Pyxniel Review
Pyxniel is a Legendary Support Magic affinity champion from the High Elves faction in Raid Shadow Legends. This bewitching champion boasts of having one of the coolest skins in the game. It’s a real shame that when they first released her, they totally botched her up. Why, you ask? Simply because it’s a sheer waste of her beauty to leave her to rot in the vault. Luckily, they heard the player’s lament, and she received a well-deserved buff that reignited interest in her. Alas, it still wasn’t enough to make her as good as they hoped she would be.
Her entrance was marked by a celebratory fusion event in December 2020, right after the Doom Tower was unveiled. Pyxniel was designed to be a direct opponent to Freeze champions and bosses, especially the notorious Tormin the Cold. She boasts of a unique passive where she can take a freeze and apply it to herself. When combined with a two-turn increase defense buff and continuous heals, her kit had promise. Unfortunately, her passive was too conditional to be a success when she was first released.
Thankfully, Pyxniel received much-needed buffs to her A1 and Passive in Patch 4.70, making her a lot more reliable. Although she still needs books to be fully operational, she’s a decent legendary to bring to Sorath in Doom Tower, Ice Golem, or against Freeze in Arena. But wait, there’s more! In Patch 6.30, Pyxniel’s kit received another overhaul, upgrading her passive to become an excellent Tormin counter and equipping her with a 100% AoE Freeze. With this, she’s all set to take on any foe who dares cross her path.
Pyxniel Champion Lore
The very tallest of the Cloudspire Mountains is called Skybreach, and sometimes also known as the Occluded Peak. It towers over its surroundings and extends into the heavens, and its slopes are surrounded by a haze of glittering, wind-blown frost, for which it earned its title. But on rare occasions, the clouds are clear and the winds die down, and when the sun shines upon the peak of Skybreach, there can be glimpsed a dazzlingly reflective pillar, a tower of pure ice that shines blindingly. Therein abides Pyxniel, the Peak’s Gaze, one of the most ancient and powerful sorceresses in the history of Teleria. Above even the clouds themselves, her mystic eye watches for encroaching Darkness.
Centuries ago, during the First Great War between Lumaya and her Arbiter against the dread Darkness of Siroth, Pyxniel was an exalted archmage. She is said to have been friend, sometimes lover, of the heroic Basileus Roanas who was called the Great White Eagle. She defended the Arbiter’s Tower with staunch, bitter resolve against the fiery hordes of Demonspawn. She cut down scores with talons of frost and missiles of sharpened ice, and when the foe turned to flee they found their escape blocked by towering glacial walls. She produced blizzards to obscure the movement of troops and sow confusion in the enemy, following them up with waves of spectacular, lethal ice-darts. The Arbiter herself, watching Pyxniel and her disciples of ice magic, was impressed.
After an era of strife and devastation, the war was won by the forces of Light. However, the worrisome truth was that the Arbiter and her forces had been pushed to nearly the breaking point, and she was in need of new sources of power and new tools to use against the immortal enemy, who she knew would inevitably attempt more invasions of Teleria. Seeing that Pyxniel possessed exceptional mastery of cryomancy that exceeded her own, the Arbiter approached Pyxniel personally and, to the shock of the frost mage, begged a favor: to tutor her in ice magic. Pyxniel was overjoyed and honored to serve the Goddess’ chosen, and agreed. They traveled to the Cloudspire Mountains, a place of bitter cold where they could shake the snows and blast epic gouts of elemental frost without fear of damaging civilization.
There, on the slopes of Skybreach, for months and months the two pushed each other’s talents to new heights. Not only destructive spells of war, but delicate and creative works as well were shared between the mortal and the envoy of Lumaya. The Arbiter learned to weave snow and ice into walls, spikes, pits, and even mechanisms. While Pyxniel slept and ate, the Arbiter relaxed by forming intricate sculptures from the glacial crust, the ice flowing at her command. Then it was back to drilling in martial cryomancy, unleashing frosty blasts and shaping lethal gelid blades, upheaving the snows to induce avalanches, and conjuring elemental servitors to assail a hypothetical enemy. Since Pyxniel was attuned to cold, she was largely immune to its ravages, and so made a perfect sparring partner for the Arbiter. Hillfolk and herdsmen a hundred miles away sometimes glimpsed the flashes of glittering rime and bursts of exploding snow created by their duels, and heard the distant rumble of their spellcraft borne on the freezing winds.
Eventually Pyxniel judged her pupil her equal in frost magic. As a final test and payment for her services, Pyxniel asked the Arbiter to raise a tower of ice, a copy of the Arbiter’s Tower which Pyxniel had defended so faithfully. Relishing the task, the Arbiter lovingly sculpted a gleaming white citadel atop the great mountain of their training. Her mentorship complete, Pyxniel now requested a final boon from the Arbiter. She wished to remain atop her new Tower to watch over the Cloudspire Mountains and even the distant Winterlands at the northern roof of the world. But she felt the pangs of age, and knew that her vigil would someday end in death. The Arbiter blessed the Tower of Skybreach so that Pyxniel would not age while she remained therein. In dire need the Elven mage can go forth to fight the Arbiter’s foes, and spend her precious coin of life, but for as long as she remains in her tower she serves as an eternal sentinel watching for danger on the horizon. Even as the Arbiter’s power has waned, her covenant with Pyxniel the Peak’s Gaze has held true. And should the need ever be dire, the Elven sorceress would gladly join the Arbiter forever in a Shard, just as her beloved Roanas did.

Hey Ayumilove, Pyxniel skills needs to be updated to latest. Which is alot better than her previous, especially being able to remove freeze from her self 100%.
She needs a massive rework and maybe one day we’ll get lucky and Plarium will do that, but for now, she’s just not great. She’s all over the place and seems to fit best, if a bit awkwardly, in faction wars. I’m very happy to have her but I also know I’ll rarely use her except in my growing “Ice Team”.
It seems like her passive doesn’t really do anything if her teammates have sufficient resistance to avoid being frozen
Pyxniel now has 18 tomes, if I’m reading it right…
I like her – a no-brainer in FW, but also in Ice Golem in my opinion. Arena sometimes. The downside is that she really does need books
I am scared to invest more into her than having her all her gear at lvl 12. Ranking her to lvl 60. Masteries past the part where it is a commitment, rather than a trial.
You and Ayumi say she is worth investing in. That’s it.
I got her two weeks ago. She is the 1st legendary I got in this game. The ratings in the game suggest that she’s weak for a legendary but honestly she has served me very well so far. I use her pretty much everywhere, arena, dungeons, campaign.
@Ayumilove: Love the site, been lurking here for a while and your posts and ratings are pretty spot on. My only query is like with this champion, why are her ratings so low in the game but high here? I’ve used her a bit and she is quite good, so i don’t believe the ratings in-game for this champion, but why would she be ranked so low in-game? thanks.
This one is a strange beast.
When you see the ratings she gets in Raid, they are extremely disappointing andf almost didn’t do anything with her.
Fortunately I checked out Ayumilove’s ratings and kept her for Fraction Wars where she boosted my team (only lego on it) and made a big difference.
Only ascended and artifacts + accessories, but still does a great job.
Haven’t used her anywhere else as she is not booked for the extra rise in performance (may later if I have excess books) because she takes so many (18 in total) and not really needed either in my situation
I fused her and like her so far. I am pure F2P so far on day 100 and she was my second legendary. I even put almost all my legendary books into her (just trying to max out A2 but not very lucky).
I use her as arena offense lead against speed teams in gold 4. Warmaiden’s decrease defense now usually only land on 1-2 of my champions due to the massive resistance boost. Also her A3 always freezes at least 1 champion in opponent team because there is a guaranteed 2 hitter on a 4 champ team.
I use her along with rector drath in CB team (don’t have better champions!) and dungeons/doom tower as her A1’s veil means an extra heal with rector’s passive.
What I wish they change to buff her in terms of AI and skills to make her a truly A-rank leggo:
1. she needs to use her A3 in CB fight, much more damage than the A1. right now she prioritizes her A2 and never uses A3 on auto,
2. I wish the veil on the A1 is fixed on the Ally with lowest health rather than random, and it should be a perfect veil with higher chance to land. Right now I find her almost always do it on the ally that moves next immediately so the veil is no use at all in most of the cases unless you have rector on the same team.
I recently summoned this champ in the Sacred Shard X2, January(2021) event. Just going to say, the in-game reviews out of 1,543 reviews? The highest ratings is Arena Offense, Ice Golem and Faction Wars. And they are rated at 2.3. Everything else is rated lower than that.
But! Ayumilove thinks she is a Teir A Legendary. I don’t know if that is with all the books or without. My bet is that one can make her viable as much as possible without booking her. But if you do book her? You commit to booking her all the way. I say this as a F2P. (I am not booking her unless Biden gives me $1,400. And even then… I think I’d still save money subscribing to an Only Fans page instead.)
1.) I wouldn’t dream of using this champ as an Arena Offense. Arena Defense however…. I bet she can be paired in such a way, with other specific champs where she is the bomb with the right gear.
2.) I say focus less on ATK and focus more on Speed and Accuracy AND THEN HP%/Def% The balancing act will be a pain. But just my thoughts.
3.) Don’t bother using her in your CB team. I am currently on nightmare. I don’t recall CB ever freezing my champs… but I dunno. So when you do masteries, I’d stick with the first one on this guide. The one with the Green and Blue skill tree. The only Dungeon I’d use her with is Ice Golem. Don’t know about Doom Tower as of yet. For sure, Faction Wars.
4.) Arena. I only say Defense because my offense is a Solid Speed team. I am aware and comfortable with the fact that in arena gold IV. If I am not going first. I lose and I don’t intend on changing my set up with this champ. However, This champ does 5 random attacks. Each of them has a 30% of freezing enemy champs. So…. Yeah, I think this is my first champ that has a skill with 5 attacks? And with that being. That is half of the hits needed for Fire Knight to break down his shield with ONE champ. So, Pyxniel and Alure? 8 hits out of the 10 that is needed with only 2 out of 5 champs. Just a thought….
So Definitely a Niche Champ. But still Useful if you are like me. My only leggos on my only account after nearly a year is Tyrant, Visix, Kratos, Scyl and now Pyxniel. I through down a little money, but not enough. I still consider myself a F2Per.

You have Pyxniel listed in Resistance Auras under “All”, but when you click on the page, her Aura is listed as Arena
Scratch that. I’m an idiot, just happened to face 2 teams in a row that had the place leech trait as well leading me to believe incorrectly
Fair warning. The “place leech” when debuffing from defensive masteries applies leech on herself to benefit your enemies because she is self targeting with freeze. I wouldn’t recommend that trait
Her passive is stupid. Because Skullcrushers is way better skullcrusher removes any ddebuffs from himself at the start of each turn even stun or sleep or freeze. Pyxiel only removes freeze from herself which is a pretty rare ability
First I wanted to say thank you for all the work you put into this site, it has been a valuable resource for me. Second… how would the deflection set work with her passive, trying to decide if that would be useful
@Jack: I have tested Pyxniel in Arena against Tormin the Cold. Her passive skill “Frostweaver” will activate (based on the success rate) and when its successful, it will steal Freeze debuff from her allies to herself, and that Freeze debuff will not be applied on Pyxniel when she is geared with Immunity Set (Block Debuff buff for 2 turns at the start of each round).
Does anyone know what happens with her abilities if Pyxnial is in immunity gear? Does she “steal” a freeze debuff from an ally, place ir on herself then prevent the freeze because of the immunity set? Would it be worth it to gear her in immunity and frostbite?
@Dingebag: Pyxniel aura was 80 Resistance in All Battles. If you see this image that they have published at https://plarium-multimedia.s3.amazonaws.com/5F09E109-4B7A-4E9C-9974-69948C65156F , it shows that the aura applies to all battles rather than Arena. However, thanks for mentioning the differences you have seen in-game. I’ll update Pyxniel aura accordingly 🙂

I also think you misunderstand the passive, if pyxniel is frozen, when it gets to her turn she has 35% base chance of that freeze debuff disappearing letting her have her turn and attack straight away, so its fairly decent.
It means when her turn starts, she removes freeze and attacks. Similar to skullcrusher.
@Tom Chapman Barros-Wing: I think Frostbite Set will help prevent Freeze debuff placed by enemies directly to Pyxniel but not Freeze debuff stolen from allies. If Frostbite Set is able to prevent Freeze debuff stolen from allies, that would be awesome.
I just realized that Pyxniel passive skill seems a little bit awkward where it mentions 35% chance of removing Freeze debuff at the start of each Pyxniel turn. Crowd control debuffs such as Stun, Freeze, Sleep, Provoke commonly have 1 duration. Hence, its not really a benefiting Pyxniel at all.
What do you think of equipping her in the new Frostbite set (from the Forge)? I think that’s what I’m going to do first off, once I get her. I have a few good pieces of those on hand.
