Xiloco the Encrusted Champion Lore Synopsis

A desperate letter reaches Grand Arcanist Kelezar from one of his servants, who begs for forgiveness after uncovering a remarkable discovery in the Stormwind Wastes. The writer explains how he first found what appeared to be a glowing teal rock formation hidden within a cliffside. The strange stone radiated power far beyond its beauty, and he became fascinated by it. Instead of reporting the finding immediately, he chose to investigate further, believing he could present a greater treasure to his master. His workers soon realised the stone was fused to scaled flesh marked with red and black stripes, revealing that the object was not stone at all, but a living creature trapped within the rock.

Under careful supervision, the creature was slowly freed from the cliff along with a shield and heavy mace made from the same mysterious material. The servant transported the being to a secure laboratory so it could later be examined by Kelezar himself. During a cautious inspection, he discovered a strange field surrounding the creature that seemed to affect time itself. Merely standing close to it made him feel younger and stronger. Before he could study it further, the creature suddenly awoke. Hoping to avoid conflict, the servant spoke calmly to it and offered food instead of treating it like a prisoner.

The being proved far more intelligent and composed than expected. It calmly studied its surroundings and questioned the servant about places called Twinrift and Allreach, as well as the Lost Isles by an ancient name unfamiliar to anyone living in the present age. Through their lengthy conversation, the servant learned the creature’s name was Xiloco. He claimed to have lived during a distant era when gods walked openly across Teleria. Xiloco spoke of witnessing the Shadow God at a gathering called the Grand Symposium, shocking the servant, who believed such things impossible. When told that the gods existed in separate realms, Xiloco sadly realised immense time must have passed while he remained trapped.

Xiloco later revealed he had once been a scholar, explorer, politician, and warrior who fought in an ancient conflict unknown to modern history. He also explained the incredible properties of the teal stone covering his body. According to him, more deposits of it existed elsewhere in the world, each possessing astonishing chronomantic power. To demonstrate its abilities, Xiloco restored a crushed spider back to life as though nothing had happened. He believed a cave in during his research had trapped him within the stone, preserving him through the passing ages.

The letter ends in horror and panic. The servant confesses that he fell asleep only to awaken and discover Xiloco had vanished without a trace. The thralls guarding him had become withered corpses, reduced to ancient skeletons as though decades had passed in moments. Throughout the servant’s holdings, followers lay dead and decayed in the same unnatural manner. Terrified for his own survival, he raised the bodies as undead servants while desperately searching for the escaped Lizardman. Though consumed with fear, he remains obsessed with the power of the mysterious stone and urges Kelezar to find Xiloco before anyone else claims its secrets.
