Krokhad the Throatripper Overview
Krokhad the Throatripper enters Raid as the long-awaited hound of Packmaster Shy’ek, finally delivering on the teasers from 2024 that hinted Shy’ek’s lackluster companions would one day be replaced. Released as the July 2025 Fragment Fusion, Krokhad is a Legendary Orc with a kit built for tearing into Hydra, dismantling PvE waves, and even catching certain Arena teams off guard. If you already own Packmaster Shy’ek, his value skyrockets thanks to unique skill synergies that bypass some of the most frustrating mechanics in the game. Without Shy’ek, he still packs strong damage and useful debuffs, but his full destructive potential shines brightest in their paired hunt. For players aiming to future-proof their Hydra roster, this is a Fusion worth chasing while it’s available.
His A1, Hound-Tyrant, is not your average wave-clear opener. Instead of traditional AoE, he strikes each target individually, letting him bypass [Reflect Damage], [Pain Link], and [Ally Protection] without risking self-damage or wasted hits. With Packmaster on the team, this skill deals double damage on counterattacks, making it devastating in Hydra fights where counter triggers are common. This attack style also benefits from high single-target multipliers while still pressuring the entire enemy team, making it excellent in Doom Tower waves and Faction Wars. Paired with champions who can grant counterattack buffs or provoke enemy retaliation, Krokhad’s A1 becomes a constant source of pressure.
His A2, Festering Jaw, adds utility to his brute force. It hits all enemies, delivering an extra strike on targets carrying two or more debuffs. It also brings [Leech] and [Weaken] to the fight, which can’t be resisted if Shy’ek is present. Leech keeps your team sustained without relying on dedicated healers, while Weaken increases all incoming damage — a game-changer in long Hydra or dungeon battles. Champions like Lydia the Deathsiren, Narma the Returned, or Ma’Shalled can feed him debuffs to ensure the extra hit always triggers. This makes him equally dangerous in Fire Knight, where multiple hits tear through the shield, and in Arena when softening tanky defenses.
The real executioner in his kit is Dominant Predator, a single-target nuke that ignores 50% DEF, [Life Barrier], [Poison Cloud], and mechanics that redirect damage. Against the Head of Decay, this lets you skip Life Barrier’s extra HP bar entirely, dealing real damage from the first hit. Poison Cloud from the Head of Blight is also no obstacle, allowing him to keep striking without cleanse or buff removal. With Shy’ek present, he hits twice, making him one of the most consistent Hydra head finishers available. His passive, Primal Ambition, ramps his ATK permanently during a fight — up to 25% solo or a massive 50% with Shy’ek — turning him into a late-game wrecking ball. It also auto-triggers Dominant Predator if a Hydra head consumes an ally, saving precious turns in freeing them. For gearing, focus on ATK%, Crit Rate, and Crit Damage, with Accuracy if you plan to land debuffs without Shy’ek’s help. Krokhad thrives with support from counterattack champions, heavy debuffers, and turn meter boosters, making him a flexible but lethal addition to any advanced PvE roster.

Krokhad the Throatripper Champion Lore Synopsis
The tale begins with the sudden appearance of a predator, its clawed tracks marking its presence before striking in the night. It kills Urguta, slipping past guards and leaving nothing behind but blood. The following day it reveals itself, standing boldly on a rock and watching the hunters without fear, as if warning them to leave. Shy’ek, the narrator and Packmaster, answers by vowing to kill it, setting the stage for a relentless pursuit.
The beast continues its silent war against the pack, taking Raggo and his hound next. Each loss drives Shy’ek deeper into rage. He spots the creature again as they cross the desert to seek Gharol Bloodmaul. Determined not to lose another comrade, Shy’ek keeps vigil through the night and finally engages the beast when it enters camp. The fight is brief and the creature escapes, but Shy’ek refuses to relent, tracking it across the sands.
He eventually finds it locked in combat with a bull elephant. The monster’s ferocity is unmatched, tearing down even the mighty beast by ripping out its throat. Shy’ek, both impressed and enraged, attacks at once. What follows is a brutal clash. The predator is cunning, using speed and precision to go for Shy’ek’s neck while adapting its tactics with each exchange. Shy’ek, experienced in breaking hounds, recognises the creature’s instincts and tries to use them against it, but the beast is too quick and too clever, shifting its attacks to his limbs and weapon. Despite Shy’ek’s skill, the battle drags on without resolution.
Realising the creature’s strength, Shy’ek changes his intent. Instead of killing it, he aims to subdue it. He seizes his chance when it lunges once more, wrapping his arms around its neck and legs around its paws in a brutal struggle that leaves him cut and bloodied. After a long wrestle, the predator finally yields. Shy’ek releases it, and in an unexpected turn, the beast licks his wounds before slinking into the shadows. From that moment, Shy’ek names it Krokhad the Throatripper, a title that reflects both its nature and the desert it roams.
Later, Gharol Bloodmaul reveals that Krokhad was not born in the wild but created in Ireth and then imprisoned before escaping. Shy’ek, outraged by this revelation, swears destruction upon its makers. He witnesses Krokhad’s relentless strength many times thereafter, knowing that for now it answers only to him. Yet he acknowledges the truth that one day Krokhad will challenge him for dominance, seeking the right to be alpha.

I have 3 and I have all 3 built with 2 packmasters and it’s so ridiculous the DMG output, a champ this good i usually dont empower unless I can’t think of a reason to keep around, having multiple has made doom tower and hard factions a peice of cake! I run all 3 in merciless or ignore def % armor with about 300 ACC! Best way to build is have one with a lil more ACC to land the debuffs and have the other one full DMG the come behind to clean up!
Should I empower this beast? I have two 😉 Thanks.
