Snorting Thug Storyline

Try as the rulers of Teleria might, it is impossible to enforce the law everywhere and without failure. Just as there will always be those who abandon morality and principles for the sake of gain, so too crime will persist in different forms. Be it thief guilds, bandits and brigands, or even hired assassins, members of all of Teleria’s prominent races can be found on the other side of the law. Due to their bestial nature, Skinwalkers are shunned and denied entry to many large cities. Yet, some authorities tolerate their presence. In most cases, there is little comfort to be found in such acceptance as superstition and fear drive the common folk to greater displays of suspicion and paranoia. It is not uncommon for these Skinwalkers to find themselves with no means to survive apart from a life of crime. Fortunately, their strength and toughness make them ideal candidates to serve as enforcers for various gangs. It was not difficult for a destitute and hungry minotaur to take up the role of a thug. He learned to fight from the moment he could walk, he had the strength of three grown men, and, most importantly, he had no scruples about smashing a few faces to get by. Such simpleminded determination and a talent for violence could not go unnoticed, and the Thug – for that was all anyone ever called him – came to the service of one of Nabruk’s guilders. From there on he spent most of his days guarding his master’s possessions, scaring off rivals, or ‘persuading’ other merchants to accept deals that were less than beneficial. Though indeed a thug by all definitions of the word, this creature does have the potential to rise above his fate and serve something greater. Perhaps the less-than-honest skills he had picked up could put to good use in Teleria’s service.

    @ayumilove:

I have fylja for the turn meter, but my team is just not fast enough for stages 16+ to run Magic keep efficiently – also seems like a general specialist to have against any sort of team that relies on buffs – also as an upgraded option against paragon cheese (sadly i am using conqueror at the moment) – thanks

  2. Ayumilove Post author

@LD: Snorting Thug skills has been updated from the rebalancing patch!

  3. Ayumilove Post author

@Plax_x: The Accuracy should sufficient for Snorting Thug to remove the shield from the Magic Keep boss. You could also use a different strategy to tackle this boss, which is to use Decrease Turn Meter to prevent the boss from taking her turn.

  4. Plax_x

so would 200 accuracy suffice to remove the shield on the passive in the magic keep stage 20??

    I’m having a hard time getting through stage 16 in under 15 minutes and I don’t have the patience – is 200 a simple math (10 X 20) or should I go above ???

    thanks

  5. LD

Needs to be updated with 9/22 rebalancing – gives him an extra “edge” with his kit.

  6. roflcarrot

Snorting Thug in a Toxic set should be incredible for Clan Boss – always strips the Increase ATK buff and guaranteed counter attacks that will apply poison for big damage. The passive makes him a big hitter for CB, especially with warmaster. He would even make an excellent Slow Boi for unkillable teams since his damage scales off HP anyways.
Am I missing something as to why he’s rated so poorly for CB?

  7. Spudgun

Agree fully with Emerett. I haven’t booked him at all, he has pretty poor gear, but my level 50 thug works for me in magic keep stage 20…

  8. Emerett

This character is a game changer in Magic keep for new accounts. If you’re lucky enough to pull him early on and don’t have another way to steal or remove buffs, get him to 50, stack up his accuracy, throw in him crummy relentless gear if you have it (accuracy and perception if you don’t), get his first three support masteries for accuracy and boom – you should now be able to finish the final stages of magic keep easily. Doesn’t even need books to be effective.

  9. Noone

The Farting Cows video should be removed. His ‘review’ features him giving Snorting Thug only 77 ACC effectively disabling all 3 of his buff stripping abilities, putting him in Arena, then complaining he’s useless because he’s not doing anything. His ‘review’ is a useless disservice to both the character and the community.

  10. Diggs the Str8

Anyone else try the Thug in arena with Taunt gear? Seems to have some synergy with his passive if you have enough ACC.

@Dave: If you have 2 or more weak affinity champions like Snorting Thug in the team against Spider’s Den (Spirit Affinity), ensure that Snorting Thug HP is lower than theirs. The Spider AI will attack the one with the weakest affinity, followed by lowest HP or MAX HP. For optimal performance, use 1 Force Affinity (Snorting Thug) and the remaining are Magic Affinity champions to force the spiderlings to attack Snorting Thug.

  12. Dave

Hi, I have been playing for a month and got the thug. I tried the spiderling tank build and they attack different affinity champions, instead of the thug. Not sure why.

  13. Woolf318

Thank u…. i didnt realize ACC was needed for that. Yes using him to steal buffs in magic keep. Thank u for the info.

  14. Ayumilove Post author

@woolf318: Snorting Thug needs Accuracy to steal buff. Otherwise, it will be resisted by the enemies especially the ones with high resist stats such as in Arena, Doom Tower and Faction Wars. If you are mainly using him as a damage dealer, then you can skip Accuracy stat.

  15. woolf318

can someone please explain the need for ACC with him?

  16. HW3

I love the way he can take out Valkyrie in arena by taking the hit-back and shield buffs from her that she keeps producing over and over and over…

  17. thoughtcourier

@ayumilove I’m interested in taking my snorting thug to 60 and your explanation sounds legit. Do you have any videos of him tanking spider?

Right now I’m running skartorsis, but have to bring a rezzer for his bad AI. Hoping thug can be a bit more self sufficient.

  18. Ayumilove Post author

@Cloud: Is your Snorting Thug full booked with Skill Tomes when you are testing him out? The books increases his success rate of stealing those buff from the enemy.

  19. Ayumilove Post author

@puurity: Snorting Thug plays as the Spiderling Tank Bait role in Spider’s Den especially against stronger affinity such as Spider 20 (Spirit Affinity). Since Snorting Thug is Force Affinity, Spiderling in Stage 20 will automatically targets him because it will be easier for them to kill him based on the affinity advantage. However, you can take this to your advantage by building him as high resist tank (+300 Resist for Spider 20) to ignore all the Poison debuff inflicted by the Spiderling. Then, equip Snorting Thug with Lifesteal Set and Warmaster (Tier 6 Offense Mastery). This will allow him to recover HP (Hit Points aka Health) by counterattacking each Spiderling attacks using his passive skill “Counter attacks enemy if they do not have any buff on them if they attack him”. Each counterattack procs Warmaster, which deals damage based on ENEMY MAX HP. The more HP they have, the more damage the Warmaster inflicts and then 30% of the damage will be converted to healing by Lifesteal Set. Pair Snorting Thug with a Support Champion who can provide Speed Buff and some healing in case the Warmaster did not proc in time. Then the remaining Champions can focus on beating the Spider boss down (e.g. Armiger, Coldheart, etc).

    @Ayumilove

He has significantly improved after the patch for sure. The guaranteed 2 buff steal on his A2 has worked wonders and definitely has made up for his lacking A1. I still feel like I need to keep Mystic Hand on the team for 100% coverage, but I haven’t lost a single run of stage 15 since the update where before i was struggling on stage 13 it’s definitely a start.

  21. puurity

why does he have five stars on spider??? I just pulled him and he has shit ratings in game… his abilities seem pretty cool, so I was deciding on getting him stronger, but he just doesn’t seem viable vs. spider… so why five stars?

  22. Perico

Now it’s viable. With 3 stars and level 47 with lifesteal it is viable for campaign. I need to test it in magic keep, but without books it steals buffs easily.
I will build mine with lifesteal and Immortal with attack and support masteries.

  23. Ayumilove Post author

@CONRAD B DRECZKO and @Toroborn: I’ll add the mastery for Snorting Thug as soon as possible. Thanks for the reminder!

  24. Ayumilove Post author

@Cloud: Could you please help try him out again and see if his viable after the Patch 2.20, which has improve his A2 and A3 skills by stealing enemy buffs? I believe with the new skill rework, he would be able to steal buff more frequently from the enemy especially the Magic Keep boss’s shield.

  25. Cloud

If you’re like me and think about using him in magic keep, think again. The A1 steals buffs so infrequently that I ended up subbing him for a mystic hand and 5 star level 50 snorting thug performed worse than 4 star level 40 mystic hand.

I’m sure if you have so many epic books that you can dump 11 epic books into a champ that only has use in magic keep that he might be useful but I cannot wait for the re-balance in september. I tried everything, relentless set, speed sets, counterattack comp, ally attack comp, retaliation set, anything I could to get multiple A1s per turn and was always disappointed.

If you don’t have a mystic hand, just farm a conqueror from the campaign map 1. Even a farmable campaign rare does this guys niche better than he does, embarrassing.

  26. CONRAD B DRECZKO

    no masters guide?

  27. pachunan

Snorting thug or spider when it comes to removing buffs from enemy ?

  28. Toroborn

Can we get masteries guide pls

  29. FaYaWan

Hey guys, just dropped this guy, saw the comments about missing stuff for this one, here is what I would recommend :
Just like Reinbeast (another Skinwalker, but way more popular and strong), his basic attack is the key (Ruckus is kinda bad, too situational) and combines well with his passive (if you remove buffs with Wanton Mugging you have higher chance to counter attack with Dire Defense).

So like Reinbeast I would play Retaliation set + Speed set with HP% on Gauntlets and Chestplate to scale with his attacks, and Speed Boots. It’s basically a tank that debuffs enemy and on my opinion it’s the best way to make him useful, especially in Magic Keep to remove the big shield. You can also switch Speed set for Accuracy set and/or get an Accuracy Chestplate.
Or go for 2 Life sets 1 Speed set if you don’t have any good Retaliation set.

Anyway outside of Magic Keep and Faction Crypt this champ is not that good so I don’t recommend wasting skill tomes, upgrading masteries and rank 6 on this one.
