Vallaryn the Equalizer Overview
Vallaryn the Equalizer is a Magic-affinity Legendary Attack champion from the Undead Hordes, a long-dead Aravian philosopher returned to undeath with his belief in balance transformed into an unbreakable purpose. His gaunt, corpse-like face, ancient blue-and-gold robes, layered ornaments, and elaborate scrolls give him the appearance of a forgotten mystic who has traded mortal life for cold calculation. Even his floating shards of blue energy suggest a sorcerer manipulating the scales of battle rather than simply overwhelming foes with brute force. Vallaryn fills a versatile damage-dealer role, combining powerful single-target attacks with AoE debuffing, self-healing, enemy-healing suppression, and a unique passive that turns enemy recovery against them.
His Violent Harmony (A1), is far more useful than a basic attack. Vallaryn strikes the same enemy twice, healing himself for a portion of the damage from each hit while having a chance to apply a powerful Heal Reduction debuff. This makes him particularly valuable against enemies that rely heavily on healing, while his passive, My True Purpose, adds another layer of punishment: whenever an enemy is healed by a skill, Vallaryn can counterattack once per turn with his A1. Against healing-focused bosses and encounters such as the Nether Spider, the Mimic, or Amius, this gives him a way to keep applying pressure even outside his normal turn. His passive also helps him recover from heavy enemy attacks by reducing one skill’s cooldown when a single enemy skill removes a significant portion of his HP, allowing him to turn punishment into faster access to his abilities.
His Precise Intervention (A2), attacks every enemy and has a chance to apply both Weaken and Leech. The combination is excellent for wave content: Weaken increases the damage enemies take, while Leech allows allies to restore HP by attacking affected targets. Vallaryn therefore works especially well alongside champions who can apply AoE Decrease DEF, creating a strong debuff foundation for the entire team. His Outcome Assured (A3), is his defining execution tool. Before striking twice, Vallaryn cleanses all debuffs from himself and swaps HP with the target, creating a dramatic risk-and-reward mechanic. He naturally ignores part of the target’s DEF, but when his HP is higher than the enemy’s, the attack becomes significantly stronger by ignoring more DEF and bypassing Shields. This makes target selection crucial: attacking a wounded enemy can improve the HP exchange, while choosing a healthier target when Vallaryn is already in better condition can maximise the attack’s defensive penetration.
Vallaryn is best suited to teams that can control enemy healing, establish AoE debuffs, or help him maintain a favourable HP advantage before using Outcome Assured. AoE Decrease DEF champions are natural partners for his Weaken and Leech setup, while allies that can protect or sustain him help preserve the HP difference required for his strongest A3. His 28% All Battles ATK Aura further strengthens damage-focused teams, making him a flexible progression champion who can contribute across wave content, boss encounters, and specialised fights where healing and Shields are major obstacles.

Vallaryn the Equalizer Champion Lore Synopsis
Vallaryn the Equalizer lived in Aravia many centuries ago, where he devoted himself to the Harmony Divinity, a belief that Light and Dark were meant to exist together in balance. While most Aravians rejected anything that appeared to favour the forces of Darkness, Vallaryn believed that neither side should ever completely overcome the other. His views made him an outsider, with many people treating him with suspicion or even accusing him of disloyalty. Forced to live in poverty alongside others who shared his beliefs, Vallaryn grew bitter at the unfair treatment, yet he never abandoned his conviction that balance alone could preserve the world.
When the First Great War erupted, Vallaryn became convinced that endless conflict would only bring ruin. Instead of taking up arms, he organised a small movement that quietly resisted the war effort. His followers sabotaged weapons, crippled war horses, and encouraged ordinary people to refuse participation in the fighting. Their actions lasted for several months before the authorities uncovered the group. Vallaryn was arrested, condemned for treachery, and executed. His body was discarded in an unmarked grave along the borders of Aravia, where it remained forgotten until the Scourge of Darkness restored him as one of the Undead.
Although much of his mortal life faded from memory after his return, one purpose remained clear. Vallaryn became driven by an unwavering desire to preserve balance at any cost. During the Second Great War, he secretly influenced both sides rather than serving either one. Before acting, he carefully weighed every possible consequence, considering how even the smallest decision could reshape future events. Removing an incapable commander or delaying an army by damaging its supply animals could change the outcome of entire campaigns. He gained no satisfaction from these actions, believing they were simply necessary while others refused to seek peace.
When Kurosa the Covetous launched an invasion into eastern Peltas, Vallaryn deliberately chose not to interfere. He believed the situation had become so finely balanced that even a single action from him might produce disastrous results. His attention later shifted to the spreading Corruption within the Mistwood. At first, he trusted the Sylvan to contain the threat and remained an observer. However, as the Corruption continued to spread, he realised that it could eventually overwhelm them if left unchecked.
The heart of the growing danger lay within the lands ruled by Rhaia the Mourned, whose Corrupted power spread destructive energy throughout the forest. Vallaryn concluded that she had to be destroyed before the Corruption consumed even more of the land. Yet Rhaia had become far too powerful for him to face alone. He sought the help of her son, Folan Silverhart, hoping they could end the threat together, but Folan also fell to the Corruption. Even so, Vallaryn sensed that a small spark of hope still remained within the Elf. Lacking the strength to restore him himself, Vallaryn turned to Talenna Soulseer, believing that together they could briefly free Folan from the Corruption, defeat Rhaia, and stop the darkness consuming her domain.

@John MacArthur: Those 3 blessings that you mentioned are solid choices for Vallaryn. I have already added my recommendation in the table section above.
Are there any suggested team compositions for this champion?
Vallaryn Blessing?
I chose Crushing Rend. Other possibilities, perhaps:- Brimstone or Nature Wrath.
His main build should accuracy due to heal reduction, leach and all other debuffs. ATK multipliers are so bad like he is rare and bad rare champ.
I have gone an Atk/Sup layout so far to 50 & that has played out fairly well thus far. Building him as an Amius Champ hopefully, geared in DevineSpeed; lv/44, speed/102, 15000+ Hp, 1397 Atk. Work In Progress :)-
A legendary champion that is seemingly only good for three targets in the Doom Tower and maybe Fire Knight and Dragon in the dungeon?
Almost a food target!
What is the Mastery Build for Vallaryn please?
I’m five points shy of 950 3 points Undead /2 points Shadow. I was looking for that last piece of undead clan and I hoped it would be Vallryn
Wondering what the Mastery Build is like for this Champion?
