Sabrael the Distant Champion Lore Synopsis
Sabrael the Distant stands among the oldest beings in Teleria, a Firstborn who has existed since the world’s creation. Though she once dwelled in the flawless Halls of Eternity, she found them lifeless and unappealing. Teleria, with all its flaws, offered contrast, challenge, and a sense of dominance she greatly enjoyed. Among mortals, she felt elevated, measuring their limitations against her own perfection. This sense of superiority shaped her every action, as she viewed herself not merely as a guide, but as a being far beyond comparison.
Her disdain extended strongly toward Demons and Demonspawn, whom she regarded as crude and repulsive ever since the ancient division that set them apart. Mortals, while flawed, were still preferable in her eyes. Yet she never considered them equals. Sabrael demanded a rare balance of grace and strength, expecting discipline that appeared natural and excellence that seemed effortless. These ideals were far beyond what most could achieve, leaving mortals constantly falling short of her expectations and struggling to understand her standards.
Among all races, only the Elves came close to earning her approval. Their long lives and refined nature reflected a glimpse of the perfection she valued. As a result, she often intervened in their lands, becoming a distant protector of the High Elves. However, their admiration was not born solely from gratitude, but also from fear. Her presence inspired awe, yet her disapproval could crush even the proudest spirit. To the Dark Elves, she showed no mercy, condemning them as fallen and unworthy, treating them with harsh contempt as if they had betrayed their own heritage.
After the Great Curse, Sabrael returned as a Lightbringer and helped found the Sacred Order. Despite this, she remained detached, unwilling to involve herself in its daily direction. When the Order launched the brutal Red Crusade, her departure was swift and decisive. It was not compassion that drove her away, but disappointment. She saw humanity’s actions as reckless and base, confirming her long held doubts about their nature. In her eyes, they had revealed themselves to be even more flawed than she had believed.
When the Order pleaded for her to remain, Sabrael revealed her true form for the first time. She cast aside her restrained appearance and stood in radiant power, with vast white wings, a gleaming mask, and a scythe of otherworldly design. Her presence alone broke the will of those before her, leaving them in silent despair. From that moment onward, whenever she appeared in this form, it marked the arrival of harsh and unyielding judgement, signalling that a great conflict would soon meet its inevitable end.
