Below is a reference of the artifacts equipped on Vergis specialized for Doom Tower Hard against Borgoth the Scarab King. This setup can also be used in Arena and Faction Wars too. Vergis is equipped with Destroy Set to enable him to destroy the Scarab King’s shield that mitigates a portion of the damage received. Destroy Set is also excellent against champions who have a high amount of HP (Health aka Hit Points) and fast HP recovery. The equipment prioritizes high HP%, DEF%, C.RATE, RESIST and SPD stats. HP% stat allows Vergis to generate a large shield to protect himself whenever he is under attack. DEF% stat allows Vergis to increase his overall damage output and decreases the damage intake from enemy attacks. RESIST stat provides Vergis protection against any debuff placed by the enemies and also prevents them from performing instant negative effect on him such as stealing his buffs. C.RATE stat enables Vergis to deal higher amount of damage to clear the waves and boss quickly!
Vergis Review
Raid Shadow Legends – Vergis is an Epic Spirit Defense champion from the High Elves faction where he can be obtained from Ancient Shards and Sacred Shards.
Vergis Purpose
- Vergis excels as a tank in protecting allies in battle. He has a skill called “Aegis”, which applies Ally Protection buff to all allies to mitigate a portion of the damage from them to himself. It also buffs the targeted ally (the champion in the Leader Position) with Continuous Heal and Increase Speed buff.
- Vergis is able to tank/absorb high amount of damage with the help of his passive skill called “Second Wind”. This allows him to replenish his shield whenever he loses a portion of his HP. It also instantly applies a Continuous Heal buff on himself whenever his HP drops below 50%.
- He excels against multi-hit attacking Champions but terrible against Champion who deals large burst of damage as it does not activate the shield multiple time. Therefore, he is not well suited as defender against Speed Nuke Team in Arena or enemy’s attack that can bypass shield.
- He can play the role as Tank Bait in Spider’s Den (Force Affinity Dungeon to provoke Spiderling) as his shield can mitigate the damage from Spiderling’s attack. To counter Spiderling’s Poison debuff, equip him with gear that has high Resist stat.
- Vergis is an excellent solution for Doom Tower Scarab King as his passive skill auto applies Shield buff whenever he takes damage. This essentialy prevents triggering the Scrarab King counter attack passive skill. You can run 2 Vergis to support one another with Continuous Heal buff and gear both of them with Destroy Set to break Scarab King shield quickly. It’s advisable to have them with decent amount of Resist stat to prevent buff being stolen and provoked by the boss.
Vergis Synergy
- Vergis pairs well with tanky champions (e.g. Miscreated Monster) to 3-Star Normal-Hard-Brutal-Nightmare Campaign stages as both of them can wear down the enemy with their massive Defense, HP and High Recovery speed.
- Vergis pairs well with Crowd Control champion (e.g. Alure) to tackle Normal-Hard-Brutal-Nightmare Campaign Bosses.
- In addition, he is excellent in Fire Knight Dungeon, Minotaur’s Labyrinth and Clan Boss Speed Team Setup where he protects the champion in the Leader Position who is critical to the team (e.g. Champion Reviver such as Arbiter or a Team Buffer such as Apothecary).
Vergis Limitation
- If Vergis HP drops below 50% and his Continuous Heal does not heal him above 50%, his passive skill “Second Wind” will not be able to activate again! This can happen if multiple enemy target him to quickly reduce his HP before the Continuous Heal replenishes his HP above 50%.
- To mitigate this limitation, I highly recommend using Lifesteal Set on him. I have experimented various sets such as Regeneration Set and Immortal Set, but they do not outperform Lifesteal Set in replenishing HP in the heat of battle (e.g. 2 champions solo Nightmare Campaign).
- Vergis’s shield does not auto-recover when he receives damage from protecting his allies with Ally Protection buff! Hence, if you are using him for Borgoth the Scarab King in Doom Tower either Easy or Hard mode, it’s advisable to only have 2 Vergis to defeat the boss. However, you can use high damage output champions such as Seer to clear the 1st and 2nd wave quickly for the Scarab King mob waves, which primarily consists of Krisks that provides a large amount of Shield, Continuous Heal and Ally Protection. The champion helpers would need to be sufficiently squishy to die quickly from Scarab King’s counterattack or else it will steal Vergis’s allies buffs.
- If you have a duplicate champion of Vergis, you can team 2 of them (without any other champions to fill the remaining 3 vacant champion slots) to defeat the Doom Tower Boss Borgoth the Scarab King on full auto! This is the only champion who can do it easily without needing to set up a team of 5 champions with the speed tuning, ensuring they have shield all the time and decreasing the turn meter of the boss to prevent him from stealing your champion buffs and counter-attacking those who do not have shield buff.
Vergis Champion Lore
Vergis’ life is one of service, a path he follows no matter the dark places it leads him. A ruthless commander of the Aravian armies currently fighting against the Kingdom of Kaerok, he has built his identity around service to the Aravian crown, and has cast aside anything that he considers to be a distraction to his duties.
Vergis’ original name was Aelmar and he was born to a noble High Elf family with connections through the Aravian court. His father was a senior officer in the Aravian army, while his mother had been childhood friends with Queen Eva herself.
High station brought benefits to Aelmar in his early years, but it could not shield his family from ill fortune. His father was killed during a skirmish with Dark Elves near the borders of Durham Forest. Soon after his mother contracted festerlung, the disease leaving her weak and bedridden. With Aelmar not quite yet of age and the family’s finances rapidly dwindling, Aelmar’s mother appealed in desperation to Queen Eva.
Eva responded by having royal doctors attend her and using her personal wealth to pay the family’s servants and annul the taxes normally due to the crown, ensuring that mother and son would want for nothing. Aelmar was given a junior rank in the Aravian officer corps. Though his mother could not be fully cured, the queen’s charity ensured she lived out her last years in as much comfort as possible, knowing her son now had a powerful benefactor.
Aelmar never forgot Eva’s kindness, and as he progressed through the ranks, he became ever-more dedicated in his service to the crown. The queen watched his progress closely, a fact that was not lost on the young Elven warrior. As Aravia became more militarized on her order, he was given a senior command, and when war with Kaerok and the other Humans of Anhelt came, Aelmar did not hesitate for a second in following the queen’s orders, and would not brook any discussion about the dangers of the conflict.
The war did not go as the Aravians planned. As it became a brutal, protracted struggle, rumors began to spread of a disaster back home. Some even claimed that the queen had been corrupted, or killed.
Aelmar flew into a rage at such accounts, informing his subordinates that anyone caught spreading falsehoods would be executed for treason. It was not enough to stop the stories, however. Aelmar became obsessed with countering them, and took the name ‘Vergis’ – a twisting of an Aravian dialect word for ‘truth’ – as he clung with increasing fanaticism to his loyalty to Eva.
Vergis would likely have returned to Aravia to disprove the lies spread about the queen, but the war in Kaerok has gone from bad to worse. Vergis now leads the battle-hardened survivors of his many campaigns in an increasingly futile effort to subject Kaerok to Aravian rule, having proven his worth as a warrior many times over. At the Battle of Kellmarsh, he ran through a dozen Kaerok knights, one after another, with his piercing glaive. The defensive aegis provided by his gold and black plate armor and shield aided him anchor the center of a battle line against the fiercest of offensives. His zeal for serving his queen is such that he rarely tires in combat, ignoring wounds that might incapacitate others even as he calls upon his allies to fight harder and scorn the blows of the enemy. Despite the odds against him, some High Elves believe he may yet turn the tide in Kaerok, and win a victory for his beloved queen.

To everyone saying Vergis needs a nerf: how long have u been playing? I’m very new but even I know there are many champions who are WAY more broken than Vergis. This is true for arena, for secret rooms, and for every single part of the game.
At least Vergis is an Epic, so us poors still have a decent chance to obtain him with our measly shards. I’m F2P and he’s one of maybe 3 champions I have that are even remotely viable for late-game at all. So don’t be hating on Vergis.
@barry rayner the stats listed are for a 6-STAR Vergis; you need to level him up and uprade his rank and then do it again until he’s maxxed.
Anyone have a good suggestion for a Blessing for Vergis? I wanted to use Cruelty to decrease DEF on bosses (Scarab mostly). Any better suggestions?

in your stats your Vergis is a lot stronger than the one that i have just won from shards.
my Vergis stats read Hp.7.860 lower my attack 462 def.648 spd is correct c.rate.15% correct and c.damage.50% resist 30. acc.0 has he been nerfed for some reason
This guy has been broken forever. His passive triggers regardless of how much damage he takes (rather than the 10% listed in his skill description), and it has ZERO cooldown.
As a result, when you face this poorly coded piece of crap, it takes FOREVER to kill him, making already painfully slow content about as much fun as shaving your balls with a rusty razor. There are 2 Vergis in the 3rd wave of SR3 Hard. They have around 95K HP each. What should happen is:
a) he doesn’t trigger the shield unless you do >9.5K damage to him with a single attack, and
b) once he’s triggered the shield once, he doesn’t trigger it again until after he gets another turn (because assuming he’s fully booked, this skill has a 1 turn CD)
But since Plarium employ coders who are as dumb as their content developers, instead what happens is this annoyingly bugged turd of a hero triggers his shield EVERY time you attack him. So every hit effectively does 9.5K damage less. To make matters worse, since there are 2 of them, he’s also healing 14.5K on every turn. And since nobody at Plarium actually plays their garbage product, he’s been broken like this for at least 9 months. I don’t even think anyone at this useless company even knows he’s bugged.
A more competent company would be VERY INTERESTED in fixing a bug that makes the game as un-fun as this guy does!

you should replace the stun/stalwart gear for speed or immortality.
Any intermediate player can bypass him easily, he’s not even arena champ just a mid tier tank dungeon carry.
Not broken in Arena. You just need a champ that can block armor or decrease defense. Or one that ignores defense. He goes down fairly easy, once you get that. I use Madame Serris against him all the time with no issues.

@Dallas: Selfless Defender only works once and its best used for Arena where there is heavy nuking taking place. If you plan to use Vergis for Arena only, then Selfless Defender would be a good choice. However, you will need to build Vergis with a high amount of HP to be able to tank the damage from his allies.
So I’m filling out the mysteries on my verges, and I’m debating going with “selfless defender” instead of “deterance” Thoughts?
He is t the only one who can tank Scarab King. Madam S can solo the scarab king.
Verg is on two of my 20 teams. Not a whale so when I find a versatile Champ I over use them to a certain extent. Verg is hard to kill and I know he has only single hitter but I pulled Alure this past weekend and couldn’t get past 18 Fire. She died at a drop of a hat even after stealing gear from other toons to bolster def and hp. So dropped Verg in lead and placed her in his buff spot and now have slow but 100% lvl 20 fire team. His speed buff keeps Alure way ahead of fire knight and have Stag so reduce speed and his buffs makes 20 super easy. Max him out if you pull and you are new will carry you even on wrong affinity.
I can’t kill this MFer in Arena because all my champions are multi-hitters and he resists everything. Definitely broken on arena Defense.

@pr4ger: I would not recommend using Madame Serris for Scarab King since she will be built primarly high Accuracy and low Resist. Hence, the Scarab King can steal all the buffs applied by Vergis on Madame Serris, which makes it difficult in the long run especially on Hard mode.
3* in defence??? Are you mental?!?! He literally cannot be killed if you just give him HP, and the ally protection keeps everyone else alive. The shield, the increased speed, the reflect damage. Think you should re-evaluate that one.
Same thing: Vergis in destroy set = solo Scarab. Add Madame Serris for def down and speed (she has built in shield)
LOL I solo Scarab King on Floor 30 Doom Tower with Vergis while everyone else died on turn 3… it was a loooonnnnggggg fight but he carried the whole thing all by himself.

So I have this issue at spider where Vergis is lead and I have him set up to put buffs on Armiger, by slotting Armiger in the far right position, however whenever the battle starts, different champ is slotted in the far right position and once the battle is over, the positions also reflect the change in the champ select menu… Just why?
@Dave: The in-game rating is often inaccurate. Previously before Vergis was buffed, players who use Vergis had rated badly. However, after the Vergis is buffed to be viable in many areas, newer players who used him find him good, applies the good rating. As a result, the rating now is a mix bag of good rating (from buff) and bad rating (before buff). Plarium did not reset the ratings of a champion after buffing them or nerfing them. I used Vergis in Fire Knight 20 (the last stage of the dungeon) and I found him viable for his protection towards the Lead champion and also his Reflect Damage against the Boss shield. He will allow you to clear Fire Knight 20 without fail but it will take time. You will eventually substitute him with other champions to speed farm Fire Knight 20.
lol! Just want to make it known. The in-game rating for Vergis right now for Fire knight is 3.7. I am super curious why he is rated 5 star on this page.
@Zorlac 700: To counter Vergis, you need a single high damage attack to nuke him or another way is to apply Block Debuff, so he can’t apply his Shield and Continuous Heal. However, if the enemy pairs Vergis with a Block Debuff and Remove Debuff champion, you will be having a tough time.
@john: I used Lifesteal Set on Vergis and paired him with Miscreated Monster to clear Nightmare Campaign 3 Stars all stages except for the Nightmare Campaign 12-7 (this one requires a champion with unkillable such as Paragon).
I just faced my first Vergis just today at arena and had my top damage dealers. None of them could kill this guy. Kept on healing and had a shield buff too. Won’t go past half his health. This champion is tough one
has anyone actually used life steal set on him? seems like a poor set on him since he can’t utilize it accept his a1 and even then it’s weak….
Vergis Just beat me two times in a row in arena. I had three legendary champions going against him and I could not kill him. He is a beast.
@Toff, going to try the similar MM mastery set up as you suggested below. If not good for my circumstances will change to Off/Def instead of Def/Supp.
I put together a team of champions , who are rate 5* and i lost . I would love to see more videos paying attention to synergistic effects champions can have to defeat in dungeons.

On Vergis’ Defense Masteries, you left out “DELAY DEATH” on the list below the screen shot. It should be #6, and the numbers below increased (there are 8 on the DEF side!

tbh Vergis could be build with def/support tree (like miscreated monster – just with only “left side” of support tree).
Giving him increased heals on him self an ally + extended duration of buffs ect.
This would make him excellent allyprotection champ for CB ect if you dont want to use APO for speeding up whole team, but to just speed up 1 champ life for example doompriest or something (as even on normal build you speed them basicly permanently).
I know his A1 does more dmg then for example Taylers A1 (but hits weaker then his A3 – something in the middle between them) but you dont take him for doing dmg tbh (even on Arena ect).

@Urtoroth: Personally, I highly recommend Lifesteal Set instead of Immortal Set and Rejuvenation Set as I have tested him in Nightmare Campaign battle. The other sets could not heal quick enough to allow his Passive Skill to kick in once his HP drops below 50% and his Continuous Heal is not able to replenish sufficient HP to recover from the heat from the battle (multiple enemies attacking simultaneously).

after some testing Immortal set if far better on him that rejuv than to the extra HP Immortal gives
Also The buff Vergis cast is always placed on the 2nd Slot Unit when He is the Leader
Rejvus set work great on him since the 10% scales of any toons max HP and unlike lifesteal which is based off the damage they deal. Then you factor in masteries they boost his heal and shield he casts that is a big bump to that 10% heal every turn. also since he has only his A1 as an attack you could double dip into def and support to make him insane which is what i am doing
anyone know if Rejuvenation works for him casting his own buff? doesnt seem like it does just seems like an odd choice is all

@fnōrd: I also have Vergis (Epic Spirit champion) guarding my Vault. I couldn’t find any places to use him to optimize my runs from early-mid-late game. However, I believe he could be very useful as a tank bait in Spider’s Den (weak affinity) by equipping him with Frenzy Set. As he gets targeted by enemies, he will be able to recover quickly to activate his Passive Skill Continuous Heal to recover his HP and perform his attack/skills. Currently, the game does not offer a venue to farm Epic skill tomes apart from buying from the Shop with real-cash or obtaining it through Event. If the skill tomes were more farmable/accessible for F2P (Free to Play players), I might test him out to see his true potential and the benefits he brings to the table.
Well, the reviews look pretty grim for Vergis and I just summoned him with a long awaited sacred shard. So it goes. But maybe he’ll still turn out to be a diamond in the rough. I’m often short one durable enough def-based Spirit affinity team member for a lot of places. The reviews here show he’s not going to be more than mediocre except maybe in Void Keep, but I’ll see what I can do with him.
