Diamant Coppercoin Champion Lore Synopsis

In the bustling desert city of Velyzar, fame and fortune await those brave enough to seize them, especially within its brutal fighting arenas. Yet, the city’s greatest success story isn’t about a fierce gladiator, but rather an Ogryn orphan who arrived with just a single copper coin. This orphan, known as Diamant Coppercoin, rose to unimaginable wealth and power, becoming the wealthiest man in Pehas. Known fondly as the “merchant-mogul” of Velyzar, Diamant is beloved by the people for his generosity. Frequently, he strolls through the city streets, showering the public with gold and repairing Velyzar’s infrastructure, often at his own expense. Through these benevolent gestures, Diamant has earned the city’s admiration and a lasting influence over its people.

Beneath his public kindness, however, Diamant conceals a darker ambition. From his lavish palace, he secretly controls Velyzar’s council, comprised of five guild leaders who act under his influence. Though he isn’t a formal ruler, his power is absolute. Diamant’s Corporation, a sprawling criminal syndicate, dominates Velyzari society. Corruption seeps into every corner — from rigged fights in the Arena Guild to illicit activities across the Merchant Guild. Smuggling operations, slave trading, and narcotics flow through the city’s docks, all carefully orchestrated by the Corporation’s paid-off officials. Diamant’s empire ensures every construction project and lucrative trade within Velyzar remains under his thumb, and he spares no expense to keep his grip tight.

Diamant’s authority is maintained by a combination of generous public works and merciless enforcement. While the Corporation carries out most operations independently, Diamant intervenes only when betrayal arises, quelling it swiftly with his ornate, brutal rod. Despite his true nature, the city’s citizens mostly accept his rule, valuing the stability he brings. As war rages in the neighbouring land of Anhelt, Diamant’s hold on Velyzar offers security to its people. Many view him as a protector who shields them from chaos, and his efforts to improve living conditions only strengthen his support. No rival group dares challenge him, knowing they would be crushed before gaining momentum.

Surprisingly, the tale of Diamant’s humble origins is a carefully crafted illusion. Far from a destitute orphan, he actually descends from a wealthy Ogryn family who profited by selling secrets and weapons to the Telerian League during the Gaellen War. Diamant has erased this history, replacing it with the inspiring rags-to-riches myth that he built his fortune on a single copper coin — a tale he reinforces through paid writers and journalists. This iconic coin, however, is steeped in violence, symbolising the bloodshed his ancestors’ arms deals caused, igniting conflict in the City of Dreams.

With Velyzar under his complete control, Diamant’s ambition now stretches beyond its borders. His next target is the city of Ireth, where he seeks revenge on its previous ruler, Bad-el-Kazar, for betraying him. Teaming up with the Orc warlord Gharol Bloodmaul, Diamant has been secretly supplying arms and resources to aid Gharol’s forces in their campaign. With this new alliance, Diamant dreams of expanding his empire to rule southern Peltas, seeing himself as the unchallenged force over these lands.
