Can’t believe Hound Spawn & Hellfang is still slept on, especially for Dreadhorn in DT!

Couple updates on my last post :
Tried different builds and… NO, Hound Spawn is NOT worth using on his own… But yes, he’s 100% worth keeping and leveling/upgrading. Got Hellfang now (yay!) but I’m so glad I already had Hound ready to go, fully “booked” (with duplicates from farming Brimstone Path, obviously; NEVER ACTUAL TOMES, for anyone out there who’s new).

The Hellfang + Hound Spawn duo is STILL underrated. I do see others comments mentioned arena, and with all the OP champions in the roster now IDK if this duo is still viable past bronze, BUT! As I said before it’s a little crazy no one is talking about Doom Towers!
Hellfang’s AoE freeze is perfect for dealing with Bommal’s bombs, but Hound Spawn —unlike so many other partner champs in Raid— pulls his own weight and actually brings something to the table with his nuke.

And although Hound needs Hellfang on the team for this skill, it works with any freeze; if needs be you can bring a second freeze champ (e.g.: Preserver who only has a single-target freeze but it’s 75% chance) to make up for Hellfang’s 50% chance, and still make the most of Hound’s ignore Def/Block-Dmg.

Even as someone who spends on the game, I don’t have the most OP champions, so viable rares are a Godsend. But especially if you’re a free player I think these 2 are very F2P-friendly.

Any suggestions on artifacts & accessories?

In the video, StewGaming has Hound Spawn equipped with a Relentless set (with crit gauntlets) and a Speed set, but he also mentions that his first instinct was to run a Savage set.

Sadly, I don’t have Hellfang yet, but I still want to use this guy. Considering this is one of those champions like Diabolist who we all have a million copies of, I figured why not try him out

  3. Noobstar

I use him in my arena team serris to strip all buffs and hellfang to freze hond spawn bom

    100K+ damage !

  4. Noobstar

I use him in my platinum arena team both in offence & defense, I use no aura lead Serris to strip buf bloc debuff + Hellfang to freeze + Houndspawn to completele ignore all enemies defenses and he is doing 120k damage then to survive I use Vogoth, and LOL I mantain my platinum rank from about three months LOL Hounspwn the bease beast!

  5. Terry

it turns out. His damage is pretty good. Especially his A2.
He’s definitely not a great champion.
But, skillups are so common, and he hits fairly hard with that a2, and A1 isn’t terrible either.
Build for faction wars if you just wanna have cheap and easy damage.

  6. Nova

    No mastery suggestions

  7. Daniel

I will use StewGaming’s video that he posted today on his channel for Hound Spawn + Hellfang to setup mine (artifacts, masteries, etc.) 🙂

They are good in FW and Fire Knight

  8. Vlad

Very underestimated champ – his power really good in combo with Hellfang. If You set speed properly right after Hellfang and huge crit damage – it will be simply mass murder hit his A3
    BTW just for info:
Scale damage of this champ with no books:
    A1 – 2.85*atk
    A2 – 2.25*atk (2 hits)
    A3 – 2.0*ark AoE

Scale damage of Hellfang with no books:
    A1 – 2.5*atk
    A2 – 4.0*atk
    A3 – 3.0*atk AoE

  9. WayUpInYa

This is the equivalent of getting candy corn in your Halloween bag…a complete waste of space.

  10. Mr. Wrar

@Ayumilove – Could you add the hyperlink to Hellfang in the description for Shatttering Strike? Such as you have for quickly viewing Hound Spawn from Hellfangs page.

  11. Neil B Steinwand

yeah.. seems like 3 star food or maybe a faction team without others

  12. Jaraldyne

I think the disappointing part is it’s only for one round. If this guy goes right before the bad guy, it’s useless. And it’s with a 3 round cooldown.

  13. Murderwolf

I would think a 60% decrease defense debuff would be pretty valuable. I guess not.
