Galapo the Recluse Champion Lore Synopsis
Galapo the Recluse is one of the rare Lizardmen born with a hardened shell and the strength to endure the slow march of centuries. Though he does not age, he can still be killed by violence or disaster, and his kind are few because they reproduce slowly. Across all of Teleria, only a small number of these long lived beings exist at any one time. This rarity has shaped Galapo’s outlook, teaching him patience and restraint as he watches the world rise and fall around him.
Like his clutch brother Krisk the Ageless, Galapo has witnessed the great victories and crushing losses that have defined Teleria’s long history. Immortals are often cautious by nature, yet Galapo is especially withdrawn and reflective. He has seen how rash choices can ruin entire peoples, and so almost nothing is enough to drive him to action. Even during the Great Wars, he refused to fight, believing that if Teleria was destined to fall, he would share its fate without resistance.
Instead of taking up arms, Galapo chose the role of adviser. From the age of the Dragonkin onward, his wisdom became widely known. Living as a hermit near the city state of Velyzar, he drew visits from leaders who saw it as an honour to seek his guidance. After the Dragonkin Empire collapsed, Ramantu Drakesblood asked for his help, recognising both his insight and his practical knowledge of survival. Galapo agreed, hoping his people could learn from disaster and rebuild stronger. Yet once they settled in the Sorrowlakes, he quietly withdrew from public life again.
Many generations later, Galapo was approached by Rhazin Scarhide, one of the founders of the Gaellen Pact. Scarhide wished to prevent war with the Telerian League and sought advice on guiding the Gaellen Warclave towards peace. Galapo supported this aim, but neither he nor Scarhide were listened to. The war went ahead, long and savage, and ended in terrible ruin for the Gaellens. Bitterly disappointed, Galapo swore never again to offer counsel to younger generations who ignored hard won wisdom.
In the present age, Galapo’s strict neutrality is under strain. Figures such as the gutter prince Chaagur and the Demonspawn Lizardman Sulfuryion seek to revive the Dragonkin Empire, a future Galapo foresees as one filled with internal conflict and bloodshed. Fearing endless struggles over power, he sets out to find Krisk the Ageless. Together, the two immortals must decide whether the time has finally come to intervene in Teleria once more.
