MapleStory Wind Breaker aka Wind Archer Skill Build Guide V2 MapleStory Wind Archer (GMS) aka Wind Breaker (MSEA) Cygnus Knights is second in line to receive skills revamp from KMS (Korea MapleStory) on 7th February 2013 with this [kMSt] v.1.2.471 – Wind Archer Reborn! patch. Wind Archer can now level up as high as the rest of the classes and able to utilize 4th Job Skills and Hyper Skills. They do not require any Mastery Book to unlock their skills. The maximum level for Cygnus Knight is 250. They get +6 AP every level, and +5 AP every level after 70.

Wind Archer Notes

  • You may become a Wind Archer after completing the tutorial, accepting the job quest from Neinheart, and then talking with Irena. Check the light bulb notifier for later job advancement quests: 2nd job at Lv.30, 3rd job at Lv.60, 4th job at Lv.100.
  • From Lv.140-200, you will occasionally unlock special Hyper Skills. These passive and active skills will make you even more powerful.
    You must have a Bow equipped in order to use most of your skills.
  • Each Cygnus Knight character has its own Cash Shop inventory, not shared with other characters.

Chilling Fusillade | Sentient Arrow (Active)
Shoot off a frigid arrow to attack indiscriminately. Hold down the key button and use direction keys to steer. Attack 6 enemies 2 times within the shower area as long as the skill key is held down. You can move the shower area using arrow keys within 350 range. This skill cannot activate Trifling Wind nor Storm Bringer.
Level 1: MP Cost: 3. Attack 6 enemies with 108% damage. ?Steer by holding the skill key and using the directional keys. Maximum Range: 350. Does not activate with Trifling Wind and Storm Bringer.
Level 20: MP Cost: 8. Attack 6 enemies with 165% damage. ?Steer by holding the skill key and using the directional keys. Maximum Range: 350. Does not activate with Trifling Wind and Storm Bringer.

Pinpoint Mark | Pinpoint Pierce (Active)
Shoot off two arrows to strike the same enemy. Attack 1 enemy 2 times and debuff them so they will receive 20% extra damage.
Level 1: MP Cost: 27, Max Enemies Hit: 1, Damage: 283%, Number of Attacks: 2. Repeatedly attack the same enemy to activate a damage buff of 10%.
Level 20: MP Cost: 37, Max Enemies Hit: 1, Damage: 340%, Number of Attacks: 2. Repeatedly attack the same enemy to activate a damage buff of 20%.

Trifling Whim II | Trifling Wind II (Passive)
Required Skill: Trifling Wind I (MAX) | Note: Level 20 required to learn Trifling Wind III
Summons a spirit of the wind to attack nearby enemies.
Level 1: Max Soul Energy created: 4, Chance to create energy: 20%. Random enemies damaged: 177%. Chance to create enhanced soul energy: 5%. Damage of enhanced soul energy: 213%.

Borrow the power of the legendary Albatross to boost your combat stats. Temporarily increases weapon attack, Max HP, Critical Rate and attack speed.

Summon a green crystal flower that attracts nearby enemies. Enemies intoxicated by the scent will slow down.
Level 1: MP Cost: 33, Duration: 24 sec. Crystal Flower HP: 3800 Slows affected enemies.
Level 10: MP Cost: 60, Duration: 60 sec. Crystal Flower HP: 20000 Slows affected enemies.

Featherlight | Featherweight (Passive)
Has a chance to ignore enemy damage when they hit you. Also increases resistance against elements and states.
Level 1: 5% chance to ignore damage. All abnormal status and elemental resistance: +0%.
Level 20: 30% chance to ignore damage. All abnormal status and elemental resistance: +10%.

Circumvention | Second Wind (Passive)
Permanently increases evasion rate and weapon magic defense. If you successfully evade an enemy attack, you will temporarily gain additional weapon attack.
Level 1: 11% Evasion, Defense +50. Weapon Attack +5 for 5 seconds.
Level 20: 30% Evasion, Defense +1000. Weapon Attack +15 for 5 seconds.

Wind Archer Skill Cores

Howling Gale
Summons a violent gust of wind to punish enemies. Consumes all Wind energy when summoning and enhances Gust in proportion to the Wind energy. This skill Does not affect enemies in the Damage Reflection status.
Level 1: Consumes 500 MP. You can obtain 1 Wind energy up to 2 every 20 sec. Using 1 Wind energy attacks up to 10 enemies at 260% damage 3 times for 10 sec and using 2 Wind energy attacks up to 15 enemies at 624% damage 3 times.
Level 25: Consumes 500 MP. You can obtain 1 Wind energy up to 2 every 20 sec. Using 1 Wind energy attacks up to 10 enemies at 500% damage 3 times for 10 sec and using 2 Wind energy attacks up to 15 enemies at 1200% damage 3 times.

Idle Whim
Awaken the sleeping spirit of the wind and let it rampage.
Level 1: Consumes 500 MP. For 8 seconds, create 10 spirit auras that seek enemies and deal 364% damage 3 times. If multiple auras hit the same monster, the additional auras’ final damage will be decreased by 50%. Cooldown: 10 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 500 MP. For 8 seconds, create 10 spirit auras that seek enemies and deal 700% damage 3 times. If multiple auras hit the same monster, the additional auras’ final damage will be decreased by 50%. Cooldown: 10 seconds.

    I have a question. How does the Inner ability “Attack skills target +1” work with cyclone?

    Does this means that i will do 20% more damage then usual when attacking a single monster with it?

    For people still confused whether Spiral Vortex is better than Cyclone/Song of Heaven for mobbing, through experience I would say Cyclone/Song of Heaven is better no matter your dmg output. This is purely due to higher activation rate of trifling whim which is a significant help to mobbing. Unlike bowmaster’s hurricane, the startup animation for Cyclone/SOH is very low, low enough for me to literally hold either arrow keys and lightly tap the cyclone key repeatedly to maintain some movement while still firing. I’m able to 1 shot mobs now hence my preference to jump around and tap cyclone to mob. For tougher mobs, just hold down the key and watch your cyclone with trifling whims wreck havoc.

    @GordonRamsay I’ve scanned through the patch notes of 5th Job and the stat changes seemed to be the prominent cause(to be specific, Critical Damage replace Min Crit and Max Crit) but I don’t think it is. Its either that or they traded damage with lines…or you memory is just fuzzy?

    btw what MS(GMS, KMS, MSEA) are you playing?

    Hey so I played on Reboot over the summer and I mained my WindArcher. So I got to lv190 and before i stopped playing i was at about 340k range and I was hitting about 4-5mil (if my memory serves me correct) with both my song of heaven and spiraling vortex. I recently came back since I’m off school and I managed to boost up my range up to around 430k range but I only hit 2mil and ever so often 3mil. Was there a change or something? Or is it the Critical Damage thing cuz that wasn’t there before I believe? Maybe my memory is just fuzzy and I didn’t actually hit 4-5mils?
