Fighter Skill Build Guide: Everything maxed except Brandish.
0. Combo Attack is auto-maxed.
1. Brandish, Combo Fury, Rage, Weapon Mastery (1)
2. Weapon Mastery (MAX)
3. Rage (MAX)
4. Physical Training (MAX)
5. Weapon Booster (MAX)
6. Combo Fury (MAX)
7. Brandish (19/20)
8. Final Attack (MAX)

Explanation:
Fighter primary attacking skill will be both Brandish and Combo Fury. Combo Fury is not spammable since it consumes a Combo Orb which is generated through using non-combo Active Skills such as Brandish and it has a slight delay when casting twice within the same period. However, Combo Fury has superb attacking range which can pull monsters which are non-visible in your screen. Add 1 SP (Skill Point) into Brandish, Combo Fury, Rage and Weapon Mastery to unlock the active skills and gain some passive boost benefits. First, max Weapon Mastery to stabilize your damage and increasing your minimum damage substantially. Secondly, max both Rage and Physical Training to increase both min-max damage up. With all the passive damage booster skills are maxed, you can easily 1HKO (1 Hit Kill) most monsters even with Level 1 Brandish and Combo Fury. Therefore, proceed with maxing Weapon Booster to decrease the delay of both active skills. Finally max Combo Fury to increase the number of monsters it can pull and cluster. Cap Brandish at Level 19 as there are insufficient SP to max all skills. Brandish is not maxed because it will be replaced by 3rd and 4th job skills as primary attacking skill. Finally max Final Attack.

Panic
Required Skill: Combo Attack (1)
Attacks multiple enemies and decreases their Attacks with a chance of casting Blind, decreasing Accuracy. Requires 2 or more Combo count. Panic’s Blind effect is applicable to all monsters, but its duration is halved for Boss monsters.
Level 1: MP Cost: 10, Combo Counter Cost: 2. Attacks 6 enemies at 865% Damage and decrease their DEF -11% with a 43% chance of inflicting Blind to decrease Accuracy -11% for 42 sec. Consumes 1 additional Combo Counter if recast within 29 sec.
Level 20: MP Cost: 20, Combo Counter Cost: 2. Attacks 6 enemies at 1150% Damage and decrease their DEF -30% with a 100% chance of inflicting Blind to decrease Accuracy -20% for 80 sec. Consumes 1 additional Combo Counter if recast within 10 sec.

Shout
Shout at enemies, expending combo orbs to deal damage. If used while holding the down arrow key, decreases attack range and number of attacks, but adds Stuns. If held while attacking bosses, increases the chance of afflicting them with an abnormal status.
Level 1: MP Cost: 8, Combo Orbs Used: 1, Max Enemies Hit: 6, Damage: 105%, Number of Attacks: 6. If used while holding down the down key, attacks 3 times, attack range decreased, 100% chance to stun for 6 secs. If a boss is hit while holding down the down key, abnormal status chance is increased by 100%. Cooldown: 10 sec.
Level 20: MP Cost: 18, Combo Orbs Used: 1, Max Enemies Hit: 10, Damage: 200%, Number of Attacks: 6. If used while holding down the down key, attacks 3 times, attack range decreased, 100% chance to stun for 6 secs. If a boss is hit while holding down the down key, abnormal status chance is increased by 100%. Cooldown: 10 sec.

Combo Synergy
Increases Final Damage for each combo orb and increases the chance to gain combo orbs.
Level 1: Has a 42% chance to gain a combo orb with every attack. Final Damage increases by 1% for each combo orb, total applied between combo orbs. Upon taking a hit, has a 11% chance to charge a combo orb.

Crusader Skill Build Guide: Everything maxed except Intrepid Slash.
1. Intrepid Slash, Rush, Panic, Self Recovery (1)
2. Rush (MAX)
3. Self Recovery (MAX)
4. Combo Synergy (MAX)
5. Chance Attack (MAX)
6. Panic (MAX)
3. Intrepid Slash (14/20)
8. Endure (MAX)
9. Shout (MAX)

Explanation:
Add 1 SP (Skill Point) into Intrepid Slash, Rush, Panic and Self Recovery to unlock these skills. First, max Rush to increase the number of mobs it can drag and cluster enemies. Level 1 Rush can 1HKO (1 Hit Kill) most enemies around Level 50-60 which makes leveling extremely fast! Next, max Self Recovery skill to replenish both HP and MP drastically. This reduces the need of restocking HP and MP potions in towns, thereby increasing training duration and save tons of meso in the long run. Third, max Combo Synergy to passively increase the damage you gain from the generated combo orbs. Fourth, max both Chance Attack and Panic to deal more damage to enemies under your Dark Effects. Some monsters such as the one from Monster Park aren’t affected by Stun. However, they can be debuff with Darkness from Panic Skill. Using these 2 skills in combination will allow you to dish more damage with Intrepid Slash. Cap Intrepid Slash at Level 19 so you have sufficient SP to max the remaining skills which are Endure and Shout. Personally I do not use Shout in training, therefore you can either max Intrepid Slash instead of Shout.

Take note that Puncture requires 20 SP in Advanced Combo whereas Enrage requires 30 SP in Advanced Combo. Ayumi, i think a skill is missing in the 3rd job. There is a skill called the upward charge or upper charge.

  4. Ayumilove Post author

@perception5: Thanks for the correction! I have updated Hero’s Puncture skill detail.

  5. Ayumilove Post author

@L: Thanks for pointing it out! I have corrected the skill detail as I might have missed it out Raging Blow in Enrage mode total attack times have been reduced from 9 to 5 since MSEA v.167.

  6. Ayumilove Post author

@EvanTrinity: Some of Hero’s 4th Job Skills requires Mastery Books 20 and 30 to unlock the skill level cap. You can purchase those Mastery Books from the NPC located in Leafre and Henesys. I couldn’t remember which 4th job skills does not require Mastery Books but I know most of them needs them.

  7. Ayumilove Post author

@rosini: Thanks for your feedback! I have replaced the cons with the one you have provided!

  8. Ayumilove Post author

@maxecm: “Advanced Final Attack – Ferocity” Hyper Skill adds +20 weapon attack permanently on top of the 30 base weapon attack, which results in permanent 50 weapon attack. It’s way better than the 15% Activate Chance as you will inflict additional damage on all your skill attacks to monsters.

Hello to Ayumilove and all Hero fans

Now im playing Hero in THMS [patch and system follow KMS]

So i have a question about PassiveHyper Skill. In Build Guide said

    Hero Hyper Skill Build Guide:
    1. Raging Blow – Reinforce (MAX)
    2. Raging Blow – Extra Strike (MAX)
    3. Advanced Final Attack – Ferocity (MAX) <<< This one
    4. Advanced Combo – Reinforce (MAX)
    5. Advanced Combo – Boss Rush (MAX)

This Skill [Ferocity – Advanced Final Attack Weapon Attack +20]
#1 Is it plus 20WATT from this skill only itself ? or
#2 +20 WATT in Overall [*Everyskill]

if answer is #1. Is 15% Active Chance gonna better than +20WATT ? I think it is

  11. rosini

I think one of Heroes’ cons need to be changed from:
“Not incredible at mobbing after 100 level.”
    to:
“Mobbing capabilities are heavily dependent on level 150 Hyper skill and Burning Soul Blade from 5th job”

  12. EvanTrinity

    Hello Ayumilove

    i have question
soon im going to open Hero Class and i was intresting to know about the skill Combat mastery
b4 Combat Mastery skill was lvl 10 and not request Mastery Books
Today Combat Mastery lvl Increased to lvl 30
and my question is is Combat Mastery Request Mastery Books to increased it to 30 after that
or im getting Combat Mastery immidiatly lvl 30 like Dark Knight Skill Beholder Revege?

  13. L

Why does my raging blow hits 5 times only when in enrage mode? I thought it is supposed to hit 9 times as stated in your guide?

  14. perception5

    Hey love this guide!
Puncture level 1 requires 1 combo orb not 4 🙂
    thanks again!

  15. Ayumilove Post author

@wasd3223: Thanks for pointing out the error in Hero Hyper Skills “Advanced Final Attack – Opportunity”. I have corrected the value from 10% to 15%.

  16. Ayumilove Post author

@1st Espada: I’m currently working on getting up-to-date videos for each MapleStory job. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback!

  17. Ayumilove Post author

@Jwoo: Thanks for pointing out the error! I have corrected the typo from “raising blow” to “raging blow”.

  18. Jwoo

For description of “Sword of Burning Soul” 5th job skill, you wrote raising blow instead of raging blow.

  19. wasd3223

I’m not sure if this is just an error, but the tool tip on Advanced Final Attack – Opportunity says the increase in activation is 15%.

  20. 1st Espada

Could we maybe get up to date videos on characters? The Demon Slayer and Avenger have good ones that just show the skills for each job. I know we can just go look one up but it would help your guides out with convenience, and I would rather come to you and give your site my time lol.

Thanks for all you do though 😀

  21. LuxArucadia

Should up final atk-opportunity instead of ferocity in hyper. And the hyper already increased to 15% from 10%, the chance of activation should always overtake the effects of additional 20 wa.

  22. Ayumilove Post author

@GRADAN31: You will have 31 levels to gain SP (Skill Points) in 2nd Job. Level 60 (3rd job) – Level 30 (2nd job) = 30 levels. 30 Levels x 3 SP = 90 SP. When you first advance to 2nd job, you gain 4 SP instead of 3 SP. Therefore, you have 94 SP in total where you will have 1 SP short to max Brandish skill.

  23. GRADAN31

for this section “FIGHTER – WARRIOR 2ND JOB SKILLS”
I see that you have 95 skill points available when I calculate according to your section, “Fighter Skill Build Guide”, but I only have 90 skill points in my account. Is there an error? Should Brandish be level till 15 instead?

  24. MeantToBMage

    Sup ayumi!
So, “advanced combo – reinforce” increases final damage by 2% per combo orb. Seems the one you posted above is an older version of the skill.

  25. Helkrolon

Hi Ayumilove. For Hero’s hyper skill advanced final attack accuracy is change to advanced final attack reinforce. There’s no more increase accuracy. They change it to increase damage.

OLD >> Advanced Final Attack – Accuracy
    Accuracy increased by 10%

NEW >> Advanced Final Attack – Reinforce
    Damage increased by 10%

So the build guide for hyper skill should i add reinforce which is 10% damage increase or ferocity which is ATT +20

  26. Ayumilove Post author

@all: This page is fully updated to GMS v.177

  27. J

Hero’s Rush and Leap is the same as Paladin/Drk, it’s just colored differently.

  28. Ayumilove Post author

@Paladinnoob: It should be the same for all Warrior Adventurers.

  29. Paladinnoob

Are the hero rush and leap different than the ones of paladin/DRK Knight?

  30. Ayumilove Post author

@xlchor: I would recommend you to purchase SP Reset Scroll using @ACash (MapleSEA Cash Shop Currency) to reset that skill to avoid wasting time retraining/re-questing the character! If you do not find it troublesome, then you may create the character from scratch again after transferring all the valuables/assets from that character into a mule/storage-NPC.

  31. xIchor

Hey Ayumi, whilst levelling I had accidentally maxed Shout and Intrepid therefore Endure is not maxed out. As I had a lot of mesos saved from my other characters, I was told that I could get a Reset Scroll from a NPC named Matilda. However, playing on SEA – I see no such NPC in any major town.

Is she just not in MapleSEA? And do I just need to restart my character…?

  32. Vincanthofred

Do you happen to know where I could find a video of the upgrade to hero’s shout in 1.72 looks like ?

  33. yichor

@OhMyVisus: thx for your hyper skill guide, did other have change?

  34. yichor

    @OhMyVisus

  35. OhMyYisus

    MSEA Hero Hyper:
“Advanced Combo – Reinforce” is level 143
“Advanced Combo – Boss Rush” is level 183

  36. yichor

@Noalm : if u choose hero class to play i will recomended if u are not funding very much choose fensalir sword/axe
if u really funded choose lion heart sword/axe

if end game: choose fafnir sword/axe or absolute sword/axe

  37. Noalm

Hey ayumi, which is te best choice of weapon for lv 100+?

  38. Ayumilove Post author

@anthony: Kaiser has better abilities in most aspects compared to Hero and other Adventurer Warrior since you can perform different things like transformation to deal more powerful damage burst at a short period plus it looks way cooler.

  39. anthony

hey ayumi, kaiser or hero in mobbing ,survivalrate ,bossing, dps , fun and damage

  40. PhewpRo

weapon selection? pros and cons of each?

  41. yichor

Ayumi i have 1 more question is how do increase status resistance,i just can do 30% status resistance because i train at dimlight there mob will stun me unstoptable .So how i can increase it

  42. yichor

Hi,Ayumi i wanna ask why i up max advance combo to lvl30 but i juz get 8 orbs only ,did is some bug or need require something?

  43. Ayumilove Post author

@Flintlock19: Thanks for sharing your Hero Pros and Cons! I’ll be adding to the article above.

  44. Flintlock19

Ayumi , in my opinion , Hero Pros and Cons with be

    Pros
+Powerful at bossing since he has Puncture
+Less spamming skill because he only have 1 primary skill in every Jobs ( like Fighter use Brandish , Crusader use Intrepid Slash and Hero use Raging Blow )
+Self Recovery can reduce lots of potion in 60-90 level
+Rage can stack with other buff
    +Easy to learn

    Cons
-No good recovery skill , easy die vs high level monster or boss
-Not incredible at mobbing (After 100 level , I use Hero to mobbing is difficult )
-Primary skill distance is short and no good recovery skill

This Pros and Cons come from my experience

  45. Ayumilove Post author

@Han: I’m not sure whether it will display the damage increment in the stat windows, but it will be calculated when dishing out damage onto enemies.

  46. Ayumilove Post author

@New to maple: The hyper skills are not in any particular order. Add them according to the recommended Hyper Skills above 🙂

  47. toushirou3

    hey ayumi….

in your hyper guide…why did you max hyper mana over hyper dex?

  48. Han

Hey Ayumi, I really love your guides and they’ve helped me out a ton. I was wondering, though, how Combo Synergy works because I have it maxed out right now in 3rd job but each combo orb is not giving me the additional damage %!! What does that mean.

  49. Han

Hey Ayumi, so I’m making a hero at the moment. Apparently using my Combo skill, I am not able to actually gain any additional damage (3rd Job maxed Combo Synergy). Is that just a glitch?

  50. New to maple

    Hi Ayumilove,

I have reached level 143 and have 1 skill point
Should I add it to -Advanced Combo – Boss Rush- first and reset them later?
I’m confused with the list above.

  51. Sparks

Currently on dps charts, Hero is a little better.

  52. jiso

    the dark knigth is better

  53. wilson

Hi there, i’m choosing between Hero and Paladin. Can anyone give me suggestion which is better? thanks

  54. Ayumilove Post author

@Jinwei: For me I would personally max ACA aka Advanced Combo Attack for more stable damage (higher minimum mastery) + faster combo proc rate + higher damage per orbs. To begin with, add 1 SP (Skill Point) into Raging Blow, Combat Mastery, Advanced Final Attack for the Level 1 skill benefits.

  55. Ayumilove Post author

@Sico: Sorry for the late reply. I have updated Hero skill 2nd and 3rd job skill build guide to focus more on Combo Fury and Dash, along with the Hyper Skill correction for best skill build optimization 🙂

  56. Ayumilove Post author

@Jacob: I have updated Hero’s Hyper Skills (Advanced Combo Attack aka ACA: Boss Damage and Reinforce) and (Raging Blow: Extra Strike and Reinforce) Swapped their level requirement 🙂

  57. Jinwei

Hi. I would like to know which skill to max first. Example if i level 100, which skill should i add first? I called it skill leveling guide.

  58. Jacob

Hey ayumi. I’d like to point out that a couple of the hyper skills are switched. Aca boss damage is lv155 and regular damage is 183. Also raging blow gets extra hit at 155. At first I wasn’t sure, but that’s how it is for me in game

  59. Sico

@Dylan: I find that kind of weird. Dark Knight should have the highest range for unfunded classes, because of Cross Surge, which double your range based on your current HP ratio. To top that off Dark Knight have the second to highest DPS, right below Zero, because of Sacrifice + Gungnir’s Descent. This is solely on below 120s. Paladins do come out on top afterwards because they have higher resistance and can have a more steady DPM. Though by pure mathematical speculation and no interruptions Dark Knight > Hero > Paladin. In reality sense this can be Paladin > Dark Knight = Hero. Also, it really based on how a class feels. To me all warriors (including Aran, Kaiser, Hayato, Demons, Zero, Mihile, and Dawn) feel nice, because they have high resistances and health, with great damage.

    @Ayumi:
For Second Job: Rage adds 30% Damage Absorption, and 500% DR. I strongly recommend maxing Combo Rush rather than Brandish. Its up to the player, I have funded my low levels strongly (21 atk bwg, evo rings, absolute ring/shoulder, and absolute belt) so my level 1 brandish vs level 20 brandish is just a small difference, I still 1hit everything around my level.
For Third Job: Intrepid Slash / Brave Slash, and I do not recommend maxing Intrepid slash, actually I do not recommend maxing any main attacking skills under fourth job. You won’t use it later anyways. From time to time I still use Combo Fury and I use Dash all the time.
For Hyper Skills: I do not recommend Advance Combo – Opportunity, Each attack should always give you a Combo charge so that 20% is useless, you can use it for an additional Raging Blow line.

    TL:DR
@Dylan: Paladins are great for PDM because of their resistance. Though unfunded Dark Knight and Heros should take control.

@Ayumi: 2nd Job: Fix rage, max Combo Fury instead of Rush. 3rd Job: Intrepid Slash/Brave Slash, same thing as second job with Dash. Hyper Skills: Additional Raging Blow line, instead of Combo Opportunity.

  60. Jackson

@Dylan WTF are you talking about, Hero totaly ROCK my Hero is Lvl 110 now, his damage to mob w/o rage 23,000 – 29,000 with rage 27,000 – 31,000 X5 and to boss w/o rage and enrage 19,000 – 21,000 with rage 20.000 – 23,000 and with rage and enrage 22,000 – 27,000 X5.

    i’m using a Lvl90 2H Sword

  61. Dylan

HERO SUCKS!!! When my warrior was a DK, he did 50,000 – 80,000 at level 107. When I switched him to a paladin, I did 120,000 – 150,000. When I switched him to a hero he only did 40,000 – 60,000 even with advanced combo orbs and 50% def ignore.

  62. Ayumilove Post author

@gtshs: I could not tell which 1 is stronger since I only played Dark Knight. With Dark Knight, you do not really need to pay attention to HP (Health Points) since you are constantly siphoning enemy health to replenish yours instantly, that’s a bonus = reduce hp potion consumption and decreases risk of dying in the heat of battle!

  63. gtshs

Is hero or dark knight stronger?

  64. Rashid

Isaac, probably Raging Blow (with Enrage) and Puncture.

  65. Isaac

Excuse my ignorance, I’m using google translator.

My question was that ability makes the sword would catch fire as you can see in the video below.

  66. Nylsen

Hi Ayumi, uhm about the Hyper Mana, shouldn’t it be Hyper Dex? Or it is really supposed to be Hyper Mana? :v Thanks! 😀

  67. WildHeartless

hes referring to the open job advancement fee… I am gonna probably guess its roughly 350-400M…

  68. Ayumilove Post author

@devil: What fee are you referring to?

  69. devil

ok, and what is the fee if im 159lv?

  70. Ayumilove Post author

@devil: You will gain all Hero skills as if you were a Dragon Knight.

  71. devil

can i ask when red patch, if im a dragon knight i wan to turn into hero, is it completely turn into hero or is a hero that without few skill such as combo attack?

  72. Somebody

Just wondering, why did you say to max shout at third job? I would prefer the increased damage on rush since you use it more on 4th job.

  73. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Somebody for highlighting this issue! I’ll correct them right away. The guide above was based on the information above. But the skill information did not have the pre-requisite skills (dependent skills). I’ll add them too 🙂

  74. Somebody

I meant the 2 pts that would have been used for Rupture and Enrage at 100.
And I forgot earlier but thx for the guide; wouldn’t have known wht to raise at 4th =P

  75. Somebody

Heroes can’t get Rupture or Enrage unless they raise Advanced Combo to lvl 20 and 30 respectively in GMS. However, it’s possible to put the 2 pts as 1pt in Adv Combo and 1pt in Advanced Final Attack or 2 pts into Advanced Combo instead (although the former is better).

  76. Ayumilove Post author

  77. Ayumilove Post author

Hi yuqi, the information above are updated to match GMS v.143 RED First Impact Part 1.

  78. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Jesse, there are no changes to Hero’s Hyper Skills.

  79. yuqi

you need to update this post. Some of the information are outdated.

Are hyper skills replaced in maplestory red?

hi ayumi for your hyper skill,u forgotten to put the word “attack” advanced combo(passive)

  83. hayman

which is better to add Advanced Combo – Boss Killer or Advanced Final Attack – Bonus Chance. as i am weak to kill bosses in the first place and i want to have a better advance final attack chance. what do you guys think.
