Basim Ibn Ishaq Champion Lore Synopsis
Basim Ibn Ishaq begins his journey as a man shaped by hardship and sharp instinct. Once a street thief, he rose through discipline and hard lessons to become a Master Assassin, trained by the Hidden Ones long before they were known as the Assassin Brotherhood. His skills were earned through years of danger, learning stealth, movement, and the silent art of killing. This path gave him more than technique; it gave him purpose. By the time this story unfolds, Basim has come to understand both the world around him and the hidden truth within himself, allowing him to act with calm focus in the fight for freedom and justice.
His resolve is tested when he awakens alone in a desert he does not recognise. Surrounded by heat, sand, and false visions, Basim keeps his senses sharp rather than giving in to fear. He studies the shifting ground and listens to the wind, using small details to guide his steps. This careful approach leads him to an oasis occupied by Nomads, people who survive through knowledge of the land. As he learns from them, another stranger arrives, dressed in white and bearing a Hidden Blade. Basim recognises the weapon at once. A brief exchange confirms what words do not, and the stranger reveals himself as Bayek.
Understanding that survival improves with trust, Basim proposes they travel together to find a way home. From the Nomads, they learn of a southern port city called Velyzar, a place where secrets and information are traded freely. Along the journey, the two Assassins share their pasts and the meaning the Hidden Blade holds for each of them. After days of travel, they reach Velyzar and are met with sights both strange and familiar: performers drawing crowds, unusual figures roaming the streets, and a mix of cultures living side by side in uneasy balance.
Velyzar reveals deep hardship beneath its colour and noise. Basim watches the poor struggle for survival, seeing reflections of his own early life in their hunger and despair. Yet he also knows such cities reward those who move carefully and seize opportunity. While searching markets and back streets for leads, both Assassins sense a familiar pull, a presence tied to ancient power. Their attention turns to a man calling himself Pontiff Augustin, a zealot posing as a holy saviour.
Augustin wears a strange golden flask adorned with blue eyes and sharp edges. In public, he uses it to perform so called miracles, healing the sick and winning worship from the desperate. In private moments, observed from the shadows, his hunger for greater power becomes clear. Basim notices the flask glow whenever Augustin acts, confirming it as Isu technology. Certain of the danger it poses, Basim resolves to take it. He has faced men like Augustin before, driven by pride and greed. With patience and careful timing, Basim prepares to strike when the moment is right.
