Varkos Headsplitter Overview

Varkos Headsplitter is a Force-affinity Legendary Defense champion of the Dark Elves, a towering executioner whose brutal armor, horned helm, masked face, and enormous two-handed axe make his allegiance to violence unmistakable. Yet beneath the image of a simple brute lies a calculating servant of the Insect Lords, driven by arrogance, ambition, and an unwavering belief that strength grants the right to rule. His kit reflects that philosophy perfectly: Varkos becomes more dangerous when fighting alongside allies or answering enemy attacks, turning retaliation into a weapon of execution. With powerful DEF-scaling attacks, self-buffs, Counterattack, Extra Turn access, and anti-revival utility, he is best viewed as a highly aggressive Defense champion who can punish enemies through repeated team attacks and counterstrikes.

His passive, Instrument of Power, is the engine behind his unique playstyle. Varkos has a chance to join an ally’s attack, with that chance becoming significantly higher when the attacking ally is a Dark Elf. Whenever he joins an attack, he uses his Murderous Fighter (A2), rather than his basic skill, and gains an enhanced triple-hit version of the attack. This creates a particularly potent synergy with teams that generate frequent ally attacks, especially Dark Elf compositions. The passive also gives his execution potential real permanence: enemies killed by Varkos while he is counterattacking or joining an ally attack cannot be revived. As a result, he can be especially valuable against teams that rely on revival mechanics, provided he can secure the finishing blow through the appropriate trigger.

Murderous Fighter (A2) is also an excellent answer to defensive buffs, as its attacks ignore both Block Damage and Shield effects. This gives Varkos a way to pressure enemies who would normally survive through powerful protection, while the triple-hit version dramatically increases his chances of securing a kill. Meanwhile, Hulking Killer (A1) ignores Unkillable, making it useful against champions who rely on that buff to survive lethal damage. When Varkos counterattacks, this skill becomes a three-hit strike, allowing his retaliation setup to serve as both a defensive deterrent and a genuine kill threat. Together, these skills give him a broad collection of answers to common survival mechanics, making him far more versatile than his imposing appearance might suggest.

The centerpiece of his active rotation is Brutish Dominance (A3), which grants Varkos Increase DEF, Counterattack, and Shatter before immediately giving him an Extra Turn. This single skill prepares him to survive, retaliate, and attack again without surrendering momentum. The Counterattack is particularly important because it activates his enhanced offensive behavior and can enable his anti-revive passive. He is therefore an excellent partner for Dark Elf teams built around frequent attacks, with allies such as Haggibah the Nestmaid naturally fitting his faction-based synergy. Whether used to dismantle protected targets, punish attackers, or permanently remove enemies who depend on revival, Varkos Headsplitter brings the cold, ruthless efficiency of a true Dark Elf executioner to both PvE encounters and PvP battles.

Instrument of Power (Passive)
Has a 15% chance to join an attack whenever an ally attacks an enemy. The chance increases to 25% when an ally from the Dark Elves Faction attacks. Enemies killed by this Champion whenever they counterattack or join in an ally’s attack cannot be revived.

Varkos Headsplitter is a feared Dark Elf whose towering strength is matched by his arrogance and ruthless ambition. He believes that those who are weak deserve their suffering, while his own victories are proof of his superiority. From childhood, Varkos claimed to have been chosen by the mysterious Insect Lords, powerful beings he worships without question. He proudly serves their will, carrying a massive two handed axe as a symbol of both his personal might and their authority. To him, the Insect Lords are the only power worthy of respect, and he sees himself as their chosen champion destined to spread their influence across the world.

Although renowned for his immense physical power, Varkos is far more than a simple brute. Beneath his intimidating appearance lies a cunning and calculating mind. He is willing to deceive, betray, and manipulate anyone if it helps him achieve victory. A small blade carried behind his waist openly reflects his readiness to strike allies or enemies alike when it suits his interests. His cruel nature and relentless desire to dominate make him an ideal servant for the Insect Lords, who value strength, ambition, and absolute loyalty above all else.

One of the Insect Lords that had made its home within Haggibah chose Varkos as a protector and enforcer. The creature reached out to him through a fever dream that lasted for hours, speaking with a voice that sounded like countless ants marching across the forest floor. Filled with excitement after receiving this vision, Varkos immediately travelled towards the borders of Durham. He eagerly embraced the task of helping spread the power of the Insect Lords into the distant Mistwood. There, he believed, their webs and monstrous presence would establish unquestioned dominance over the land.

At the edge of Durham, Varkos waited patiently for six days and six nights until the Nestmaid arrived. Without exchanging a word, the two departed together and journeyed to the Mistwood. Upon arrival, they encountered the Corruption for the first time. The sight filled Varkos with fury and hatred. He threw himself into battle, slaughtering corrupted beasts and maddened Sylvan whose veins had turned crimson. Amid the chaos, he witnessed Talenna Soulseer fighting against the spreading darkness alongside her Sylvan companions.

Varkos already despised High Elves, and Talenna quickly became the target of his rage. When Haggibah ordered her death, he attacked without hesitation. His strength proved overwhelming, and he soon gained the upper hand, preparing to split the High Elf from head to toe. Before he could deliver the killing blow, however, a mysterious Undead warrior later known as Vallaryn the Equalizer intervened and blasted him aside. Enraged but unable to continue, Varkos retreated alongside Haggibah. Undeterred by the setback, he accepted her new plan. While Haggibah focused on completing her mission and bringing forth the Insect Lord she carried, Varkos was tasked with hunting down both Talenna and the Undead champion who had denied him victory.
