MapleStory Pathfinder Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Adventurer Explorer Pathfinder MapleStory Pathfinder (KR: 메이플스토리 패스파인더) is an inquisitive adventurer who is mesmerized by ancient relics. While on expedition, Pathfinder found an Ancient Bow which allows them to utilizes ancient power but in exchange of being cursed. They wield Ancient Bow to attack enemies. Pathfinder have 3 types of skills which are Cardinal Force skill, Ancient Force skill and Enchant Force skill. Cardinal Force Skill are the primary skills to charge the Relic Gauge with Ancient Force and it also sets the type Relic Pattern. Ancient Force skills consumes Ancient Force instead of MP to delivers a more powerful dagmage against enemies. Enchant Force skills consume both Ancient Force and Relic Pattern. There are 3 types of Relic Pattern (Discharge, Blast, Transition). Cardinal Discharge skill sets the Discharge Pattern, Cardinal Blast skill sets the Blast Pattern and Cardinal Transition skill sets the Transition Pattern. Discharge enhancement allows Enchant skill is specifically deal with large enemies mobs better. Blast enhancement allows Enchant skills to deal high amount of damage to a small amount of enemies. Transition enhancement allows Enchant skill to debuff enemies or to enable movement during combat. MapleStory Pathfinder job is released in KMST on Jan 17, 2019 and in KMS on Jan 31, 2019. It is approximately released to GMS and MSEA around early April or late July 2019 (3 ~ 6 months).

Ancient Curse (Hidden Skill)
Various stats fall due to the unknown curse. By the influence of curse, only Ancient Bow can be equipped. As the equipped Relic grows stronger, the curse effect grows weaker. Skills used with Ancient Bow does not consume arrows.
Note: Available upon obtaining Cursed Relic. Debuff grows weaker with every job advancement. Appears as permanent buff instead of within the skill list.
Level 1: Status Resistance: -20, Defense: -20%, Critical Rate: -20%
Level 2: Status Resistance: -20, Defense: -20%

Archer 1st Job Skills

Curse Weakening I
Activates the power of the Relic in constant battle, weakening the Ancient Curse.
Level 1: Activates during Cardinal Force skill attacks. Stacks up to 10, Critical Rate +2% only when afflicted by a curse decreasing Critical Rate.
Note: Not affected by Buff Duration Increase.

Cardinal Discharge (Cardinal Force: Discharge)
Shoots out guided arrows at the target within range which never misses. Guided arrows do not affect enemies in the Damage Reflection state. Effect: Can learn the 2nd Skill, Cardinal Discharge Enhancement
Level 1: MP Cost: 5. Fires an arrow that attacks up to 4 enemies 4 times at 52% Damage.
Level 20: MP Cost: 10. Fires an arrow that attacks up to 4 enemies 4 times at 90% Damage.

Double Jump
Enables you to jump twice and travel a longer distance. Press the [Up], [Up] arrow key consecutively to jump up one more time, and press the [Down], [Down] arrow key consecutively to descend fast.
Level 1: MP Cost: 28. Jumps a certain distance.
Level 10: MP Cost: 10. Jumps a certain distance.

Archer Mastery
Learns the basics of being an archer. Increases Range, MSPD and Max MSPD.
Level 1: Range +8, MSPD +2, Max MSPD +146

Critical Shot
Increases Critical Rate.

Pathfinder 2nd Job Skills

Relic Charge I
Collect energy for the Relic you have equipped to use in battle. Using Cardinal Force skills changes the pattern of the Relic, and the gauge will be charged with successful attacks. The charged gauge is used for powerful Ancient Force skills. After using Cardinal Force, you can combo it with other Cardinal Force or Ancient Force in rapid successions.
Level 1: Max Relic Gauge 1000. Attacking with Cardinal Force skill charges the Relic gauge by 10. Cardinal Discharge charges 5 whenever a Guided Arrow hits the enemy. Using a different Cardinal Force skill than the previous one reduces the cooldown of Ancient Force skill by 0.5 sec. excluding 5th Advancement Skills.

Curse Weakening II
Activates the power of the Relic in constant battle, slightly weakening the Ancient Curse.
Level 1: Activates during Cardinal Force skill attacks. Stacks up to 10, DEF +2% only when afflicted by
a curse decreasing DEF.

Cardinal Discharge Enhancement
Required Skill: Cardinal Discharge (MAX)
Enhance Cardinal Discharge. Lv. 10 Effect: Can learn the 4th skill, Advanced Cardinal Force.
Level 1: MP Cost: 10. Fires an arrow that attacks up to 5 enemies 4 times at 110% Damage. When attacking Boss monsters, fires 1 additional arrows.
Level 10: MP Cost: 15. Fires an arrow that attacks up to 5 enemies 4 times at 200% Damage. When attacking Boss monsters, fires 1 additional arrows.

Cardinal Blast (Cardinal Force: Blast)
Fires an arrow concentrated with explosive energy that flies straight forward. The fired arrow explodes when it touches the enemy or when it reaches the maximum range. Lv. 20 Effect: Can learn the 3rd skill, Cardinal Blast Enhancement.
Level 1: MP Cost: 10. When the arrow explodes, it attacks up to 4 enemies at 105% damage 4 times
Level 20: MP Cost: 15. When the arrow explodes, it attacks up to 4 enemies at 200% damage 4 times

Split Mistel (Ancient Force)
Fires a mystical arrow imbued with the power of the Relic. Whenever the arrow penetrates through an enemy, an additional magic arrow is created to attack nearby enemies.
Level 1: Relic Gauge Cost: 50. Attacks up to 8 enemies at 110% damage while penetrating 4 times. Penetrating an enemy creates 2 magic arrows that deals 55% damage 4 times.
Cooldown: 10 sec.
Level 19: Relic Gauge Cost: 50. Attacks up to 8 enemies at 200% damage while penetrating 4 times. Penetrating an enemy creates 2 magic arrows that deals 100% damage 4 times.
Cooldown: 10 sec.

Ancient Bow Booster
Required Skill: Ancient Bow Mastery Lv. 5 or above
Temporarily increases Ancient Bow ASPD by 2 levels at the cost of MP.
Level 1: MP Cost: 29. Increases Ancient Bow ASPD for 75 sec.
Level 10: MP Cost: 11. Increases Ancient Bow ASPD for 300 sec.

Ancient Bow Mastery
Increases Mastery and ATT for Ancient Bows. Lv. 10 Effect: Can learn the 4th Skill, Ancient Bow Expert.

You can move the character forward or upward by using the directional keys during skill cast. If you do not specify a direction, you will swing the weapon in place. Lv. 20 Effect: Can learn the 4th skill, Advanced Cardinal Force

Level 1: MP Cost: 43. Summons Raven for 76 sec. Attacks up to 4 enemies at 228% damage at once.

Level 10: MP Cost: 70. Summons Raven for 220 sec. Attacks up to 4 enemies at 390% damage at once.

Curse Tolerance
You become temporarily more resistant towards various status effects based on your tolerance against curses. When afflicted by a status effect during the buff’s duration, you gain additional Status Resistance. Permanently increases Status Resist and All Elemental Resistances.
Level 1: MP Cost: 32. Status Resistance +17 for 105 sec. If afflicted by a status effect during the buff’s duration, you gain 7 additional Status Resistance, stacking up to 5 times. [Passive Effect: Status Resistance +17, All Elemental Resistances +17%]
Level 14: MP Cost: 58. Status Resistance +30 for 300 sec. If afflicted by a status effect during the buff’s duration, you gain 20 additional Status Resistance, stacking up to 5 times. [Passive Effect: Status Resistance +30, All Elemental Resistances +30%]

Ancient Guidance
Whenever the Relic Gauge is filled up to a certain amount, a powerful forces flows out from the Relic to enhance the Pathfinder’s combat abilities. The active state of the Relic is displayed around the Relic Gauge, and the Relic value does not increase when the gauge is full.
Level 1: Whenever Relic Gauge is filled to 1000, increases Final Damage +6% for 30 sec. Recovers 20% HP/MP when activated. [Passive Effect: Max HP +5%, Final Damage +1%]
Level 10: Whenever Relic Gauge is filled to 1000, increases Final Damage +15% for 30 sec. Recovers 20% HP/MP when activated. [Passive Effect: Max HP +50%, Final Damage +10%]

Additional Blast
Required Skills: Cardinal Blast Enhancement Lv. 5 or above
Creates a magic arrow by revealing the power of Blast stored in the Relic. The magic arrow traces enemies within range to attack. Magic Arrows do not affect enemies with the Damage Reflection effect.
Level 1: If Cardinal Discharge is used while the Relic has the Blast pattern, you have 2% chance of creating 2 magic arrows. Magic arrows traces nearby enemies for 2 sec., dealing explosive damage up to 4 enemies at 74%, 3 times.
Level 20: If Cardinal Discharge is used while the Relic has the Blast pattern, you have 40% chance of creating 2 magic arrows. Magic arrows traces nearby enemies for 2 sec., dealing explosive damage up to 4 enemies at 150%, 3 times.

Dodge
Grants you a chance to evade enemy attacks. When you succeed, your attacks are guaranteed to be Critical Hits for the following 1 second.
Level 1: 12% Evade chance. Successful evasion guarantees Critical Hits for the following 1 sec.
Level 10: 30% Evade chance. Successful evasion guarantees Critical Hits for the following 1 sec.

Essence of Archer
Learns the essence of being an archer to improve combat abilities.

Pathfinder 4th Job Skills

Relic Charge II
The power of the completed Relic allows smoother energy circulation and enables enhancing Enchant Force with the power of Cardinal Force. Enchant Force gains a unique attribute based on the Relic’s pattern. The Relic’s pattern resets after using Enchant Force. Enchant Force can be used in rapid succession after using Cardinal Force.
Level 1: Attacking with Cardinal Force skill charges the Relic gauge by 20.
+ Cardinal Discharge charges 10 whenever an arrow hits the enemy.
+ When Raven attacks an enemy, charges 10.
+ Using a different Cardinal Force skill than the previous one reduces the cooldown of Ancient Force/Enchant Force skill by 1 sec. excluding 5th Advancement Skills.

Curse Transition
Debuff enemies with Ancient Curse when using certain skills. Debuffed enemies received additional critical damage. Enemies that are cursed will have higher priority to be attacked by the Raven. Max Level is 1.
Level 1: Inflict Ancient Curse debuff to enemies when using a certain skill which can stack up to 5 times for 8 seconds. Critical Damage: +4% per stack against debuffed enemies.

Advanced Cardinal Force
Enhances all Cardinal Force skills with the power of the completed Relic.
Level 1: MP Cost when using Cardinal Force skills: 20.
Cardinal Discharge: Fires an arrow that attacks up to 6 enemies at 205% damage 4 times. Fires an additional arrow if there is a Boss monster in range.
Cardinal Blast: Attacks up to 6 enemies at 305% damage 4 times when the arrow explodes.
Final damage increases by 10% per number of targets less than the maximum amount.
Cardinal Transition: Consumes 1 Swift Wind. Attacks up to 7 enemies at the arrival point at 407% damage 5 times. Swift Wind recharges by 1 every 7 sec. and up to 5 can be stored. You become immune to all knockback attacks while casting the skill and enemies damaged by your attacks are inflicted with 1 stack of Ancient Curse debuff.
Level 20: MP Cost when using Cardinal Force skills: 30.
Cardinal Discharge: Fires an arrow that attacks up to 6 enemies at 300% damage 4 times. Fires an additional arrow if there is a Boss monster in range.
Cardinal Blast: Attacks up to 6 enemies at 400% damage 4 times when the arrow explodes.
Final damage increases by 10% per number of targets less than the maximum amount.
Cardinal Transition: Consumes 1 Swift Wind. Attacks up to 7 enemies at the arrival point at 540% damage 5 times. Swift Wind recharges by 1 every 7 sec. and up to 5 can be stored. You become immune to all knockback attacks while casting the skill and enemies damaged by your attacks are inflicted with 1 stack of Ancient Curse debuff.

Edge of Resonance (Ancient Force)
Summons a blade of the soul that resonates with the Ancient Curse and attacks the nearby enemies. Deals greater damage to enemies inflicted with the Ancient Curse debuff. Can be used while using other skills.
Level 1: Relic Gauge Cost: 100. Attacks up to 8 enemies at 365% damage 6 times. Increases Final Damage per Ancient Curse Debuff +10%. Cooldown: 15 sec.
Level 30: Relic Gauge Cost: 100. Attacks up to 8 enemies at 800% damage 6 times. Increases Final Damage per Ancient Curse Debuff +10%. Cooldown: 15 sec.

Combo Assault (Enchant Force)
Attacks the nearby enemy with a bow, and then shoots an arrow flying through space to attack a wide range of enemies.
– Discharge Enhancement: Arrows deal damage to enemies in a wider range.
– Blast Enhancement: Performs a powerful strike to an enemy with your bow.
– Transition Enhancement: Gives multiple Ancient Curse Debuff stacks to enemies damaged by your bow attack.
Level 1: Relic Gauge Cost: 150. Bow attack deals damage to up to 4 enemies at 210% damage 7 times. Damaged enemies are inflicted with 1 stacks of the Ancient Curse Debuff. Arrows deal damage up to 10 enemies at 260% damage 5 times. Cooldown: 20 sec.

Attacks nearby enemies with a bow, and then shoots arrows flying through space to attack a wide range of enemies. Deals a more powerful blow by empowering the bow.
Level 1: Relic Gauge Cost: 150. Bow attack deals damage to up to 1 enemies at 310% damage 8 times. Damaged enemies are inflicted with 1 stacks of the Ancient Curse Debuff. Arrows deal damage up to 10 enemies at 310% damage 5 times. Cooldown: 20 sec.

Combo Assault (Enchant Force: Transition)
Attacks nearby enemies with a bow, and then shoots arrows flying through space to attack a wide range of enemies. Concentrates the power of the curse on to your bow to transmit a deadly curse to enemies hit.

Sharp Eyes
Temporarily grants party members the ability to locate enemy’s weak spot to deal fatal damage to that enemy.

Level 30: MP Cost: 45. Critical Rate +20%, Critical Damage +15% for 300 sec.

Maple Warrior
Temporarily increases all stats of party members by a certain percentage. Does not stack with Maple Warrior, Cygnus Knights, Nova Warrior, Sengoku Warrior, Other World Warrior, or Rhinne’s Protection
Level 1: MP Cost: 10. All AP invested stats +1% for 30 sec.
Level 30: MP Cost: 70. All AP invested stats +15% for 900 sec.

Warrior Will
Enables you to focus your mind and remove Status Effects cast on you. Grants immunity to Status effects for 3 sec. Cannot cancel certain Status Effects.
Level 1: MP Cost: 30. Cooldown: 600 sec.
Level 5: MP Cost: 30. Cooldown: 360 sec.

Additional Transition
Required Skills: Cardinal Transition Lv. 20 or above
When you use Cardinal Discharge or Cardinal Blast by releasing the power of Transition stored in the Relic, it also fires a cursed arrow. Permanently increases ATT.
Level 1: If Cardinal Discharge or Cardinal Blast is used while the Relic has the Transition pattern, your attacks have 2% chance of inflicted 1 stack of Ancient Curse for up to 6 attacks over 7 sec. Permanently increases +ATT 1%.
Level 20: If Cardinal Discharge or Cardinal Blast is used while the Relic has the Transition pattern, your attacks have 40% chance of inflicted 1 stack of Ancient Curse for up to 6 attacks over 7 sec. Permanently increases +ATT 20%.

Ancient Archery

    it seems like doing that combo with high ping look slower than low ping player

    I kinda like Pathfinder mobility, damage output and the range, but somehow can’t last long as low defense and low HP.

    Any way to compensate this?

    Getting a few touch of monster and you will in red, HP potion never seems to enough…

    i don’t yet know if its bugged or not but at least in gms i have been playing PF got 105% buff duration (50 inner 40 legion 15 mechanic) and it doesn’t actually actively do anything. the skills you would want it to affect aren’t using it such as guidance of the ancient so i have buff duration for mihile link? (which has 100% up time at rank 3)

    @Raldy: Sure, if you feel that your equipment gear does not provide much Ignore Defense for Bossing, you can replace “Cardinal Force – Additional Enhance” with “Sharp Eyes – Ignore Guard”. However, if your character has reached the max damage cap as an end game player, you will need as much hits as possible against your target/enemy for maximum DPS (Damage Per Second).

    Hey, is there a reason to not take ignore 20% DEF for pathfinder’s hyper skill? I feel that negating 20% is really effective, over lets say additional +1 attack from spells.

    Do you think it’s find to use hyper skill point on sharp eyes ignore defense instead of ancient force? I feel like ancient force is barely a part of my total damage add would rather spec for a permanent ignore defense

    @greg: Hi Grey, Thanks for sharing your experiment results with us! What do you mean by BD? Are you referring to just Buff Duration for Path Finder? or there is another term for it?

    Aspd does not affect Pathfinder! test severe time with green pot/dsi/BAM speed aura/Prayer. Number of hits remained the same when using blast discharge combo. According to reddit Pathfinder follows cardena’s weapons art chaining mechanics which is not affected by aspd.
    To maximise DPS. Macro blast and discharge on you skill macro. Dont just use blast..
    IA should be BD nd buff Duration. Increase up time of ancient guidance

    @Barium5: I guess Pathfinder is a special adventurer class since it has its own unique storyline similarly to Dual Blade and Cannoneer 🙂

    @Khaz: After leveling up Pathfinder in couple of hours, I found that she is quite a good mobber, good bosser with excellent mobility. Her primary attacking skills (Cardinal Discharge, Blast and Transition) cover a lot of ground especially in larger maps with monsters filled to the brim with Kanna’s kishin.

    Pairing these with ancient skills (Split Mistel and Triple Impact), the Split Mistel can knock out the entire flat platform map along with monsters on different platform easily if you have geared Pathfinder with excellent gear.

    Finally, reaching 4th job unlocks a skill Relic Charge II allows you to decrease the cooldown of Ancient Force and Enchant Force skill. Just macro all 3 Cardinal skills in 1 key and sit and spam on a mob of monster in 1 location. Once the Combo Assault skill is available (cooldown reset), switched to Discharge mode and then rain havoc to monstesr nearby. Easily KO all 12 enemies in a medium map with lots monsters on different platforms such as Blood Harps at Minar Forest. My Kanna kishin had some trouble keeping up the spawn pace 🙂

    Hi, I’ve been using your guide for more than 3 years and found it really useful! However, I think you left out the skill build for 2 3rd job skills: Additional Blast and Dodge. Do update so other people will not get confused AHAHAH keep it up!!

    Hey, wanted to know if Pathfinder will be able to take advantage of buff/summon duration? [exclude the Raven skill since it’s recastable]
    And what version of the class do you think we’ll get on gms? the first version, or the nerfed version? [latest kms version of the class]

    btw, do you think that Pathfinder will scale well in gms when it comes to mobbing capabilities with kishin?

    Wouldn’t Pathfinder be a Special Class like Dual Blade and Cannoneer? This would complete all jobs having a 3rd branch.
