Shamrock Champion Lore

Some say that luck carries its own curse, and rarely has that idea been more clearly demonstrated than in the being of Shamrock. The early years of his life felt lucky enough to him. He grew up happily in a simple farming hamlet found on the edge of Durham Forest, where he was of great assistance in plowing or logging, and Shamrock was much loved among his people. Through his hard work and happy demeanor, Shamrock was a central figure during the yearly harvest festival, when he was draped in all manner of greenery, particularly the shamrock sprigs he adored.

Shamrock’s idyllic existence came to an end when Dark Elf raiders struck from the depths of Durham. With Shamrock’s assistance, the villagers were able to drive the attackers away, but not before many homes had been burnt and their occupants dragged into the darkness of the forest. The attack changed Shamrock, and brought on a moroseness which not even the harvest festival could lift. He no longer found joy in his simple duties, and when a traveling wizard passed through the hamlet, he agreed to go with him and his party on his quest.

The wizard’s name was Artemos, and he was impressed enough by the strength and size of the Ogryn – as well his expendability — to accept him into his company. Artemos was seeking a fabled cache of gold, said to have been hidden on the edge of Durham Forest by an alchemist. Despairing of ever finding the hidden treasure, and unconcerned that a spell might backfire on an Ogryn, Artemos cast an experimental incantation on Shamrock while he slept, a fortune-charm that he believed would enable him to locate gold wherever it was concealed. Artemos was far from accomplished in the magic arts, and while the spell initially appeared to have gone off without a hitch, in reality it had only been half successful. For while Shamrock did indeed locate the gold, what Artemos had really done was bequeath him with a spell that was half-charm, half-hex. Shamrock could find gold and was blessed with bouts of outrageous luck, but just as surely, a period of terrible misfortune would then befall both him and all around him.

This quickly became apparent with a sequence of events that began with their find. The moment they unearthed the gold, Dark Elves struck at the party from the forest, killing most of them and stealing half the hoard. Later, Artemos was able to make back most of the coinage by winning a number of games of chance with other adventurers in Delanos, only to be arrested on charges of fraud by the city guard. One night the jailer became intoxicated, and his keys slipped between the bars into the cell where Shamrock and Artemos were being held. They were able to escape, but in order to flee the city they were forced to take to the sewers where they almost drowned in muck. And so things continued, until Artemos realized that his magics were to blame for their wildly fluctuating circumstances.

Artemos made an effort to reverse the effects of his spell, but to no avail – Shamrock immediately fell into a vat of ale, where he became delightfully intoxicated at the cost of almost drowning for the second time in as many days. Not knowing what else to do, Artemos simply abandoned the Ogryn.

It wasn’t long before stories about Shamrock spread. Another party of gold-seeking adventurers hired him in exchange for an unlimited supply of drink and their companionship, for though Shamrock loved the strongest brews he could get his hands on, the drink did nothing to ease his longing for his old village friends. The group soon realized that the positive and negative elements of Shamrock’s particular affliction had not been exaggerated after all, as they found themselves on their own path of extremes — traveling through alternating sunshine and thunderstorms or discovering easy shortcuts before enduring river crossings where the bridges kept collapsing. They were struck down by dysentery, then found their spirits renewed during an inexplicably free stay at one of the finest inns in southern Anhelt. At the end of it all, they discovered that the gold Shamrock had tracked down was in fact only a single – albeit very valuable — coin. Arguments over how it was to be divided quickly caused the party to split, with Shamrock wandering off in search of fresh ale.

Despite the unlucky aspect of Shamrock’s fate, there are always those in Teleria who have been struck by gold-fever and are desperate and greedy enough to hire him. For his own part, as long as he’s got a brew in one fist, Shamrock is happy enough, for he knows his luck will always even out in the end.

He is on the list to be reworked 2024, really needs a buff as i don’t find any place to use him. Even apothecary is more usefull than this guy.

  2. Baldwin

@Bill: If debuff requires hitting it requires accuracy. Period. “Place” is not a keyword it does not mean anything, just wording. “Place” distinction is something HH made up and it keeps confusing players.

  3. Aperson

    Just got him today

  4. Another player

Shamrock was the first lego pull for me. After being my main support for most of the early game he semi-retired to the vault. Still made an appearance for ok fw of course.

His kit is not siphi. But does essentially the same, big inc defense inc speed and tm manipulation, with a heal/revive mechanic and top tier aura.

This year he has been removed from vault for hydra, doom tower waves and secret rooms as well as now being built for iron twins. Still unbooked, still lv 50 (In pretty end game regen-immortal gear) His base stats are really solid. 111 base speed and high hp/def.

Definitely a champ I now consider situational, But where i do use him, it is because other champs like Raglin, valkrie, Lydia or mithrala can’t fill the spot. Is he in that tier for general use? Maybe not. Is he a solid all round support? Definitely. Can he help with early-mid game progression? Definitely. Will he have uses and value even through to end game? Again, yes.

Worth building? Depends on your account and what he is for. His main abilities don’t need books and his base stats make him easy to to build.

  5. Sigmandur

    Yeah, he’s just really bad

  6. Bill

Any skills that say ‘place’ and don’t have a % chance to land, do they require ACC?

  7. @Braindead err I mean Sigmandur

Sigmandur, you’re the inevitable conclusion of a society that is being bombarded from all angles by entities competing for their attention. Snap judgments based on first impressions like the horde of soccer moms that think their gut feelings reliability disqualify the cumulative medical knowledge of our species.

Considering you’ve identified yourself clearly as a headline reader id say it’s doubtful you’ll ever return to admit you are braindead, but for anyone else reading this just ignore that objectively incorrect rambling of his.

Yes, if he goes first in arena and you use his A3 you won’t add 15% TM to your team, but you’ve applied 30% decrease speed and reduced their TM by 15%. Both are simply “placed” and not chance to place. No books required like the majority of comparable debuffs that start at 75% chance. Also it’s an ability that only takes 1 book to reduce cooldown.

His A2 is also fantastic. It 100% applies 60% defense buff to all allies and then has a 100% chance to apply 30% speed buff if above 50% hp or 100% chance to apply revive on death if under 50%. All of which are incredibly valuable.

The only non-guaranteed portions are the tertiary effects, yes, tertiary. You’re guaranteed 2 of the large version incredibly powerful buffs, and the third buffs are only 50% chance of applying.

If above 50% and receiving the 30% speed buff (+60% def as well also) there’s a 50% chance to receive the crit buff. Not much to write home about honestly as you cant gear around the ability and anyone who needs 100% crit likely already has it.

If below 50% and receiving the revive on death buff (and obviously the 60% defense buff as well) there’s a 50% chance of receiving the continuous heal buff.

How on earth can you with a straight face say that is bad? He either applies 2 strong debuffs to all enemies or 2 strong buffs to all allies with chance for a 3rd and on top of it his a1 reliability strips/steals buffs and has the strongest accuracy aura in the game

I look forward to your lack of response Sigmandur.

  8. ArcticF0X

Could Shamrock be an excellent champ for Hydra? Has anyone tried him? He is sitting in my vault. AOE Increase/Decrease speed could be invaluable.

  9. Begone!

I have Shamrock for a long time now. He is great in faction wars, and I use him as lead in Magic Keep for his aura and his A1 ability to remove/steal the shield which helps a ton. For everything else, his skill set is too unreliable to work with.

  10. Kobus Pretorius

Why is there no star rating for Shamrock on doom tower, is he not worth a star?

  11. Brandon Hebert

Shamrock was my 1st lego and I use him all over not my best but definitely a solid champ I’m at lol 50 now and he got me here he is on a bunch of my teams.

  12. SkywhaleExpress

@Sigmundur what are you on about? His A2 60% increase defense and +30% speed increase on allies is 100% change. Furthermore, his A2’s revive on death for allies below 50% is 100% as well.

Only the continuous heal is not guaranteed.

Of course the A3 requires accuracy to work on the enemy… but if you’re trying to guarantee you don’t get nuked in Arena, you just need speed so he goes first.

  13. Sigmundur

Shamrock is really bad, if his A2’s 60% increase defence was reliable he’d be ok, but it’s not. meaning he’s shit.
If his A2’s continuous heal was reliable he’s be ok, but it’s not so he’s shit.
basicaly if you made it into two different skills he’d be alot better.
And his A3 only fills allies if enemy’s turn meter is below 50% meaning if he’s first in arena it’ll not be the case.
Basically he’s worse than half decent epics and good/best rares. So not even worth investing legendary Tomes on him, it is a waste.
this means his A2 with a 4t cd is competely useless unbooked, so his only use is for extra remove buff in magic keep.

  14. George the Fox

    @Chronic

You talk about the old version. The new one is definitely Tier A.

  15. Chronic

How can you list him as A rank..? 😀 😀 He is absoluitely laughable and useless crap, definitely one of the few worst legs ever in the game. 5 stars in arena?? LOL!!!! You cant use him anywhere for anything. He is not even situational, he is just totally USELESS. He was my first legend i know what im talking about. lol I cant believe this, please lower his stars by like 2-3 on everything 😀

@Odd_Cow: I have replaced the video with the one that is the buffed version of Shamrock. Thanks!

  17. Odd_Cow

You need an updated video for Shamrock. The one you have posted here is from before the rework. It makes him out to be terrible. I saw a decent video from after the update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZpe7YdIdec

  18. Michael

Why ACC set on CB? None of his rebuffs work on him.

  19. Ayumilove Post author

@Aarma: Thanks for your input. I have removed Shamrock from the Block Debuff skill list.

  20. Aarma

I can see that Shamrock is listed in the list of champions with a Block Debuff skill, which he doesn’t have. Might want to change that 🙂

  21. McK

    #Chikenko

  22. PityTheFool

Shamrock may need to be re-indexed based on his update, he’s not listed as a Revive On Death champion for example.

  23. Kelutral

@Tulio Yeah, meanwhile I lifted Apo to 6* and full mastery. At 6* I got a good a punch at CB 🙂 But my Artifacts still need a lots of work, meh.

  24. Tulio

I have both shamrock and apho with 6* and I prefer to use Apho in CB since he is immune to decrease speed.

  25. Kelutral

Got Shamrock recently (5* right now) and I’m happy to see him now as A Rank.
I like to add him to my Arena crew and maybe to CB crew.

For CB I work right now with Bad-el-Kazar, Tayrel, Juliana and Sepucher Sentinel (all 6*) and Apo as 5*. Apo would be my next to rank up.
Or should I give Shamrock a try instead of Apo?

    Thanks for your answer 🙂

  26. Chikenko

I work hard to clean the campaing in Brutal with Athel & Warpriest…and i got this Shamrock jajaja i want cry…

  27. Mute

Update him since there is a buff to him since the last update

  28. Tokkor

I assume he doesn’t remain an F Rank Champion? This is still not updated.

  29. Ayumilove Post author
