This mastery setup is optimized for Psylar equipped with Stun Set. It increases the chances of her inflicting the Stun debuff from the Stun Set, which is useful for crowd controlling tanky enemies who has high Resist stats, HP and Defense or preventing dangerous enemies who can nuke your team.

I pulled her today, and the only thing I can think is :wow, what a pair of legs does she have!

  2. scott

kael, psylar and who elas good to match with them 2..???

  3. Ralph Hope

@Animkee that kinda depends – you really want psylar going before your enemies, but you don’t need a 2:1 ratio or anything like that — you just need to get that AOE slow right at the start. Even DT waves don’t move all that fast. After you’ve got enough speed to go first, extra speed is a bit pointless. Mine runs at about 220 in a stun set and thats quick enough for DT hard.

  4. Animkee

Is having more speed (2x Speed & 1x perception) more beneficial than having the stun (stun & perception) or (stun & speed)???

  5. Svraka

i love her! easy to get speed over 200, makeing her 1st in battle, dropping speed and turn meter, enshureing your other champs can go before enemy.

just dont make mistake like i did, putting her in swift parry, with huge crit and crit dmg as her multipliers are $hi*

  6. Ralph Hope

@Gammelnok I don’t see where it’s being claimed she needs ac for stun…?

  7. Gammelnok

Uhm. Havent i read somewhere that set effects do not need acc, but abilities do? If so why top of the acc for stun? I can agree on acc for the ability debuffs but not the stun. Or am i wrong?

  8. ArcticF0X

@M3atpuppet With a Stun Set and >200 speed (which is required setup to get the best from Psylar) she is excellent in Spider. Speed down and turn meter reduction on boss and spiderlings plus stuns on Spiderlings enables you to stay in front and greatly reduce incoming pain.

  9. M3atpuppet

Can anyone vouch for how good she is in Spider??

  10. Kemosabe-TBC

No, all her skills are great and all aoe. The A1 is the least useful. The A3 is her best skill, amazing for arena and everywhere really. The A2 is also great for everything. Decrease acc is much more powerful than people initially thought

  11. Calcaneus

It is mainly due to her A1 that she is now considered S-tier right? So Stun set plus A1 with High atk, c-rate, c-dmg, speed and especially accuracy. Oh well, anyone that can progress me furthur in Doom Tower is a win in my book.

  12. Calcaneus

Ayumilove grants a lot more love to this champ than the in-game rating system.

  13. ArcticF0X

Moved from B-tier to S-tier! Well done!

  14. Ralph Hope

Are we sure about the rating on DT nether spider? Having someone with an AOE A1 seems like bad news with 4 spiderlings that head the boss for 10% each when hit, and place unblockable, irresistible poisons…?

  15. Azswer

@Hans Elf: Ah… freeze set apply debuff on attacker, not a target. So it is useless, since you most likely do not want her to be attacked.

  16. Sariander

I’ve been leveling her with daze/speed sets since I don’t have a full stun set available. At least for campaign/mino farming it seems to work really well. If nothing else it helps to further reduce enemy attacks and incoming damage.

  17. Azswer

@Hans Elf: Freezing is viable options, but this champion does not benefit from frozen enemies over stunned ones.
Even though Frost set has tad bit higher chance to apply Freeze debuff it suffers from frozen enemies receiving 25% less damage.
Alternatively you could look at Freeze as Crowd Control in exchange for small decrease attack on your whole team against specific target.

  18. Hans Elf

Damage aside, would a freeze set do the trick on Psylar as well as the Stun? My Freeze artifacts are just that much better.

  19. woolf318

i would also like to hear thoughts on @wicked walrus s’ question. I need help in spider also. I need to beat stage 14.

  20. Hodor!

Got my psylar in a stun set and a perception set and going down def and support mastery trees.
I’m trying to figure out if it is worth taking lore of steel mastery instead of cycle of magic (support) or delay death (def) if i only have one basic set equipped in addition to my stun set. The tiny boost to accuracy and speed from the one perception set seems less beneficial than the damage mitigation from delay death or the cooldown reducing potential of cycle of magic. Thoughts?

  21. ArcticF0X

I think B-tier is too low for her and really does her a dis-service. As void affinity with TM control and Dec Accuracy, she is useful across all dungeons and content. She makes clearing dungeon waves easy and can prevent enemies even from getting a turn. With stun set she is OP. If your team has decent resistance she can really minimise incoming debuffs. Damage isn’t too bad either. Huge support and CC champion, maybe not quite S-Tier but definitely an A? I built her after watching HellHades video about her and he is not wrong. She’s really damn good across all settings.

  22. Wicked Walrus

I am going to build Psylar exclusively for the Spider’s Den. Currently, she’s rank 5, lvl 50. Stun seems helpful to reduce spider bites but I really need to do more damage to the little beasties. Right now, I auto stage 10 but can beat stage 12. After I level her to 60, I hope to do much better. Should I focus my masteries on Support and Attack given the Spider emphasis?

  23. Ayumilove Post author

@jazzanovac: Speed Set is a good Artifact Set for Psylar in Arena. Get her to be super speedy, so she can apply her debuffs on enemies before they can interupt your team sequence.

  24. jazzanovac

What should we put on her if we don’t have the Stun Set? Any suggestions please?

  25. Yannick Lanthier

She is at least an A tier champion. She is a bit like Bellower, being that her kit hit all enemies and has great debuffs (a bit like Pedma for the decrease acc and she has bar manipulation). Stun set is beneficial on her, like Bollower.

  26. Shaaw

I’m not sure why you’ve got her ranked so low in FK and the keeps. I’ve got mine in speed/stun sets, and she basically controls the waves so they never get a turn. On FK, she only hits once, but she does slow him with the big slow debuff. Not every team member needs to have multi-hit A1s. As for keeps/mino, she’s Void, gimps the waves, gimps the boss adds, and allows you so much more time on the bosses to take them down. I’d have her min 4 stars in every keep and dungeon except maybe 3 stars in FK and 5 stars in Dragon. The 5 stars is because whole her TM control doesn’t work on the boss, her big ACC debuff allows easy resisting of the decrease defense from waves and easy resisting of the numerous debuffs (stuns, poisons, and -50% atk) that the dragon tries to place. She makes the dragon’s battle mechanics challenges almost a trivial thing.

  27. Teacup

Psylar using stun set with 218 ACC, for her A3 skill, not sure if it’s a bug, sometimes the screen says decreased turn meter, but the boss’s turn meter did not move.

  28. Eccum

@Ayumilove: Oh sorry right! Totally overlooked that.

  29. Ayumilove Post author

@Eccum: Fearsome Presence (Tier 6 Defense Mastery) increases the success rate of Provoke, Stun, Freeze whereas Sniper Mastery (Tier 5 Support Mastery) increases the success rate of applying debuff that are not crowd-control debuff.

  30. Eccum

Work Sniper and Fearsome Presence together? Their text is really similar. Do they give 10% together?

  31. Mikey T

Paul Kearns, agreed. Yet it seems everybody wants to put her in a stun set. You definitely don’t want to go all the way down in defense to Fearsome Presence if she’s not in a stun set. Mine is geared in speed, accuracy and attack sets. I’ll opt for Eagle Eye in support over Fearsome Presence as my final mastery.

Without a stun set, I don’t think the build needs too much tweaking however. You still want to take her down the defense and support trees because she’s definitely not there to deal damage. You want her to survive and keep the enemy’s turn meters under control.

  32. Paul Kearns

It’s important to note that these masteries are terrible unless she’s in a stun set

  33. saloufen

Just saw that inc dmg removes sleep, so question solved 😛

  34. saloufen

Why not sleep set instead of stun? Sleep set is 25% instead of stun which is 18% and works with harvest despair too.

  35. paul medcalf

    BASIC SETS
Life (2) – +15% HP. One of the simplest Artifact Sets, each completed Life Set provides the wearer with 15% extra HP on top of their Base Stats. Any Champion can benefit from extra HP, but keep an eye out for Champions that benefit specifically from more HP, such as those whose Skills are based on the Champion’s MAX HP. Once you obtained Immortal Set from Clan Boss raid, it can be used to replace Life Set as it provides HP +15% and Heals by 3% every turn.
Offense (2) – +15% ATK. Useful from early game to end-game, any Champions that focus on dealing damage will benefit from an Offense Set. However, some non-standard Champions may also benefit from Offense Sets, such as hybrid Champions who heal based on their ATK. Once you obtained Cruel Set from Clan Boss raid, it can be used to replace Offense Set as it provides ATK +15% and Ignores 5% of enemy DEF.
Defense (2) – +15% DEF. Primarily used to make a Champion harder to kill, a Defense Set is also incredibly strong on damage dealers whose Skills deal more damage based on their DEF.
Critical Rate (2) – +12% C. RATE. Almost universally useful, this Set is particularly strong on damage dealers, and those Champions that fight against high-HP targets, such as Bosses. It’s also a useful Set for those Champions whose Skills add extra effects upon landing as critical hits.
Accuracy (2) – +40 ACC. Accuracy is one of the most important Stats in the game for dealing with tricky Champions and Bosses. Equip your support Champions or debuffers with an Accuracy set to make sure they land their debuffs when it matters most.
Speed (2) – +12% SPD. The higher your Champion’s Speed Stat, the quicker their turn Meter fills up. Champions with the highest Speed Stat also get the first turn in battle. Getting the first turn in battle is often the deciding factor in who wins, especially when it comes to the Arena. Going first means a Champion can debuff the enemy, buff their own team, or even take out an enemy threat entirely. Combine the importance of getting first turn with the fact that some Champions have Skills that benefit directly from extra SPD, and it’s easy to see why SPD sets are one of the most prevalent and important sets around.
Resistance (2) – +40 RESIST. Particularly useful for Champions who need to avoid debuffs at all costs, such as your primary healer, cleanser, or debuffer. A Resistance Set is always a good secondary Set to complement a main Set.
Crit Damage (2) – +20% C. DMG. When your damage dealers have a consistent Critical Rate, it’s time to start stacking on extra Critical Damage to increase their total damage output. It’s also a good choice for Champions whose Skills are guaranteed to crit.

  36. paul medcalf

Lore of Steel: Increases the Set Bonuses of Basic Artifact Sets by 15%. This increase is multiplicative, not additive. The bonus is only applicable to Set effect that applies boost to your Champion’s stat. For example, if you equipped your Champion with 1 Divine Speed Set that grants 12% Speed Bonus and 15% Shield of Champion’s MAX HP, the Lore of Steel 15% is applied to the 12% Speed Bonus only which is equivalent to 12 x 1.15 = 13.8% but Shield will remain as 15%. This restriction is also applied to other special sets such as Freeze, Stun, Retaliation, etc which Lore of Steel will not boost its success rate for it to occur more frequently.

  37. Jeremiah

The wording for Lore of Steel mastery is unclear, however tested and it DOES improve both speed (12%) and crit rate (12%) sets.

  38. Jesper Nielsen

She’s totally underrated in potion dungeons. It’s a big help in all of them to slow down the bosses

  39. Douglas Darling

Lure of Steel does not improve speed gear because Lord of Steel only affects gear wish a plus 15% to stats not 12% gear

  40. Touhou-kun

I used her everywhere beside CB, she is reliable in every aspect, especially in arena, I’m so sick of speed tune team so I will use psylar to destroy them instead

  41. Touhou-kun

Psylar really reliable to control the trash wave using her A3 than Rhazin, depsite it’s only reduce 40% turn meter but she is void affinity so the only thing she need is ACC
If geared right, she is a very good option to carry your team to the last stage of every dungeon, if your champ can’t take a hit, she will always disrupt them until your team kill the trash wave to the final boss, she not useful toward dragon tho
If you happen to got 2 of them, you are very lucky

  42. WileyMan

Roscoe: Frost Gear does not work like Stun. Frost Gear works in reverse, as in it has a chance to freeze the Champion who attacks you.

  43. Roscoe

If I don’t have good stun gear would freeze gear be a good substitute?

  44. Haldir

@Mieleton That’s actually incorrect, Harvest Despair works fine with Stun debuffs placed by artifacts. Source: my Psylar can place Leech debuffs after choosing that mastery.

  45. Mieleton

Harvest Despair is useless master, as this champ cannot place Sleep / Stun / Freeze, and that mastery does not work from artifacts apparently…. cost me the free reset this information 🙂
