Yaga the Insatiable Champion Lore

Yaga the Insatiable is as relentless as the plague that oozes from his blighted body. His hunger is for rot and ruin and it can never be sated, ever since a scheming Demonspawn exploited Yaga’s formerly kind and selfless nature during some of the darkest days of the Skinwalker people.

In the Age of Treachery, the Sacred Order stoked the fires of hate against Skinwalkers and the Red Crusade erupted and spread like a virus across the world. Across Anhelt. Skinwalkers were killed or exiled enmasse, along with foreigners, sympathizers, and many other kinds of non-Humans in general. Yaga and his found family of Skinwalker outcasts escaped, thanks to the maritime smugglers of the Lost Isles, who deposited them on the shores of the inhospitable, haunted Stormwind Wastes. Cut off from essential medicines and supplies, malnutrition and disease wracked the group as they tried to make their way north toward the Sorrowlakes, where they had heard that other refugees were gathering. Yaga, a herbalist by trade, did everything he could to alleviate their suffering and treat their symptoms, but had little to work with amid the desolate badlands of the Wastes. In his moments of greatest despair, Yaga cursed the world for its cruel indifference, swearing that no one in all the universe cared for their plight, not even a Demon. But he was in the accursed land of Stormwind, and if he wished even ironically to have a Demon come to aid him, he should not have done so lightly.

One dark night, Yaga was weak from overexertion and most of his comrades lay stricken in their sickbeds. He felt death closing in on them all. It was then a noxious swarm of carrion flies descended before Yaga and gathered into an insect-humanoid form, its voice raspy and oozing. It was Vildrax, the arch-fiend Demonspawn called the Duke of Flies. Vildrax told Yaga that, just as the maggot will eat gangrenous flesh and leave healthy tissue behind, he could provide a similarly apparently disgusting — but effective — remedy. If Yaga swore allegiance to him, he would grant the tribe his restorative symbiotes, but each of those cured would in turn owe fealty to the Duke. To give his people a chance, any at all, Yaga agreed. Vildrax spread a reeking slime upon Yaga’s brow, and anointed his fingers with it, and bade him do the same to his fevered, delirious patients. This Yaga did, and then he too collapsed, wracked by the effects of the Demonspawn’s twisted cure.

After long writhing hours of struggle, the Skinwalkers all awoke in the dawnlight, one by one, their fevers broken, Vildrax gone. Within a day they felt healthy, even strong. Yaga counted it a miracle. On the second day, Yaga and his tribe felt manic, invincible. Something rippled and wriggled under each of the Skinwalkers’ skin, but they paid it no mind. On the third day, Yaga’s and the bodies of his former friends were fully ripened by the horrid spawn of Vildrax, into breeding grounds for his brood of unholy insects. Their minds and senses dulled to the horror of their new affliction by the Duke’s curse, they vaguely recalled their goal of finding a new home.

Like a droning insect drawn by the pheromones of its kind, Yaga and his tribe marched into a portal to Anathraad. Ever since, they have emerged in Teleria at Vildrax’s beck and call, heralded by clouds of flies and leaving behind rot and infestation. Yaga and his fellow Skinwalkers have never forgotten their initial desire to reach the Sorrowlakes, and may yet unleash themselves upon that luckless region…

Have Yaga on Relentless and Righteous gears. The latter gloves and boots. All six stars gears, but not ascended and leveled up to eight. Also have one four stars ring on level eight. Yaga is level 40 and all four stars ascended. He hits between 1.1 million and 1.4 million in hard Clan Boss. That only happened with Ursula the Mourner as a reviver and Demytha as a healer. Other two tankers are Artak and Versulf the Grim. Will keep working on it unless someone has additional recommendations for improvement.

  2. John Story

swapped out the Swift Parry set I had on Yaga for a Toxic set, then did a run on the Demon Lord CB. Set a personal record of nearly 2.5m damage done. Definitely leaving Toxic on Yaga from now on.

  3. OPmaster77

I have been using him in my clan boss team and he has been doing wonders for me with that toxic set on him every hit is a guaranteed poison debuff which is nice.

  4. Fleafii

Should really update the clan boss down from 5 star !
His poisons aren’t even garenteed and the 2 hitter is on 4 turn cd … in noway is he viable for a clan boss team.

Don’t bait new players into wasting resources on this guy…

  5. Terry

Yaga isn’t anythign special in my view. (useful if you have no good poisoner yet like occult brawler or Frozen banshie.
Slower tankier version of Kael, but lacking the Aoe. At least that’s how i see him.

His A3 should hit about 35% harder then Kael a3 if for some reason you booked him.
    Not worth Epic books imo.

    Thanks for the gift,

  7. fr34kyg

Just got him a a daily login reward. I do not have any poison toon yet. Starter is Athel. Not been lucky to get Frozen Banshee. Can Yaga stand-in for FB in CB? Seems like he had similar skills as FB but the books might be a problem.

  8. Shura

Yaga seems like he could outscale Kael with top tier gear, so he should be useful for an F2P player with terrible luck who haven’t pulled a better poisoner/clan boss dps after theyve reached late game.

  9. Vitres

I still don’t haven frozen banshee. Should i change my Kael for Yaga?

  10. Believe in the vachette

I’m strong in my clan boss game (1 key nm) and I have frozen banshee lvl 60.

    I still play Yaga.

It is not an early/mid champion. It is an early/late. Early because the poison will do the difference, late because his damages will do the difference.

  11. Brian Bonner

“no you are not the only one. I’m weak in my clan boss game, and Yaga is literally the only one that can do 1 million damage.”

What gear do you have yaga in to get that dammage?

  12. WileyMan

@Sormyr: Thanks for your answer. I have been working on a new team for the past few weeks, and I am almost done w/Masteries. It will be a speed-tuned NM counter-attack team, with everyone in Lifesteal gear:

    Skullcrusher
    Frozen Banshee
    Erinyes
    Lightsworn
    Exemplar

If two poisoners put up too many debuffs in this team, I will figure out a substitute for FB. I expect Erinyes to be the stronger of the two due to her “Block Buffs” and her “Debuff Extension”. other skills. I still won’t have Decrease Defense, but I will have Weaken, Decrease Attack, Block Buffs, Poison & Poison Sensitivity…all of which can be extended by Erinyes.

I will also have CA, Increase Defense & Revive on the buff side. I am expecting to be able to 3-key NM with this team.

@Noob: Yes, its a good piece of equipment to boost your Accuracy. However, if you have other equipment that can help boost the Accuracy from substats along with Great Hall Masteries, you will not need Accuracy Chestplate unless you are at using him at higher level dungeons.

  14. Noob

Isn’t ACC chest better for yaga?
ACC banner is not easy to get.

    @WileyMan
Bruh, u have to watch a few videos about CB and what is needed.
First, when i’m watching to u’re comp, i can say that u miss a point: Clan boss number of debuff is blocked to 10. U’re actually LARGELY overreacting in poison for this fight. Usually, a good clan boss team (especially with counter attack such as u have with Skullcrusher) needs a single poison dealer.

Considering u’re account, Frozen Banshee is the one u should keep cause she has double 5% poison on her A1, which is the one CA uses.

Now, to survive longer and be more efficient u ABSOLUTELY needs two things in u’re comp:
    – Someone able to put 60% break def on the boss
    – Someone able to put 50% break atk on the boss

Kael has to get out of this team, miscreated either, is not such a good clan boss champion (even if he’s really SHINING in every dungeons), so u can replace those 2 by two champs able to bring u those debuffs.

Do this and u might see the difference. I’m doing 22-23M dmgs on brutal average with almost the same level of account that u have right now.
Finally, when u have some “counter attack” champ, the next way u’re supposed to go is working on “speed tune”, which means working on u’re team speed in order to get sure that each of u’re champs will get only one turn between each boss’s turn. So that counter attack will be at it’s max efficiency and debuffs will be put on the boss on the good timing.

Search on youtube “Hell Hades clan boss series”, it’s like 5 short videos that will learn u MUCH bout clan boss.

  16. James

I’m not at your stage yet. 😀
But I can relate with the Force CB, as I’m pretty weak there. I’ve got Yaga in a Retaliation set and as high accuracy as I can manage. It does apply the 5% poison a little more since it’s on his A1. Relentless might be another option for him, but I’m Relentless-poor so can’t try it out.

I’ve got Gravechill ascended and up to level 40, and she’s not super effective – I don’t have FB, though. Subbing her in for Kael with FB might do better, since Gravechill also has the DEF down and lays on a 5% poison with her A1.

  17. WileyMan

Currently, I can 2-Key Brutal and 5-Key NM as long as he doesn’t go Force. My best CB Team is heavy on Magic, so I am weak to Force. My current Team is:

Frozen Banshee (Lead for the Accuracy Boost), L60, Fully-Booked, Full Masteries
    Kael, L60, Fully-Booked, Full Masteries
Miscreated Monster, L60, Fully-Booked, Full Masteries
    Apothecary, L60, Fully-Booked, Full Masteries
Skullcrusher, L60, Booked enough to get the cooldown on the Counter Attack Buff, Full Masteries

The Outlaw Monk I mentioned below only comes out to play once in a while. I am looking for the next upgrade to my damage, and I do not have an obvious replacement to any of my core team in my Vault. Kael is the only one in LS gear, and I may try LS gear on Frozen Banshee soon. I currently have her in a mix of speed and accuracy. FB & Kael are the lead damage dealers and it can be a toss-up who wins.

I am working on masteries for a Stag Knight that I sub in when CB goes Force & Spirit. Once he is done w/masteries, I will try him in place of MM, but w/o T6, the team performs better w/MM.

I am still thinking about Yaga, another Kael, a re-geared OM, or a Gravechill Killer that is sitting in my vault….Because the current team is topped out without some sort of major gearing changes.

  18. James

@WileyMan – what CB are you attacking with that team? Poisons scale up depending on the level of clan boss, so if you’re attacking the Easy boss, poisons will be less effective (5% poison = 20K damage) than they would be on higher levels (10K more damage per level up to Brutal, where they cap out at 50K through to UNM).

The other thing is while Toxic gear is interesting – and I had it on my OM for a while – it’s not as easily accessible as HP, Accuracy or Speed gear, which all help OM lay on more of his A2 poisons. By putting a set of Toxic gear on, you may be forced into choosing poorer main stats for the artifacts just to complete the set. So if it ends up you’re weakening that A2 for the sake of a couple more 2.5% poisons, you’re not that much further ahead.

And you’ll find if you can generally get more turns out of your team, your damage will increase. Even at Easy, I’ve found the ATK down debuff to be really useful. My teams have gone from getting 10-11 turns to 18-23 turns (on Easy-Hard). If you decrease the boss’ attack and also increase the HP/Defense of your team, then you’re likely to get more turns, too. Higher speed also helps you lap the boss and reduce the downtime of debuffs if your debuffing skills require cooldowns.

  19. WileyMan

Is an un-booked Yaga better than a fully booked Outlaw Monk in doing Clan Boss damage? What about a fully booked Kael compared to an un-booked Yaga?

Right now, my team includes a fully booked OM in Toxic gear and a fully booked Kael in Lifesteal. Kael regularly outperforms OM in my team. I need to boost my CB game and I am not sure what I should try next. I could sub in another Kael or another OM or a Yaga, but I would have to develop whoever I choose.

    Thanks,

  20. Sarah Lane

Clan Boss builds are all HP/Def, speed, and Acc.

  21. Oolak

For CB, the other poison champs like Kael they suggest stacking Def and HP, why not on Yaga too? Wouldnt he last longer for CB and let the poison do more damage?

  22. SethZero

@Joshua Veverka Steelskull has better HP, DEF, a lot more SPD and 2hit A1 that pairs better with Counterattack buff. On top of that he has support skills

  23. illumiae

Is he any good even not booked cuz i still used ch on my cb and im not getting any further than 6m on hard

  24. Voyaging

@Turel97 Toxic set doesn’t boost poison damage, it simply gives you a chance to place a 2.5% poison on attack.

  25. Turel97

” Equipment Set for Dungeon, Campaign, Clan Boss: 1 Toxic Set, 1 Speed Set OR 1 Lifesteal Set, 1 Speed Set ”

why toxic set on him ??
i ask , cause it says that toxic set gives bonus only for poison 2.5% , not 5% .

    am i wrong ?
    cheers !

  26. Joshua Veverka

Why is steelskull considered so much better than yaga in cb damage? I get that steel has a 2 hit 5% poison but they are 35% booked where yaga has a 50% 5% a1 and 75% 2 hit 5% a2. Does the damage really favor steelskull that much where hes a top 10 damage dealer and yaga is never even mentioned?

  27. Harris

@cursedking no you are not the only one. I’m weak in my clan boss game, and Yaga is literally the only one that can do 1 million damage.

  28. CursedKing

I swear i must be the only one that uses Yaga hes great!
