MapleStory Luminous Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Legends Luminous Job Selection Luminous is one of MapleStory Hero Magician (Legend) who uses Shining Rod (primary weapon) and Orb (secondary weapon). This job uses a light/dark skill system whereby frequently using light magic skills fills your orb with darkness whereas frequently using dark magic skills fills with light. Once you fully charge up either light/dark, you will go into a state of Equilibrium for 7 seconds that allows you to activate powerful skills. After that, your orb turns either dark/light (opposite color of the one before). Using skills similar to the orb deals extra damage. Example, your orb glow is currently dark, and using dark skills deals extra damage compared to light skills and vice versa. [KMS NOTE] Luminous 1st Job Primary Skill differs based on the storyline you choose. Choosing light unlocks Flash Shower (Light Magic) whereas selecting dark unlocks Abyssal Drop (Dark Magic). Luminous gets an initial of 5 SP (1st Job) and 4 SP (2nd, 3rd, 4th Job) after completing job advancement. KMS (Korea MapleStory) released Luminous on Jul 11 2012. GMS (Global MapleStory) released Luminous on Dec 4 2012.

Luminous Pros and Cons

Pros

  • *Share your pros on this job!*
  • Incredible mobbing, some of the fastest levelling in the game. This class should never feel weak when grinding.
  • Consistent damage across the board and high lines per second from respective skills in Sunfire and Eclipse
  • HP and MP efficient, especially for a mage
  • Unique gameplay mechanic in Equilibrium
  • Amazing link (10/15/20% PDR) and high inbuilt PDR (+40% extra on Ender, the bossing skill)
  • Deceptively powerful. A little bit of funding goes a long way.
  • Ender has guaranteed crit so Luminous is free to invest in other stats.
  • Immunity to darkness status effect.
  • Has heal skill which can heal party members in front of you and yourself. Most useful in end game.

Cons

  • *Share your cons on this job!*
  • Restricted to a very bursty play pattern. If 1 Equilibrium is not enough to kill, Luminous needs to wait a minute or more for the next Equilibrium.
  • Mobile bosses like Magnus and Ranmaru or bosses with damage reflect can waste Equilibrium and force you to waste 2 minutes.
  • Slow and immobile. Good knowledge of boss mechanics is required.
  • Unfunded grinding is very very slow if only using Reflection needs constant attention.
  • Heavily buff reliant (6 buffs + Equilibrium)
  • Only 1 party buff.

4. Mana Well (MAX)
5. Flash Shower (MAX)
6. Standard Magic Guard (MAX)

Explanation:
There are few reports from Luminous players where Standard Magic Guard has caused them to spend tons of meso on MP Potion Consumption due to enemies hitting them hard and most of this damage is displaced into MP from HP, taking into consideration that MP cost double of HP. However, in my case, I have not experience this issue till Level 100+ with Standard Magic Guard max. Perhaps the training area I used to frequent, monsters are defeated in 2-3 hits, preventing them from retaliating me OR I attack them at a safe distance. For players playing in Reboot Server, skipping Luminous tutorial will end up missing 1 SP (Skill Point) for the Luminous 1st Job. If you perform the tutorial, the game will ask you to choose light/dark skills and you get all the necessary SP to max your 1st job skills.

Luminous 3rd Job Skill Build: Everything maxed except Moonlight Spear.
1. Moonlight Spear, Spectral Light, Death Scythe, Ray of Redemption (1).
2. Photic Meditation (MAX)
3. Lunar Tide (MAX)
4. Dusk Guard (MAX)
5. Spectral Light (MAX)
6. Death Scythe (MAX)
7. Ray of Redemption (MAX)
8. Shadow Shell (MAX)
9. Moonlight Spear (4/20)

Explanation
You can either max Moonlight Spear and dump remaining SP into Ray of Redemption or vice versa. Personally, I use Spectral Light more frequent compared to Moonlight Spear since it is great against monsters with high health and tightly packed monsters. However, one disadvantage regarding Spectral Light is that you need to find the right angle to attack your enemies. If you have that solved, you will be enjoying those damage popping up clouding most of your screen. Spectral Light its ideal for flat single platform whereas Moonlight Spear is capable of hitting enemies from multiple platform but ain’t that great against high HP enemies that you want to chip away their HP. Maxing Ray of Redemption gives you the ability to heal your party members but most of the case, they will have their pet to auto-pot their HP upon reaching critical levels. For those who already has Moonlight Spear max, don’t need to worry about it much since I myself seldom in use of Ray of Redemption.

Luminous Storyline

During his battle with the Black Mage, Luminous along with the other Heroes, managed to seal him away. But not before the Black Mage could impart some of his darkness on to Luminous. Luminous must now learn to control the awesomely terrifying power of the Black Mage before it threatens to consume his soul and plunge him into the world of darkness. Good thing Luminous will have some help on his journey! His trusted (and see-thru) helper, Vieren, and the first person he met after fighting the Black Mage, Laina. With the help of Vieren and Laina, will Luminous learn to wield the powers of both Light and Dark to defend Maple World before it is too late?

Luminous Notes

Light vs. Dark Attributes

  • The Global MapleStory version of Luminous is a bit different from the version of Luminous in the Korean version of MapleStory. In this version, the quests and skills have been modified to adjust gameplay flow. You won’t choose between light/dark in the beginning tutorial, and there will only be one story.
  • The story will be based on the Dark side, wherein Luminous is conflicted about the darkness within him. You will have access to light and dark skills, with the ability to switch between the two and activate buffs that will enhance one or the other attribute.
  • You will gain the light vs. dark gauge when you complete your 2nd job advancement, at which point you will also be able to switch between light and dark modes.

When switching between light and dark modes, you’ll briefly enter Equilibrium state.

  • Power Stance has a chance to be activated for a brief period, preventing you from getting knocked back.
  • Attacking monsters with light skills will recover 1% of your HP.
  • Dark skills will use 0 MP.
  • Both effects for light and dark will be applied for attack skills that have an equilibrium attribute.

Luminous Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ)

Luminous Legendary Augury from Golden Temple
Q: So I completed the Golden Temple Theme Dungeon BEFORE I got the Legendary Augury quest from Vieren (because I didn’t think to visit Vieren before I did so, and I didn’t get a pop-up on the side as I usually do). Is there any way for me to get the Legendary Augury now?
A: If you did not get a pop-up side quest, it means you have not meet the necessary requirements to unlock the Grand Crystal Quest that asks you to obtain the Legendary Augury by defeating Ravana in Golden Temple. Refer to the List of Luminous Quests on how to unlock Grand Crystal Quest.

Will you still be update the Luminous changes on RISE patch?

  2. Ayumilove Post author

    @all: Luminous 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Job Skills are updated to MapleSEA v174 aka GMS v193.

  3. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks dgnunch for stopping by to leave a comment! Are you starting to play MapleStory again? Yeah, the Japanese tutorial is still up there on Youtube to view, its been awhile I have not continued the series 🙂

  4. dgnunch

i want to say i really appreciate everything you do and have been doing for over the past decade! it’s always nice starting maplestory again and knowing exactly where to go for all the information. you put so much work into it at no cost, and then people complain about ads.. it’s a thankless job

p.s. i also remember and like that ms japanese tutorial you did a long, long time ago

    thank you

  5. Ayumilove Post author

@Carmen: Thanks for sharing your pros on Luminous. I have added it to the Pros and Cons section.

  6. Carmen

1 more pros about this job. Luminous has a heal which can heal party members in front of you and yourself. Very hard to utilize but definitely one of the most useful skill in end game stage.

  7. Sheipai

On Gms, Lumi’s first job skills doesn’t get maxed anymore. I played it just today and I noticed I needed 1 more skill point to have all maxed.

  8. LifeIsPain

Just an fyi, but in the description for punishing resonator you misspelled darkness 😉

  9. eFFeX

a big con in my eyes no portal “Home” skill

  10. Rentorock

GMS now has both Light and Dark paths for Luminous.

  11. Ayumilove Post author

@Jerry: Thanks for your feedback! I’ll update Luminous Hyper Skill Build Guide above.
Replaced “Ender – Extra Target” and “Apocalpyse – Extra Target” with “Ender – Reinforcement” and “Ender – Range Up”.

  12. Ayumilove Post author

@ManaP: It affects only the 1st job skill build. Basically swapping with light or dark skill. The rest of the skill build guide would be the same. 🙂

  13. Jerry

I think the hyperskill, apocalypse-extra target and ender-extra target should be changed because nobody uses apocalypse to farm as a luminous. I don’t think the extra target for apocalypse is helpful anywhere. On the other hand, ender-extra target is useful in mulung dojo before V-patch. We needed the extra target to hit all 3 bosses in mulung dojo. Since now we can get an extra target by leveling ender’s node/core to lv 20, I don’t think it is needed anymore.

Exception for ender-extra target: when fighting lucid and the party is lacking the ability to clear the golems (which I think it’s a rare case. Besides, not enough range to ender lucid is more common. So i think spending the last skill point to ender-range up is more useful.)

Here let me share my suggestion for lumi’s hyperskill build.

    Reflection-spread
    Reflection-range up
    Apocalypse-recharge
    Ender-reinforcement
Ender-range up(it is very useful in end game bosses such as lotus, damien and lucid)

  14. ManaP

    Hello Ayumi,

I GMS Luminous now allows you to choose between Light and Dark stories. How does this affect any SP builds? Or does it not matter at all?

    Thank you,

    ManaP

PS: Love this site, so helpful. Please continue to work hard.

  15. Ayumilove Post author

@Breadth: You can grab Equalize as soon as its unlocked by achieving the required level 🙂

  16. Breadth

Do i take Equalize as soon as it is available at 150 or do i save the Skill point for something else? Great guide btw!

  17. EdgyCatholic

    Hey Ayumi
I just created a Luminous and saw that they changed the 1st Job to be more like KMS where u choose one or the other. Which would you say is better for late game: Dark affinity or Light affinity? Or would you say its too small to actually matter?

  18. Ayumilove Post author

@Sơn: What level is your Luminous character? You should be able to view “Light Wash” (Link Skill) by opening the Skill Window, click on the “Beginner Skill” tab and click on the “Link Manager”. From there, you can view your character Link Skill if it has (Luminous has a link skill). If you have other characters created and has appointed the link skill to this Luminous character, you will also see those available link skills in Luminous Link Manager.

  19. Sơn

hi my sv is scania, i dont have light wash and only have light skill ( no abyssal drop) and while in light mode(skill enhanced is light) but in real dark skill more dmg ( idk why)

  20. Ayumilove Post author

@K: Thanks for informing about the missing SP if skipping Luminous Tutorial! I’ll add the note into the guide above 🙂

  21. K

Could you leave a note that in the Reboot server, if you skip the tutorial, you end up missing 1 SP for the 1st job?

If you do the tutorial, you can choose whether you want the light or dark skills and you get all the necessary SP to max your 1st job skills.

It was unfortunate that I ended up being 9/10 for Standard Magic Guard due to this issue.

  22. Feyd

Hey ayumi what are the best latent abilities for luminous?

  23. Ayumilove Post author

@WM: Thanks for your correction! I have updated Luminous 4th Job Skill Arcane Pitch to include the Passive Effect!

  24. WM

Hi, noticed that Arcane Pitch here is different from maplesea’s arcane pitch, maplesea’s arcane pitch also have a permanent passive effect of increasing final damage by 40% and def ignore 40%

  25. Ayumilove Post author

@Jason: Thanks for your feedback! I have updated the page to include MapleSEA Hyper Skills Level requirement.

  27. Ayumilove Post author

@Iam: Thanks for your comment! I have updated Luminous 4th Job Skill section.

  28. lam

A lot of the skills are out-dated.

    Here are some references:
    1) Mana Well is now a passive skill.
    2) Morning Star: At Master Level: Added permanent Final damage: +30%.
    3) Ender: Chance of instant KO removed.
    4) Arcane Pitch: At Master Level: Elemental Resistance reduced from 100% to 10%. Removed Ignore DEF buff. Added Final damage: +40%. Added permanent Ignore DEF: +40%.
    5) Dark Crescendo: At Master Level: Damage per stack increased from 1% to 2%, Max stacks decreased from 30 to 15, Cast delay reduced.
    6) Darkness Mastery: At Master Level: Equilibrium duration increased from 5 sec to 7 sec.

That’s all I have right now, all these from the patch note you attached at the beginning of this guide, from v.168 onwards

  29. Ayumilove Post author

@Matt: I’m not sure whether there are differences of skill power between Reboot Server and Regular server. I definitely know that the monster stats, item-meso drops differs.

  30. matt

are reboot skills different from regular servers? 1st only.had one attacking skill for me and 4th job skills lile dark crescendo and arcane pitch have passives for final damage increase

  31. Bound

Mate this one needs updated baaaaaad skill names changed/removed

  32. Kynci22

Is there any reason why 1st job lumi skills not maxed in reboot. Or is there a bug. Bc I used your skill build, and i dont have the sp to max both atk skills and finish magic guard,

  33. Qriox

@Ayumilove I recently made a Luminous in GMS Reboot and I could choose between Light and Dark Paths, Attack skills had level 20, so I guess it’s all the same for all servers?

  34. Anon

@iiAmFish Maybe its because u nvr use mastery book for the skills so its max level is low

  35. iiAmFish

Any idea why I am at level 126 and I maxed all my fourth job but I have 26 extra SP still…

  36. Ayumilove Post author

@Anonymous: Thanks for your feedback. I have added the pros into the pros and cons section.

  37. fred1357

……. JOB 1 .. NO POINT FOR MAXING EVERYTHING ….. i lose 1% mana becouse of this Luminous Skill Build Guide ….. if it is outdated say it ….

  38. Anonymous

    Add one more pros:

    Immunity to darkness status effect.

After the V patch, status resistance will be changed to reduce status duration rather than chances for status to land on you. So, consumption of all-cure pot will greatly increased due to this. Having immunity to 1 of the status helps a lot.

  39. Estelline

@Ayumilove thank you so much, and will do 😀

  40. Ayumilove Post author

@Estelline: Thanks for sharing the pros and cons for Luminous! I have replaced the existing one with yours. If you found other jobs pros and cons are outdated, feel free to submit the new ones and I’ll update them 🙂

  41. Estelline

Hi Ayumi, after Lumi’s equilibrium changes in GMS I think it deserves a new set of pros and cons.

    Pros:
    – Incredible mobbing, some of the fastest levelling in the game. This class should never feel weak when grinding.
    – Consistent damage across the board and high lines per second from respective skills in Sunfire and Eclipse
    – HP and MP efficient, especially for a mage
    – Unique gameplay mechanic in Equilibrium
    – Amazing link (10/15/20% PDR) and high inbuilt PDR (+40% extra on Ender, the bossing skill)
    – Deceptively powerful. A little bit of funding goes a long way.
    – Ender has guaranteed crit so Luminous is free to invest in other stats.

    Cons:
    – Restricted to a very bursty play pattern. If 1 Equilibrium is not enough to kill, Luminous needs to wait a minute or more for the next Equilibrium.
    – Mobile bosses like Magnus and Ranmaru or bosses with damage reflect can waste Equilibrium and force you to waste 2 minutes.
    – Slow and immobile. Good knowledge of boss mechanics is required.
    – Unfunded grinding is very very slow if only using Reflection – needs constant attention.
    – Heavily buff reliant (6 buffs + Equilibrium)
    – Only 1 party buff.

  42. suh dude

flash shower isnt on the skill tree anymore

  43. random

in maplesea, hyper passive skill for luminous reflection “spread” is at 183 not 143

  44. liblee549

    @Zippi
I will strongly recommend that you add your Hyper Stat points into Damage%, Boss%, Min. Crit. and PDR% (Def. Ignore). You must max Damage% and Boss% first as they are crucial to your damage (self-explanatory).
After maxing those 2 add your Hyper Stat into Min. Crit because Ender has a Critical Rate of 100%, and a very high Max. Crit is easily achieved by using Sharp Eyes. Hence to boost Ender’s damage you should add your Hyper Stat points into Min. Crit. At this point I will strongly recommend Kinesis’s Link Skill as it gives you 8% Min. Crit.
Lastly for PDR%. Previously before Heroes of Maple Luminous’s Arcane Pitch has a 100% Resist Ignore but now it is nerfed BADLY to 10%. In this case you will most likely need a high PDR% to counter that. I am not so sure about the Elemental Resist, whether it adds YOUR elemental resist or REDUCES enemy’s elemental resist, so to play safe I add those SP into PDR%.

  45. Zippi

May i know how would you have assigned your hyper stats points? Not the skill points.

  46. Moaz

    @NewInMaple
Yes, reboot is all about mesos so yeah he is pretty good. Not really good bosser though.

  47. NewInMaple

Is luminous good in reboot server and unfunded?

  48. Ayumilove Post author

@BlankState: Previously MapleStory (2008 to 2012) required players to add AP (Ability Points) into 2 attributes (primary and secondary). For example, Warrior’s primary attribute is Strength and secondary attribute is Dexterity. The reason why they need Dexterity is to increase their accuracy to hit monsters and to be able to use equips that requires Dexterity stats.

After MapleStory Tempest updates (released in July 2012), MapleStory has removed the requirement of secondary stat from equips, and auto-assign stat system now only adds into Primary stat of your job (which simplifies things a lot and avoids confusing new players). I would highly recommend you to use the auto-AP stat for your character to avoid adding into the wrong stats.

Basically, all warriors add AP into STR/Strength (except Demon Avenger which needs HP instead of STR). All bowmen add AP into DEX/Dexterity. All magicians adds AP into INT/Intelligence. All thieves add AP into LUK/Luck. There are a bunch of special characters such as Xenon which needs 3 types of stats (STR + DEX + LUK) = use auto-AP assign to ease AP distribution.

  49. BlankState

    Hello,

    (First time player)
Is there any basic guide to which attributes you should assign state points to? I’ve read a few that say build into intelligence and luck, but is that like a 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 ratio?

I apologize for my noobishness ahead of time…

  50. Ayumilove Post author

@DarkStars: I believe there isn’t any SP reset scrolls that you can purchased with meso except for ACash (MapleSEA) or NXCash (GMS) from Cash Shop.

  51. DarkStars

Hi, where can get a SP reset scroll with meso?? I had add wrg skills for my luminous.

@LegitDeath: You can purchase Mastery Books from an NPC at Leafre. It’s Mastery Book 20 and Mastery Book 30. Upon purchasing it, double-click on that book and it will reveal which Luminous skill you would like to unlock the level cap.

  54. LegitDeath

Hi, do you know where to buy luminous mastery books?

  55. xAntiLumiXx

Hi, does anyone still being logged out for using hack due to Lumi Ender skill on mob?

  56. Tilted

    what are the auguries for??

  57. Ic3y

    Hello Ayumi,

Good to you see you still doing what you do here for the MS community.
Just a quick question for you ma’am, What would be the best Hyper Stat build focused around mobbing ONLY for both funded AND unfunded (GMS) players alike.
    Int./Critical Chance/Min. Crit./Max. Crit./PDR/Total DMG ?

  58. Unknowed

    Hi,

I would like to inform u that in SEA,light path does not have abyssal drop which in replacement, the flash shower is max lvl 20.only dark path has abyssal drop and flash shower is max lvl 10.

Also, what requirement to change the UI such that from using a dark skill gains light(and vice versa) to dark skill gains dark(and vice versa)?(and can u explain how to get equilibrium from that dark skill gain dark(and vice versa))

  59. Rusydi

How do you set them to level up 3 at a time instead of 1?

  60. KMusic

Hi, I’m curious about the differences in luminous between regions. I know that GMS and SEA have a different Light/Dark system, but how about SEA and KMS? Do SEA and KMS have a difference in perhaps the skills or the light/dark system?

  61. Ayumilove Post author

@Rusydi: Luminous is a classes as a Magician. Therefore, add AP into INT for damage. The new MapleStory magician equipment does not require and LUK (seconday stat for Magician) in order to use them.

  62. Rusydi

Im new to luminous. So do i put all ability points at int or what? If i do so,how do i get to equip stronger weapons without luk? Im not so rich or anything so if i were to use scrolls..i dont have the money to do so 🙁

  63. chew

what can i do when i didnt max my death scythe and in my 4th job skill i cannot acess to the skill darkness mastery ?

  64. Andy

I´m confused , im playing luminous but in dark mode abilities the dark ones still use mana, despite the 0 mana indication of eclipse, also they heal me like the light mode and they use the same mana you know something about this?

  65. Isis

New England Patriots Atlanta Braves Women NFL

  66. LumiPls

Now I understood, thank you ~~

  67. Ayumilove Post author

@Yanting: Monsters do drop Luminous equipment (weapon, armor). You could also purchase them from other sellers in Freemarket or perhaps crafting Luminous equipment if hunting equipment does not work for you. 🙂

  68. Ayumilove Post author

@LumiPls: For Reflection Hyper Skill, it’s recommended to add HSP (Hyper Skill Point) into Reflection Spread and Reflection Range Up. Spread allows you to not have your damage decreased when the Reflection is damage chaining multiple enemies while Range Up allows you to attack enemies far away from you while avoiding damage, which is great against bosses. You wouldn’t want to keep getting annoyed by boss knockback if you are being closed to him. Each time he knockbacks you, your DPS (Damage Per Second) drops. Furthermore, the added range is beneficial when you want to eliminate monsters which is located far away without the need to teleport towards the enemy. However, if your personal gaming/playing preference is to stay close to enemies, it would be recommended to max Reflection – Reinforce. If you have reached max damage range (damage capped) with godly scrolled/potential equip, it will be much more convenient to have Reflection – Range Up for bossing. This concept same applies with Ender Reinforce vs Range Up.

  69. LumiPls

I wanna ask u that why don’t u add the point in Reinforce Skill cause it increase %Dam?

  70. Yanting

HI! Do you have any idea how to hunt/attain luminous weapons? 🙂

  71. Ayumilove Post author

@QRin: For 4th job skill build, it’s recommended to max in the order using mastery books 20+30. If you are unfunded, you can max the skills in that order without purchasing mastery books, but it would get a little difficult to train at higher levels when your primary damage boosting skills aren’t fully max to defeat enemies quickly.

  72. QRin

Ayumi , the 4th job skills should I max it in your order and use the mastery books to max them to lv30 then continue with the others?

  73. Clifford

I felt annoy luminous attack speed slow

  74. Ayumilove Post author

@Linteum: You can use it on “Reflection” to boost your 4th job primary attacking skill or if you would like overall boost to your damage, go for “Magic Mastery”.

  75. Linteum

On what skill should i use my mastery book first?

  76. Ayumilove Post author

@Takyaa: Thanks for the comparison skill details for Luminous. Hopefully MSEA could quickly revamp Luminous skill to make it more balance.

  77. Takyaa

Hello Everyone, this is the differences of luminous’s skills between GMS and SEA

    GMS Reflection 30 – 420%
    SEA Reflection 30 – 300%

SEA’s reflection skill cast range also much more shorter than GMS’s
You can find the differences from the videos in Youtube.

    GMS Apocalypse 30 – 340%
    SEA Apocalypse 30 – 350%

    GMS Light Speed 20 – Range 300,500
    SEA Light Speed 20 – Range 170,300

I’m a luminous player in SEA Cassiopeia and I do feel sad about it.
Our Light Speed(teleport) and Reflection are too weak, Even in Chaos Bellum boss run, I barely able to dodge those skills (especially fire bolt).

It might be due to my lacks of skills but I did able to dodge all of them with other job’s flash jump / mage tele.

Hoping SEA to revamp it. If not it’ll be really unfair.

  78. felixiiah

    Hi,

I’m currently at 2nd job advance but i cant find the hidden street for the firefly slime. can anyone help me?

  79. Raymond Tan

    Thanks Ayumi reply

  80. Ayumilove Post author

@Raymond Tan: Luminous Equilibrium skill is different between KMS, GMS and MSEA. No additional quest is required to get the new style.

  81. Raymond Tan

    Dear, Ayumi

I am the lumi player from MapleSea, i want to ask you why my Equilibrium skill is different with watch through any video/yotube. my skill is circle shape, but i watch through youtube or gameplay, that skill is cube style. izit need to clear any quest to get it that style? and the black/white wing is the cash item? or lumi skill?

    and.. err isn’t mana well 11% and 30% not +30 and +11?

  84. RamenPanda

    What does PDR stand for?

  85. Iluminatis

    For my Luminous in MapleSEA,

Reflection – Reinforce is Level 143
Reflection – Range Up is Level 183

Apocalypse – Reinforce is Level 149
Apocalypse – Recharge is Level 168
Apocalypse – Extra Target is Level 189

Ender – Reinforce is Level 155
Ender – Extra Target is Level 177
Ender – Range Up is Level 195

Reinforce is usually the lowest level for any Hyper Skill

  88. Strongman6

Any news on reflection getting buffed on msia yet? And why is msea luminous light and dark gauge different from the one in gms?

  89. Lumii

I accidentally didnt put any points into shadow shell. My Luminous is lvl 105 now, should i re make it?

  90. AvengeLumi

@tan1821, that has since changed. MP3 or Mysterious Path 3 is only recommended if you are like level 140+ and have decent damage to kill them. They also do good damage to you as well at that level (they are level 155). So, you will miss much.

At that level, Drakes 60-70 in Sleepy Wood is best for you. RNJ from 70-150. 150+, I recommend to do Dimension until 165. 165+, do SDH (Second Drill Hall).

  91. tan1821

    @AhPushHaGaRa: u can go singapore mysterious path 1 – 3 if u want to train from lvl 70 – 100. Or u can do r and j quest at lvl 70.

  92. AhPushHaGaRa

Thanks for the guide. It really helped. I’m level 60 now, (spectral light rocks) I’m looking for a training spot for level 60-70 and jesters don’t cut it. Where should I go? 🙁

@Holly: I’m not sure. Perhaps a kind Luminous player could share his/her experience regarding the damage range for unfunded.

  94. Ayumilove Post author

@Dan: Thanks for the notice! I have corrected “Reflection – Range Up” and “Reflection – Reinforce” Level requirement.

  95. Ayumilove Post author

@KoreanSwaq: Thanks for the notice. Abyssal Drop has been added to 1st job SP Build.

  96. KoreanSwaq

1st job sp build doesnt have abyssal drop.

  97. Dan

    Reflection range – Level 143 I think .
    Reflection Reinforce – Level 183 😉

    Great guide tho .

  98. Holly

What should the approximate range for a level 160 lumi be? (Not funded either)

  99. Ayumilove Post author

@Jhay: Thanks for your feedback! I have updated Luminous Beginner skills description which includes the Eclipse, Light Wash, Flash Blink skill. Kindly inform if I miss any. Thanks 🙂

  100. Jhay

Wait nevermind it doesn’t anymore 🙂 you should change that part Ayumi 🙂 hehe

  101. Jhay

Ayumi I have a question. In beginner skill eclipse description it’s says “All dark skill deals extra 50% damage and uses 0 MP.” does the zero MP consumption still apply to the current version of GMS?

    Thanks

  102. Ayumilove Post author

    [GMS v.154]
    1. Equalize skill description has been updated.
    2. Morning Star attack delay is set to 210ms.
    3. Ender attack count increased by 1 (7 → 8)

  103. jerry

Excuse me, I am from msea. I got 90% boss right now and what skill should i use when i am in light. reflection 300% or spectral light 121%. And i heard of the boss % is str8 add into skill damage % such as spectral light 121%, when i am hitting a boss i got 211% damage on boss. Is that true? Please help me solve this two trouble, they are really annoyed 🙁

  104. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Jerry, you will have a base stat of 13,4,4,4 (similarly to the olden MapleStory days), therefore, at Level 1 you will have 25 AP (Ability Points) clean. If you are level 205, 205-1=204, 204 x 5 AP (5 Ability Points Per Level) = 1020. 1020+25 = 1045 AP. Assuming you have distributed into INT 999 and LUK 23 (999+23=1022AP used in stats), you used 23AP into MP. Hope that helps 🙂

  105. jerry

Dear Ayumi, I am from msea and i got messed up. I am lv 205 i added MANY a into mp. So now i don’t know i added how many in it but i got information i got 999 int and 23luk can you help me find it up?

  106. Komplain

Hi Ayumi ( and any good soul who can help ), I’m wondering how the Max MP increase on each level of Luminous exactly works. I want the best possible MP pool since I have the 4% Map MP dmg boost. Is it only the base INT ( which means only your AP points ), or does bonus INT from gear and other passives also go in the equation ? Your help would be really appreciated, nice article btw ! 😀

  107. Luna

Why does Spell Mastery say “Required Skill: Spell Mastery (MAX)”?

  108. jerry

Dear ayumi, if I have 3 pet auto buff skill what should I probably give it to buff for luminous. Should i use dusk guard and mana well buff they seem like adding defend mana only. And each crit % add ender how many percent damage.

  109. Eric

    Thanks for the help XD

  110. Ayumilove Post author

@Winston: No skill book required as MSEA has released RED patch. All skills are automatically unlock at 4th Job advancement. 4th Job Skills that needs to unlock level 20 and 30 can purchase the mastery book in Leafre NPC for 20m 30m I guess. Deck of cards is obtained automatically when you create new character which is above level 30. To access this cards, you need to go to the character selection page, and click the deck of card button.

  111. Winston

    Hi ayumilove,

Can ask you. how to get skill books for 4th job in msea? how to get the deck of cards?

  112. IcchouDoudai

Which skill does more damage per second, reflection or apocolypse?

  113. Tyler

You forgot to add on that a skill point was given for 2 skills, Flash Shower and Abyssal Drop upon the first job advancement.

  114. Ayumilove Post author

@Bryan: Fastest way I build damage is to get as many link skill character pointing to your main. Next, setup deck of card (best to get all S, S S rank). Then buy some cubes and potential your scrolled equipment. Buy scrolls from FreeMarket, scroll your weapon. If you are not hardcore, don’t spend your money on Cash Shop. Just save up some meso and purchase already scrolled potential equips from Free Market.

  115. Bryan Chang

Ayumilove, how do I increase the damage of my luminous cause it was really weak and could you please tell me the best place to buy equips in Maplesea. Thank you. I enjoy reading your guides.

  116. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Joshua, you need to complete a quest to unlock Hero’s Will. However, once RED patch is released on MapleSEA, it will be made available to you instantly upon 4th Job Advancement as Luminous (This also applies to the rest of the jobs too for Maple Warrior and Hero’s Will).

  117. Joshua

does lumin in Msea have Hero’s will? I can’t seem to find it on my list

  118. Fate

Hello AyumiLove, I’m really curious but is there a difference between choosing Light or Dark side? I only know that you get more storyline quest by choosing Light.

  119. lumiguy

hi ayumi luminous’s spectral light is only 121% in maplesea 🙁

  120. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Darrel, I think Luminous is OK for bossing, basically all jobs are good. But the ones which are best usually has more passive skills and has their primary skill that deals multiple hits against multiple monsters very quickly + high critical rate. One of the best characters would be Xenon. Luminous needs to charge their equilibrium before they can use the Ender skill. Those skills that requires cooldown or has high delay can’t be used much to deal high DPS.

  121. Ello

of cuz that was considering equal funding

  122. Ello

@darrel: hes act great at bossing due to his equilibrium ( 1dmg, ignore all dmg reflect etc) but his skills are pretty slow, meaning low DPS and hence taking quite a while to kill boss. if i didnt rmb wrongly, hes one of the lowest in DPS chart. But these all doesnt mean much as he still capable of killing, juz slower

  123. Darrel

Hi again ayumilove, I know I’m asking a lot of questions, and sorry if it might be annoying, but I have another question: what makes luminous no so great at bossing? Is luminous worse than other classes when bossing?
    Thx.

  124. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Darrel, currently I play GMS and MSEA MapleStory 🙂

  125. Darrel

Hi Ayumilove. Thx for your quick response. I guess I’ll lvl my Phantom just to lvl 70 for the link skill, and stop from there. But i wish GMS hadn’t changed Luminous storyline and the Light/Dark system. KMS Luminous seems more fun, and the Light/Dark gauge in KMS looks a lot cooler.

And one other question: which maplestory do you play, ayumilove?
    KMS, GMS, SEA, etc…

    Thx again.

  126. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Darrel, Luminous and Phantom is roughly the same. However, I like the flexibility that Luminous offers in terms of range attacks and variety of skills at your disposal. However, Luminous one disadvantage is the switching of light/dark. You might love/hate it (a new system to be learn to take advantage of it). For instance, if you like to use the Light Skill based on your training ground, you will need to switch back to Dark Skill which might not be efficient. Phantom is easier to play since its similar to most jobs, just that it can use skills from other jobs as well by copying/stealing. Phantom skills aren’t that great (slightly below average compared to Luminous) that is why its compensated with stolen skills.

  127. Darrell

    Hi ayumilove
    Is Phantom stronger than Luminous?
I’m thinking of making phantom, but is it a good class even when it’s unfunded?
I’m asking because i already have a luminous, but i don’t want to make phantom and later regret of making it.

    thx for your hard work

  128. Ayumilove Post author

@OppaDen: Thanks for the information regarding the GMS and MSEA having different method (KMS – requires player to choose either 1) whereas GMS allows both 😀 I have included a note in Luminous 1st job skills should the comment be buried deep.

  129. Ayumilove Post author

@heyyyy: Thanks for the comment. It helps players from different region understand why there is a mix of different max level 🙂

  130. heyyyy

oh ok thanks! so in that case light is preferred then

  131. OppaDen

Only GMS Have both skill, others that follow KMS, like Msea, have to choose one side, light or dark in 1st job hence fitting Ayumi guild, where it is suited for most MS

  132. heyyyy

if you follow the current descriptions, 20 sp will be short of maxing everything. but i read from some sources that both abyssal drop and flash shower all only 10 sp to max. only with this then it tallies so 😀

  133. heyyyy

Hey ayumi! you forgot about including sp allocation for abysmal drop in first job 😀

  134. unknown

do I not add sp for abyssal drop?

  135. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Jennifer for the tip 😀 I used to have my Jr. Boogie along while I was actively training too, but my character still drank some MP potions. Power Leveling 😀

  136. Jennifer

Regarding MP (over)usage when maxing Magic Guard too early (which I accidentally did), you can get the Jr. Boogie familiar to help replenish your MP. I haven’t really had to buy any pots other than when killing bosses. When I’m not actively training, I put the familiar away so it can replenish its vitality.

  137. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Udin, GMS reflection damage is 420% whereas KMS is 400%. I’m not sure whether MSEA would leave Luminous nerfed at that current status.

  138. Udin

I want to ask about the skill damage in this guide. In MapleSEA, at master level, reflection damage only 300%. Or this guide is after luminous revamp? Please let me know.

  139. Udin

I want to add about getting the legendary augury in Golden Temple. Golden Temple is accessible at level 130 in MapleSEA. So it will take some time before you can finish the quest. Perhaps in other region, the map is accessible via Map of Dimension exactly at level 115.

I also have question to ask. The damage for all skills is different based on region right? In MapleSEA, for example, Reflection damage at max level only 300% instead as listed in the guide. Is it any revamp for MapleSEA which will increase the damage for many skills?

  140. Udin

Hello. I want to share something about luminous. If you have many normal adventurer card (mage), you should use all. In order to help reduce mp pot usage. I use ice lightning card, bishop card and fire poison card in one deck. This three card give good effect which is adding % max mp as damage. Besides, ice lightning card itself give magic attack base on level of character. Luminous card give INT which can increase MP. Evan card also can regain mp, also can regain more mp. Furthermore, xenon link skill also give 10% all stat at lv2, enhance max mp at the same time each lvl up.

  141. zero

MapleSea 3rd job spectral light lvl 1 is only 102% dmg and increases by 1% each lvl

  142. Kibou

    hey ayumi is me again.
i know this is hard but,
can you make the voice for skillcast of Luminous and translate them?

  143. Blazeman22

do u not put any points in abyssal drop because u didn’t mention it at all in the skill build for 1st job

  144. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Short Pencil, the main character is the one you enjoy playing the most. For me, my main is a Demon Slayer because it has so many moves to play with instead of just relying on 1 skill to kill enemies. Also, it has exp rate buff skill that allows you to earn additional experience from monsters kill, making it easier and faster to level up similarly to a Bishop/Priest. It’s quite agile too since you can glide in air and perform high jumps to reach the platform above you. It’s an all in one package class. Different people would have different playing style and their likes, so you do not need to follow my main character 😀

  145. Short Pencil

i am sorry for all the questions, i am just making sure i pick the right class

  146. Short Pencil

Who is your main character ayumi and would you recommend him for new players

  147. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Short Pencil, preferably Mercedes to start off first with. Get it to Level 70 and use the link skill for your main character like Luminous.

  148. Short Pencil

What Hero would you prefer for new players with 0 fund?

  149. blazeman22

u forgot to mention flash speed in your 1st job skill build

  150. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Chelsea Marie, most Legendary Heroes are good class for unfunded, especially the special ones such as Demon Avenger and Mercedes.

  151. blazeman22

so which is better light or darkness skills?

  152. Chelsea Marie

Is Luminous a good class for unfunded

  153. NovaKaiser

excuse me. may i know how to get luminous orb above 30 level?

  154. Ayumilove Post author

Hi LumiPower, Xenon i stronger than Mercedes.

  155. Lumipower

So mercedes is stronger than xenon?

  156. Lumipower

So mercerdes is stronger than xenon?

  157. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Chau, thanks for the correction! I have added High Wisdom into Luminous 2nd Job Skill Build.

  158. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Lumipower, Xenon is super strong. I have played both Luminous and Xenon, damage is like 1K+ more with clean equips. When I play my Mercedes, damage is so much further than my Xenon.

  159. Lumipower

    Is luminous or xenon stronger

  160. Chau

hey, Ayumi, in 2nd job, you are missing the High Wisdom in guide build SP

  161. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Lumipower, Luminous do need mastery books to unlock certain skill to its ultimate potential (which is max mastery level 30)

  162. Lumipower

Does luminous 4th job need mastery book?

  163. Yu Han Tay

I’d just like to know, are the job quests for both light and dark paths the same from level 30 onwards? Is there any difference at all (before level 30, the nature/content of the quests is different – light path helps the people of ellinia but the dark path threatens them instead)

  164. Yun

Thank you Udin!! Now i have confidence to complete all the quests:D

  165. Udin

For Von Leon Castle, you don’t have to fight Von Leon in order to complete the quest because along the way, you will eventually complete the quest.I started at Von Leon Castle around lv120. For Ravana, when you kill the fake Ravana, you will get the augury dropped. The chain quest started when you reach lv130.

  166. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Udin for your feedback regarding the quests on Von Leon Castle and Ravana! Was it difficult to defeat Von Leon and Ravana as mentioned by Yun? Could you recall the level of your Luminous when attempting on these 2 quests?

  167. Udin

Hello. I have completed the quests regarding luminous at von leon castle and ravana. For the von leon, I just finished all the quests till the time you can enter to fight Von Leon( if I remember correctly).

For Ravana, I do all the required quests till you fight fake ravana but make sure you quest is active so that fake ravana will drop the augury.

    I hope this is helpful.

  168. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Yun and Cured, I do not know about how difficult it is to defeat them since I have not done the Luminous Quest for the Storyline. Maybe someone else can share their experience in this 🙂

  169. Yun

I am too thinking about the same issue which posted by Cured but as his/her question didnt get reply, I am gonna repost it.

‘ Is it hard to defeat von leon or ravana for the luminous’quests when my luminous is lvl 130 now? Coz I really want to know the whole storyline and a party is really hard to form due to lack of ppl. Btw, I play MSEA :D’ originally from Cured

  170. remeo

    Hi ayumi ,
Can a lvl200 luminous with 15k hp 150k mp tank a boss reflect damage?
I hear ppl say reflect damage due about 80k damage depends on what boss so if luminous magic guard work – 15%hp – 85%mp should can rite but i hear ppl oso say reflect spell ignore magic guard totally n doesn’t work ?

  171. lmogumogu

hi ayumi, im afraid Light Speed skill isn’t included in the 1st job skill guide.

  172. Annoyed888

Hey, I was wondering how to complete the grand crystal quest when I completed the golden temple quest before hand. Does this mean i have to kill the actual ravana boss to get the augury?

  173. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Howlongdiduplaymaplestory, both are great. Xenon has more different skills to play with, so I prefer for Xenon.

  174. Howlongdiduplaymaplestory

Hi ayumi , xenon and luminous , which one do you prefer ?

  175. Ayumilove Post author

Hi MC, if Luminous is lock (character creation button is grayed) you can’t create until MapleStory Nexon GMS unlocks it during some event.

  176. MC

I probably sound so dumb for asking this. But how do you even become a Luminous on the Global Maplestory?

  177. AngelicLuminous

moonlight spear does have advantage of not having a charge-up time so u can hit monsters immediately if they are near
I barely use ray of redemption though

  178. Ayumilove Post author

Hi 4EVERAyumiloveFANS, either 1 will be good but depends on what you usually use. For me, I don’t find myself using Ray of Redemption since most party members would just heal themselves with potions during critical HP, whereas Moonlight Spear isn’t really good at killing monsters that requires 3-4 hits when Spectral Light can destroy them easily and hit mobs located far away from you at any direction from a safe strategic position.

  179. 4EVERAyumiloveFANS

    Hey Ayumilove ! 😀

About the LUMINOUS 3RD JOB SKILLS,

do you max Moonlight Spear and dump remaining SP into Ray of Redemption?

    OR

do you max Ray of Redemption and dump remaining SP into Moonlight Spear?

  180. rinnie

light speed and high wisdom isn’t included in the above guides? when should i start maxing them?

  181. Ayumilove Post author

Hi AngelicLuminous, I have corrected the label. Thanks for the notice 🙂

  182. AngelicLuminous

oh sorry I think I saw wrongly
but what attribute allows it to get mp

  183. AngelicLuminous

    yeah that’s what I thought
but u labeled it as supportive

  184. Ayumilove Post author

Hi MajinTenshi, my Luminous trains without ever consuming MP Potions till Level 105+ The monsters are killed in a matter of 2-3 hits. Also, Luminous have this attribute where they can replenish a portion of their MP quickly in percentage. If you are training on mini-bosses such as Crocky the Gatekeeper, these monsters do pack a punch. But these monsters have been nerfed in GMS Unleashed Update. Try to train on monsters where you can constantly knockback to prevent them from advancing close to you to avoid retaliation.

  185. Ayumilove Post author

Hi I just parked at B1, which part needs reworking?

  186. Ayumilove Post author

Hi AngelicLuminous, Luminous Standard Magic Guard is passive skill, unlike the rest of the Magician’s Magic Guard.

  187. AngelicLuminous

why isn’t standard magic guard a passive skill?

  188. Ayumilove Post author

Hi I just parked at B1, I have corrected the Luminous Spell Mastery picture. Thanks for the notice!

  189. I just parked at B1

spell mastery picture wrong le =,=
no wonder I keep finding can’t find that pic

  190. I just parked at B1

hey ayumi… I not saying that your guide is bad but…..
lumi guide ain’t as good as the others…

  191. AngelicLuminous

hi majintenshi, I constantly use mana well whenever it almost finishes. I also have an Evan character card, which allows me to get x% of my mp back every minute, where x ranges from 2-5 based on character card rank and u have 70% chance of getting mp per every minute, which is extremely likely. due to luminous’ high mp, I haven’t run out of mp with this strategy, despite my Evan being only lvl 30 (coz I didn’t bother haha)

  192. MajinTenshi

Ayumilove, i am having trouble with potions, i always have to use them and it is really annoying because the mobs damage alot more on to my MP. Please help! I am not funded and only have 300m 🙁

  193. Cured

Is it hard to defeat von leon or ravana for the luminous’quests when my luminous is lvl 130 now? Coz I really want to know the whole storyline and a party is really hard to form due to lack of ppl. Btw, I play MSEA 😀

  194. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Its Me, grab Magic Mastery Mastery Book. This helps to reduce the gap between minimum and maximum damage. Therefore, you will be constantly inflicting high damage against enemy. The skill also passively bump up your weapon attack, therefore its a good skill to begin maxing early.

  195. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Pau, for me, I did not use it for training let alone healing party members since they often use potion instead as its much faster and you save your time by killing enemy faster instead of healing them. This prevents enemies from inflicting even more damage to your party members.

  196. Its Me

Hey ayumilove, got a event that give me choose all this skillbooks : refelction, morning star, Apocalypse, Ender, Dark Crescendo, Arcane Pitch and magic mastery. which one should I choose??

  197. pau

Hi Ayumi-chan, thanks for the reply. Have another question that’s bugging me. Saw in some other guides that suggested maxing “Ray of Redemption” over “Moonlight Spear”. This is because of the “healing” effect for pt members.

My question is, is it worth maxing? I mean, what about leaving Death Scythe and maxing both Moonlight and Ray? Should maxing Ray over Moonlight even be considered?

  198. Cloudspell

Hi ayumi. It’s cloud(again XD). In you 2nd job skill build the skill you wrote as Spell Booster is actually Magic Booster. You might want to correct that. Also, your image for Spell Mastery icon is different from the one I see when playing. I’m on maplesea.

  199. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Justin for the correction, I’ll update the skills specs for Lunar Tidal’s Critical Rate, Death Scythe Cooldown and Arcane Pitch 🙂

  200. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Helpme, I could not recall on Ellin Forest Disaster Quest. Perhaps someone here might have an idea about it 🙂

But from what I know, Lady of the Corrupted Forest is the quest you are looking for which requires you to talk to Perzen and he will ask you to defeat Queen Ephenia the Fairy Queen of Ellin Forest. Completing this task will reward you half a million experience points. After that, talk to Athena Pierce to receive Ellin Forest Guardian Title who is located in Camp Conference Room. But before you can get to Lady o the Corrupted Quest, you need to complete a series of +20 quest to unlock it. To get started with Ellin Quest, you will need to be Level 95 and do this quest : Invitation to Ellin Forest.

  201. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Joe, Apocalypse-Recharge enables each Apocalypse you trigger fills up your gauge even more. For example, if it were to fill up 10% of your bar, it now fills up 15% with Apocalphyse-Recharge. Apocalypse – Extra Target is the one that increases the amount of enemy you can hit when you cast that skill, not increasing the number of hits per enemy.

  202. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Btkl, for me I’ll use the Mastery Books based on the skill build guide (depends on which skill I want to max first) I’ll use all my mastery books to upgrade each 4th job skill so it does not use up my inventory space 🙂

  203. Ayumilove Post author

Hi tako, here are all Luminous mastery books you should grab : Light Reflection, Morning Starfall, Apocalypse, Absolute Kill ,Dark Cresendo, Darkness Sorcery, Magic Mastery. However, max them in sequence based on the skill build guide.

  204. Ayumilove Post author

Hi annoyed, I’ll try my best to answer all 🙂

  205. Annoyed

Ayumi i know you are busy, but can you please try to reply to every reply at least briefly? Instead of only replying the latest reply you see, because that makes it hard to reach you.

  206. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Pau, it does not really matter since you will be using both of them in 3rd and 4th job.

  207. pau

Hi Ayumi, Just created Luminous.. does it matter which path I choose? Light or Dark??

  208. Btkl

Hi Ayumilove. I have been following some of your guides recently. I want to ask what mastery book should I use for Lumi? I have used Apocalypse 30 which I found pretty useless. I also used Magic Mastery 20 and have a Magic Master 30. Should I use my Magic Mastery 30?

  209. tako

What other skill book other than magic mastery should i grab?

  210. ShYGuY154

It increases the rate to fill up a bar on the darkness side of the Orb Indicator in GMS OR, increases the rate to fill up a bar on the light side of the Orb Indicator in KMS (I think).

  211. Joe

Hi Ayumi! 😀 I got this question and I din’t understand what it means. Luminous hyperskills, Apocalypse-Recharge says it increase the gauge amount of Apocalypse. What does it meant by increase gauge amount? Is it number of attacks? Hope to hear your answer because this is confusing. :3 thanks!

  212. Helpme

With the Ellin Forest Disaster quest, do you have to defeat that queen fairy person? Because i passed lvl 110 and have not got the Commander Von Leon quest. I think the Ellin quest may be where i got of track. Help?

  213. Justin

Hi, the skills lunar tidal’s critical rate is 30%, death scythe cooldown at lvl 1 is 34 secs and arcane pitch doesn’t give critical anymore.

  214. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Beyond, Luminous receives approximately 124 SP (Skill Points)

  215. Beyond

Sry my so should be sp.

  216. Beyond

Ayumi. Can I know how much so luminous will get in 3rd job at MSea.

  217. Lumi4ever

If you want power and damage, put one SP into attacking skill, and max magic mastery, followed by dark crecendo and maple warrior. Then do arcane pitch. I have a lv 120 lumi so i know.

  218. MrLuminous

Can i ask is arcane pitch and dark cresendo useful ? Should i max it first or attacking skill first?

  219. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Ryan, grab Magic Mastery Mastery Book.

  220. Ayumilove Post author

Hi AngelivLuminous, thanks for the correction! I’ll be updating the guide above now.

  221. Ryan

hi ayumi, what should I get for my level 70 mastery book?

  222. AngelicLuminous

oh mana well requires 0 mp starting from lvl 1 to 20
    in msea

  223. AngelicLuminous

hi ayumilove in msea mana well requires 0 mp at lvl 20

  224. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DeSmowy, my mistake. It’s actually 3rd job.

  225. cheh1

    Hello Ayumi.

It seems in MSEA both Sunfire and Eclipse have “Light/Dark skills deals 50% more damage, costs 50% less MP, heals 1% HP for each attack”

    just to let you know

  226. Zachary

Hi Ayumi, do note that the number of hits for apocalypse is 6 and not 1, this can actually be seen in the video u posted too, Do make the correction!

  227. DeSnowy

But in maplesea I got my equilibrium at 3rd job o.o

  228. Ayumilove Post author

Hi fastflare, try using different light/dark element. And use your equilibrium state.

  229. Ayumilove Post author

Hi alloy, its more on if the skill is suited for the training ground.

  230. Ayumilove Post author

Hi KaiserHater, Luminous gets Equilibrium in 2nd Job. It is already described in the guide above.

  231. KaiserHater

Erm Hi Ayumi,i would like to ask at which job does luminous get to have Equilibrium?

  232. fastflare

I have a problem with my luminous character.
Its light/dark gauge doesn’t show any change. It’s just stuck there. I know it’s my computer’s problem but i don’t know what it is exactly. I’m running on windows 8

  233. alloy

Do you guys prefer light or dark side?

  234. S

I think the pro would be that you are able to switch between light and dark unlike other jobs which is creative and the con might be that ….. the shining rod is a little be rare to find? i am not sure so please correct me if i am wrong.

  235. Yeo Zhi Han

Also, the medal “Opponent of Destiny Medal”
is spelled wrongly under its stats
    “Opponent of Desinty Medal Stats
    MaxHP: +50, Magic Attack: +3, Accuracy: +5
    1. This equipment is un-tradable
    2. This equipment is un-salable
    3. This equipment is a one-of-a-kind item.”

  236. Yeo Zhi Han

Hey Ayumi which skill book should I get as my lv70 reward?

  237. Ayumilove Post author

Hi S, perhaps you can share some of the pros and cons after you have created your Luminous character and I,ll be happy to post in the guide above.

  238. kanggary

ayumi.i got something to asked you..when i was 2nd job i max spell booster j1st then just max high wisdom.. it is will be any effect it the later period?

  239. DeSnowy

Yes it’s release already, the selection for luminous is just to the right of kaiser

  240. ysstory

    For KMS version it’s easier~

  241. edeathd

yow…is this the GMS or KMS version? cuz in maplesea…they use the KMS version…and when i took light path…the i don’t have abyssal drop and dark affinity >.<

  242. Isaac

Haha I’m also in maplesea, excited

  243. S

Why do you not have pro and cons for Luminous?

  244. S

Today is the release date for Luminous! I am from maplesea so its slower but when i log in, it turned out to be kaiser trailer, the maplewiki still says it is still 12 of June, is it true?

  245. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Someone for the correction. I’ll be updating it right away 🙂

  246. Someone

Luminous uses 1 handed rod ain’t 2 handed… please change it..

  247. Ayumilove Post author

Hi LWZ, visit youtuube.com and search for GMS Luminous ALl SKill Preview. You will see the feather crystal panel.

  248. LWZ

Ayumilove, can you give some examples regarding the comment “GMS Luminous (with the feather GUI/panel) can opt to switch to either light/dark mode based on the situation, allowing players to spam specific skill element based on the training ground. “

  249. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks LWZ for the note. This makes the gameplay a little easier but less flexible. KMS version can be seen as an auto-car where you do not have the option to change to specific gear at certain time, whereas for GMS Luminous (with the feather GUI/panel), they can opt to switch to either light/dark mode based on the situation, allowing players to spam specific skill element based on the training ground which I prefer best 🙂

  250. ShYGuY154

    @Darrel;
Luminous has gotten nerfed in both KMS and GMS versions, with Apocalypse, Reflection and a couple of other skills lowered in damage. However, Reflection’s range has increased, making it pretty insane since it can pretty much hit almost every mob in Aliens Chamber 6, or half the map in LHC’s crockies.

  251. I talk maple

    Hi Ayumi
    Is dem
    on avenger or luminous stronger

  252. Darrel

    Hi Ayumilove
I’ve heard that luminous got nerfed after the patch
    is this true?

  253. shiyong lua

I thought luminous in SEA will gonna be in kms version?

  254. Ayumilove Post author

Hi NightTime, there isn’t any conclusive news on to which MapleSEA follows, but most probably GMS since they have translated it into English and this includes skill stats.

  255. NightTime

May i know if MapleSEA follow gms or kms?

  256. HolyLight

Oh im playing SEA so evan does not need mastery bks from cash shop but they still need skill and mastery books like magic mastery from boss drops but thanks anyway

  257. Ayumilove Post author

Hi HolyLight, you should make Luminous! It’s much more fun compared to Evan. Take note that Evan has tons of stories to go through just to get that Dragon to grow to a full form and getting extra SP from quests. I’m not sure whether Evan still depends on Skill Books or Mastery Books which is only available from Cash Shop purchase.

  258. HolyLight

Im pretty troubled bout making a hero mage so which one should i make an evan or a luminous?

  259. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Dylan, try to fight against enemies which is level 70-80 range (close to the quest level, not your character level!) Beetle and Dual Beetle are Level 99 and 105.

  260. Dylan

Thanks for the reply but that still doesnt fix my problem. I’m i level 101 luminous and im trying to fight the beatles in Leafre but i don’t see a single one drop traces.

  261. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Dylan, make sure the Quest Chasing Traces is being activated (already accept the NPC Quest from Agent N by double-clicking the light-bulb above your character). Otherwise, the mobs will not drop them. This concept same applies to all MapleStory quests that requires you to loot/pick-up quest-items from monsters, in particular (Traces) for this quest. You can collect 100 traces from ANY monster (simplifies things alot :D) But take note that these monsters MUST be within your quest level range which is 11 levels below and above. Since this quest is Level 70, fight monsters within those levels. For starters, loot from aliens in kulan feild V (They are Level 80 monsters)

  262. Dylan

Hey Ayumi in GMS is chasing traces glitched? I tried to kill mobs around my level like level 118 mobs but i didnt get any traces. Did i do something wrong or is it glitched?

  263. ????

I wish Luminous is coming to MSsea

  264. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Jason, as ShYGuY154 replied, the only quests required is just the job advancements.

  265. ShYGuY154

The luminous quests above aren’t required, other than the job advancements, so it’s fine if you completely neglect it. However, it’s at a cost of seeing the Black Mage in person in one of the quests, or so I’ve heard. ^^ Anyhow, at the very least, you’ll have a little more insight about Luminous’s storyline, if you follow the quests.

  266. Jason

Hi Ayumi 🙂 I wanted to know if the quest Above/Below are required cuz i didnt do em.

  267. Darrel

    @DeSnowy
    thx for the relply
    I’ll try free market

  268. DeSnowy

@darrel free market, almost everything is there xD

  269. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Darrel, sorry I don’t know where to purchase those scrolls. Perhaps someone here (Luminous players) can help you with this 🙂

  270. Darrel

hey ayumilove, do u know where i can buy potential scrolls for the luminous orbs?
    thx

  271. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Mike Huang, is there something above which is not updated?

  272. Mike Huang

Will everything on this website be updated soon?

  273. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DeSnowy! Higher level equips will have better potential stats and lines. This concept applies to orb as well 🙂 Take note that orbs does not come with any potential lines in the first place. You will need to use scrolls to unlock those potential lines 😀

  274. DeSnowy

About the orb thing, what’s the difference between the different leveled orbs? Is it the potential lines?

  275. Ayumilove Post author

    Thanks Eric for the update!

  276. Eric

Hi Ayumi, MapleSEA release on 12 June 2013 a new job is Luminous and Kaiser too, thanks

  277. DeSnowy

Well, maplesea is not running under nexon, instead it’s being run under asiasoft, and they also run other games quite a few other games, so I guess this is the reason. Also I’m working on merc as I think it would suit me best, as for my phantom, i’ll be selling its raven horn set. :/

  278. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DeSnowy, once you played lots of character, try to find the one that you like most to play. That job that doesn’t make you bored or doesn’t feel like grinding. For me, its either Kaiser or Demon Slayer. That’s probably one of the reasons why there are many Demon Slayers around MapleStory. Kaiser is a good choice too, if you have watch my video in the Kaiser Skill Build section, they have so many skills to play with (regular and transform), similarly to Xenon which will be release soon in MapleSEA! Its kinda strange that MapleSEA abruptly gets an epic update which beats GMS, usually its really slow or no updates is being followed. I wonder why?

  279. DeSnowy

@ayumi my level isn’t high enough for empress lol, I don’t have a main xD

  280. Ayumilove Post author

Hi LumiLover, sorry for the late reply. It seems my dashboard wasn’t able to detect your message until I manually browsed the long list of comments here. I have updated Luminous 4th Job Skill Build Guide with Ender.

  281. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DeSnowy, Thanks for the update! With that discovery, it will make a profitable business to sell them off in freemarket 🙂 Have you tried going on a few rounds and see whether Empress Cygnus drop more items afterwards? Or perhaps your friends are using Drop Rate Coupons or Guild Effect with additional drops?

  282. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Evanicaboy, I couldn’t give much reviews with Evan since I have a newbie Evan character. But what I could say is Luminous is great for bossing since every now and then, you can spam those 2 giant light+dark swords with no delay during Equilibrium stage and the damage popping up with criticals is simply amazing! You could test it out on Bearwolf or Croky at Lion Heart Castle to get a feel of it 🙂

  283. Evanicaboy

Ayumi is evan better for bossing or is luminous better for bossing?

  284. DeSnowy

Hi ayumi, regarding the drop rate increase. A few friends and I decided to try it out in empress and monster park. According to my friends who constantly goes for empress, they got more equips with above average stats and hidden pot. As for me who went for monster park, there was not much of a difference.

  285. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Glennn Chia, all of the skill build here are Tempest-Update compatible. So there won’t be any issues following this guide, except for Zen Skill Build (need some help from Zen players who has skills maxed for this) 🙂

  286. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Xerotic, any path will do, but recommended is Light Side since the damage is higher than Dark. This applies for 2nd, 3rd and 4th Job. But it also depends on your usage. For instance, 2nd Job Pressure Void (Dark) is so much easier to mob enemies in Haunted Mansion Scarecrow compared to Sylvan Lance (Light) even though the damage is slightly lower.

  287. Xerotic

Hi Do You Recomand we take the dark or the light side?

  288. Glennnn Chia

Yay MapleSEA Luminous is gonna be the same as KMS’s so do we still follow this skill build guide?

  289. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DarkStar, Luminous link skill is Permeate.

  290. Darkstar

please state which one is luminous link skill, TQ

  291. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks DeSnowy, I have checked them out 🙂 MapleSEA players will not have much issues with the skill build guides here since most of it are Tempest compatible, unless I missed one out 😀

  292. Ayumilove Post author

    Thanks DeSnowy 🙂

  293. DeSnowy

@ayumilove that’s part one of the patch

  294. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DeSnowy, it seems MapleSEA has released some new changes (nerfing and buffing the adventurer skills). Is it a separate patch from MapleStory Season 2?

  295. DeSnowy

@ayumilove I have no idea, patch notes were just released earlier today. I will be sure to tell you once I’ve tried it out.

  296. Ayumilove Post author

Wow, thanks DeSnowy for the latest news happening in MapleSEA! SEA is getting an extreme overhaul on everything in one big patch which includes Hyper skills, Monster park revamp, Item reorganization and Increased drop rates. hmm wait a minute, drop rates increased? I wonder how much *increase* from the previous. Does anyone know?

  297. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Son, time pasts very fast. The moment you blink your eyes, the day has finally arrive 🙂

  298. S

October is still a long way

  299. LumiLover

In the 4th job section, when do you max Ender?

  300. DeSnowy

@luminous probably in October, we don’t even have the legends return yet. Maplesea is the slowest among all the maplestories.

  301. Luminous

when will luminous be updated in maplesea?

  302. Zach

ACtually I really liked the KMS where if you are struggling constantly between both forms, was kinda cool. XD

  303. Ayumilove Post author

No worries Zach 🙂 Thanks for sharing your input! Sometimes my Luminous needs to relogin to get the benefits from either the Light/Dark Equilibrium.

  304. Zach

actually i realized i read the skills wrong but i meant I wasnt getting 0 in Equilibrium. but its working after a relog so sorry for dbl post cant delete and all XD

  305. Zach

Honestly I liked the KMS version of switching affinites it seems to make more sense, =// not a big fan of the spamming one type for feathers kinda thing at all =-=. but oh well and idk why but in dark mode im not getting a 0 MP cost idk if its a glitch but the tooltip syas it does that so idk

  306. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Em for your notice! I’ll be correcting Luminous 1st Job Skill Build 🙂

  307. Em

Hello Ayumilove!! There are some mistakes in the 1st Job with the skills. There is only a Dark Affinity skill not the Light one. And you forgot to put in the skill build to max Abyssal Drop. Cya! 🙂

  308. Ayumilove Post author

Hi RaikaZero, I’m just making it easier for them to understand lol. The crystal feather is in purple not gray. Actually Light Skills isn’t that powerful considering that Reflection damage decreases upon hitting the next target compared to Apocalypse that deals constant damage to multiple enemies within the vicinity.

  309. RaikaZero

Ayumi to be exact, in Light Mode Luminous can use dark skills, but it’s not as powerful as the light skills. But currently Light skills are more powerful then Dark skills. Making it quite annoying to enter Equilibrium, also its not Grey its Purple.

  310. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Alfred Fong, Luminous is able to switch between 2 modes, either Light or Dark. When he is in Light Mode, he can only use Light Magic. When he is in Dark Mode, he can only use Dark Magic. When he switches from Light to Dark or Dark to Light, he will go into Equilibrium State or you can call it as White + Black = Gray Mode. In Gray Mode, he can spam any of his attacks without any cooldown restriction nor cost any MP only for a shortwhile. Usually players will spam their ultimate attacks such as Death Scythe (during 3rd Job) and Ender (during 4th Job). In order to switch modes, he must charge up those feather crystals by spamming his regular Light/Dark Magic. For example, if he is currently in Light Mode, all he has to do is to spam Light Magic and once he charges up fully a Light Feather Crystal, he uses it to go into Gray/Equilibrium Mode to spam ultimates. Then he will automatically change from Light to Dark. Then repeat the same process as above for Dark.

  311. Alfred Fong

Hi I wonder what’s the differences between dark luminous and light luminous ?? Ayumilove can u pls explain more clearly? I dun seem to understand. 🙂

  312. DeSnowy

@alker not really, magic guard would be useful in the eclipse and equilibrium state as dark skills would require no mana.

  313. alker

This is terrible. Don’t max out magic guard till lvl 120+, you don’t need to waste that much mana when your have health regain from spells. Moonlight spear is a terrible ability, doing about half the dmg of Spectral light (the number listed here for spectral light is way lower than what it actually is).

  314. Nightclawz

Uh whats the differance between orbs cause i dont see any change when i get a new one

  315. DeSnowy

I’m playing Msea, and considering how slow Msea is (just had the db revamp and release of hilla expedition 4 days ago), tempest patch will probably be out late this year or early next year. I won’t be playing by then. 🙁

  316. Harry

Are you Korean, American, Chinese, or Japanese? Di you speak four languages? If you do, then that’s awesome! And I like your little character next to your comment/reply.

  317. Harry

Ayumi, I can read and understand Korean completely, because I lived in South Korea for 9 years. I’m 12 right now. Also, I have the Korean Maplestory comic book, and it says that it’s Death Side. Also played as Luminous, and the skill book said that its Death Side. Oh, by the way, Luminous is one of the Tempest Magician hero, not Legends. I think you meant Tempest.

  318. Ayumilove Post author

Oh, direct translation? That’s strange considering the animation that has a scythe, naming it Death Scythe would be more appropriate for the skill 😀

  319. Ayumilove Post author

I’m guessing in 6 months time. MapleSEA is kinda slow compared to GMS. As we can see, GMS obtains KMS new updates such as Tempest in less than 3 months after its release. If MapleSEA were to obtain the English version of it based from GMS (after it has done its corrections on their side – such as Skill Translation, Voice over for Luminous characters, Storyline Translation), then they will get from GMS and update their server. Probably when GMS gets Xenon, MapleSEA will get Kaiser and Angelic Buster.

  320. Harry

Death Scythe actually used to be Death Side in Korean.

  321. Fidikado

Hey Ayumi, I’m wondering when will Luminous come to MapleSEA?

  322. Justin Ng

I was wondering when is it Luminous will come out at MapleSEA ?

  323. Alex

I skipped the tutorial, and I have both dark and light skills in 1st job, and dark and light affinity are combined. What do?

  324. vic

where do you get better weapons and orb for luminous does he have a spacific shop cuz i cant find any

  325. Thomas

When is luminous coming to maple sea

  326. DUH

    Obviously int?

  327. Donna Lim

STR,Dex ,INT, LUK..which one is more important?

  328. Neo

ty brother!!! im play ms global.. and your guide is very good!!!!

  329. Pewtis

    awesome guide.

  330. Imparting96

Hey. Avloare, just max dark and light affinity and i maxed passive magic defence along with mana well

  331. AvolareIgnis

In the global version, there’s no difference in/choosing between light and dark version, so for the first job there’s no light affinity skill. How would you alter the sp build guide then? (Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m just getting back into maplestory.)

  332. Hero

Luminous uses two-handed weapon right? So it is can strictly be scrolled with two-handed magic attack? Many people say so.Please correct me if wrong :O

  333. Inequalities

You buy higher level orbs at the Weapon merchant in Ellinia. They have absolutely no difference in stats, unless you are going to put some potential on them, then you must get the higher level orbs. Other than that… No noticeable difference whatsoever.

  334. ryan

hey i was wondering how you get the higher level orbs
i’ve been stuck trying to figure out how to get the lv 100 orb for quite some time :/

  335. MudkipMao

Hey, I was just wondering how to choose the light side because in GMS I can’t seem to be able to save the girl after Luminous destroys the forest. Thanks in advance!s

  336. Ayumilove Post author

    Hi Hua,

Thanks for the note! I’ll be doing the SP correction for the skill build guides 🙂

I missed reading your message in the MapleStory Phantom Skill Build Guide section.

  337. Hua

    Hi Ayumi,

Jett, Resistance classes, Hero classes, and Mihile that use separated SP system will now receive 5 SP for 1st, 4 SP for 2nd, 4 SP for 3rd, and 4 SP at 4th job advancements.

That means in 2nd Job Inviolability / Blinding Pillar (gMS name) will be Lv.9 instead of Lv.5

And for 3rd Job Shine Redemption / Ray of Redemption (gMS name) the skill level will be 4 instead of 1.

Also the last time I told you about that there is a separate SP system for Phantoms too, you haven’t corrected your guide. Nonetheless this is a great site with useful information.

  338. unusua1

would you say light or dark is better? also is this skill guide universal for dark and light?

  339. Lax

hey ayu what is the link skill for luminous??

  340. RaikaZero

Which side would you personally choose?

  341. Nick

    OMFG NCIE GUIDE Auymilove XD
    yeh
just asking, if u choose light or dark, in 1st job adv. u can only use light or dark skills, then u can use bot right?
btw all ur guides are awesoem

  342. WingedGAle

Do we get all of the skills that you listed for each job? or do we have to pick which skills we want? like if we choose dark, we get only dark skills?

  343. darkmpn

Hey Ayumi , do you know when Luminous come out in GMS??

  344. Ayumilove Post author

@Alexxxx: It is said that the orb can be potential. The cost varies depend on the shop price.

  345. Alexxxxx

Can the orb have potential? Does it come with potential from shop? And how much does the most expensive one cost?

  346. SeekBelieve

Hey ayumi, you may want to check this :

    Everything maxed except Shine Redemption (1/10) (121 SP 3rd Job : LV60-100)
I just reached lvl 100 and theres a 19 Sp lag, so there should be 2 skills that cant be maxed.

  347. Kevin

    thanks

  348. Ayumilove Post author

@Kevin: I do not know when Luminous will be release to GMS. Based from my observations, KMS Content should reach USA shores within 6 months to 1 year at most.

  349. kevin

im starting a clan and we have all the heros exept luminous

  350. kevin

do u know the exact date for usa???

  351. Joel

Ayumi says on the notes you can also max Shine Redemption for party play, but that she prefers Dark Scythe because it’s a powerful skill upon activation of Equilibrium.

  352. Deity

Excuse me, ayumilove, but don’t you think Shine Redemption is a valuable skill? I mean, it heals you AND attacks monsters at the same time.

  353. deadmau5

Can someone please tell me or link me shining rod stats above 100 please? I been looking for months now and no searches pop up with actual stats only talk about what weapon luminous uses. Thank you.

  354. Deity

Thank you for that info. I really appreciate it.

  355. Ayumilove Post author

    @Deity:

Usually it would take an average of 6 months for GMS (Global MapleStory) to receive KMS (Korean MapleStory) Updates/Patch for New Jobs, Revamp, Features, etc.

Also, GMS has their own issue such as dealing with hackers, fixing bugs. All of these have to be taken place before issuing a new content update.

  356. Deity

    Hello ayumilove,
I have a question-do you have any idea when Luminous will be released in the USA? Because I’ve been waiting for it for a YEAR now. Pls get back to me as soon as possible on this. Thank you.

  357. Zhangs

so is the luminious using staff / wand?
same as other magician or one special equipment?

and I wanna to know that
KMS highest set equipment is what level now?

    Thx =)

  358. Rennzi

Doesn’t luminous have a diffrent skill set, for the first job if you decide to take the dark path? I’ve seen some video’s of people choosing the dark side first, with a dark skill where it drops like dark rocks?

  359. Ayumilove Post author

hi oASTRAYo, shinning rod should be one handed like a staff/wand but this does not mean he can equip a shield because his other hand is to hold the orb (located on the shield slot) acting as the secondary weapon. The orb does not have slot for scrolling.

  360. oASTRAYo

Just want to know the shining rod is one hand or two hand. Also for the Orb is it accessories or shield? or something els. Please let me know so I can prepare some scroll for them.

  361. Ayumilove Post author

Yes, Luminous job is out in KMS (Korea MapleStory). However, in order to play KMS, you will need to download and install the game, you will need KSSN (KOrean Social Security Number – if you from Korea, you will have this) and the ability to read/listen/type Korean. lol. I believe there are *services* provided by leafre.net and ellinforest.com

  362. Leon

Is the new job got out in the Korean Maple?
by the way can someone help me to register to the korean maple and dounload the game or give me a guide?

  363. Thor

Ummm.. Of course better than the lower leveied one.
Although I kinda wonder what do orbs do

  364. Daylight

whats the difference between lvl 10 orbs and lvl 60 orbs?

  365. Ayumilove Post author

    Hi Night,
Both light and dark skills are used in the same frequency. They are interchange when the orb switches from light/dark.

  366. Night

which skills do Luminous use most often, light skills or dark skills?

  367. DaNoob

This job is like controlling a Bishop + Battle Mage… good but lack of creativity IMO

  368. hi

    nice guide =D

  369. Joosh

luminous with LIGHT magic is da best!!!

  370. Maplestoryxll

Thanks For Using My Video !

  371. Ayumilove Post author

    Hi Carrie,
Shining Rod are like Magician Staff/Wands but they are only used by Luminous. They don’t equip Shield but uses Orb instead.

  372. Carrie

Is the Shining Rod considered a one-handed or two-handed weapon? Is it tradeable?
