The Calamitus Champion Lore Synopsis

The Calamitus is a nightmarish entity forged from the remnants of countless battlefields, an amalgamation of tormented souls trapped within a decaying vessel of flesh. It takes two horrifying forms: a monstrous, scythe-wielding figure clad in the trappings of the grave, and a spectral wraith crowned in iron. Regardless of its guise, the creature embodies death itself, radiating an aura of pure dread. Its scythes, inscribed with ancient sigils, seep a dark energy that spreads an unnatural mist wherever it roams, leaving terror and devastation in its wake.

The Calamitus was the brainchild of Losan K’Leth, a ruthless necromancer who sought to create the ultimate collector of souls. To bring his vision to life, he sacrificed hundreds of his most devoted followers, using their souls to bind the entity to his will. The ritual took place in a desolate tomb ground, where storms howled for days as the creature took form. It emerged from a cocoon of grave soil and burial shrouds, standing before its master as a being of pure, insatiable hunger. Though some of K’Leth’s followers were unsettled by the cost of its creation, he saw it as a necessary price for power.

Fueled by an endless craving for souls, the Calamitus became a force of destruction. It did not think, only obeyed, moving from one target to the next as directed by its master. It ravaged army camps, remote villages, and even ships lost at sea, tearing spirits from their bodies and leaving lifeless husks for K’Leth’s cult to claim. Its hunger drove it forward, ensuring that it never ceased in its grim work. Yet its existence did not go unnoticed. The sheer power unleashed by its creation sent shockwaves through the mystical realms, drawing the attention of Siroth, a formidable being who observed from afar before deciding to intervene.

Siroth saw the potential in the Calamitus and sought to take control of it, challenging K’Leth’s dominion. The two clashed in a battle of wills, each vying to command the abomination. But in the midst of their struggle, the creature itself slipped free, no longer bound to either master. Without guidance, it spiraled into madness, rampaging across the land with no purpose but to consume. Even the cultists who once revered it fell victim to its unrelenting hunger, their shrines and sanctuaries reduced to lifeless tombs.

The Calamitus’ rampage soon attracted the attention of Gariel, a Lightbringer who had chosen a life of exile. Determined to put an end to the horror, he tracked the beast to the Krokhan Desert and engaged it in a battle unlike any before. No one witnessed the fight, but legends speak of fire and thunder lighting up the sky. When the dust settled, Gariel was gone, and the Calamitus had changed. Now draped in Gariel’s scorched vestments, it rose anew with an even greater hunger, one that Siroth finally seized. With the creature now under his control, Siroth saw an opportunity to tip the scales of power in his favour. Whether the Calamitus would serve as his ultimate weapon or become something even worse remained to be seen, but one thing was certain, its hunger was far from satisfied.

Calamitus is a solid champ in a good Destroy set. I’ve had him solo FW and bosses. That 50% heal per turn is awesome and can you build him in a variety of ways, without relying on Lifesteal or a healer

  2. Robonowsky92

Man, I pulled him with the free primal shard during the 15th anniversary & immediately went to look and see if there was a guide for him if any. Looked at ASH, Hell Hades & Ayumilove’s raid content but no video could be found, so I put him in the best Lifesteal & Speed gear I had at the time. Wasn’t until recently that I happened upon a build guide video by Skratch so check him out if you are still looking for a guide to help gear him out.

Bummed there aren’t any builds for him. He can’t be all bad right?
