons and soldiers.

One evening, during a grand festival held in her honour, an unusual visitor arrived. A dappled owl landed upon her balcony and began to speak with the clear voice of a learned woman. The owl revealed that it carried the spirit of a powerful Aetherial known as the Wise Warrior, a guardian of knowledge, strategy, and artistic skill. The being explained that Pallas had demonstrated the virtues admired by the Wise Warrior and offered her a rare gift. She could rise beyond mortality and serve as a herald and champion to this divine power. Recognising the significance of the moment, Pallas accepted the offer.

At the owl’s request, she placed her hand upon its feathered brow. In an instant, her form dissolved into a living breeze that followed the bird through the night sky. Together they travelled to the highest peak of Pelagos, where the Wise Warrior’s presence awaited. When Pallas later returned to the festival, she was transformed. A calm radiance surrounded her, and her appearance reflected the city she had created. She carried a towering shield that echoed the strength of Thalass’ walls and a spear as straight and precise as the columns she once designed. From that moment onward, she stood as both protector and symbol of the city.

For generations Pallas watched over Thalass as its people grew and changed. Many rulers rose and fell during this time, yet one leader captured her attention more than the rest. Polemarch Agameos inherited a strong alliance of islands and sought to unite even more of the Argonite city states through diplomacy and conquest. Having seen countless attempts at empire collapse through rivalry and division, Pallas recognised in Agameos the promise of a new age. She chose to assist him, helping guide the growing structure of his government.

Among her many responsibilities, Pallas now oversees demanding trials meant to test the strength and ability of Agameos’ officials and soldiers. Those who seek positions in the empire must face challenges that measure both body and mind. Competitors prove themselves through combat with sword, spear, and javelin, as well as through logic, rhetoric, mathematics, poetry, theology, and seamanship. Scholars are still expected to display endurance and athletic skill, while warriors must demonstrate knowledge and discipline. A rare few who excel in these trials earn elevation similar to Pallas’ own transformation and become Aetherials serving the Wise Warrior, continuing her mission of guiding the Argonites as they enter the wider world of Teleria.
