Ma’Shalled Review
Ma’Shalled, a Legendary champion from the Undead Hordes faction in Raid Shadow Legends, is known as the original vampire who sired a thousand children. His reputation precedes him, as he is feared for his deadly wrath that strikes quickly. Despite this, Ma’Shalled is considered a god amongst the undead.
Once known as a vault lord, Ma’Shalled received a significant buff in April 2020, propelling him to the top 15 Legendary champions and making him a formidable force in arena offence. His high damage potential and ability to control enemies through True Fear make him an excellent choice for any team. Additionally, Ma’Shalled’s leech ability allows him to be used in a Clan Boss team without requiring the rest of the team to wear Life Steal gear. He is also a key player in the famous white whale team, which provides a 2:1 speed advantage against the clan boss, maximizing the number of hits.
With enough accuracy to apply debuffs, Ma’Shalled can control enemy waves in any dungeon. He is especially valuable against the Hydra Clan Boss, as his A1 can hit all enemies with a leech debuff, bypassing many of the Hydra’s passive abilities to reduce incoming AOE damage. Despite his fearsome reputation, Ma’Shalled is a great champion to have on any team, as long as he is paired with the right champions.

Excellent champ. Useful almost anywhere and a huge pain to face in the arena.
Well surprise, surprise… this champion showed up after a random shard pull. What is his best use and gear set up in December of 2023? Thank you for the advice, and yes, I am happy to have this champion, one who has beaten my teams many many times in the Arena.
Ty
Beware, beware, Ma’shalled will make you a blood sucking immortal vampire
Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Acabei de criar uma conta e ganhei ele e a ronda em 2 fragmentos anciões que peguei do começo da campanha e das missões de calabouço MUITO BOM
Mistake! Open Wounds
Level 2: Buff/Debuff Chance +10% (NOT damage)
Level 3: Buff/Debuff Chance +10% (NOT damage)
Level 4: Cooldown -1
I use him with king Gallcobar those two are a menace just about everywhere
I hate facing this guy in Arena. As people have pointed out, his True Fear can be cast over and over again, making him unkillable unless you have either a Speed advantage or can Resist said True Fear. Stun, Freeze, other usual one-turn debuff stoppers, I’ve tried them, don’t work, have lost with 130K+ teams to 1-Shot-Wonder Ma’Shalled squads of 30K power or so. Like they said in Pirates Of The Carribean, Ye Be Warned! Happy gaming!
hey all! i found this champion from a random blue shard, but i think is bugged.
When i put on autobattle it doesn’t work the A1 as intended, it doen’t attack the leeched enemies but only the first one. When is not on auto, it works, anyone has this problem?
The level 2 and 3 skill ups for Open Wounds are wrong. They increase buff/debuff % chance, not damage.
I have him in savage/cruel gear and his A1 hits like a truck in arena. 120k+ crits are not at all unusual – and since this build has 95% crit, his A1 also hits everyone with a leech debuff pretty much every time.
I will eventually try him in relentless gear because of his A2, but I’m already very happy with him.
@DorniTheTurtle — How much ACC is overkill depends on where you use him. In Arena? There is no such thing; the higher you go, the more resistance teams will have, so the more ACC the better. Elsewhere it depends on the level — rule of thumb is 10 * level minimum, so for level 10 Dungeons you should have at least 100 ACC. Clan Boss in order from Easy to UNM: 20, 50, 70, 140, 220.
As to whether he’s OP? No. He is a great champion, but he’s a Legendary, he’s supposed to be great. He can be countered fairly easily — be faster (which is the prevailing meta anyway), or have a cleanser with high resist, or a tanky DPS with high resist who’ll wear him down.
As GôTô said back on October 23rd, 2020 the book upgrades on his A3 are wrong. Book 1 and 2 upgrade buff/debut chance by 10% and book 3 lowers cd by 1.
Use to avoid him in arena coz he is so annoying to counter. Now that I have Inquisitor Shamael, I’m literally look for him….. 🙂
Ma’Shalled is a great champion. Not overbalanced, not underbalanced. Facing him in Arena def is easy if if you’re faster, just like with every other champion if you’re faster but not so if you’re not fast enough. Some champions will always be better or “the best”. There are always going to be some. That’s just the nature of this kind of game.
If you pull him, you’ll find uses for him everywhere. RAID really nailed him when they buffed him. He’s a fearful (fears) bloodsucker (leech) that empowers your team to go harder because of those debuffs (giving crit dmg and speed buffs). RAID totally nailed him! Build him ASAP and have fun!
I agree with Lybe, this champion I unbalanced. Developers should do sth on it.
Just got him from the 2 sacred shards I got from the RSL Second Anniversary giveaways. Not really sure how to use him. I don’t even have good gear for him right now. LUL
Is there any lore for him? I’ve seen it on a few other characters.
how much accuracy is overkill?
i TOOOOOTALLY agree with Kewlcrayon. I just played against a Ma’Shalled and the only reason i won is because my Valkyrie has a big amount of restistance so she wouldnt get feared ever. Ma-Shalled is literally the most UNbalanced champion in the game especially when you cant oneshot him.
I would recommend Opportunist Mastery instead of cycle of violence.
Mashalled can cast True Fear every 2 turns (3 turn cool down minus the free turn) which lasts 2 turns so realistically with high enough accuracy enemies will forever be under true fear debuff. When booked the free turn guarantees Open Wounds which then strips buffs and hits hard (50% with no buffs)
12% more damage is HUGE. The 30% turn meter is meaningless when you get a free turn every 2 turns.
@Timbo 23: If you are not using Ma’Shalled in a Speed Tuned team which requires specific sequence/order that the champions have to go, then you can pick both Rapid Response and Arcane Celerity as it will boost his Turn Meter whenever the debuff falls off from the enemy. If you are early-mid game player, it might not affect you much as you want more speed without regarding specific turn order, but for late game used of Ma’Shalled, it depends on where you used him most often such as Clan Boss (1 Key Nightmare and Ultra Nightmare Clan Boss) or other areas of the game.
For Scyl the Drakes, you want maximum speed disregarding the turn order because her passive skill provides Increase SPD buff on a random ally, which disrupts the sequence after a few turns into Clan Boss or Dungeons.
Im confused… he cast more debuffs than some others which you recommend arcane clerity (scyl for instance), yet not for this guy. How come?
@Timbo23: I have updated Ma’Shalled Arena masteries to include Rapid Response. The other masteries does not include Rapid Response if you would want to speed tune for Clan Boss (Leech setup instead of Lifesteal Set on all champions in the team)
@ryan: I have bumped up Ma’Shalled rating for Magic Keep from 3 stars to 5 stars. Thanks for sharing your experiences using him 🙂
Why not go with rapid response?
First, I agree with Ryan regarding the magic keep. Ma’Shalled is a must have on my team.
Second, I have a question regarding using the evil eye mastery. Will the turn meter reduction possibility only occur on the initial champion attacked using the A1 skill or will it also extend to all of the other champions under a leech debuff as well?
I think Ma’Shalled’s rating for Magic Keep should be 5*, or at least 4*, even though he is off affinity. His A3 strips the buffs off the boss EVERY time they go up and puts that huge shield on himself. Allowing your other champs to destroy the boss in 1 or 2 turns. I use him on that Keep every time and my team finishes the boss in about 10 or 15 seconds.
lmfao lore of steel… what a waste. go evil eye …
@Kate: Swift Parry is mainly used for Arena since champions from the Arena Defense can nuke your team and Swift Parry can prevent it at 50% of the chance. Hence, I highly recommend not using this Artifact Set under any circumstances unless its being used mainly for Attacker champion that does not rely on Accuracy as this Artifact Set requires 4 pieces of Swift Parry Artifact type. Another niche usage is to use on a Tanker who can revive himself such as Torturehelm.
Hello. Just wondering what you make of Swift Parry with Speed gear for Ma’shalled? Obviously focusing on the stats posted above.
Hello,
There is an error on the books for the a3. The first 2 books increase buff/debuff chance, not damage 🙂
@Timbo 23: I have updated the mastery list to sync with the mastery image. Thanks for highlighting the error!
Visual for arena masteries doesnt match its list below. Thx for the guide
@JustSeen
As it says in Ma’Shalled´s A1 description;
Bloodsucker [ATK]
Attacks 1 enemy.
So in theory its a single hit. EvilEye will then do 20% TM reduction on main target. Another question are if EvilEye also does 5% TM on the remaining targets if there are a Leech to activate attack on them.
I was just wondering, Does anyone know wether Evil eye will be considered as aoe or single target, as the skill is basically a single target skill with a condition to make the single target hit everyone,
So does Evil Eye proc the 20% TM reduction on everyone or only 5% reduction when it the A1 condtion is met to be aoe?
I would go for opportunist instead of either kill streak or methodical, he applies true fear himself after all 😛
@Jason – speed, speed, speed…he’s going to be a game changer for you!
Just Got him, he’s my first ever legendary champion. Noticed his armor is all Speed recommended, would life steal be useful just to double up on his regained health? Or is speed speed speed really the best plan? Trying to build him as an all-rounder.
@Eriond I dont know how to respond to your first question, but for the second question, you will rarely have debuffs expire with him. In CB, only Leech (A2) and Decrease Heal (A3) are possible to be placed and since his A2 can be used essentially every other turn (if not sooner) you wont have that one dropping off. As for heal reduction, the only times I have been placing that is if I wasnt running a poisoner and didnt care what the 10 debuff slots were filled with. Secondly, Master Hexer is not the best mastery imo because only leech and decrease healing will be affected and not the True Fear. What it does do, however, is make sure as many enemies will be under Leech for as long as possible letting him control turn meter with his A1 that hits all enemies under Leech. For CB, Spirit Haste might be better
hi, Im relativly new to the game, but i do have a question: why go “circle of violance” instead of “opportunist”? with hig acc and speed i would imagine there is a good chance to get that extra 12% dmg quite often? Similar question: why avoid the turnmeter gains for the buffs/debuffs in the support tree (“rapid response” and/or “arcane celerity”? And on the last note: wasn’t it somewhere here mentioned that with his speed and debuff turnover isn’t “master hexer” redundant/ineffective?
Ok, it was three questions, sorry 😛
I think Ma’Shalled should be higher in Magic keep. After all, he can steal all buffs on his A3, Even if he is weak affinity.
@xii127: I have updated Ma’Shalled masteries. It now has 3 sections of masteries (All Rounder, Arena, Speed Tune for Clan Boss).
Has his masteries been redone since the newest update? I see the comments below asking for updated masteries. I just got him and want to make sure he has the best skills!
Can I also recommend Immunity set on him for Arena. Prevents first turn shenanigans from hegemon and others..
Should be 5 stars in force keep. He has no problems soloing it. The extra turn from the A2 is helpful for riding out debuffs.
He doesn’t use his A3 to steal the block debuffs buff from the spirit keep boss on auto so he has problems soloing it unless you take manual control. But I guess he’s still easily worth 5 stars, just not 7/5 or 8/5.
Thank you Ayumi for all your hard work on this site. Its really helped me grow as a player. I only have one Legendary, Ma’Shallad and he is awesome. Maybe its my setup but he has solo’d campaign all the way through to Nightmare up to 2nd boss, Sewers of Arnoc.
Hey! Please review this champion. I truly believe he should be 5* everywhere except potentially spiders, but even then he’s incredibly useful. Also, I believe you have an issue showing the books for his A3. Booking that skill brings 20% more debuff chance, not 20% more damage. I truly appreciate all that you do on this site, so please keep it up!
Will there be an update on the masteries/rating/builds for the mighty Salad? He was buffed and seems to be decent now.
One of the best champs now, only A tier?! Pls check again.
Plarium buffed him already ? I just want to post and leaded to a page with truck checking, such annoying task, complete it lead me to a dead post, still not post yet, have to check truck again ?
Gotta agree with hcd on most of his points. Your rating on this particular champ are inaccurate.
Hi, i would rate it everywhere 5 Stars, maybe except Spider, even for UNM CB with the right Gear 🙂
You want Opportunist on him for 12% extra damage against fear targets. Also Master Hexxr is a complete waste since he can use his A2 and place Leech every 2 turns with the extra turn he gets.
Your dungeon ratings are off. He can literally solo some of the keeps at least. In Spider 20 he places provides CC (fear on spiderlings), speed up and crit dmg for the group, leech for everybody to heal back up and massive AOE damage. A complete game changer.
He easily soloes Brutal campaign and some of Nightmare too. Because of him I was able to 3 star all of Nightmare campaign.
To think you’re placing him in the same tier as Cillian is pretty laughable.
Thanks Ayumi, I appreciate your work a lot 🙂
Marshmallow seems great now, but I wish he was a HP Champ. Now there’s this dilemma if to build him to maximise his damage output or survivability (Clan Boss, high Dungeons stages and Arena).
What would you use him for yourself? If using him for everything wasn’t an option that is.
Thanks again.
you should update him again, watch some new clips on youtube of him, he is now able to farm on campaign nightmare and he can now do force keep 15 ALONE (full crit dmg gear & masteries), he is maybe one of the 3 best champions now, if not the best 🙂 thats what I call an real upgrade ^^
I take the f*** you plarium back xD and turn it to a thank you plarium ^^
@Jason: Never feed Epic and Legendary champions. You can feed Rare champions to make room for Epic champions. If you are a whale and maxed out all the champion slots and unable to fill in more Epics, then feed Epics rather than Legendary.
I came close to feeding this guy off.
@Marcus L. : Ma’Shalled ratings have been updated.
I guess it should get a new Rating, cause after the Buff its so good now. 🙂
@Cg: Please clear your Internet Browser cache or use (CTRL+F5 on Windows) to force clear cache to view the latest image displayed on this page 🙂
Thanks so much for the update
I don’t believe the picture of the masteries and the list of masteries match up for Ma’Shalled. Love what you do, keep it up!
@Zark79: Ma’Shalled equipment and mastery guide has been updated based on the skill revamped in Patch 1.14
Marshmallow needs some of your love, Aymui 🙂
@Richard Sean Walker: Yes, I’ll be updating Ma’Shalled.
Can we have a update
He may be good in Resist build? Cant debuff him and he will be very hard to kill. What do you think?
Yeah waiting it out a bit is good, I agree. On a side note, I think his A3 is bugged. If I steal Block Damage buff, it steals the buff then deals 0 damage to the target. Then in the arena used the A3 on Madame and stole ALL buffs, then dealt 40k with it. Kept her alive on purpose so I can use the A3 again this time Madame had no buffs to steal, did nearly 70k damage. So I think it deals damage before it steals buffs or something.
He is now pretty good for arena, really hard to kill if you can’t block buffs and still do a good damage and heal at same time
@Raayna
Maybe wait a bit? XD She is certainly working on it at the moment. You can’t evaluate the consequences of a buff in only one day, it needs testing by a lot of people (and not only Youtubers)
Personally I think he is A tier now, 5* dungeons and arena offense, maybe 3 to 4* in CB and 5* in Factions Wars and Campaign
Update on him after his buff? Along with other champs that got buffs. No updates at all
Had this guy sat in my vault for a year at 60 just reworked him for nightmare clan boss
Ran him with Altan, steel skull, occult B, julianna.
Normal i would hit 20-24million a key first 2 keys using MA’SHALLED and im over 30million on both the damage increase on altan alone was 3 million.
Leech changes and his 2 are unreal i need books! get the cooldown to 2 turns on his 2 then BOOM constant 30% speed and leech debuff
I think this guy just became a boss in FK… Can we get your thoughts on the 4/7/20 update to him?
Can we get a update for this monster right here? Hes a king in arena can solo nightmare campaign and is going to change the cb meta. Lets show him some 💘
Indeed, please do, lots of people watching on this one.
Hi!
Could you please update the info on him on you web? Thanks 🙂
What do you think of him now? Would be great to hear your opinion.
Godly in arena and dungeons now, great at controlling the waves plus he hits like a truck. Amazing rework for one of the coolest looking champs in the game!
Ma’Shalled God Tier let’s go xD
@Ayumilove Please give him a 100 stars in the Arena bc of today’s patch
will these masteries still be good for the new update?
Finally will be reworked in patch 1.14!
A1: Attacks 1 enemy, then attacks all enemies with a [Leech] debuff. Heals by 30% of damage dealt.
A2: Places a 30% [Increase SPD] and a 30% [Increase C.DMG] buff on all allies for 2 turns. Places a [Fear] and a [Leech] debuff on all enemies for 2 turns. Gains an extra turn.
A3: 80% chance to steal all buffs from target enemy, then attacks that enemy. Deals 50% more damage to targets without buffs. Places a 100% [Heal Reduction] debuff on the target for 2 turns. Places two 15% [Continuous Heal] buffs on this champion for 3 turns.
Boom, can’t wait!
He is a nice addition to my collection.
I will place him right next to my shamrock.
Anybody knows why he is a legendary hero……what he is good for…….only one stars everywhere
Seems like he’s good for SK15 since you get a guaranteed 100% Heal Reduction debuff on your enemy. That’s all he seems good for though, I pulled like 3 shit or bad tier legendaries in a row, unlucky.
Finally got my first legendary after 5 mounts… and than I see he totally sucks xD f*** you plarium xD
