Sydax King Killer Champion Lore Synopsis

Sydax was not born a conqueror. As a child, he lost his parents to a political murder and was dragged into slavery, where cruelty shaped every part of his life. Endless suffering hardened him into a fierce and determined survivor whose strength reached beyond physical power alone. Over time, his sharp mind and commanding presence earned the loyalty of fellow slaves, including captives from distant lands who saw hope in him. When the opportunity finally arrived, Sydax led a violent rebellion against their masters, slaughtering those who had tormented them and breaking the chains that had ruled their lives for years.

After winning their freedom, the survivors begged Sydax to remain their leader. He gathered them into a mercenary force known as the Horned Band, a ruthless company feared for its endurance and savage discipline. The horrors they had shared created a bond no hardship could break. Sydax dreamed of becoming more than a wandering sellsword. He wanted power, land, and a throne of his own. His warriors believed in him completely, convinced that fate itself pushed him toward greatness. As the Band grew stronger and richer, Sydax moved far from the reach of his former masters and settled near the border of Aravia, boldly declaring himself a prince despite the hatred of neighbouring nobles.

His claim to power soon faced a deadly challenge when the High Elves of Aravia launched an invasion into his territory. The campaign was commanded by King Hatharil himself, a ruler famed for strength and pride. Sydax eagerly awaited the clash, but he refused to rush into battle. Instead, he allowed the invading army to wear itself down inside the dangerous Durham Forest. The High Elves struggled through tangled roots and disease ridden swamps while monstrous creatures harassed them day and night. Exhaustion slowly weakened their once proud army as Sydax prepared his trap.

When the time was right, Sydax unleashed repeated ambushes that drove the High Elves into fury. Eventually, the invaders attacked the Horned Band across the shallow Greenwhorl River. Sydax and his soldiers endured six brutal assaults despite being heavily outnumbered. Even as they were forced backwards, the retreat only tightened their formation and strengthened their defence. Their morale never cracked. Sydax himself fought while drenched in blood, his armour shattered and his shield ruined, yet he showed no fear and no sign of surrender.

Desperate to secure victory, King Hatharil personally led the final charge, believing Sydax was close to death. Sydax cleverly encouraged the King’s confidence, defending himself with weak looking strikes while waiting for the perfect moment. As Hatharil became tired and careless, Sydax suddenly drove the horn of his helm through the King’s royal breastplate, killing him before both armies. The High Elves retreated with their ruler’s body, but the journey home became a nightmare as the surviving soldiers were hunted down within Durham Forest. Only a handful returned to witness Princess Eva take the throne. Sydax emerged victorious, and even his bitter enemies could no longer deny his power, earning him the feared title of King Killer.
