Time Leap

Serpent Screw

First of all, you should update the Serpent Screw skill name to Lord of the Deep (new name for GMS).
Second, why do you think Buccaneer Blast Hyper Skills should be maxed over Octopunch? Blast is barely used on 5th job and Octopunch is the classe’s best bossing skill end-game. Could you revise it please?
Lastly, i wanted to say that i really love your guides and you should definitely keep updating them! XD
@basakboy: Tornado Uppercut is a skill that shoots tornado out of uppercut.
@Leo: Demon Avenger best for unfunded player. Does not consume MP and his HP is easily healed with his skill. Star Force his equips can easily boost his damage significantly.

What is the best way to maintain fully charged as much as possible? The class seems rather crippled when it is not charged..

I’ve just got my Buccaneer to about 120, and I’m trying to figure out why Dragon Strike is maxed so early. Since it can only be used when you’re fully charged, it’s not like I can make use of the 12x hits to quickly fill my meter. Then once I’m actually charged up, it’s Bucc Blast the whole time. is it used just for the extra damage the enemies take? And in that case, is it only useful for bosses or mobs that don’t die in 1-2 hits?
@Tenzer – To put it simply, Static Thumper gets replaced after 4th job. 1000% is a lot, yeah, but it’s only 1 hit. Also, its attack animation is slow, & it gets virtually no bonus when charged (10%? C’mon…) In 4th job, BB/DB is over 2000%, NS & DS are over 3k%, spread out among multiple hits.
Plus, compared to the other 2 3rd job skills it’s up against, EB/HB has stun (amplified by Stun Mastery), & SA is a rush move (always useful, so why not take the extra damage?)
Just my opinion. You could make a case to take it over SA. I think EB/HB’s stun is too good to pass up though.
I was wondering why Energy burst is maxed and not static thumper that has a final total of 1000% dmg?

@bonfie As someone who happily bosses with NW, I don’t know what you mean about painful cooldowns (maybe I’m too low level)… I’m going to burn a bucc though, so I’ll tell you how it compares though. Ive heard bad things about bucc so I guess I’ll get a better idea now. Also, NL is basically as good at bossing as NW so maybe give them a look. I’m also enjoying my DrK since it also attacks fast with decent damage while never dying.
Hey Ayumi, i’m looking for fast attack speed with nice bossing, i thought about NW or buccaneer but nw’s coldowns are painfull and i havent tried buccs yet. (I don’t want to play class with hurricane ablity) considering 5th is out what do you think which class has both attack speed and raw demage

Great skill guide Ayumi! Can you look into updating some of the 4th job skills? I’m not on MS right now, but I can confirm that Speed Infusion, Time Leap, Nautilus Strike, and Pirate’s Revenge need to be changed. Not sure about the rest of the skills, but thanks~
Thanks for the guide. I recently reached lvl 210 with my bucc and the “Hyper Skill New SP” message appeared, when I wanted to get that SP into the one that enhances dice roll to be more likely to get 4, 5 or 6 I found that I had no hyper SP to spend. Did I miss something? Should I reset all hyper skills and will I get that one I earned at lvl 210? Thanks for your guides and incoming reply :).

Is there specific pros and cons about a buccaneer? Like how well it mobs and how well it fights against bosses? There’s lots of stuff that my guild kept saying about buccaneers, but they can’t put a definite answer for my questions.

For buccaneers there isn’t much need for combo style playing because its pretty much just spamming one or two attacks every time. In 2nd job you use corkscrew blow to push mobs into one place and finnish them of with tornado uppercut and when fully charged you can just spam energy vortex. Third job is the same with spiral assault and energy blast. 4th job is little bit different when buccaneer blast comes into picture. That is the only skill you need when fully charged but in my opinion you should not use it to charge your energy if you can one hit KO mobs with dragon strike or spiral assault because its a bit slower and the range is almost the same with ds.
This is the fastest way to deal damage when grinding i think and i have trained like this until level 200 now 🙂

Can you respond to this question please i want to make a bucc but i fell like this skill build is wrong because i fell spiral assault is a very vital skill to max and is still popular in the forth job since you can attack a whole map in a couple of seconds. It’s a very good rushing skill therefore making it is way better to max then static thumper but im not sure since ive never player a bucc only seen other people play them.
Hi aran888888, are you referring squishy to lack of defense? Non-warrior often lacks defense or skills that help replenish HP quickly to compensate that disadvantage. If you could kill them faster within 1-2 hits before they could hit you, then you will be in a safe zone 😀 Other than that, just get 3 decks of cards, each has S in them just to benefit from the +500 bonus HP.
Hey. I was wondering if there is any way to make my buccaneer less ah.. Squishy? I still need to put some link skills on it, but it seems fairly squishy-I have three S card decks on it, and even when fully charged, the defenses seem kind of lacking(I’m level 104.). Anything I can do about this?
@Jesse im pretty sure most people do max spiral assault over static thumper as it is the better skill to use and is still very useful in the 4th job
I don’t think cork screw blow is a rushing skill anymore so it cannot be used with spiral assault
you need to change the 3rd job maxing spiral assault over static thumper. static thumper is not that great of a skill and is easily replaced in the forth job at least spiral assault is a rushing skill making it still have some value in the end
@Ghost: I have tested with my Phantom, they are not able to steal Double Down skill. Only the active skills and supportive skills that does not have any passive effects in it.

If you stun a boss you will have 100% critical for the time the boss is stunned.

Ok and one last question i know it won’t matter much since it’s only 1 sp but if i max spiral assault should i max corkscrew blow instead of tornado uppercut since i believe you can combo using that with spiral assault or would that be a bad idea for some reason
@Jesse: Yes, it sounds good to me. In my personal experience, I less rush enemies but use long range skill to attack my enemies when I play my Buccaneer. If you use the skill frequently when you are training, you can max that instead 🙂
would it be better in the long run maxing spiral assault over static thumper since spiral assault is the only rushing skill we get or is static thumper still used after the third job making it better to max.

Hey just wondering on your hyper skills wouldn’t it be good to have a guide for people who boss alot vs. people who don’t boss much since octopunch extra hit and octopunch boss rush would be very good options for bossers. Also was wondering if we put 1 sp into Octopunch extra hit then what should we not put sp into I was thinking not putting into addition but I’m not sure what 7 is on double down so I couldn’t make that call. 1 more thing, wouldn’t it be better to put dex under one of the passive hyper skills since it can raise your damage and half the time u don’t use MP you use energy charge and when you do use MP, perseverance heals it up. I dont know for KMS, but, in GMS the hyper skills has a different required level.
for example, the required level for “energy blast – reinforce” is lv. 195 not 155; and for “energy blast – bonus attack” is lv. 155 not 195.
for “fist enrage – reinforce” is lv. 168; for “fist enrage – boss killer is lv. 189; and for “fist enrage – bonus attack” is lv. 149.
for “double lucky dice – one more chance” is lv. 183; and for “double lucky dice – enhance” is lv. 143.
I told you this because I have a Buccaneer lv. 157, and this is what comes in the description.

Hi Jason1119, personally I would equip items that gives HP MP. Accessories such as Horntail Pendant is a good one. Usually the set uniform would provide additional MAXHP and MAXMP in percentage + solid values. Also, make use of MapleStory Deck Card System to give more HP and MP Boost. Create 9 characters, each 3 character into 1 deck. Check this out : https://ayumilove.net/maplestory-character-card-system-guide/ These days after the Big Bang Patch, players do not burn a hole in their pocket in performing HP Wash. It’s too expensive and not worth it.

@HeavenPierce: It is an upcoming GMS patch for all Explorers. They are revamping skills to make the classes more enjoyable. They will also be removing Mastery Books (yay).
Is it a revamp or new explorer ? when will it be in (singapore) ?
