MapleStory 5th Job Skill Build Guide

MapleStory V 5th job skills advancement system goal is to add new battle experiences, makes you grow stronger and slightly modifying existing battle play-style. Characters who are at least Level 200 can start to complete 5th job advancement quests in Temple of Time.

The 5th job skill system V Matrix

  • Equip V Cores to acquire new skills, enhance existing ones and gain special abilities!
  • 3 types of V Cores: Skill Cores, Enhancement Cores, and Special Cores.
  • Skill Core: Allows you to acquire new skills.
  • Enhancement Core: Allows you to enhance existing skills.
  • Special Core: Only one can be equipped. Provides special abilities if conditions are met.

V Cores Guide

  • To upgrade Skill Cores and Enhancement Cores, bring those cores to NPC Achelle located at Arcane River area’s town to combine the same types of V cores.
  • Skill Cores can be upgraded to Level 20. Enhancement Cores can be upgrade to Level 50. Special Cores can be upgraded to Level 1.
  • V Cores can be disassembled to retrieve V Core Pieces which is used in the Maker Mode System.
  • V Cores is obtained by using Core Gemstone (similarly to Potions) which are dropped by monsters residing in Arcane River area.
  • When you first start 5th job, you will be given 4 slots in the V Matrix. Every 6 level ups will unlock 1 slot.

Skill Cores

New skills that can be acquired by installing Skill Cores have been added. Buff duration/cooldown reduction/cooldown resets do not affect 5th job skills.

All Jobs

Rope Lift Rope Lift
Fires a grappling hook to a platform above you to ascend quickly.
Level 1: Press the skill key while you’re climbing to cancel. Cooldown: 3 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +1]
Level 25: Press the skill key while you’re climbing to cancel. Cooldown: 3 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +25]

Blink Blink
Teleports you to a random location on the map.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Teleport to a random location on the map. Cooldown: 64 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +1]
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Teleport to a random location on the map. Cooldown: 40 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +5]

Elda Nova Elda Nova
Collect Erda from yourself and nearby to shoot down enemies. The enemy with the highest Max HP within range will get attacked first. The Erda of the enemy that has been attacked will become disrupted, which will bind the enemy’s movements.
Level 1: HP Cost: 15%, Damage: 156%, Number of Attacks: 5, Bind Duration: 10 sec. Bind Duration: +100% depending on damage inflicted with Erda Nova. Cooldown: 397 sec.
Level 25: HP Cost: 15%, Damage: 300%, Number of Attacks: 5, Bind Duration: 10 sec. Bind Duration: +100% depending on damage inflicted with Erda Nova. Cooldown: 325 sec.

Will of Erda Will of Erda
Focuses your mind to ignore some abnormal status effects. However, this will not work on all abnormal status effects.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Cooldown: 475 sec.
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Cooldown: 355 sec.

Decent Mystic Door Decent Mystic Door
Creates a portal that leads to the nearest town. You (and only you) can use it multiple times until it disappears. Press Up to use it.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Uses 2 Magic Rocks, Portal Duration: 32 sec. Cooldown: 130 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +1]
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Uses 2 Magic Rocks, Portal Duration: 80 sec. Cooldown: 130 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +5]

Decent Sharp Eyes Decent Sharp Eyes
Allows you to locate an enemy’s weak spot to deal fatal damage to that enemy.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 183 sec, Critical Rate: +10%, Critical Damage: +8%. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +1]
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 255 sec, Critical Rate: +10%, Critical Damage: +8%. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +5]

Decent Hyper Body Decent Hyper Body
Increases max HP and max MP.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 183 sec, Max HP: +40%, Max MP: +40%. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +1]
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 255 sec, Max HP: +40%, Max MP: +40%. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +5]

Decent Combat Orders Decent Combat Orders
Temporarily increases all of your skill levels. Only 4th Job Skills can be increased beyond master level while other skills can only be increased to master level. Exceptions: Beginner skills, Combat Orders, Decent Combat Orders, Hyper Skills, and 5th Job Skills cannot be increased.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 183 sec, All Skills: +1. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – Abnormal Status Resistance: +1]
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 255 sec, All Skills: +1. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – Abnormal Status Resistance: +5]

Decent Advanced Blessing Decent Advanced Blessing
Greatly increases your Attack Power, Magic ATT, Defense, Max HP, and Max MP. Reduces the amount of MP consumed when using skills. Can be stacked with other buff skills except Advanced Blessing.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Attack Power: +20, Magic ATT: +20, DEF: +425, Max HP: +475, Max MP: +475, MP Consumption: -12%, Duration: 183 sec. Cooldown: 180 sec.
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Attack Power: +20, Magic ATT: +20, DEF: +425, Max HP: +475, Max MP: +475, MP Consumption: -12%, Duration: 255 sec. Cooldown: 180 sec.

Decent Speed Infusion Decent Speed Infusion
Consumes HP to increase your attack speed by 1 level for a fixed period of time. Can be stacked with buffs other than Speed Infusion.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 183 sec, Attack Speed increase. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +1]
Level 25: HP Cost: 5%, Duration: 255 sec, Attack Speed increase. Cooldown: 180 sec. [Passive Effect – All Stats: +5]

Decent Holy Symbol Decent Holy Symbol
For a certain amount of time, gain more EXP and item drop rate while hunting monsters. This effect does not stack with Holy Symbol.
Level 1: Consumes 2470 HP, increases experience by 15% and drop rate by 10% for 183 seconds. Cooldown: 180 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 1750 HP, increases experience by 27% and drop rate by 15% for 255 seconds. Cooldown: 180 seconds.

Warrior Common Skill

Weapon Aura Weapon Aura
Infuses your weapon with a portion of your health, granting it a visible aura and temporarily empowering it.
Level 1: HP Cost: 10%. Enemy DEF Ignored: 10% for 82 seconds. Final Damage: +1%.
Aura Wave: Every 4 seconds. When you use an offensive skill, send out the same number of waves as the number of attacks in that skill to deal 51% of that skill’s damage on up to 10 enemies. Cooldown: 180 seconds.
Level 25: HP Cost: 10%. Enemy DEF Ignored: 15% for 130 seconds. Final Damage: +5%.
Aura Wave: Every 4 seconds. When you use an offensive skill, send out the same number of waves as the number of attacks in that skill to deal 75% of that skill’s damage on up to 10 enemies. Cooldown: 180 seconds.

Blitz Shield Blitz Shield
Create a protective shield using your materialized life. You can explode the shield to attack nearby enemies.
Level 1: Consumes 2475 HP. Create a shield from 10% of your maximum HP that absorbs damage for 6 seconds. When the shield’s duration ends or the skill is reused, it will explode dealing 520% damage 6 times on up to 12 enemies nearby. 3 seconds after the shield has been created, you can reuse the skill to manually explode it. Cooldown: 20 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 1875 HP. Create a shield from 15% of your maximum HP that absorbs damage for 6 seconds. When the shield’s duration ends or the skill is reused, it will explode dealing 1000% damage 6 times on up to 12 enemies nearby. 3 seconds after the shield has been created, you can reuse the skill to manually explode it. Cooldown: 20 seconds.

Magician Common Skill

Mana Overload Mana Overload (Toggle On/Off)
Increases your attack skills by overloading the mana flowing through you.
Level 1: Consumes +2% Max MP to increase the Final Damage of all your skills (excluding summons) by 8%. Consumes 1% Max MP for jobs without MP. Can be toggled On/Off. Cooldown: 59 sec.
Level 25: Consumes +2% Max MP to increase the Final Damage of all your skills (excluding summons) by 10%. Consumes 1% Max MP for jobs without MP. Can be toggled On/Off. Cooldown: 35 sec.

Unstable Memorize Unstable Memorize
Reuse magic based on the memory of magic you have used before. However, this skill is unstable because you are depending on your memory.
Level 1: Consumes 246 MP. Randomly use one of your 1st~4th job active skills. The selected skill’s MP cost and cooldown will be ignored. You cannot use unlearned skills. Cooldown: 15 seconds. [Passive effect: 1 INT]
Level 25: Consumes 150 MP. Randomly use one of your 1st~4th job active skills. The selected skill’s MP cost and cooldown will be ignored. You cannot use unlearned skills. Cooldown: 10 seconds. [Passive effect: 25 INT]

Archer Common Skill

Guided Arrow Guided Arrow
Summons a soul arrow that chases enemies. This skill Does not affect enemies in the Damage Reflection status.
Level 1: Consumes 350 MP to create a soul arrow around you for 20 sec. The arrow attacks 1 enemy at 260% damage 30 times in combat mode. Cooldown: 20 sec.
Level 25: Consumes 350 MP to create a soul arrow around you for 20 sec. The arrow attacks 1 enemy at 500% damage 30 times in combat mode. Cooldown: 20 sec.

Evolve Evolve
With a mysterious power, Phoenix and Freezer are enhanced for a certain period of time. Phoenix or Freezer must be summoned to use this skill.
Level 1: Consumes 800 MP. For 40 seconds, enhance Phoenix or Freezer, causing them to deal 465% damage 6 times on up to 10 enemies. Cooldown: 120 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 800 MP. For 40 seconds, enhance Phoenix or Freezer, causing them to deal 825% damage 6 times on up to 10 enemies. Cooldown: 120 seconds.

Thief Common Skill

Venom Burst Venom Burst
Poisoned enemies will explode, dealing damage and transferring poison to nearby enemies.
Level 1: Consumes 300 MP. For up to 12 enemies in range that are taking damage over time, cause them to instantly take the remaining damage over time at once and an additional 465% damage 5 times. The additional attack’s final damage is increased by 15% for every second the enemy was taking damage over time. Afterwards, the explosion causes up to 10 nearby enemies to receive the damage over time that the initial enemies were inflicted with. Cooldown: 8 seconds. Passive effect: when attacking, there is a 50% chance to inflict enemies with a DoT, dealing 166% damage every second for 8 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 300 MP. For up to 12 enemies in range that are taking damage over time, cause them to instantly take the remaining damage over time at once and an additional 825% damage 5 times. The additional attack’s final damage is increased by 15% for every second the enemy was taking damage over time. Afterwards, the explosion causes up to 10 nearby enemies to receive the damage over time that the initial enemies were inflicted with. Cooldown: 8 seconds. Passive effect: when attacking, there is a 50% chance to inflict enemies with a DoT, dealing 310% damage every second for 8 seconds.

Ultimate Dark Sight Ultimate Dark Sight
By using your hiding talent to the limit, for a certain period of time, attacking or using skills in Dark Sight will not release Dark Sight. In addition, attacking during Dark Sight will increase your damage.
Level 1: Consumes 850 MP. For 25 seconds, attacking or using skills in Dark Sight will not release Dark Sight, and attacking while in Dark Sight will increase your final damage by 10% (stacks with Advanced Dark Sight’s final damage boost). Cooldown: 199 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 850 MP. For 37 seconds, attacking or using skills in Dark Sight will not release Dark Sight, and attacking while in Dark Sight will increase your final damage by 22% (stacks with Advanced Dark Sight’s final damage boost). Cooldown: 175 seconds.

Pirate Common Skill

Loaded Dice
Throw one more die when you roll Lucky Dice and fix the spots on one die as you wish. Can select a spot on a die with a number key after casting the skill. The class with no Lucky Dice can use the Lucky Dice skill and roll a dice that shows the number of your choice.
Level 1: MP Cost: 1000, Can select a spot on a die. Cooldown: 10 sec. [Passive Effects: ATT +11]
Level 25: MP Cost: 1000, Can select a spot on a die. Cooldown: 10 sec. [Passive Effects: ATT +35]

Pirate Flag Pirate Flag
Plant the flag of a brave pirate, increasing you and your party’s morale while scaring enemies. While the flag is planted, enemy attacks will not knock you back.
Level 1: Consumes 500 MP. For 30 seconds, summon a pirate flag. Party members near the pirate flag will have all of their stats increased by 10% (only affects stats from directly invested AP), and decreases defense of nearby monsters by 10%. Cooldown: 59 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 500 MP. For 30 seconds, summon a pirate flag. Party members near the pirate flag will have all of their stats increased by 22% (only affects stats from directly invested AP), and decreases defense of nearby monsters by 22%. Cooldown: 35 seconds.

Cygnus Common Skill

Pirate Flag Cygnus Phalanx
Summon brave Cygnus spearmen that charge forward, pushing enemies. Pressing the skill key again will change their direction. If the spearmen attack enemies using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage.
Level 1: Consumes 500 MP. Deals 468% damage 40 times. Once all the number of hits are used, a certain distance is moved, or a certain amount of time has passed, the skill will disappear. Pressing the skill key again will change their direction. Cooldown: 20 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 500 MP. Deals 900% damage 52 times. Once all the number of hits are used, a certain distance is moved, or a certain amount of time has passed, the skill will disappear. Pressing the skill key again will change their direction. Cooldown: 20 seconds.

Hero Common Skill

Freud’s Blessing
Gain the power that the hero Freud left for his friends.
Level 1: Consumes 250 MP. After being used, gain a buff for 30 seconds that can be stacked up to 6 times, each new effect will refresh the buff and stack with previous effects. Cooldown: 25 seconds. If the skill is not stacked and the duration ends, or the skill is stacked to the maximum, the cooldown is 240 seconds.
[1st stack] Skill cooldowns (except those not affected by cooldown resets) will decrease 30% faster.
[2nd stack] 51% Stance.
[3rd stack] 26 all stats.
[4th stack] 10 attack/magic attack.
[5th stack] 10% boss damage.
[6th stack] invincibility for the entire duration.
Level 25: Consumes 250 MP. After being used, gain a buff for 30 seconds that can be stacked up to 6 times, each new effect will refresh the buff and stack with previous effects. Cooldown: 25 seconds. If the skill is not stacked and the duration ends, or the skill is stacked to the maximum, the cooldown is 240 seconds.
[1st stack] Skill cooldowns (except those not affected by cooldown resets) will decrease 30% faster.
[2nd stack] 75% Stance.
[3rd stack] 50 all stats.
[4th stack] 22 attack/magic attack.
[5th stack] 22% boss damage.
[6th stack] invincibility for the entire duration.

Demon Common Skill

Call Mastema
Summon your faithful follower Mastema to help fight. If Mastema attacks enemies using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage.
Level 1: Consumes 20% max HP. For 31 seconds, summon Mastema. Cooldown: 150 seconds. Mastema can cast the following skills.
Mastema Claw: deals 362% damage 8 times on up to 8 enemies. Cooldown: 5 seconds.
Lovely Territory: for 8 seconds, cast a buff that reduces damage taken from enemy attacks (including % HP attacks) by 10% up to 2 times, the buff will disappear if you use up all of the activation counts or if the duration ends. Cooldown: 10 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 20% max HP. For 55 seconds, summon Mastema. Cooldown: 150 seconds. Mastema can cast the following skills.
Mastema Claw: deals 650% damage 8 times on up to 8 enemies. Cooldown: 5 seconds.
Lovely Territory: for 8 seconds, cast a buff that reduces damage taken from enemy attacks (including % HP attacks) by 22% up to 2 times, the buff will disappear if you use up all of the activation counts or if the duration ends. Cooldown: 10 seconds.

Resistance Common Skill

Resistance Line Infantry
Summon a Resistance infantry unit with ranged attacks. If the infantry attacks enemies using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage.
Level 1: Consumes 650 MP. Summon an infantry for 12 seconds, each strike deals 187% damage 8 times on up to 12 enemies. Cooldown: 35 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 650 MP. Summon an infantry for 12 seconds, each strike deals 355% damage 8 times on up to 12 enemies. Cooldown: 35 seconds.

Nova Common Skill

Pantheon
With the power of the Nova god, punish enemies and receive its blessings. If you receive Heaven’s Door while Pantheon is active, Pantheon will disappear because they do not stack.
Level 1: Consumes 20% HP. Deals 624% damage 8 times on up to 15 enemies. After attacking, for 612 seconds, if your HP hits 0, you will ignore death 1 time. Cooldown: 1200 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 20% HP. Deals 1200% damage 8 times on up to 15 enemies. After attacking, for 900 seconds, if your HP hits 0, you will ignore death 1 time. Cooldown: 1200 seconds.

Special Cores

Special Cores can have a max level of up to 1 and you can only install one at a time. Each Special Core has its own unique special abilities.

Accumulated Power
Your damage is increased by 20% for 10 seconds whenever you defeat 120 enemies.

Deadly Strike I
Your critical rate is increased by 100% for 10 seconds whenever you deal 1000 hits.

Deadly Strike II
Your critical rate is increased by 100% for 10 seconds after achieving 50 Combo Kills.

Armor Smash I
Your defense ignore is increased by 100% for 10 seconds whenever you hit a single monster 800 times.

Armor Smash II
Your defense ignore is increased by 100% for 10 seconds after using a skill every 120 seconds.

Automatic Recovery I
Your HP is healed by 100% whenever you use a skill after a 30 seconds.

Automatic Recovery II
Your HP is healed by 100% after using a skill every 20 seconds.

Continuous Strike
Your critical damage is increased by 100% for 10 seconds whenever you achieve 50 Combo Kills.

Rune’s Blessing
You become invincible for 10 seconds after activating a Rune.

Rune’s Convergence
Your damage is increased by 100% for 10 seconds after activating a Rune.

Rune’s Experience
Your experience acquired is increased by 50% for 20 seconds after activating a Rune.

Overcoming Experience
Your experience acquired is increased by 50% for 20 seconds whenever you get hit 100 times.

Comeback I
Your skill cooldowns are decreased by 20% whenever you die.

Comeback II
Your skill cooldowns are decreased by 30% whenever you die.

Boss Slayer I
Your boss damage is increased by 50% for 10 seconds at a 1% rate whenever you are attacking.

Boss Slayer II
Your boss damage is increased by 50% for 10 seconds after using a skill every 120 seconds.

Boss Slayer III
Your boss damage is increased by 50% for 10 seconds after defeating 30 enemies.

Relentless Attack
Your skill cooldowns are decreased by 20% after achieving 50 Combo Kills.

Endurance
You gain 10 seconds of invincibility after getting hit 100 times.

Quick Reload
Your defense ignore is increased by 100% for 10 seconds after using a skill every 60 seconds.

One Target
Your critical rate is increased by 100% for 10 seconds after attacking the same monster 800 times.

Good Luck Recovery
When attacking, there is a 1% chance of healing 10% of your HP.

Guts
Your skill cooldowns are decreased by 25% after getting hit 100 times.

Fatal Strike
Your damage is increased by 100% for 2 seconds after using a skill every 30 seconds.

Counterattack
Your damage is increased by 100% for 2 seconds after getting hit 20 times.

Enhancement Cores

  • Enhancement Cores enhances existing skills’ damage.
  • Each Enhancement Core can increase the damage of up to 3 skills, depending on the base Core and it’s 2 adjectives.
  • Base Core + 2 adjectives will all stack together and increase the individual skills’ Enhancements.
  • For example, I have the Stormy and Trembling Flame Shot core, which increases the level of Flame Shot Enhancement and also Hurricane Enhancement (Stormy) and Quiver Cartridge Enhancement (Trembling).
  • If that was a rank 1 Core and I also had a rank 3 Firey and Trembling Hurricane core, I would have level 4 Enhancements for all 3 skills.
  • Enhancement Core skills all increase the final damage of corresponding skills by 2~4% per level, with a max level of 50.
  • When they reach certain levels, they will also give additional stats. Level 20: +1 monsters hit (some skills will not receive this bonus). Level 40: +20% defense ignore

Common Enhancment Cores

  • Warrior: Slash Blast (4% per level)
  • Magician: Energy Bolt (4% per level)
  • Archer: Arrow Blow (4% per level)
  • Thief: Double Stab (4% per level) | Lucky Seven (4% per level)
  • Pirate: Sommersault Kick (4% per level) | Double Shot (4% per level)

    Hi Ayumilove, just wondering if you know for common bow class beyond skill “Evolve”, it only applies to bow and xbow(freezer and pheonix)? So windarcher, merc and wildhunter can’t use that skill or they have another effect for them?

    Can you use less intrusive ads on your website? I really like using the guides here as a reference, but some of the ads are really annoying loud pop ups that have malware.

    @fate shuu, yes it is possible to max out as long as u have enough core pieces to craft the decent skills to upgrade them. But it is a waste to max them out. And for the DSE glove part, the core slots are actually not really enough to fit too much decent skills, so DSE glove still worthy to have one

    If can, no need to waste money on DSE Glove anymore 😃
