Cheshire Cat Champion Lore Synopsis
The story unfolds in the aftermath of the Second Great War, a cataclysm that left the land of Teleria drenched in blood and ruin. Amidst the chaos, a Demonspawn known as the Cheshire Cat—Khessyrkit—decided to abandon his allegiance to Siroth, the Shadow God. This feline-like creature, notorious for his sly grin and whimsical nature, had once served Siroth faithfully, sowing terror across the lands. However, Khessyrkit’s disinterest in the constant battles and the infernal politics of Anathraad set him apart from other Demonspawn, making his eventual defection less surprising to those who knew him.
Banished to the hellish plane of Anathraad, Khessyrkit adapted to his new reality by becoming a spy-for-hire. His ability to turn invisible and teleport made him an invaluable informant among the scheming Demons. Everything changed with the Sin of Dragons, a dark event that allowed Demons to inhabit the bodies of Telerian captives. Taking over the form of a Dragonkin, Khessyrkit transformed into a fearsome hybrid resembling a spined lizard-tiger, retaining his cunning and signature grin. Armed with his new body, he returned to Teleria, wreaking havoc on its inhabitants and growing infamous for his bloody campaigns during the Second Great War.
Despite his newfound strength, Khessyrkit grew weary of Siroth’s endless battles and oppressive rule. His boredom and frustration culminated in his permanent defection from Siroth’s cause. Hunted by Lightbringers who had grown adept at countering his tricks, he sought refuge in Durham Forest. There, he encountered the enigmatic Insect Lords, beings deeply entwined with the forest itself. Recognising his disillusionment with Siroth, they offered him a new purpose: to serve them in their quest to protect Teleria from the Shadow God’s schemes. With full autonomy and respect for his cunning, Khessyrkit found their offer too compelling to refuse.
Centuries later, the Insect Lords entrusted Khessyrkit with a vital mission. They tasked him with recovering stolen knowledge and treasures from the elusive Queen of Hearts. To aid his quest, they directed him to Alice the Wanderer, a Sacred Order ally who could provide crucial insights. For Khessyrkit, the mission was a thrilling game. Facing the impulsive Queen and the erratic Mad Hatter promised challenges that suited his mischievous nature and thirst for excitement.
Through his journey, the Cheshire Cat transformed from a playful servant of darkness to a cunning agent of rebellion. His allegiance to the Insect Lords, driven by shared disdain for Siroth, cemented his role as a key player in the ongoing struggle for Teleria’s fate, a creature as unpredictable as the ever-shifting tides of war.
