Septimus Review

Septimus is a Legendary Attack Spirit affinity champion from the Banner Lords faction in Raid Shadow Legends. He is adorned in gold-plated armor, and his very presence commands respect and admiration.

Septimus is known for his a2 ability, which deals damage based on the enemy’s maximum health, making him a fearsome foe against bosses. He holds the distinction of having the biggest nuke in the game, an attack that can decimate enemies with ease. Even when facing stage 21 content, Septimus can still pack a punch like a runaway train.

This champion has achieved world record runs in Spider, Ice Golem, and Doom Tower, proving himself to be one of the most beloved and fun legendaries in the game. His straightforward yet powerful playstyle makes him a favorite among players.

Septimus is particularly effective in Spider and Clan Boss battles, where his a2 can obliterate even the toughest of foes. His skills also come in handy in the Sand Devil dungeon, where he can leverage his Enemy MAX HP ability to deliver devastating attacks against the boss.

To truly unleash Septimus’s potential, one must carefully consider his masteries, as they can significantly impact his performance. For Clan Boss battles, one would want to focus on offensive and supportive masteries like Warmaster and accuracy. For other battles, high burst damage hits are preferred, but some players may choose consistency over power, opting for masteries like Flawless Execution over Helmsmasher.

In conclusion, Septimus is a shining star in the Banner Lords faction and a formidable champion that strikes fear into the hearts of his enemies. His abilities are straightforward yet devastating, and his impressive track record in various battles cements his place as one of the most popular legendaries in Raid Shadow Legends.

    @ayumilove
These 5* ratings seem outdated. Over time he became outranked in most areas of the game. (This is probably a case for many champs, though very obvious fall from grace for this one)

There are many champs who deal more damage now and have other skills.
With 13.7k HP and no defensive skills he is very squishy.
His speed is actually 97 (not 102) which is also awful.

I would rate him as Situational 3-4* champ with niche use for encounters like Celestial Griffin.

  2. Thrrax

@Jestafool88 If the wording accurately describes what the mastery does, then it increases damage against shielded enemies, not against enemy shields.

  3. Ayumilove Post author

@Cobra: With that stats on Septimus (4.3K Attack, 280% Critical Damage), you should be hitting around 200K damage on Ultra Nightmare Clan Boss. Ensure that the Clan Boss has the necessary debuffs such as 60% Decrease Defense and 25% Weaken with 100% up time.

  4. Cobra

Septimus is really terrible for clan boss….got him fully maxed with around 95% crit rate and 280% crit damage and 4.3k offence ..his A2 hits for 47k…not exactly great……

  5. @right

The reason for Warmaster on Septimus is that when WM procs it runs another check for Giant Killer and you can extend all debuffs twice in 1 turn.

If you’re using Septimus to extend debuffs Warmaster is incredibly valuable. If you’re using Septimus as a nuker you’ll want Helmsmasher or Flawless Execution.

  6. Jestafool88

But tell me this in the masteries 2nd row the shield breaker gives the champion a 25% bonus damage against shielded enemies. But septimus a2 ignores shield so would he still get the bonus while ignoring the shield?

  7. Jestafool88

Just curious for masteries if one would pick shield breaker to do 25% more damage to shielded enemies but septimus a2 ignores shields does he still get the bonus from the mastery?

  8. DisabledVet

I have him setup as my destroyer.

  9. right

why warmaster if everyone going helmsmasher

  10. __n0M4d__

I DONT have decent simple offense, savage, lifesteal sets…..

  11. __n0M4d__

Hi guys! Just pulled this guy from a shard. Wondering if a Swift parry + cruel, swift parry + fatal, cruel + fatal+ speed, or swift parry + speed artifacts to put on him. I have decent savage, offense, lifesteals sets right now… :/ Any suggestions maybe? Thank you very much for the help!! 😉

  12. Strawberry369

for spider sorry for not specifying.

  13. Strawberry369

I have septimus, royal guard, cold heart, armiger and madame serris. What stats should i have for a nuke strategy.

  14. Emcee

You should consider changing the StewGaming guide on him. He did another one a while later where he changes his mind and does a 180. Almost killed the excitememt i had in pulling hin

  15. Strawberry369

    yeah

  16. David

Do you need to build acc on septimus for clan boss to extend debufs?

  17. Sakinko

Hi, im wondering what im missing. I took septimus to see the spiders. And he always looses turn after the 5th kill. Couldnt find anything on this googling.

    Thanx in advance

  18. idktho

Also, for players like Ayumilove and HellHades, 2* is probably accurate for Septimus in spider, since I believe you do still need to manual him. But for the vast majority of us coming here to read about him, yeah, he’s at least 4*.

  19. idktho

@ayumilove, it might be worth deleting most of the many comments about how Septimus should be 5* for spider. Sometimes it’s probably good to keep historical comments that are less relevant now, because they used to be — but a lot of these comments are very redundant. The only one I saw from that conversation that’s obviously worth keeping is yours from February 19, 2020 at 9:09 AM. There are probably other comments on that topic that are worth keeping — particularly the one(s) you were replying to, but maybe not most of them.
(Lol you should probably also delete this comment at some point too)

  20. KG

@Askin Usta It is because he had a “Weak Hit” (Bad Affinity)

  21. ASKIN USTA

SEPTIMUS IS AN INCREDIBLE HERO, BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT. HITS ALL HEROES OVER 40K IN THE ARENA, WHILE HITS THE MAGIC HEROES WITH ONLY 7K. THIS IS VERY BAD AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED.

  22. Oleg

@ralph, as you see his A2 is based on [ATK] [Enemy MAX HP], so it scales up with attack. Also you should have critical rate at 100% and critical damage as higher as possible (minimum 250%) to get the maximum of it.

@IOSIF, with draco and 2 rg almost every set up for spider20 would work well :))))

  23. IOSIF

Best char for spider 20 …with 2 rg and a draco i do it in 12sec

  24. ralph

A bit of a basic question as I’m newish to the game, but I’ll ask it anyway… for heros like Septimus, RG, husk etc, who’s main event is their [Enemy MAX HP] damage, is there much point upranking and ascending them beyond basic survivability requirements?

I’ve just got my Elhain up 6* and the damage increase over 5* is huge. I’m trying to work out who to 6* next. For this guy, RG, and support characters that heal and buff (rather than debuff) like Mistress of Hymns, I’m not sure I see as much point as their skills are less stat-based.

  25. Misfit28

@Arian Ravel, why would you do Giant Slayer when his A1 is a single hit?

  26. LustInParadise

    @MoonBoon It’s a 2 for Fire Knight, not Spider 😉

  27. Oleg

I also disagree with low point vs spider. Levels 17-19 I passed with Badessa hitting spiderlings while Septimus kills one spiderling, resets his A2 and attack with it the Spider again.
My Septimus is not at maximum of Crit Damage because I use him also in CB and need more Defence, but he shot Spider in 3 hits following this tactic with killing spiderlings for reset.

  28. MoonBoon

W8 why is this guy a 2 in spiders?
He can one shot the spider boss.

  29. qz0r

@Brian, yes, he needs the accuracy for his passive.

@Ayumilove, I really love the info on this website. I really disagree with the rating on this champion for the spiders Den. He can 1 shot spider level 20, dealing 5m+ damage. There are so many Champions that get a 4 or even 5 star rating for spider. For example Wurlim Frostking. No way Wurlim Frostking is better at spiders than Septimus. Therefor I believe Septimus should have 4 or even 5 stars for spider. I’d say 4, because it’s really end game.
Here a video (not mine): https://youtu.be/KAP1i_jz3OU

  30. Brian

Is the accuracy to boost his passive? Otherwise I don’t see a reason to have it on him..

  31. LazerzGoPewPew

Silly question but why wouldn’t you use Shield Breaker mastery on him? I mean if he’s already ignoring shield buffs with Holy Sword, then why not turn what they thought was an advantage into a disadvantage by not only ignoring their shield (which is seen a lot more regularly with all the recently pulled Valks and Sir Nics) but turning it into an extra 25% damage?

  32. Ciprian Chirvase

    Greetings!
Do you think Septimus can make it to S tier, now that they fixed the A2 problem?

  33. Oleg

    @Bromide
I see, but for many champions there are 2 tables, so I guess here it would also make sense to divide Arena-Campaign- FW and Dungeons-CB

  34. Bromide

@Eriadör: It’s already been confirmed that Master Hexer (and Sniper) do not affect his passive.
If you are seeing a double extend this is due to Warmaster procs being classified as an “Attack” and not an “Extra Hit”. You’re seeing Warmaster trigger his passive.

@Oleg: As stated the masteries listed are for Arena, Campaign, CB, Dungeons, and FW. Meaning it’s a general use setup rather than resetting masteries every time you go into a different area of the game. As such it’s going to contain masteries that are not best used against CB, but are best used against one or more of the other areas of the game.

  35. Oleg

    @Ayumilove
I think that your masteries are more relevant for campaign/arena battles, but not CB. For example Whirlwind of death has nothing to do with CB as well as Ruthless ambush, so on Attack T3 it’s better to use Single out and Life Drinker.
In defense tree T2 makes more sense to go with Blastproof and rejuvenation than improved parry.
On T5 works better if replace Kill Streak (att) for Deterrence (def), so there are more chances for additional attacks.

  36. Eriadör

@Ayumilove Master Hexer works with his passive, increasing debuff duration by two, although its only 30% over 30%. This might be better than retribution on the long run if you manage to get those procs which sets Support Tree as a very viable one on CB.

  37. Ayumilove Post author

@Aeron: This means you will need to manual Septimus every time you play Spider’s Den, which is not efficient in the long run. At higher level dungeons 15~20, it will be quite difficult for Septimus to kill the Spiderlings with his A2 skill because the Spiderlings has higher Defense and HP stats.

  38. Aeron

Though I saw that Septimus has 2 stars for Spider’s Den, but you can actually use his skill 2 at every turn by killing a little spider, so you can deal like 200K damage every turn with it. It’s pretty powerful so I’ d recommend putting 5 stars for this dungeon aswell instead of 2.

  39. Aeron

@Amuro the passive still works with warmaster at the moment

  40. Amuro

Sorry I have another question. I heard his passive also procs from warmaster, so there could be chance to proc twice in a turn. However some said it got nerfed in 1.12. Do have more info?

  41. Ayumilove Post author

@Amuro: Septimus is quite powerful in Arena because he delivers devastating single-hit damage. I encountered him few times as the opponent champion, and he usually 1 hits KO my champion if it’s the weaker affinity. I would recommend you not to heavily rely on his passive skill. Septimus is similar to Dhamphir (Uncommon) and Relickeeper (Epic) as he keeps gaining Extra Turn whenever he kills the enemy champion. This is Septimus’s ace and you need to build his masteries and equipment around this skill. See the guide above as reference when building him.

  42. Amuro

Thanks Ayumilove. I just got a Septimus and lvl to 50. During Brutal CB fights, at most the passive proc 3-4 times. I am not sure if this champion is of any use and should I lvl him to 60.

  43. Ayumilove Post author

@Amuro: Septimus passive skill “Giant Killer” does not benefit from “Sniper” mastery as it only increases the success rate of inflicting a debuff (e.g. Weaken, Decrease Defense, Decrease Speed, etc). Increasing Debuff duration effect is not a debuff (no debuff icon shown with debuff duration). It’s more of a direct/instant effect applied to a target champion, similarly to Decrease Turn Meter.

  44. Amuro

Will Sniper from Support tree increase the % of his passive?

  45. Ayumilove Post author

@Tobi: It is not necessary to go with Support Mastery Tree if you can get sufficient Accuracy stats from equipment for Septimus.

  46. Tobi

Hey there. Many People said to me now, that he needs Acc for his passive. If so i would recommend to go for the Support tree instead!

  47. Ayumilove Post author

@Michael: Thanks for your input! I have updated Septimus’s mastery guide to build around his skills.

  48. Ayumilove Post author

@SirBors: Thanks for your input! I have updated Septimus’s equipment guide to include Accuracy into the stat priority.

  49. SirBors

It looks like all the online guides are building him with accuracy as a high importance stat for CB. His Debuff extension depends on it somehow.

  50. Michael

With this character you chose Single Out. Yet it seems that Ruthless Ambush is better for him. With the increased damage on first attack in increases the odds of a kill and thus a free turn.
