MapleStory Kinesis Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Kinesis Job SelectionMapleStory Kinesis (메이플스토리 키네시스) is not part of any existing job branches and is a mage class. This class uses telekinesis power to attack by picking up nearby enemies or things, which is a very unique play pattern that does not exist currently. You must charge your Psychic Points by using regular skills until you have enough to unleash your powerful Ultimate skills. You can hold up to 30 Psychic Points. 1 Ultimate skill is given per job, and each one will strengthen lower level jobs’ Ultimate skills as well. Kinesis isn’t gender specific. Hence, you can select male or female when creating Kinesis. Kinesis begins in Maya’s House and can talk to the Advancement Helper to level up and advance. The job advancement will be same as regular jobs (Level 10, 30, 60 and 100). You can receive Kinesis’ secondary weapon from the Advancement Helper after advancing to first job. Kinesis job is released in KMST (Korea MapleStory Tespia) around July 12th 2015.

Kinesis Pros and Cons

Pros

  • *Share your pros on this job!*
  • More mobile than other mages, jumps feel smoother when compared to Teleport.
  • No need for MP potions.
  • Good damage especially for bossing. Being able to bypass Damage Reflect is very useful.
  • Trains.
  • It’s more of a class you play because you enjoy the mechanics or the story.
  • Tied with Lumi as best mobber/meso-grinder in the game.
  • Interesting playstyle and great storyline.
  • Leveling is incredibly easy with 1st and 2nd job mobbing skills that have really good vertical range.
  • You get huge DPS even without funding by chaining your ultimate(s) properly.

Cons

  • *Share your cons on this job!*
  • Skills like Kinetic Jaunt and Down-Psychic Blast feel both awkward and underwhelming to use.
  • Using Psychic Grab seems to limit the amount of monsters spawned since you do not instantly kill the monsters you hold.
  • Offers nothing in terms of party buffs or damage modifiers for other classes except Maple Warrior.
  • The only utility seems to be their ability to CC mobs, something that is not very useful end-game.
  • Attacks quite slow and the bossing is kinda dismal.

Additional Information

Kinesis Storyline

Kinesis was a normal student attending the School for the Gifted in the real world. One day he mysteriously gained telekinetic powers. With a strong sense of justice, Kinesis quickly put his newfound power to good use by helping people in need. Around the same time that Kinesis gained his powers, strange occurrences started happening around his town, always preempted by a mysterious message from someone online calling themselves ‘WM’. While following one of the leads from the mysterious WM, Kinesis was pulled into a catastrophic sinkhole that also destroyed a large part of the city. Kinesis was saved by the magician Nero and brought to Maple World.
Kinesis now must train in Maple World so that he can gain enough power to return home and save his world. Uncover the mystery behind Kinesis’ powers and become a true hero in both worlds!

Kinesis Notes

  • Kinesis’ skills have the keyword ‘telekinesis’.
  • As the name would imply, the basic concept of Kinesis is to pick up objects and monsters to use as attacking tools.
  • While using regular skills, Kinesis charges up Psychic Points (PP) which he can then use to unleash various Ultimate skills.
  • Some of Kinesis’ skills are the first introduction of the 2D skeleton animation system. Unlike regular sprite animation, 2D skeleton animations use less storage space and are much smoother in motion. Using this system, Kinesis can pick up huge objects like trains.
  • It is guaranteed that there are no passengers on all vehicles which Kinesis uses!
  • Kinesis starts at Lv. 10.
  • Kinesis’s Character Card will increase INT by +10 on 30, +20 on 60, +40 on 100, and +80 on 200.

@Chonmegai: It depends whether you feel comfortable playing at that latency. For me, anything below 200 ping is fine for me, otherwise I feel a bit lag when trying to play with other players in KMS 🙂

  2. Chonmegai

I like kinesis but My Ping is 200-250 in KMS, can I still playable?

  3. Ayumilove Post author

@US Economy: Thanks for your comment! I have updated the guide based on your input 🙂
Based from my experience power-leveling a Kinesis, they do not help much during 3rd job due to the following reasons:
    1. You would hardly encounter monsters that inflicts element attacks at 3rd job. Usually bosses will do these attacks.
    2. Monsters at 3rd job inflicts little bump damage and performing frequently 1 hit KO on enemies simply negates reaping much benefits from it.
    3. Kinetic Combo deals insignificant damage which does not KO enemies but provoking enemies that can deal even more higher damage to you (e.g. magic damage rather than physical damage).

  4. US Economy

You might as well grab one point in Mitigation, Transcendence, and Kinetic Combo in the beginning of Tier 3 since they give a lot of stats and power for just one stat point. Even for other tiers, it should be saying to get one stat point in the passives since a lot of them scale really hard for that first point.

@all: The following items have been updated:
    1. Updated GMS and MSEA to dynamic changelogs

@Ayumilove : about skill Psychic Reinforcement | Increase Mental Power already become passive well idk since when :), just want tell about that, well mostly all player maybe already know, cheers

@Meow: Hi, I have replaced Mental Break with Mind Break for the V Matrix.

  8. Meow

Mental break is mental shock or mind break. For V matrix.

  9. Ayumilove Post author

@kuroceptic: I don’t think that “Mind Tremor – Reinforce” boosts the Final Damage since the skill description mentions it boost Damage +20%. What hyper skills do you recommend to substitute this “Mind Tremor – Reinforce” ?

  10. kuroceptic

    Hi Ayumilove,
I would like to bump the same question regarding “Mind Tremor – Reinforce”
From what I know it adds a Def reduction + final dmg increment debuff and that’s probably the main point of using it. But to my knowledge, Reinforce skills usually just adds on damage % to it’s initial hit instead of final damage % to the debuff. EG. 500% * + (20% + Total_damage% + 1)

If it truly adds 20% final damage to the debuff then it would be clear why it’s prioritized to be added above the rest that aren’t. Because I’m sure, IMO 1 line of damage from mind tremor isn’t really worth increasing the damage for.

I’m open for correction if I’m wrong anywhere.
    Cheers!

  11. KHNZS

    Hi, Ayumilove,

I would like to ask why would you up “Mind Tremor – Reinforce” as Hyper Skill?
If i not mistaken, it just increase the initial damages by 20%, which it quite insignificant boost IMO.
I would prefer to take the other, as I think other provide rather moderate boost.

Would you please clarify the usage of recommended hyper skill, and do correct me if I am misunderstood on the usage.

    Thank and regards.

@Jonathan: Based from the MapleStory Job DPS Chart, Kinesis is not within the top 20 though. However, I’m not 100% sure if Kinesis is not as strong as other class or it isn’t evaluated yet. Bossing and mobbing is OK but during late game though. Early to mid game doesn’t feel that fluid compare to other class.

  13. Ayumilove Post author

@Arcticneon: Thanks for the correction! I have updated Mental Shock skill bind from 20 seconds to 10 seconds.

  14. pearlyn

    Hello everyone..

Im newbie on maplesea, first time using kinesis and it seems that besides the active skills, most of the passive, supportive skills can’t be added in macro or keyboard shortcuts to be used?

I’m level 81 and had maxed out my second job skills but I totally cannot use psychic force II (Psychic Blast), mental fortitude II (Mental Strength) & esp mastery?

I can actually use every single skill on my first job except for mental fortitude.

I have yet to max my my third job skills but so far I can’t use psychic force III (Psychic Assault) and telekinesis (Kinetic Combo) even when they are maxed out? Is it supposed to be this way?

    Regards

  15. Arcticneon

Mental Shock skill has been changed (10 second root now)

    Hi Ayumi!

I’ve a question about kinesis and was wondering how strong kinesis is late game compared to the other classes. Is he’s bossing good and what about his mobbing. And have a good day.

@all: Kinesis 5th Job Skill “Psychic Tornado” skill details has been updated (Max Level 20 → 25)

  22. Ayumilove Post author

@Jonathan: It really depends on the player preference. As the saying goes “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.” Something that one person likes may be not fun to someone else. I like Xenon as its quite strong unfunded and mobile. I play most of the jobs without funding though just to enjoy the skills. Perhaps another player can enlighten on which jobs can be superior to other classes when they are properly funded.

  23. Jonathan

Hi ayumi i thought about coming back to maple and i don’t really know the changes so i was wondering if you know which classes are fun but still are strong unfunded?

  24. Kamarulz

    The Power OF Psychic 😀

  25. :)

hi ayumi i have a question about the hyper sp ‘mind tremor reinforce’, does that additional 20% only apply to the first initial hit which is relatively insignificant when either bossing or mobbing? if what i said is true, then what is the point of wasting a hyper skill point on it? would ‘psychic grab steel skin’ be much more useful whee training? double your defense is really a big thing to me especially when training at places like burning past where mobs can do tons of dmg?

these are only my personal opinions and i dont know if im right about what i mentioned above, because my own kinesis character is not strong enough yet.

  26. Moaz

    @Max
Both are good unfunded, however Demon Avenger’s Nether Shield CD got nerfed so their late game got heavily impacted, so go with Kinesis. Whatever you find is fun honestly.

  27. Max

Hi, was deciding on a main character and I’m not sure if I should use Kinesis or Demon Avenger as my main. Both are about level 110 and I’m deciding between the two because they both seem really good for bossing and mobbing. Help! 🙁

  28. Ahrie9tails

Kinesis Card will not give Free Spirit Deck effect if pair up with Bishop,I/L,F/P.

much like Kaiser cant pair up with DK/Pala/Hero for Free Spirit Deck or AB with Capt/Viper/CS

Only Bishop, I/L and F/P pair together will give Free Spirit Deck(aka 3 explorer) and Mage’s Way
Only DK/Pala/Hero pair together will give Free Spirit Deck(aka 3 explorer) and Warrior’s Way
Only Capt/Viper/CS pair together will give Free Spirit Deck(aka 3 explorer) and Pirate’s Way

  29. Clifford

About Kinesis , Mental Shock hyper skill in Maple Sea world is stun not binded… tried few time certain resist to it

  30. Idiot

Personally, as much as I enjoy Bishop (easiest to play…. just have something that keep your MP recharged) and Battlemage. Kinesis is one of the best bossing class for mages because he has almost all the utility you need in a boss fight….

Surprisingly Tanky for a mage, I think he is even tankier than battlemage who only has more Hp(which can go down really fast…) thanks to his MP-shield-like skill. Even without it, his buff is enough to keep him durable enough.

    Decent Status Resistance.

    Flash jump for quick escape.

Technically speaking, you can ‘fly’ to next platform, but that is a little wonky though.

Ultimate Punch can keep dealing damage to the boss while you are either attack, dodging attack or get stunned by the boss. A little extra damage is always good for DPS.

Also, you can actually deal extra DoT damage using that pushing skill….not really recommended but if you can squeeze it in somehow….extra damage is always good.

    Debuff skills for extra damage.

Temporary Invincibility Frame (Hyper/full-screen Skill)….. can dodge at least one of Ark’s One-hit kill except when he is spamming it…..that cheating bastard.

The idea of throwing Train is fun…..unfortunately I don’t recommend using it on mobile boss for obvious reason and it used up too much PP.

    Boss Magic-Attack-cancelling skill? Deep Impact.

    Damage Reflect? Deep Impact

(Just in case you STILL don’t get it, yes, the second Job’s ultimate can be use to clear Boss’ Buff… that include Damage Reflect and that can be awesome).

  31. Moaz

    @Nuruin
I had a legendary inner ability with %chance to ignore CD. Takes some honor exp to get, but it’s acquirable.

  32. Nuruin

    @Moaz
Thanks a lot for your advice, can you recommend a way to get the ‘%chance to ignore CD’ stat

  33. Moaz

    @Nuruin
Battle Mage has a very straightforward playstyle, you spam Finishing Blow and Dark Shock vertically, with some Sweeping Staffs in there. I don’t think they are very good for maining, but 5th job said they are getting all their auras in one skill so it’s nice. They have some nice party buffs, and are relatively cheap to fund(mages). It is very underwhelming to boss, you just spam 2 skills but your mechanics need to be very well, like thunder breaker.

Kinesis is probably the best mage class, other than the new revamp evan. I have personally played all of the magician classes, excluding bishop because I don’t like healers, and loved Kinesis. He is really fun with his Ultimates and his 4th job skill which can act as a mobbing/bossing skill (toss). He also has vertical flash jump and a regular flash jump, so he is very mobile. I recommend %chance to ignore CD, so broken with Psychic Charger. He has a lot of nice passives and buffs, i’d highly recommend him.

TL;DR main what you think is fun, don’t determine from “lines” or “damage” but what you truly like to do.

  34. Nuruin

I’m stuck between battle mage and kinesis when deciding who to main, dose anyone have advice on this to help me decide?

@Jasper: Between Kinesis and Phantom, Kinesis does more damage to bosses and is a better mobber, but Phantom can change his skills around to either do damage or support his allies.

Kinesis also does more damage than an Avenger while being a better mobber, although the Demon is a lot more durable. Kinesis is pretty easy to fund, but the Avenger should be a lot cheaper if you aren’t on Reboot.

Any of the three are perfectly good for maining; pick whichever you enjoy playing the most.

  36. Jasper

How about Demon Avenger. Isit better than Kinesis in bossing and easier to fund for damage?

  37. Nimue

@Jasper: I would recommend Kinesis for mobbing and Phantom for bossing / mobbing. I think Phantom is a bit better cauze you can just lvl a bit better with HS or you can take Cross Surge for that range boost. I didn’t played Kinesis above lvl 100. But I think Phantom is the better one cauze you can just change it like the way you want. You can be some sort of a supporter or just a thief with lots of cool skills. And for me Phantom’s Storyline is a + for me. It’s so romantic and it’s just so cool x). But it’s up to you, which one is the most fun to play for ya? That one is your choise ;).

  38. Jasper

Hi I’m confused which one to main between this two. Kinesis or Phantom? And also which one is good for bossing. Kinesis or Phantom better?

@MushroomSoup: The video shows the older MapleStory Kinesis skill animation. Somehow, it looks dull for Nexon and they decided to spice things up by changing the skill animation for Kinesis.

  40. MushroomSoup

Uhm ayumi just wondering.. MSEA just released Kinesis a few days back and the icon as well as attack animation for Ultimate BPM Looks completely different from the video you provided . Mine just looks like a sharp arrow constantly pushing forward kind of animation. No black colored fist or anything. do i have to max it out before i get the full animation ?

  41. Pan

i think Psychic Move (3rd job skill) name was changed.

  42. Ayumilove Post author

@PatchNotes: Thanks for sharing this note 🙂

  43. Ches

When I use the combo kinesis physic clutch bpm for 10 seconds as the game boot me any suggestions?

  44. Ayumilove Post author

@Eyeshield21: You could try either Night Walker (purely bossing = best at 1vs1) or Kaiser for (mobbing + bossing). Night Walker is quite powerful at dealing massive damage on a single enemy compared to most jobs in the top 10 DPS chart. See the chart at https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/3zd3h8/new_kms_dpm_chart/ for more about which class deals the most line’s (when damage is capped/maxed out).

  45. Eyeshield21

Can you recommend a few jobs to start off with that provides good mobbing and bossing in GMS? Or character for each purpose and the ability to share equips between the 2? Thanks!

  46. Ayumilove Post author

@Blissys: I have added the Kinesis pros and cons section located at the top of this guide. 🙂 (CTRL + F and search the keyword “pros” to quickly jump into that section!)

  47. Ayumilove Post author

@J: Thanks for the reply! I have updated the Level 1 info for Kinetic Combo 🙂

  48. Blissys

What are the strength and weaknesses of Kinesis? I don’t know if I should spend my time making a Kinesis and leveling it up or making it my main.

  49. J

    3rd Job Kinetic combo
Level 1: 43% chance to use nearby objects to attack an enemy for 260% damage 3 times automatically.

  50. Ayumilove Post author

@iEclipse: Thanks for your feedback regarding the Kinesis 2nd Job Skill Build Guide! I have made the necessary adjustment to it based on your findings.

  51. Ayumilove Post author

@Nuruin: I’m not sure what it means by the skill description too though. If any Kinesis players has info about it, kindly enlighten us!

  52. Ayumilove Post author

@13thArcana: Yeah, all the new jobs released in KMS will sooner or later be arriving to MapleSEA but the question is “when?”. It all depends on the MapleSEA region whether they could get the new jobs (e.g. Beast Tamer, Kinesis, Blaster) quickly enough. I’m not sure what is holding them back.

  53. Ayumilove Post author

@J: I have updated the success rate of Kinetic Combo from 100% to 70%. I noticed that the damage also is different compared to KMS which is 30% vs 350% in GMS). Do let me know if you have more info!

  54. J

    For Kinetic Combo:
Level 1: 43% chance to use nearby objects to attack an enemy for 12% damage 3 times automatically.
Level 10: 70% chance to use nearby objects to attack an enemy for 30% damage 3 times automatically.

  55. Ayumilove Post author

@Hones: It’s maxed early so you can get the benefit of the passive Magic Attack which improves the min-max damage range. Regardless of the character level you are, this skill improves your MaxHP gradually. For example, you are level 15 with a base of 1000 MaxHP and max Mental Fortitude, you will gain additional 300HP (+30% MaxHP of 1000 MaxHP = 1300 MaxHP), so when you reach level 20 with a base of 2000 MaxHP, the Mental Fortitude applies the 30% MaxHP on that base which gives 600 MaxHP (+30% MaxHP of 2000 MaxHP = 2600 MaxHP).

It’s not a 1-time effect applied only upon level up but constantly applied.

  56. Hones

For 1st Job, why is Mental Fortitude maxed out so early? As the character gains more base HP per level, shouldn’t it be left alone until level 30 so that the max HP % gain will be bigger?

  57. Ayumilove Post author

@13thArcana: Yes, Kinesis will be coming to MapleSEA approximately 3-6 months after GMS (Global MapleStory) has received Kinesis update from KMS (Korea MapleStory). The wait may extend further if MapleSEA decided not to release Kinesis first but other updates/patches that it has postponed.

  58. Nuruin

with the hyper skill Mind Break – Enhance what does ‘Final Damage increase amount increased by 2 mean’

  59. 13thArcana

Dear Ayumilove will kinesis be coming to MapleSEA?

  60. iEclipse

For second job, I think it might be better to max Psychic Blast before Psychic Drain for the 10 magic attack. Also, I got Psychic Drain early (just one point) for the utility, and it makes it so much easier to spam your ultimate. Speaking of ultimates, it should be noted that for damage, you should use the 1st job ultimate over your 2nd job. I haven’t gotten around to maxing the 3rd job one yet, but in terms of raw power, 1st job seems to be doing a lot more than the others, and its also more PP efficient. What are your thoughts, Ayumi?

  61. J12

    What about Hyper stats?

  62. Vini

What endgame gear do you recommend for him?

  63. Ayumilove Post author

@Shade080: I have corrected “Kinetic Crash” to “Kinetic Piledriver” in the second tier (2nd Job Skill Build Guide). I got mixed up with the Kinetic skill names. Thanks for your feedback and Merry Christmas! 🙂

  64. Ayumilove Post author

@Anonymous: Could you try out “Questioning” method which is purchasing Mastery Book 30 to unlock Level 30 Mastery for President’s Order (4th Job Skill). Ensure you have sufficient SP (Skill Points) inside President’s Order. Usually 5 SP and above to unlock Level 11-20, and 15 SP and above to unlock Level 21-30. Merry Christmas!

  65. Anonymous

My friend got presidents orders to lvl30 using the normal mastery books

  66. Questioning

I wonder, since normal MB20 doesn’t work for President’s Orders, how am I supposed to get it?

  67. Shade080

Why does it say kinetic crash in the second tier

  68. Kaiba

Will you be making a general hyper stat guide?

  69. Ayumilove Post author

@Help: You are right, I missed the Psycho Break aka Mind Break in 4th Job Skill Build Guide. I’ll be correcting it. Thanks for your feedback!

  70. Help Please

You forgot Psycho Break in the build

  71. Ayumilove Post author

@Papa Grimly: Yeah, will be updating it soon.

  72. Papa Grimly

Are you going to update the page with GMS Kinesis’ information? A few of his abilities are different from KMS’ release version. His first job ultimate, fourth job ultimates (both the two PP consumers, and Psych Break), fourth job ESP Battle Order, and third job Mitigation abilities are all changed abilities which immediately come to mind, but there are even more changed abilities.

GMS really caught me by surprise by not posting over KMS’ class in its original state.

  73. SumMidnight

Could you put it so that we can see how many 30s or 20 mastery books we need like somewhere in 4th job? Thanks =)

  74. Drack

This character and Lotus are really alike o_O with those gravity and telekinetic skills
Now I really want to know what kind of storyline he got 😀

  75. Nectare

Ayumilove, can I ask if Ultimate Deep Impact removes DR and Magic Immunity from bosses? Thanks.

  76. Nectar

Does the Ultimate Deep Impact skill remove DR and Magic Immunity from bosses? Thanks.

  77. Ayumilove Post author

@Nuruin: Kinesis requires Mastery Book 20 and 30 to unlock their 4th job skills.

  78. Ayumilove Post author

@Chaos: I have updated all Kinesis skill details. Sorry for the late reply!

  79. Ayumilove Post author

@Arthur: Kinesis weapon is two-handed (2h) similarly to Kanna fans. It contradicts of what we have seen in the cinematic trailer or animation image where Kinesis only wears the ESP Limiter on 1 hand.

  80. Nuruin

Dose anyone know if Kinesis needs mastery books?

  81. Chaos

Hey Ayumi, can u please update the kinesis skill as soon as possible? there are some change at 2nd job skill >_<

  82. Arthur

Hey Ayumi! Can u tell us if Kinesis weapon is 1h or 2h?:)

  83. Ayumilove Post author

@Yazeru: It got me thinking whether he likes/dislikes trains so much that makes it often to use it as his weapon of disposal. Would be quite entertaining if they somehow randomly change the item being throwned, like bus, cars, trucks, boats (like in Transformer Age of Extinction Movie).

  84. Ayumilove Post author

@Ahurra: All new jobs released in KMS will be released to other regions such as MSEA, GMS, EMS, CMS at another point of time. Based on experience, it would take approximately 4~6 months for new jobs to reach GMS shores after KMS has officially released the finalized job.

  85. Ayumilove Post author

@Ahurra: Yes, usually new jobs will be released to GMS in approximately 4-6 months after KMS has released the final version of it to make time for English translation on the skills/storyline/etc.

  86. Ahurra

Is kinesis going to be released on GMS?

  87. Yazeru

I knew it. He summoned the train to attack. Like Caster in Closers with the bus!!!!!!!!!

  88. Sergio

Omg! This class looks awesome. Reminds me Toph so much. Really excited to play it

  89. KayJello

Hey Ayumilove, do you know if you could switch from bishop or any explorer mage to a kinesis? I’ve heard Kinesis is an explorer class but idk if its like a Jett where u cant switch to it or a cannoneer where u can o:

  90. KayJello

oh so it is visible… darn it lol

  91. OneMan

    Hyper skill really like xenon

  92. Nuruin

it is a glove like thing on his hand

  93. KayJello

Hello! I was wondering if the weapon for Kinesis was visible or not
