Steelskull Overview
Steelskull is an Epic Support Spirit affinity champion from the Skinwalkers faction. He used to be the go-to guy for Clan Boss showdowns, dishing out poison damage like it’s going out of style. Raid players were all over him, making him the top pick for serious Clan Boss damage. But then, Raid decided to shake things up with the battle pass, introducing heavy hitters like Frozen Banshee and Occult Brawler, stealing Steelskull’s poison thunder.
But hey, don’t count Steelskull out just yet! The dude knows how to adapt. He gracefully transitioned into a support role, and let’s be real, he’s rocking it. Team heals, increase defense buffs, and a solo ally cleanse – Steelskull’s got the whole support package going on. Even though the Clan Boss scene shifted gears, he’s still a force to be reckoned with in faction wars and dungeons, especially crushing it in the Spider dungeon.

@Ayumilove The overview for Steelskull reads “still a force to be reckoned with in faction wars and dungeons, especially crushing it in the Spider dungeon”, yet he’s only rated as 4* for Spider.
It would seem that if he “crushes it” in any area, then he’d be a 5* in any area, right?

@Dan Martin: You will need to ascend Steelskull to Rank 6, then he will receive additional 7 Speed Stat to his base Speed.
Did Steelskull get nerfed? You say his base speed should be 111 and so does the index but mine only has 104.
By the time I pulled him, I already had a CB team with Frozen Banshee, who is able to load up Boss with all of the poisons to the point that they sometimes compete with the DEF/ATK down and HP burn from the rest of the team.
But just leveling him to 40 and putting him in my FW team has made a three stage difference in how far I get.
I pulled 2 of him recently, I built 1 out not booked yet, should I build the other 1 too or just use the 2nd as a book??
Luke Dennis Weese I believe you read life set as lifesteal.
The suggestion sets don’t make sense. For all it suggest speed (2) accuracy (2) and lifesteal (4).
@Thuben The support tree for SS is more about increasing the chance to land a poison initially (sniper) and then extending that poison where you extender may not prevail (master hexer). Additionally, you also need the ACC buffs when dealing with UNM clan boss. I agree that Support is definitely better here – you can avoid the turn meter masteries.
I just pulled this guy during the recent 10X Event. If I build him. it will be exclusively for NM & UNM CB. His A2 & A3 do not attack, so I see why you might not go Lifesteal for the artifacts even in CB, but wouldn’t it be smarter to go with 3 sets of Immortal or 1 Immortal & 1 Regen? I just don’t see how he stays alive long enough otherwise.
Its not about dmg or defense. But choosing the Support tree generally means that you can reduce Skill-CDs or getting Turn Meter. Both can throw a speedtuned team (which are the meta atm) out of sync.

My Steelskull deals almost double damage when using the support tree, and using Master Hexer + Sniper in particular. DO NOT follow this clan boss guide and IGNORE the defence tree.
This big guy performs much better with Support tree especially with Sniper and Master Hexer.
Do not go for defense, you will have enough defense and survivability via artifacts.
i’m starting to realize that there could be a whole set of mastery builds for those of us who use Vizier lol. dude just changes everything for other debuffers.
@Nick: It’s not referring to Steelskull applying Stun/Freeze/Sleep debuff on him. It’s referring to the enemy applying those crowd control debuff to his allies, which gives him a chance to attack the attacker. This is useful against Clan Boss (single-hit stun attack) and Arena (e.g. Tormin’s freezes).
Why deterrence? Steelskull doesn’t apply of the those debuffs unless geared for them?

Im mainly hitting brutal, about to switch to nightmare. I dont think 35% is enough to provide consistency. I really need that extra sniper 5% to make it 40. Its a world of difference for me. The amount of times I didnt hit a single posion without sniper is staggering. Also the hexer can grant me a 3 turn posion wich further gives the benefit of the support tree.
I am seeing far better CB results using the support/offense trees using this sexy beast. currently nightmare getting 7 to 8 million from him with CS
@Z: What Clan Boss Level are you currently working on that prevents Steelskull from landing Poison debuff? Steelskull is a Supportive Role champion who applies Poison for 2 of the rounds out of 4 (the remaining is Healing and Remove Debuff).
Just from my expierence guys:
I have 240 accu and I couldnt land a single posion almost on CB with defensive mastery tree against hard/brutal. Acc does not increase your percentage of landing your skill, accu is meant to just penetrate the resistance of the CB, not increase your own skill rate. Furthermore, after maxing my steelskull, the clanboss barely touched me for the majority of the rounds which again makes defensive counterattack useless. Support tree with sniper and master hexer is vastly superior.

@Heavy10mm: Steelskull has excellent support skills (heal allies and remove debuffs to allow them to survive in challenging situations). Steelskull also applies Poison debuff which is great against boss since it deals damage based on their MAX HP. In short, no matter how tanky the enemy becomes at higher difficulty stages, Poison damage will scale to the ENEMY MAX HP. Steelskull is also used in Clan Boss in early-game till end-game (Easy, Normal, Hard, Brutal, Nightmare and Ultra Nightmare). Investing in him will bring lots of benefits in the long run 🙂
What makes Steelskull “God Tier”? Abs what separates him from a garbage tier rare champion who also rates 5 Star on the clan boss? I wish I understood the game as well as you do!!!

@LazerzGoPewPew: The skill description remains atatic even though you have level up the skill with skill tomes. This has been the same behavior ever since RAID was released. It’s quite different compared to other mobile games where each time you level up the skill, the skill description updates too along with the total buff/debuff chance, damage, etc stats.
What @Wyrm’s talking about is that the skill descriptions don’t change when you book a skill up. So with NO books in that skill it’s only a 10% chance and with it FULLY booked it SHOULD say that it’s a 35% chance now if it DID update.
@Wyrm: How did you measure the success rate of the Decay’s 10% instead of 35%?
@Stanislav Kudryavcev: Thanks for highlighting the Decay skill! Plarium has increased the Buff/Debuff Chance from 5% to 10% for Level 5 and Level 6 for Decay skill. I have updated Steelskull Decay skill description accordingly.
I’ve noticed on decay, the % hasn’t increased even though I’ve maxed out the skill, I.e. still @ 10%, when it should be 35%. Know why?
