MapleStory2 is a 3D game with a block-based world similar to MineCraft. Customization is a key feature, allowing you to change the visual design of your player and many game elements such as items. You will be able to create your own house, dungeons and more. The original MapleStory and MapleStory2 will be separate games, therefore your players and progress cannot be transferred over. Furthermore, Nexon will continue to maintain and run both at the same time, so you will not lose anything once MapleStory2 launches. MapleStory2 is being developed by Nsquare, the joint development studio formed by Nexon and NCsoft. MapleStory 2 will be released in Korea on July 7th 2015 at 7PM KST (10:00 UTC+0).

Q: Can I play MapleStory2 with an unverified Account?
A: No, you can’t yet as with the required verification, you must ensure that you live in Korea so you will not be able to bypass that. You can purchase verified Accounts for $12 USD.
Q: How to get activated/verified accounts?
A: There is two way to get an Activated Nexon (KR) account needed to play Maplestory 2:
1. Having a Korean friend that could activate your Nexon (KR) Account using a Korean phone.
2. Purchasing an Activated Nexon (KR) Account on a site specialized in selling Korean Games Accounts.
Q: Do I need a VPN to play MapleStory2?
A: No, you don’t there is no risk at getting banned if you don’t use a VPN as long as you don’t share an account.
Q: How do I login/play into MapleStory2?
1. Visit MapleStory2 Nexon Homepage
2. Enter verified account credentials (e-mail and password). Click “LOG IN” (blue button).
3. The website redirects to a captcha page.
4. Re-enter verified account credentials with correct captcha. Click “LOG IN”.
4. Wait for browser to auto-refresh page in 5 seconds to return to MapleStory2 Nexon Homepage.
5. Click “Game Start” yellow button.
6. Wait 10~30 seconds for game to start.
Note: If you complete step 2 using an unverified account, you will not be redirected to a captcha page and receive a small pop-up window error message. If you installed MapleStory2 in a SSD (Solid State Drive), it will take less than 20 seconds for the game to boot/start whereas 20~40 seconds if installed in a HDD (Hard Disk)
Q: Why does the update take so long?
A: This is probably because you aren’t located in Korea. This means that your ping is high and the download speed low as-well as many are updating at the moment.
Q: Why am I stuck in Maple-Island?
A: This happened to me twice and is probably because of the high ping/Server Maintenance they made. Just restart the Game and everything should be fine.
Q: Why did my Level/EXP reset?
A: This is because of the Server Maintenance during the last hours. You have to do all again.
Q: I’m getting a dialog box when i start the game with verified account?
I bought a Korean account and I’m able to log in without any verification issues. However, I’m getting a strange dialogue box that is giving me some date and time table. Is the server down or is this some kind of limitation to the hours that I’m allowed to play?
A: It is now a maintenance. Should be done in an hour or so.
Q: How to spawn bosses?
A: If you go to the map, there are maps with the boss icon in them. put your mouse over the icon and it will tell you the channels that the bosses are alive in. If you tried to enter a channel with boss alive inside but being blocked, it means the channel is full. You have to wait for it to open again or try one of the higher numbered channels.
MapleStory 2 Abbreviations
- ACC: Accuracy, which can be increased with DEX, among other stats.
- Action Skill: Movements skills such as climbing, flying, etc.
- Active Skill: A skill that deals damage or grants buff effects temporarily.
- Attack Speed: Attack Speed has a base of 100 and determines how quickly you attack.
- Avoid: Increases your chances of avoiding attacks.
- Blackmarket: Regular in-game items with stats are sold in the Blackmarket.
- Critical: Critical attacks, which can be increased by LUK, do significantly higher damage than regular attacks
- Critical Resistance: Reduces damage taken from Critical hits by bosses and in PVP
- DEF: Increases your defense against physical attacks.
- DEX: Dexterity, the main stat for Archers. It is the secondary stat for Rogues
- EP: A separate stat that is used up when avoiding attacks or using things to move (e.g. wall climbing).
- HP: Also known as hit points or health points, when your HP reaches 0 you will die. When you die, a tombstone falls from the sky. If other players destroy this tombstone you can be revived once with a 15% HP debuff for 5 minutes.
- INT: Intelligence, the main stat for Magicians.
- LUK: Luck, the main stat for Rogues. It is the secondary stat for Magicians.
- M.DEF: Increases your defense against magical attacks.
- Magical Resistance: Reduces damage taken from magical attacks. It can be raised by INT.
- Marketplace: Wearable, or ‘NX’ items, are sold in the Marketplace.
- Noob: A noob is a beginner. Be mean and karma will one day return the favor with severe PvP pwnage. Befriend them and you’ll have a friend for life.
- Passive Skill: A skill which provides a permanent increase in stats.
- Physical Resistance: Reduces damage taken from physical attacks in addition to defense. It can be raised by STR and DEX.
- SP: Stamina Points are consumed when using skills and are fixed at 100 for any job or level. Some jobs have skills that restore SP, however, you are unable to regain SP using items.
- Speed: Your movement speed, default is 100 (150 speed is about 1.5x faster).
- STR: Strength, the main stat of Warriors. It is the secondary stats for Archers.
MapleStory2 Notes
Avoid buying user created cosmetics, especially if item use copyrighted material
TL;DR: Don’t buy things that violate the copyright rule.
In the Merit shop, the second tab (디자이너 샵) is user created cosmetics. I have looked through the market, and most (if not all) violate Nexon’s rule stating no copyrighted material or designs can be used on items. I know that BMO backpack looks awesome. But buying items that violate copyright rule is risky, since Nexon may not refund your Merits (because you just endorsed a copyright violation). So if you plan on spending Merit (which is basically cash), use it on Nexon’s shop, which is the first tab named “프리미엄 샵”.

English Patch Error and Solution
If you execute the English “switch.bat” file, an error appeared stating “Cannot gain access to the given folder, file or path…” – It means you will need to provide yourself (as the user) the permission to modify the filename extension. Here is the step by step guide on how to solve this issue:
- Visit the MapleStory2 installation folder
- Right-click on the “data” folder where the switch.bat is residing inside. (Note: Why not the MapleStory2 folder? This is because Windows doesn’t change permission for child folders)
- Click “Properties”
- Select “Security” tab.
- Click “Advanced” button.
- Select the “User” in the Permission Entries. (Note: If you do not see your Windows account username inside, you need to add it here!)
- Click “Edit” button.
- Tick the checkbox “Full Control”, “Modify”, “Read and Execute”, “List folder contents”, “Read” and “Write”.
- Click OK to save changes and close “Permission Entry”.
- Click OK to close “Advanced Security Settings”.
- Click OK to close the Properties window.
- Try to run MapleStory2 application again.

@Odinson: I have not keep track of MapleStory 2 updates for a long time as I stopped playing it after completing all the content in the game.
Does all of this still work in 2020, you know because they shut down GMS2. MS2 was a good game, it was a shame that Nexon America shut it down.

@Ayumilove: Hi, thanks for this patch. Just wanted to point out a few errors shadowstar_network mentioned.
First is the character creation. Characters only have the color blue. Hair, skin, and all other customizables are blue. Alll the colors on the pallet appear as white, but when clicked ends up as a different shade of blue for a few. Even if you were ok with the colors only being blue, the game does not allow you to create the character when selecting name. This is of course fixed when switching back to the korean files.

Second, some of the bosses are invisible. When having to fight the henchman in “Finding a Clue” he is invisible, gives you damage, and cannot be hit. Not all the bosses are this way, but when you have to fight him three times it’s a bit frustrating to switch between the files constantly. Here is another example.

The third error which kind of goes with the first one is everything customizeable you can buy in the nexon shop is blue.

cant find a answer to this anywhere. When I play with the patch my character is blue in color sometimes. Even outfits are blue and the color picker is completely blank but when I play without the patch its all fine I just cant understand anything XD. Also the boss in the “Finding A Clue” quest is invisible :O

Hi, so I have been having issues with using my account of late. It lets me on the home page, I click ‘game start’ and then sends me to a page where I have to input the social security code again. Seems like they don’t want ‘hackers’ or other parties using peoples social code for security purposes. ok i fixed it .. i think overwriting the files for me does not work so what i did was deleting the actual xml files and then extract the zip into Data folder ,, ran it as eu then switched it kr and now its working .. thanks !

Addendum: English patch isn’t doing anything. I’ve tried doing it exactly as prescribed in the video and readme, and in the opposite order just for the sake of completion. No effect.
Can you update the game client files you’ve provided on the google drive somehow? Those three files took me about ten minutes to download, but after starting the launcher for the first time I’ve been patching for over an hour so I don’t think the files you’ve provided are current. This would probably be going a lot faster if I were getting my 10 MB/sec that I usually get. It’s chugging along at 0.5-3 MB/sec. Most likely that’s the result of the files being physically located in Korea, but still.

I don’t know if you can do that, but maybe you can share a tool to decrypt and reencrypt the XML file. With a tool like that we’ll be able to use the KMS2 english patch into the CMS2 client. (If the tool is working with the CMS2 clients :/)

@Matt: You will need to switch from Korean to English patch everytime when you launch the game at the mini window popup. After exiting the game, you will need to switch back from English to Korean, so it can update the Korean data with the new game contents.

Can’t download the new English Patch (Oct 11 2017), my internet is working fine but whenever I download it it says Failed – Network Error on Google Chrome.

@Syryniss: Not normal though. Previously the old quest is working but somehow I think there were some recent changes that made it buggy. I’m not sure whether its the game content that has changed (quest structure description) that prevents the English patch from translating it correctly.

@Eruptable: I have tested just now and the English patch is still working as expected. Try re-extracting the file from zip to replace the one in your MapleStory2 data folder, and repeat the steps as mentioned in the guide.

@AAA: Sorry, I do not understand the issue you are facing. Are you referring to your English Xml.m2d being overriden whenever you “switch” and then click “start” in the website?

Maplestory 2 also just had another patch (9:00am -11:00am GMT+9). Not sure if this is the cause of the issue with the English patch.

Thank you for updating the English patch. However, I still can’t get it to work. After extracting the zip files into /data, the .kr file and .en file appear at the same time both before and after switching. And when only single .kr file and single .en file appear, the game manager rewrites over them at the launch. When switching, I got both (.kr+.kr) and (.en+.en) files appeared and the error “can’t find feature file” happens. Please help and thank you for your time.

@Rak: Both methods work for the English patch 🙂 ~ edit: Using my method, it reduces the burden on his server. Once his server reaches the limit, everyone will not be able to download.

OOPS! It still works! For anyone wondering: you have to redownload the english patch if it isn’t working and overwrite it. The game must’ve changed the files somehow! It still works!

The Chinese MS2 next closed beta(without data deleting) starts on 8/30. But before it starts, you need to enter the lucky draw. If you were in the past chinese closed beta, you get automatic access, otherwise its up to luck.

everytime there is a patch, the eng patch has to be updated, so those having tech issues should try without the eng patch and wait patiently for the eng patch update.

This morning I tried to log in and it went past the nex video right before the server screen. The server screen was no longer visible for me and my screen was black.
Is this just due to maintenance and that screen is on their end. Or do I now have a resolution issue since this patch?

It is far easier to just drag in the translation files and then block updates from Nexon to prevent them from being overwritten.

To start the game, you have to launch it from the website. If it’s installing again, it may be adding a new patch, or the website can’t find your game installation and is reinstalling.

They changed the system on how to choose classes. When you create a new char, you can choose the class from the screen.You can no longer make a beginner class to be recruited, you choose your class from the beginning and it starts off with quests.
Do you know how to get a class in place with the castle? Every time try and talk to the heavy gunner, she doesn’t recruit me and no box shows up with the info. etc. Do I have to do a specific quest or something?
So yesterday I started playing MS2 for the first time. I downloaded the game manager and everything is fine! Now today, I try and start the game, and it is trying to install the manager AGAIN and I don’t understand why I have to wait several hours again just to play!

The game should still be working, though you might have to use korean during merit event. For the main gameplay , you just have to first let the loader complete using the korean files to 100%, and then switch to english (when .kr files show, it is english mode). If it still doesn’t work, then re-download the patch and let the loader run to 100% for the new korean files.

@Slavin: It is working as usual. Please try again by overriding the current English patch from the one in the zip file. Ensure the progress bar reaches 100% with auto-start disabled before you switch to English mode. Otherwise, it will be overriden with Korean data.

For anyone who feels like sometimes the patch is doing odd stuff, every korean thursday, (wednesday in america) they patch the game every week. Ayumilove does a good job deploying patches every week she can, but usually, small patches won’t affect the game too much, and large patches will break the game significantly. For those people that are bald, naked and cannot do anything. The current English patch is not suited for the game. Therefore, until ayumilove posts the next update for the english patch do not play the game with it. New characters will be unable to be played at all due to an event.

I got it to work finally! Even though I did not get an error message, the permissions on the “data” folder had all the check boxes unchecked and that was the issue.

@Elysion: Press F5 to refresh the windows file explorer page and see whether it helps refreshing the file name after running the switch.bat – if it still doesn’t work, try reextracting the files from the zip again. I have tested on my side and its working fine. There are no changes applied to the switch.bat unless the name of the files have been set unexpectedly.

You need to enter a house in Tria right next to the portal that leads into the map you’re in. It will trigger a cutscene then you can enter that house and another cutscene will happen.

Usually when I hit the teleportation arrow, mini window dialog with text “space” appear to make interaction but in this room, every objects doesn’t trigger any mini window dialog.

I’m pretty sure you need to interact with the objects in the house till you find a clue ( a piece of paper or something) and then go to the area which it tells you. If the paper/objects or area doesn’t show, try forfeiting the quest and taking it again.

I’m guessing by xml.en you mean the Xml.m2h / Xml.m2d files
1. Make sure the files are in the Data folder of your game (redownload the files first, incase corruption)
2. Before you start the game, it should have two files with .en endings
3. Next you start the game, uncheck the box, and let it fully load to 100%
4. Then you run switch.bat, and it should have 2 .kr file endings (refresh if there are 4)
5. Now you can start the game, it should be in english.

@Rak: I’ve been trying to complete the level 33 quest by Growler called “Children Complain Friendship” where it requires you to place a “Fish Stand” in your home, but I can’t find it anywhere. It’s not in my inventory and when I search in the home tab nothing pops up. I keep forfeiting it and re-accepting it in the hopes it just glitched, but nothing pops up in my inventory. When I use the dictionary, it says it can be found in the “Theme Decoration” section, but I can’t find it there ;-; I would greatly appreciate any help

to complete New Bait, I believe you need to place a chicken farm(press ‘B’ -> life skills materials) inside your house and use it once. This will give you a chicken feather and should complete that quest

@Jayden Tham: Personally, I would stream a 4K/HD video to slow down the internet connection, thereby slow down the progress bar in the auto-launch window. Not sure if it will work for you though, but you can try it out. The other thing is, you can anticipate where the checkbox button is, and place your mouse cursor there and get ready to click on it. These are the 2 methods I usually use when the auto-launcher loads too fast XD

Currently, MS2 is having some maintenance from 4:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 (GMT+9) = Time in South Korea ~ Once the MS2 server is accessible, I’ll try the English patch again to see if it works. If it doesn’t, then I’ll upload a new patch and comment in the comment section about the new update 🙂

@generalzzz: It’s best to perform quest as it provides more EXP to level up faster. Some quest provides some large amount of meso too.

@Sam: For me, what I did to slow down the internet speed is to download/watch 4K content so the auto-run might slow down by a bit. It works for me though, not sure it will work for you, but you can try this method out.

@ykyk: The official game is downloaded from Nexon. You will need the official game to play MapleStory2. Apply the English patch on to the official game so it can translate the in-game text/description for you to understand the game content better.

@Kristian Magandi: Probably the English data has been overridden with KMS data when you run the game. Try overriding the existing data files with the one from the zip file. Make sure to load the game with Korean data first, once done with the untick the checkbox at the pop up window, switch to English data, then only press the blue button. Once you exit MS2 game, you need to manually switch it back to Korean data again. Otherwise, English data will be overridden. I notice many MS2 players face this same issue.

@KuroYouta: Based from my personal experience with all of the jobs, I feel that Wizard and Heavy Gunner are great for both mobbing and solo bosses. Berserker is hard to grind especially its a melee range aka close combat job.

I was contemplating on making something else other than a Berserker; however, since the guide that was reading on your site; did mention Berserker are like one of the best DPS class.

@Harry: Sorry I do not have any VPN recommendation as I do not use any VPN on myself. If the account requires re-verify, perhaps someone already logged into that account with a different IP address. A new account that has not been used before will not have this issue.
Ayumi, do you have any Vpn for recommendation ? MS2 require me to re-verify my account, but i couldn’t because i bought it online, and the supplier insist of using a vpn.

@Koopa: Then you will need to quickly uncheck the checkbox to prevent it from auto-login into the game! Once it stops there, you can switch from Korean to English patch. Then press blue button to continue into the game.
When I login to the website, I don’t see the white Nexon Game manager window (with the two options). Instead it brings be directly to the black Nexon Game manager window (one with the blue button).
@all: MapleStory2 English Patch has been updated (May 4, 2017)
@KuroYouta: If the account was used at least once, and someone else logged into that account in a different IP, you will receive that message. Another one that I encounter was if the account wasn’t logged for a long time (probably 3-4 months), then they will require you to reauthenticate, otherwise it will not allow you to transfer/drop items.

I had a slight problem… I recently got a KMS Acct, a brand new one, I’d assume…
While I was playing… it booted me out, and said the following…
“Your account is suspected of unauthorized compromised account.. Protection mode.. After your certification, it is possible to use the game as normal”
what do I do ;A; ….

@Angela: You will need the MapleStory2_Install.exe, MapleStory2_Install.z01, MapleStory2_Install.z02 (These 3 files place in the same directory, and their file extension shouldn’t be change to avoid issues with the installation).
@Angela: It’s due to the caching process in the website. It will appear after few minutes once the server kicks in to update the comment section 🙂

I saw Scrolls for that . . . I think I saw them in the cash shop. Look under scrolls, weapons, armor or equipment.
I cannot remember where I saw them, but they do have, oh I forget what kind of scrolls they are called, but they do have them?

Do a search for scrolls and than see what it comes up with. Read each one’s description, and than you should find the one that you need.

How do I change the one file, which is #2 back over to it’s original file? Or should I just d/l it again. I turned it into a movie file and now it has a movie strip over it, so I think I would mess things up if I left it that way?
@Angela: Download all MapleStory 2 installation part (1+2+3) and place them in the same folder. Then run the main installer with the “exe” file-extension.
@Guille994: It’s the same English patch with updated content of new item description whenever MS2 releases new content. It’s still quite okay to understand the description for me though.

It wouldn’t open for me but gave me an option to open it with one of the Movie Viewers that Windows 10 has. So I tried that and it said that it does not support it.
Now, I was just wondering, what do I open parts 1 and 2 of MapleStory2 with?

@Jouu: You do not share EXP in MapleStory2. You just need to hit the monster once to gain full EXP when the monster is defeated by anyone else. Currently upgrading skills does not require Crystal Fragments anymore (No need to use red/blue/green cyrstals). Just need to level up more to get sufficient Skill Points to add into your skill to unlock/level-it-up.

@Ayumilove : I’ve re-installed my OS to Windows 7 64bit and it works fine now. Somehow MS2 was unable to launch Xigncode and Black cipher when It was on Windows 10 64bit. I’ve disabled and even at a stage removed all Antivirus but it still happens. Thanks for the help regardless.

@Classic_steel: Download the English patch data file provided here, and then replace the one in MapleStory2. Then try the game again using the Korean data.
Note: I assume that you did not perform any modifications to the Windows host file. If you did, please revert those changes to its default.

4. When did you first notice this error? (Did the game previously run successfully login and in-game?)

2. Start game and wait for the window to pop up.
3. Quickly uncheck the box that auto-starts game. Switch to English data.
4. Then manually start game from the pop up window.
Note: If it does not show in English ingame, exit the game, extract the data from the zip and perform the steps 1 to 4 again.
Note-2: If you see Xml.m2d.en and Xml.m2h.en means its currently set as English data disabled)

Hi everyone and hi Ayumi! I am having a problem with the English patch.
It worked the first time, but every time I log in and run MS2, the client would start downloading the correct xml files over the English patch.
Is anyone having the same problem or is there a way I could possibly fix it?
I also tried to re-extract the xml files+switch into C:\Nexon\MapleStory2\Data but the client will patch over again. Thanks

Thanks for replying, as you have asked there is nothing in the process tab for the application of MapleStory2 when I try to start the game. This is the first time trying as I have not played it before and also the question regarding my computer specifications it should be more than capable of running the game. As the features are, i7 – 2600 CPU @ 3.40ghz, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 960. Plus the addition of trying to start the game on multiple web browsers such as Chrome, IE and Firefox.

@David: Hi, could you try opening the Task Manager window (right-click taskbar where the Start menu is lcoated, select “Start Task Manager”). Could you see any MapleStory2 application running in the background? Also, what is your computer specification? (CPU~Processor/GPU~graphic card/RAM~memory/Disk Space) This is to identify whether you computer is capable of running MapleStory2. Were you able to run it once successfully or is this your first time running the game?

when I use a Korean phone number it always has an error, why?!! just why?!

@NewPlayer: You’re most welcome. Do take note that the English patch isn’t perfect. Mails/Items that exist in latest patch may not be listed in the inventory when you’re on English patch, but it will be there when switched to Korean patch.

Hello. Quite curious if you will be making a Golden Chest Location guide? I’m an avid fan of doing things for achievements and getting the Golden Chests for every location is one of the things I hope to complete. 🙂
@Jonas: I have used WTFast before for MapleStory and it does reduces the lag and speed up response time quite a bit. I’m not sure if it applies for MapleStory 2 since when I game on it, it’s pretty sufficient to not require WTFast. You could try it to check whether it helps with your FPS/lag. Hope that helps. 🙂

Would like mind start a new post to teach us how to make English patch?
@raindash: Personally for me I do not use any Korean VPN since my account is not shared with others. If the game account that was sold was used before (meaning it contains game characters of MapleStory2, or perhaps the player deleted all his character account and tries to sell it) then it is possible the system detects could detect it is login by a foreign user from different IP address. If you feel safer to use Korean VPN, you can use it to safeguard your account at a cost though. I’m not sure whether Korean VPN requires monthly fee.
I bought account but in the email it said “you’d better use kr vpn to connect”. You said it is not needed unless sharing an account. Is this considered sharing an account or should i ignore the message?
@bun: Try deleting both the kr/en existing data file and re-extract it out from the zip file (2017-02-19). I have tested today and the English translation patch is working fine.

Ive tried overwriting the korean files then, switching to En. bc i need to when then starting game then switching back after its 100 perc. loaded as the video instructed but its just not working. it keeps loading up in korean still and idk what im doing wrong. can u pls be very specific to me about the steps of switching files and overwriting other files and copying and pasting and what not? please be VERY specific if u can. @oink: I have tested it on my side and the English patch still works. Try deleting the English patch that you have installed in your MapleStory2 installation folder and follow the steps carefully as shown in the video. If still does not work, please record a video of the steps you have taken in a video, and send the youtube video link to the contact page, so I can guide you.

@Hangul: When you first time surfed/visited the MapleStory2 Nexon game/landing page, there will be a mini pop-up that request you to install the Nexon Game Manager. Do that and you will get the similar one as shown in the video. If you chose to ignore it, then I’m not sure what else I can help with.
@Soujirou: You will need a Paypal account or Visa Credit Card to get a verified game account. Google Search is your friend 🙂
@Conjuring: From my experiences playing KMS2 for over 2 years, I have not got banned for not using Korean VPN. Do take note that if you playing KMS2 in different areas (e.g. you play in USA, then after few months later, you play in a different area like Canada/Asia, the system will detect something amiss and will request you to re-authenticate again. ) The re-authentication also occurs if you have not logged into the game for more than 3~6 months. It’s up to you though if you feel that it provides you more security or perhaps it could lower the ping/latency, then I highly recommend you to use the VPN method.

You need to collect three different colour stones from the event.
Blue stone – log into the game and then go to the event page check in for ten days to get the golden box for the blue stone. The golden box also gives you an enchantment protect scroll and small chance to get +12 enchantment scroll as well.
Green stone – Get the daily quest from the event NPC. Completed a level 50 dungeon to get a fragment stone. You need ten of it.
Yellow stone – Level up your livestock processing and ore processing to level 4.

@NiDOT, you can try this.
1. Copy the whole MapleStory2 folder into any storage devices such as thumb drive.
2. Ask your friend to download the Nexon game manager from the official Maple Story 2 website.
3. Install Nexon game manager and open it.
4. After you open it, it will automatically start downloading the game.
5. Once you saw some progress let’s say 1% downloading complete, you stop and close it. You don’t have to download the whole game.
6. Now copy and overwrite the whole MapleStory2 folder from your storage devices.
7. Start the game and play.

@NiDOT: If the update does not show any data being downloaded KB/MB (kilobytes/megabytes), it means the download is stuck and will not proceed with update. Remove any English patch files, and try updating the game. Once the game is fully Korean patched, then only use the English patch. The game requires at least 200~500Kb/s to play the game smoothly with very few players in map. Large towns may require more than 500Kb/s to load all data from other players.

I don’t think there will be a new server on Dec 15, at least they never mention about it.
However, some new feature might be implemented, new method for enchantment, new skill point allocation, etc. I really like the climbing on test server which don’t have to press any key and also flying doesn’t consume EP anymore.
And I heard there will be an event on Dec 15 given out +12 weapon(permanent)!!!
@bun: I’m not sure about the MapleStory2 Restart. They mentioned MS2 Restart will be having something on Dec 15, 2016.

@Banky: Probably that you did not install the “Nexon Game Manager”. The MapleStory2 website will prompt you to install it for conveniences unless you ignored it, it won’t ask you to install it.
Excuse me. Why when I’m log in and click “start game” there’s no game manager windows and I couldn’t change the language in to Eng. Isn’t because game manager?
@Nahar: Press F5 to refresh the explorer. If it still remains the same, then delete those files and re-extract the files from zip that you have downloaded.
Whenever I try to switch the .kr files, all 4 of the Xml files turn into .en I have tried everything please help

U just need to go to the event webpage, scroll down until u saw a RESTART, then u just need to click the word below the ‘RESTART’ to register yourself, then you will entitled for 1,500 and other etc.

I also came here looking for more details regarding the RESET event.
From what I’ve gathered, there are four things you need to be completed in order to receive 11,300 merit from the event.
1) Main story quest – 10,000 merits
Redo the whole main quest until you finished [에픽]불안이 지배하는 세상 which is LV50(?) quest I assume? I’m at LV35 at the moment.
2)Party matching – 300 merits
Completed a LV50 dungeon via the new party matching.
3)Gathering/Production – 500 merits
Not sure what needs to achieve in order to get the merit.
4)World map exploration – 500 merits
You need at least 300 points to get the reward. Each map has its own exploration quest now, such as using the telescope gains you 1 point.
I still need clarification from someone who actually can read Korean and has already finished the event missions.

@waiika: Does your Windows Operating System has Korean language installed? If Windows doesn’t have it, then it will not show the Korean words in that pop-up box.

@Simon: If the game account was logon with a very different IP address (e.g. Canada IP, then switched to US IP), then it’s possible that KMS2 request you to re-verify. Was your account logon by someone else from different country? The other one is if the game account was not login into that account for a long time, it will also require you to re-verify the account.
Hey ayumi, i was curious, yesterday i was unable to trade or drop items and once i verified with my email it allowed me to trade and drop again. Then today while i was playing my account went into protection mode and says i need to reverify again… this time its with a korean phone number…. not just email.. is there something i can do? I had this account since april… was working fine till now is there something i can do and something i can do to avoid this happening in the future?
I found out my mistake. I tot I followed exactly what you did. It was my part that I messed up. Thank you so much for the patch and the help! 😀
@WenSheng: Kindly send me a video recording of the steps you have done to login into the game using the English patch to my email at irisheartcpu (at) gmail (dot) com and so I could determine which part that you may have missed or perhaps it could be error on my side with the guide which I can correct.

@WenSheng: The English patch you have in your computer has been overwritten by the KMS2 server or you have not manually switched to the English version. Delete those m2d and m2h. Replace with the ones from the zip file. Switch to Korean data first before start game via Internet Browser. Kindly read the readme.txt guide as provided in the zip file for the details and watch the video for an overview of how its done. It’s not a plug and play as it needs user intervention.

@Josh: Hi, if you open up the minimap, you can find the yellow/golden question mark. This will help give you some hint such as you will need to travel to that map to continue on the quest. If you were to press “TAB” keyboard button to open the minimap, do you find any yellow blinking circle? This will tell you that you will need to either eliminate those enemies in that area or to collect items. What job is your character on? I wonder if its a specific quest for a particular job.

@Yolo: I don’t think you will need VPN if you are playing in one area. If you do switch often, VPN would be useful as it will not require you to re-verify when your account is accessed from different location.
Without using the VPN, is there any chance my account will need to re-verify?

This is kinda related to the English patch. One of the quests I’m on doesn’t explain the step correctly and I don’t understand what i should be doing or looking for. I’ve spent over 2 hours walking around this map trying to find what i believe is meant to be a door but i don’t know and i cant find one. The quest is [Epic] A ray of hope “Make the legend” the step deception is: Journeys into door h. Stowe 69 vols.Go to the area shown in the Stowe Nikon’s heart Search(0/1) Any help would be great 🙂
@XiaoDoDo: Ensure that both Korean and English files are not the same size. If they are, it means the English patch has been overridden by the server with Korean language. You will need to replace that English patch by re-extracting the files out from the zip file that is provided in download link.
Hi Ayumi, but it’s seem like not working on my PC, the game still in korea language, just paste the file which name ”switch”, ”Xml.m2d.kr”, ”Xml.m2h.kr” into Data folder from Maple Story 2 right? and I did press the ”switch” file before click to start the game, I did make sure the file is in ”kr” at the back 🙁

@XiaoDoDo: KMS2 has recently released a new mini update/patch, that may cause the English translation to not work for new items (may not make item visible in inventory/etc). Will need to wait for new English patch to solve these issues.

Hey man, thanks for the patch and video but i seem to have some problems to start the switch file.
My computer tells me i dont have the authority to start the file just by double clicking it( i am using the admin User ) but when i run it as an administrator it just flashed for a split second.
Any ideas?

@Krawlin: Korea MapleStory2 has updated some of the files, therefore English patch will not work with the latest update. The English patch will take awhile to be updated to translate the new update patch from KMS2. In the meantime, you can use the original Korean data as provided in the zip file to continue playing the game!

@Jove: For me, it’s around 7.56GB for MapleStory2 files. The installer is approximately 5GB but it will download additional patch files (event data/music/etc) if it’s not found inside the installer.

@RokuRonin: Currently, there are no news about MapleStory 2 reaching MapleSEA nor Global MapleStory this year.
I think it would be similar to how MapleStory 1 is launched.
MapleStory 1 is first released in Korea (KMS) on April 29th 2003.
MapleStory 1 reaches North America (GMS) on May 11th 2005.
MapleStory 1 reaches South East Asia (MapleSEA) on June 23rd 2005.
Looking at the past history of release date, I estimated that MapleStory 2 will reach other continents which are North America, South East Asia, Europe and Japan in 2 years time:
MapleStory 2 is first released in Korea on July 7th 2015.
MapleStory 2 reaches North America (GMS) on August 18th 2017.
MapleStory 2 reaches South East Asia (MapleSEA) on September 30th 2017.

@ThatGuy: Probably they will but there are no indicators mentioning it will be released for NA as GMS2 within this year. Currently KMS is delivering new patches daily every 6-8am KST (Korean Time). I wonder if GMS has the take to perform that too.
