MapleStory Legends Mercedes Job Selection Mercedes is one of MapleStory Hero Archer (Legend) born with special abilities and traits. They are Elf who are experts in wielding dual crossbows, not 2 separate crossbows like the ones used by Marksman. They are very agile, moving across large maps and multiple platforms without any hassle. Mercedes primary stat is DEX (dexterity). KMS (Korea MapleStory) released Mercedes on Jul 26 2011. GMS (Global MapleStory) released Mercedes on Dec 16 2011.

  • She has a LOT of attack skills because of the “link” system (combo-stringing, i.e. Rising Rush -> Aerial Barrage -> Spikes Royale -> Leaf/p Tornado -> Rolling Moonsault -> Gust Dive -> Lightning Edge -> Wrath of Enlil -> Unicorn Spike -> Stunning Strikes -> Rising Rush). With so many skills that stay relevant for longer, it can be hard to find keys for all of them, much less be able to hit them in sequence.

Mercedes Beginner Job Skills

Elven Healing Elven Healing (Passive)
Uses energy purified by nature to continuously recover HP and MP.
Level 1: Recovers HP and MP by 5% of Max HP and MP every 4 seconds.
Elven Healing is by far the best healing passive auto recovery skill compared to all MapleStory Jobs! It heals your HP and MP while moving or idling by % , as if you are drinking mini elixir potions. While I was training my Mercedes, I did not use a single potion unless I’m fighting against boss or power-leveling by spamming skills unnecessarily.

Elven Blessing Elven Blessing (Link Skills | Passive)
[Job Specialty Skill] Allows you to return to Elluel, in addition to permanently receiving extra EXP through the blessings of the ancient Elves.
Level 1: Returns you to Elluel (Cooldown: 1800 sec)
Additional Effect: Permanently receive 10% additional EXP
Level 2: Returns you to Elluel (Cooldown: 1800 sec)
Additional Effect: Permanently receive 15% additional EXP
Level 3: Returns you to Elluel (Cooldown: 1800 sec)
Additional Effect: Permanently receive 20% additional EXP
Elven Blessing rewards bonus EXP for each defeated monster or quest completed. Grinding will be a bit less tiresome to level up. At level 70, you can select a character on the same account and to benefit from this permanent additional EXP!

Updraft Updraft (Passive)
Quickly move up on ladders or ropes.
Level 1: Can be used on ladders or ropes. [Command: Up Arrow Key + Jump ]
Updraft is rocket-rope skill is really helpful when climbing long rope/ladder. It can take you up to the top platform within split second. I tend to forget to use it for shorter ropes.

Elven Grace Elven Grace (Passive)
Rulers of the Elves are naturally gifted with swift movement, and fatal charms.
Level 1: Permanently increases Attack Speed +1 level, Movement Speed +10, Jump +20, Normal Monster Damage +10%, Charm level +30
Elven Grace speeds up your move and jump speed to reach monsters, destination and for any other occasions faster. Long distances would not feel boring unless you’re more fond with mounts.

Fire arrows at multiple enemies in front of you.
Level 1: MP Cost: 8, Arrows Fired: 3, Damage: 106%, Max Monsters Hit: 3

Mercedes 1st Job primary attacking skill. If monsters can be 1HKO (1 Hit Knock-out) with Level 1 skill, leave it at that and proceed to max other skills to aid you in leveling.

Potential Power is certainly useful when combo with Glide Blast. When monsters are quite close, you want to just get into the right distance quickly by walking towards the target instead of performing Glide Blast that might past over them.

Glide Blast Glide Blast (Active)
Move forward during a jump by tumbling. Movement distance increases as the skill level increases.
Level 1: MP Cost: 28, jumps a certain distance
Level 10: MP Cost: 10, jumps a certain distance
Max Glide Blast early to take advantage of the speedy travel as it reduces the time taken to reach a specific location (example: towns, training grounds, enemies). If you found a training spot that has monsters stuffed like a can of sardines, then you can opt to max this at a later time and distribute your SP to max other skill that improves your leveling progression (example: primary attacking skill).

Sharp Aim Sharp Aim (Passive)
Permanently increases Critical Rate.
Level 1: Critical Rate +2%
Level 20: Critical Rate +40%
Sharp Aim is recommended to max last. It takes a lot of levels compared the rest of the skills to enhance your character leveling at peak performance. In addition, it is based on success rate, so its not that great to perform 1 hit KO all the time with critical while training but certainly useful for boss and monsters that has high amount of health.

Explanation:
This build focuses more on mobility instead of damage as Mercedes hometown has many monsters scattered far and wide. Having Glide Blast and Potential Power max early removes the hassle of walking long distances and catching prey. Next, max Swift Dual Shot and Sharp Aim for more damage to defeat tougher enemy faster. MSEA Note:
5 SP (Skill Points) is provided upon reaching 1st Job Advancement.

Piercing Storm Piercing Storm (Active)
Continuously fire arrows containing the power of nature. Arrows can penetrate enemies.
Level 1: MP Cost: 14, Damage: 82%, Max Monsters Hit: 6, Number of Penetration Attacks: 4
Level 20: MP Cost: 24, Damage: 120%, Max Monsters Hit: 6, Number of Penetration Attacks: 4

Rising Rush Rising Rush (Active)
Pushes back multiple enemies in front of you before launching them into the air. You can deal additional damage by attacking the enemies in the air.
Level 1: MP Cost: 20. Pushes up to 8 enemies with 160% Damage, and attacks them at 160% Damage 2 times, launching them in the air. Skill damage +3%p on airborne enemies.
Level 10: MP Cost: 25. Pushes up to 8 enemies with 250% Damage, and attacks them at 250% Damage 2 times, launching them in the air. Skill damage +30%p on airborne enemies.
Skill can now be used in conjunction with the Down arrow key in order to launch the enemy in place instead of pushing them back. Skill delay has been adjusted.

Parting Shot Parting Shot (Active)
Required Skill: Rising Rush (1)
Fires arrows at enemies launched into the air with Rising Rush. Can only be used after Rising Rush.

Ignis Roar Ignis Roar (Supportive)
Note: Level 5 required to learn Ancient Warding.
Summons the power of the Fire Spirit to greatly increase your ATT for a time. Permanently increases Avoidability. Also increases Attack Power when using linked skills.
Level 1: Increases Final Damage +2% when using Combo Skills. Final Damage increase from using Combo Skills can stack up to 10 times. Lasts for 15 sec. The stacked Final Damage Bonus is summed up. Permanently gives 5% chance to gain Evasion, Final Damage +5% and ATT +2.
Level 20: Increases Final Damage +2% when using Combo Skills. Final Damage increase from using Combo Skills can stack up to 10 times. Lasts for 15 sec. The stacked Final Damage Bonus is summed up. Permanently gives 20% chance to gain Evasion, Final Damage +15% and ATT +40.

Water Shield Water Shield (Supportive)
Borrows the power of the spirits to raise a water barrier around you for a fixed period of time. The barrier absorbs a portion of the damage you receive, and increases resistance against abnormal status and all elemental attacks.
Level 1: MP Cost: 60, Damage Absorption: 12%, Duration: 110 sec, Abnormal Status and Elemental Resistance: +7%.
Level 10: MP Cost: 100, Damage Absorption: 30%, Duration: 200 sec, Abnormal Status and Elemental Resistance: +25%.

Aerial Barrage Aerial Barrage (Active)
A combo skill used after lifting enemies into the air with Rising Rush. Fly towards airborne enemies, peppering them with swift attacks. In addition, permanently increases the damage caused by Rising Rush. Can be linked with Leaf Tornado, Gust Dive, Rolling Moonsault, Spikes Royale, or Wrath of Enlil.
Level 1: MP Cost: 28, Attack up to 8 enemies at 97% Damage 6 times. Passive Effects: Rising Rush Damage +60%p

Elemental Knights Elemental Knights (Supportive)
Summons an Ice Spirit, Fire Spirit, or Shadow Spirit to aid you in battle. Elemental Knights do not take damage even if they attack enemies with attack reflection. Ice Spirit: Has a chance to freeze enemies. Fire Spirit: Deals continuous fire damage to enemies. Shadow Spirit: Deals increased damage.

Explanation:
This build aimed on fast grinding or power leveling maps where mobs spawns in pack within a confined area and using link skills in such a small map is inefficient. Therefore, using the regular training ability which is shooting is highly recommended here. Elemental Knights is maxed last since it ‘s causes inconveniences by agitating monsters unnecessarily and it does not attack much when it’s summoned.

Explanation:
Leap Tornado and Aerial Barrage are 2 great Mercedes skill for fast leveling. This depends on player training spot preferences. If you plan to train on long horizontal platform, max Aerial Barrage first. Otherwise, max Leap Tornado. I used Leap Tornado in Jesters Training Map as it has many close platforms where Aerial Barrage is very ineffective. Before maxing either one of them, proceed with maxing Ignis Roar first for an incredible additional damage. Stunning Strikes can switch queue with Water Elemental and Elemental Knight if you don’t frequently shoot much. Unicorn Spike is good for bossing or very tough monsters but it isn’t spammable.

Ishtar's Ring Ishtar’s Ring (Active)
Required Skill: Stunning Strikes (MAX)
Borrows the power of Ishtar, a legendary weapon, to rapidly fire arrows at enemies ahead of you. Hold down the skill key to fire arrows continuously. In addition, damage from Stunning Strikes will be increased permanently.
Level 1: MP Cost: 8. Attacks enemies in front at 191% damage 2 times. Each hit increases the duration of Ignis Roar by 0.1 sec. Passive Effect: Unicorn Spike damage +42%p
Level 30: MP Cost: 10. Attacks enemies in front at 220% damage 2 times. Each hit increases the duration of Ignis Roar by 0.1 sec. Passive Effect: Unicorn Spike damage +100%p

Spikes Royale Spikes Royale (Active)
Required Skill: Leap Tornado (10)
Jumps and drops a legendary spear onto multiple enemies in front. This skill decreases its targets’ Defense and always inflicts Critical damage. Also adds the Passive effect that permanently increases Leaf Tornado damage. Can be chained with Leaf Tornado, Gust Dive, Rolling Moonsault, and Wrath of Enreal. Each chained skill decreases this skill’s cooldown -1 second.
Level 1: MP Cost: 40, Critically attack up to 12 enemies at 510% Damage 3 times. Reduces enemy DEF by 11% for 11 sec. Cooldown: 5 sec. When using as combo skill, reduce cooldown by 1 sec. Passive Effects: Leaf Tornado damage +73%p
Level 20: Consumes 60 MP to Critically attack up to 12 enemies at 700% Damage 3 times. Reduces enemy DEF by 30% for 30 sec. Cooldown: 5 sec. When using as combo skill, reduce cooldown by 1 sec. Passive Effects: Leaf Tornado damage +130%p

Lightning Edge Lightning Edge (Active)
Dash forward, attacking multiple enemies in your way. Temporarily ignores Collision when used against Boss monsters and casts a debuff that increases Ishtar’s Ring damage. Also adds the Passive effect that permanently increases Gust Dive damage. Can be chained with Rising Rush, Stunning Strikes, Unicorn Spike, Spikes Royale, and Wrath of Enreal.
Level 1: MP Cost: 54, Attack up to 8 enemies at 275% Damage 3 times while moving forward. Temporarily ignores Collision when Lightning Edge is used against Boss monsters and casts a debuff that increases Ishtar’s Ring damage +0.7% for 30 sec. Passive Effects: Gust Dive damage +83%p
Level 30: MP Cost: 74 MP, Attack up to 8 enemies at 420% Damage 3 times while moving forward. Temporarily ignores Collision when Lightning Edge is used against Boss monsters and casts a debuff that increases Ishtar’s Ring damage +20% for 30 sec. Passive Effects: Gust Dive damage +170%p

Rolling Moonsault Rolling Moonsault (Active)
Enables you to quickly spin and attack multiple times while in midair. Press the skill key or the Down and Basic Attack keys after Rising Rush to activate it. Can be chained with Leaf Tornado, Gust Dive, Spikes Royale, and Wrath of Enreal. Also adds the Passive effect that permanently increases Rising Rush and Aerial Barrage damage.
Level 1: MP Cost: 54. Attacks up to 8 enemies at 262% Damage 6 times. Resets Glide Blast after use. Cooldown: 4 sec. Passive Effects: Rising Rush/Aerial Barrage damage +157%p

Permanently increases Attack Power. Greatly increases the damage and activation rate of your Final Attack.
Level 1: Attack Power: +6 permanently. Final Attack Chance: 46%, Damage: 91%, Times Activated: 2.
Level 30: Attack Power: +20 permanently. Final Attack Chance: 75%, Damage: 120%, Times Activated: 2.

Staggering Strikes | Advanced Stunning Strikes (Active)
Required Skill: Stunning Strikes (MAX)
Adds more powerful attack with enhanced Stunning Strikes.
Level 1: MP Cost: 35. Shoots 4 arrows that each attacks up to 8 enemies at 344% Damage. 80% chance of causing Stun for 6 sec. Final damage +20% on Stunned enemies.
Level 10: MP Cost: 35. Shoots 4 arrows that each attacks up to 8 enemies at 380% Damage. 80% chance of causing Stun for 6 sec. Final damage +20% on Stunned enemies.

Maple Warrior Maple Warrior (Supportive)
Temporarily increases the stats of all party members. Does not stack with Maple Warrior, Cygnus Knights, Nova Warrior, Sengoku Warrior, President’s Orders and Rhinne’s Protection.
Level 1: MP Cost: 10, All AP invested stats +1% for 30 sec
Level 30: MP Cost: 70, All AP invested stats +15% for 900 sec

Hero's Will Hero’s Will (Active)

Sylvidia’s Flight | Sylvidia

Ride the queen of unicorns, Sylvidia, into battle. While riding, you can reuse the skill to use a rush attack. You can hold down the ↑ key and reuse the skill to use a rush attack upwards. While in the air, you can activate the rush attack by pressing the jump key. While riding Sylvidia, the Ignis Roar buff will be stacked to the maximum value and you can only use certain skills.
Level 1: Consumes 1000 MP. For 30 seconds, ride Sylvidia. While riding, reduce damage taken from attacks (including % HP attacks) by 75%. The rush attack deals 676% damage 8 times on up to 12 enemies. Cooldown: 120 seconds.

Mercedes Storyline

Mercedes is the ruler of the elves, who have been asleep for hundreds of years. Along with Aran and Freud, she is one of the five heroes who sealed the Black Mage. Much like Aran, Mercedes and her people were cursed by the Black Mage before he was sealed, causing the elves to fall into a long sleep. Before succumbing to the curse, Mercedes sealed the elves’ home of Elluel so that no one could enter while the curse still held sway. During Mercedes’ tutorial, you see a fully animated video of her, Freud, and Afrien attacking the Black Mage’s stronghold, then you play through the ensuing events in the past. Upon awakening in the present, Mercedes find that she has weakened considerably and that the other elves are still sealed.

Mercedes (Queen of Elf) and Freud invaded Temple of Time to defeat Black Mage but was unsuccessful. She was knocked unconscious in Leafre. During that time, a Mapler was travelling from future to Leafre of Past while tracking Arkarium. He found Mercedes lying unconscious and revived her using Essence of Arien. Mercedes awakens and spotted Freud (Evan) and Afrien (King of Onyx Dragon). Freud died as he took the curse on Afrien behalf to protect him. Afrien left behind an egg (this egg gives birth to Mir where a boy trains it and becomes the next Evan). Afrien took Mercedes back to her hometown, Elluel. Mercedes warns her citizen regarding the curse and quickly seal off Elluel from outside world to prevent Black Mage spell from infiltrating but her effort was futile. One by one, the elves were encased in ice and lastly Mercedes was frozen and put into deep sleep due to the curse placed by Black Mage. After a century passed by, Mercedes awakens from her slumber and found that her people still remained trapped in ice. She could remember her past as if it just happened yesterday. Mercedes was surprised her level dropped from 200 to 10, causing her to shout in anger. She calmed down and recap the events that happened before her, and proceed with training herself on Slimes nearby Elluel to be strong enough to venture into Maple World.

Mercedes Notes

  • Mercedes can only be created by selecting the Mercedes option when creating a new character.
    At creation, you can change Mercedes’ gender and face.
  • Mercedes is Lv.10 with her 1st job already obtained by the time the required portion of her tutorial is complete.
  • Her 2nd job advancement can be made at Lv.30 through a quest.
  • After making the 2nd job advancement, she automatically makes job advancements at Lv.60 and Lv.100.
  • She gains 65 SP for her 1st job skills, so they all can be raised to their max level.
  • Mercedes can equip Bowman type equipment, and she uses a new type of weapon called dual Bowguns.
  • She must have a dual Bowguns equipped in order to perform most of her skills.
  • Dual Bowguns use magic arrows as their ammunition. These magic arrows are not consumed when used. Lv.10, 30, 60, and 100 magic arrows can be purchased in Elluel.
  • Dual Bowguns that are of a higher level than the beginning one are only available at the merchant found in Elluel (up to Lv.25). They can also be obtained through smithing, monster drops, and from certain events.
  • Mercedes can get a unicorn mount starting at Lv.70 and can upgrade it starting at Lv.120.
  • Each Mercedes character has its own individual Cash Inventory not shared with other characters.
