Retainer Storyline
The Retainer is a fiercely loyal warrior in the service of one of the ancient and noble Dark Elven houses. Sworn to service until death or dismissal, he wields a blade crafted in the forges of Fire Knight’s Keep, and quenched in the blood of orcs – a blade he is honor-bound to fall upon should his Lord die in battle. Like all in service to his master’s house, his armor and hair are dyed a bold azure – a sign of the unbreakable faith in his liege. A master swordsman, the Retainer also possesses the elven gift of hypnosis.
Er ist ein epic-Held und kein Rare
I have just started building my retainer I will let you know how he works when I get in belts he seems to be pretty good so far I’m working on getting masteries done right now. Yes I’m trying to get into four star silver stuck in three all the time so maybe he’ll get me there once I get him built if anybody has a good idea of what gear to use on him I went by what it says up above but if you have a specific set you used that works great let me know please.
I can kind of echo what Slayer and the others said – this guy works very well for me as a F2P player. I only have the first 3 masteries (thank you Ayumi~!) and I only have him ranked and ascended to 4 stars. However he outlasts everything in Clan Boss (easy and normal mode, I’m still fairly low) including my level 50 fully ascended Deliana (which is my only Legendary on that account, and heaviest hitter,) by at least 2 hits. As previously stated he can last pretty well in Arena up into silver, where it’s often him and Deliana and it’s pretty frequent that she dies and he finishes them. This is most likely due to his being void and having counterattack, as previously mentioned.
I have him in Avenging and Speed, so he counterattacks more often. I find that the mobs *not* attacking is a benefit, as he survives longer, and all AoEs trigger his counterattack from the gear even when his A2 is on cooldown. People below are saying Tayrel and Arminger are better, but for those of us who haven’t pulled those yet, this guy seems quite solid. Also, I only have 4 books on him and 3 are in his A3 which rarely procs the sleep, and when it does half the time they resist so the sleep seems weak, but it does a solid hit and the Turn Meter reduction by 50% is useful, especially in Arena Offence. I’d say for early to mid game players, he’s worth putting some effort into, if for no other reason than to ram through some levels and get the better champs he’s being compared to.
I just came here to praise this guy and saw that I already did two months ago. To add to what I previously wrote, I definitely think he is under-rated. He should be level B minimum but I would even put him in the A Team. Definitely a very strong champion and only a Rare, amazing. Stronger than many Epics I have come across and he even takes out Legos.
I’ve had this guy from nearly day 1 and he has always been one of the strongest players against everything so far. I have him in Regeneration and Perception, 6* fully booked. Many times in the arena he has been last man standing as he heals magnificently and keeps going. He has been one against four and my heart sinks as I assume he will get killed. Not always, he can continue to take out all four on his own if you play him right. I will use him for a long time to come. A good tactic to get him hitting more is his A2, then he responds to every hit in addition to his own hits. He can get in 4-6 hits every turn alongside the rest of the team. Nice.
Poor guy wants to be Tayrel. But his cooldown on TM reduction is too long, and his DEF down is only the 30% version. By the time I pulled him I had Tayrel and a host of others that did stuff better.
Amiger still wins for straight up TM reduction in Spider, and for having a Emeny Max HP damage ability.
I love the looks, and the skillset seems useful, but honestly I haven’t had much success with him (used on Faction wars).
Being Void means that enemy rarely attack him, since there’s no affinity advantage.
He uses his counter early, so healing is wasted, and nobody attacks him because of the counter (again), basically a lost turn.
His attacks are 1-hit, and despite having good debuffs they’re basically meaningless or don’t change much the tide of a battle, since everyone else is hitting AoEs or multi-attacks.
I guess he’s useful mostly against bosses, or maybe Arena, but for battles against lots of opponents or waves of enemies, he’s not of much use really (or at least it didn’t worked for me)
@Salman Mahmoud
The Spider (and Spiderlings) don’t attack heros with a counterattack buff (but they do attack heros with a Retaliation set or innate-passives-mastery counters), so you’ll be wasting a valuable skill.
His A3 reduces turn, it’s ok, but it has a 5 turn (4 if booked) cooldown, while Armiger reduces 30% on A1 (regular attack), basically almost every turn (and since Sleep doesn’t works on bosses, you’ll be also wasting another skill)
Lastly, Armiger’s A2 can destroy the Spider since it does damage based on the Spider’s health, something Retainer doesn’t has.
Most under rated champ I will use him in endgame spiders. If armiger is good for spider why not retainer
I am glad I saw the comments below as I was going to sideline him.
As far as I have him equipped at the moment he hasbeen extremely effective.
Absolutely under-rated here. Arena defense especially. I’ve had half my team drop to a rough crit nuke, the 3rd go down after 1 turn, and Retainer still win the fight. His 2nd ability, especially when booked, let’s him heal while remaining on the offense, and his 3rd skill does solid damage AND turn reduction AND a round of sleep if you time it right for high risk attackers. Carried my team for a long time and still gets slotted in over half my legendaries.
So pulled this guy at the start on my alt account, so made it into my team and now he is by far that accounts best champ, at level 50 he single handedly 3 stars brutal campaign and can can get to arena silver 2 on his own, (stun, freeze etc are to common after that for a single champ).
I can often take 4x level 50 legendarys and epics in arena.
I also just noticed I only have him half booked so still room for improvement.
He has 2x speed sets and a divine life set (which will prob change to def set when I get some 5* with decent rolls)
So in short I think people massively underestimate this guy. Especially for f2p.
All the above is done with 5 masteries, so the only way is up.
Thank you very much 🙂
