Iudex Artor Overview

Iudex Artor, a Legendary champion from the Sacred Order in Raid Shadow Legends, is not just another warrior but a beacon of justice and discipline. Wielding his chained censer mace, he captures the souls of fallen allies and releases them back into battle with renewed vigor – a mechanic that makes him uniquely versatile across various game modes. His design as a free Legendary champion during Community Weeks adds immense value for players at all stages of progression, offering utility that rivals even premium champions like Senna Amberheart. With skills tailored to revive, buff, and sustain teams while infusing strategic depth through crowd control options, Iudex Artor shines in both early-to-mid gameplay and late-game challenges such as Siege, The Cursed City, and Faction Wars Hard Mode.

Artor’s strength lies primarily in his ability to turn the tide of battle with his Revival Mandate skill, which brings a defeated ally back to life with 50% HP and Turn Meter, immediately activating their default skill against vulnerable enemies. This feature alone transforms him into a lifeline for struggling teams, ensuring continuity in offensive pressure or defensive resilience. What sets this ability apart is its synergy with his passive, Sentenced to Life, which resets the cooldown of Revival Mandate if the revived ally secures a kill. This creates opportunities for frequent revivals, allowing Artor to maintain momentum and keep fragile yet high-impact units alive longer. Furthermore, his Incense of Inspiration skill, amplifies team performance by granting Increase Attack buffs, Strengthen effects, and filling Turn Meters – all crucial mechanics for sustaining damage output and mitigating incoming threats. For early-to-mid game players who lack access to top-tier support champions, these combined abilities make Artor invaluable in scenarios where survival and adaptability are key.

Beyond revival and buffing prowess, Artor’s AoE attack, Censer Whirl skill, introduces additional utility by healing allies based on his maximum health. While modest in damage scaling, this skill ensures consistent healing over time, keeping squishier teammates upright amidst prolonged engagements. Additionally, Artor’s toolkit opens doors for creative artifact builds; pairing him with artifact sets like Taunting, Cursed, or Stun enhances his crowd-control capabilities, making him a disruptive force in arenas or dungeons requiring precise timing. His Aura further bolsters team speed in Arena battles, giving allies an edge in turn order – an often-underestimated advantage in fast-paced skirmishes. By seamlessly blending revival, stat boosts, healing, and potential crowd control, Iudex Artor proves himself to be far more than a one-dimensional champion. Whether you’re navigating early content or tackling endgame challenges, his multifaceted contributions ensure he remains relevant throughout your journey in Raid Shadow Legends!

Iudex Artor Champion Lore Synopsis

Iudex Artor was once a respected figure within the Sacred Order, known for his unwavering sense of justice and unshakeable dedication to order. Though many sought his guidance in times of conflict, his stern and emotionless approach meant he was admired rather than loved. As a Lightbringer, Artor embodied the absolute discipline and structure that defined his kind. This strict nature became a key reason for the eventual separation between the Lightbringers and the Sacred Order, a split that would unfold slowly but decisively over time.

During the Second Great War, Lightbringers served as commanders, awe-inspiring figures who fought for Lumaya and motivated mortals on the battlefield. However, their rigid mindset made their tactics predictable. Mortal officers grew frustrated as they watched victories slip away due to the Lightbringers’ inability to adapt. Eventually, these complaints reached Artor, who listened carefully to both sides. After long deliberation, he declared that the Lightbringers should step down from command and allow mortal leaders to take charge. His proposal was accepted, marking a turning point in the relationship between the two groups.

Though Artor believed he had done what was necessary, his decision deepened the rift between the Lightbringers and the rest of the Order. Mortals, with their adaptability, proved to be both an asset and a risk. This risk became reality years later when the Red Crusade broke out — a violent campaign against non-human races. The Lightbringers, disgusted by the cruelty they witnessed, abandoned the Order. Artor stayed behind, hoping to restore its former values. But he was blocked at every turn, accused of betrayal, and ultimately forced to leave the Eternal Citadel, his resolve shattered but not broken.

Even in exile, Artor remains faithful to the principles he once upheld. He believes the Sacred Order can be redeemed and continues to oppose the growing fanaticism within its ranks. He still presents the same grim presence, his deep voice and commanding manner cutting through any doubt. Artor’s mask, once a symbol of impartial judgement, now serves as a tool to detect lies, allowing him to read the smallest signs of deceit. His flail, Righteous Judgment, is not only a powerful weapon but also a vessel for enchanted incense that can inspire or unnerve allies and foes alike.

Now living in Wixwell’s Vault, Artor protects ancient texts and artefacts once held sacred by the Order. He regularly ventures beyond its walls to recover lost relics and battle the forces of evil. Often, he is joined by Chronicler Adelyn, whose journeys across the land help uncover new dangers and lost treasures, aiding Artor in his quiet, tireless mission to reclaim the honour his Order has forgotten.

I built with “retaliation” plus “avenging”. So he will have some chances counter-attack whenever he is hit or debuffed. So far not bad no matter PVP or PVE, if not losing turns like sleeping or stunned or freezed, etc.

“retaliation” plus “avenging” made SPD not that critical. And RES is not required. So I can concentrate on DEF and HP.

@Ayumilove. Thanks for the confirm on the damage stats and well noted. Love your site! Its my primary go-to for Raid guidance along with Hellhades and videos by Ash, Nubraids, Skratch. Hope to try out Iudex soon in Faction Wars.

  3. Capy

Would swift parry be worth it?

  4. KSA

Rank A my ass, he’s a dogshat champion

@Goingnowhere: Iudex Artor’s A1 ability doesn’t deliver much damage, and none of his other skills deal damage at all. As a result, investing in stats like Critical Rate, Critical Damage, and Attack is inefficient. Instead, allocating those stats into HP would be more beneficial. This approach not only enhances his survivability but also boosts his AoE healing capabilities, which are based on his HP. Additionally, it ensures he can stay alive longer to revive his fallen teammates, making him a resilient support character.

@Ayumilove. Noted on your inputs and much appreciated! I’m still stuck at Faction Wars Normal after over 2 yrs and likely to be a permanent resident lol Will check my stun and Retaliation sets to see if i got enough Speed and HP stats on them. I guess damage stats ie C Rate, C Damage and Attack arent much use for him right?

@Goingnowhere: For me I would be building Iudex Artor with a Stun Set to crowd control enemies for Faction Wars (Hard) and Cursed City (Hard difficulty). Better preventing your champions getting hit than healing them after getting injured by enemy is a better approach. Adding 1 Retaliation Set on him will provide him a chance to use his A1 to counterattack, which synergizes well with Stun Set and Cursed Set.

Did this champ get a new rating on this site? I feel like it remember their ranking being a B or a C, and as of right now it’s showing an ‘A’ ranking.
Then again I did get like 4 or 5 legendaries over the past couple weeks, so I may have got my Champs mixed up.
Oh, and if the ranking did change, could someone explain why? Thanks.

@Ayumilove but welcome all inputs from anyone else. I know its early , but looking into gear options. F2P with limited resources and no god tier gear ilike Rebirth,. I’m gonna be building him for Faction Wars primarily. Assuming my gear stats are universally not that great, i’m planning to put him in 1x speed gear with 6 star HP% chest piece (from community weeks reward calendar) and 5 star speed boots. The remaining 4 slots will be taken up by Immortal gear with a 4 star Defense % gauntlet (best i got). Or in place of the speed set i’m also considering Defense set (lots of 6 star HP% pieces) or maybe Retaliatiom. Thoughts anyone?

But is he a CB replacement for Scyl? My champ pulls have been rlly limited. Though I have teams for all affinities except void. I need a new reviver and my discord said that this was slightly better reviver than Scyl. But I still need to decide wether to fast food him to six?

@Clip: It depends on where you’re stuck in your account progression. If you’re trying to earn 3 stars in the Sacred Order stage of Faction Wars but are struggling to keep all allies alive until the end, you’ll need him to revive fallen teammates. On the other hand, if your dungeon runs are failing because your damage dealers keep getting knocked out, you’ll need him to help your champions survive.

  12. Clip

    Worth 6 starring as a level 52?

  13. J

Good champion. Just not the #1 option as a reviver. Will be good for faction wars.

Far too good to make food, but probably not good enough to make it out of the vault. And clearly not my highest priority to 6 star.

    Interesting storyline however.
