How To Guides

Protection against Unsuccessful Scrolling with Shields

Using a Shielding Ward on a piece of equipment protects it from being destroyed by scrolls that have a chance to do so.

  • Purchase a Shielding Ward from the Cash Shop, and move it into your item inventory.
  • After leaving the Cash Shop, open your item inventory and your equipment inventory.
  • Drag the Shielding Ward from the Cash tab of your item inventory and drop it onto the item you want to protect in your equip inventory. A shield icon will then appear on the corner of the item’s icon.
  • Go to the Use tab of your item inventory, drag a scroll that has a chance to destroy an item if it fails, and drop it onto the shielded item (the scroll must be labeled as being able to work on that type of item).
  • If the scroll fails, your item won’t be destroyed!
  • The Shielding Ward’s protection will be used up whether or not the upgrade scroll was successful.
Shielding Wards cannot be used on items that have been successfully enhanced to twelve or more stars. In the Legends update, the limit was increased from the previous eight.

Using a Shield Scroll on a piece of equipment protects it from having its available upgrade count reduced by a failed scroll.

  • Purchase a Shield Scroll from the Cash Shop, and move it into your item inventory.
  • After leaving the Cash Shop, open your item inventory and your equipment inventory.
  • Drag the Shield Scroll from the Cash tab of your item inventory and drop it onto the item you want to protect in your equip inventory. A message will appear in the item’s description that upgrade slot protection is active.
  • Go to the Use tab of your item inventory and drag a scroll and drop it onto the shielded item (the scroll must be labeled as being able to work on that type of item).
  • If the scroll fails, an upgrade slot won’t be used!
  • The Shield Scroll’s protection will be used up whether or not the upgrade scroll was successful.
You can use both of these scrolls on an item for maximum protection when using upgrade scrolls.

i get on my sw eye accessory legendary drop rate (reboot)

  2. Whyterius

Any plans to expand this guide? I’m new to all of this potential system, and it seems quite critical towards min/maxing my characters, and as a new player in reboot I find it quite overwhelming :/

  3. AcidLinkz

    add legendary tier

  4. Die

can you still buy magnifying glasses from brass

Hi kjh07, all MapleStory Decent Skill requires Unique or Higher Potential Stat and the equipment level must be level 70 and above (applies for Decent Hyper Body, Decent Mystic Door, Decent Haste) and Equipment Level 120 and above for Decent Sharp Eyes. Hope that helps 🙂

  6. kjh07

for the skill decent haste and sharp eyes are unique or legendary state?

  7. Nick

If i had a uni earring, and i recube it using any of those abovementioned cubes, would the tier possibly downgrade itself after recube?

  8. DolphinZai

    Hi AyumiLove 🙂
i would like to ask the ATT and %ATT potential is refering to W.A or M.A or both?
because i got a good staff but the potential is +6% ATT. So i kinda confused with it as it did not stated that it’s W.A or M.A.

  9. Stephen

I cant use the shielding ward on my staff
Its said my staff is already superior (but i only have 4 star)
    What should i do?

Hi Sean Chen, open your Inventory Window (I), and at the bottom there is a magnifying glass. Click on it and then click again on the potential item (with red-border line).

  11. Sean Chen

I cant seem to find magnifying glasses. Where do i get them?

  12. Eddie

Is there any items with 30% all stats in legendary potential? Or the highest in all stats % item

  13. Ayumilove Post author

Hi david_kim9191, they are items in Cash Shop that can lock an item to prevent it from being sold/dropped. Same goes with locking a potential from changing. I have not frequent the Cash Shop for a long time, therefore I couldn’t recommend items in the Cash Shop. Hopefully you can find them in there available.

  14. [email protected]

Do they have shield wards in the cash shop anymore?
Think they got rid of it..
What should i use then to protect my item? haha
    thanks 🙂

  15. 0motumbo0

legendary give up to 12% stat

Hi Aoki, it depends on luck whether your Miracle Cubes allows you to upgrade from Rare, Unique and to Legendary. For me, it took me 100+ regular Miracle Cubes to set it to Legendary Stat which is awfully waste of money! From that day, I don’t plan to cube anymore, just purchase from those who have already created godly potential items 🙂

  17. Aoki

Hi ayumilove, upgrading the equipment to legendary isit depending on my luck right? Or see the potential of the equipment?

  18. KaiserLover

i used revolutionary cube and it added a line to my epic 2h sword O.o

  19. Ayumilove Post author

Hi goldenheracross, it is not possible for Potential Lines to go from 3 to 2. It is always increasing. Max is 3 potential lines.

  20. goldenheracross

Do Premium cubes or rev cubes have a chance of reverting a 3 line back to 2 lines?

  21. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Jason, have you not unreveal the hidden potential with the magnifying glass? Probably you will need to do this first.

  22. jason

hi i want to add a bonus potential to my loveless pescas which already has a hidden potential, when i try use bonus potential scroll/golden carver it says that it cannot be used on this item. Do you know why it does this? im thinking that i need to equip the pescas first

  23. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Lihao, I think it does not matter on the order of miracle cubes being used on an item unless you want to save cost since you want to upgrade the cube to Unique first, then use Super Miracle Cube to get it to Legendary. (Super Miracle Cube is a little more expensive compared to Miracle Cube)

  24. Lihao

Hi . Is there a limit in using the cubes?
example, i use 10 miracle cubes first, can i use another 10 super miracle cube again on the same item?

  25. Ayumilove Post author

Hi James, it is not possible to transfer Potential Stats from 1 item to the other. Otherwise, it will be too easy to create super godly equipment and this hurts Nexon MapleStory Business in the sense of players not buying their Premium Cubes from Cash Shp to change the item’s potential that they want, let’s say from INT to STR on their Warrior’s equip/weapon.

  26. James

Is it possible to swap potential to another item?
For example, I have a Soul Shooter with +15% int and I want it on a wand, is it possible to give the +15% int to the wand with an anvil or something?
