Jareg Overview

In the fantastical realm where pixels clash and magic reigns, Jareg, a Magic affinity Epic champion from the Lizardmen’s marshes in Raid Shadow Legends, stands out not just for his martial prowess but for his ability to infuse every battle with humor. Esteemed for his exceptional talent in diminishing enemy strength, he pairs with a stalwart ally, turning their duo into a beacon of strategic genius and comedic relief. Together, they outshine legendary pairs, blending defense, offense, and perfectly timed jests like, “Why did the enemy cross the battlefield? To face my unmatched attack reduction!” Beyond the fierce encounters with the Clan Boss, Jareg’s valor and wit shine equally bright against the Spider’s minions, where his protective skills and lighthearted banter, “Because I’m the soul of the party!” ensure that his legacy is remembered for both his heroic deeds and the laughter he spreads amidst the fray.

Jareg Purpose

  • Jareg is one of the champion who could apply Decrease Attack debuff to a single target enemy to reduce their damage output. This lets your team to survive against fatal nuke attack! It’s one of the most sought after debuff for Clan Boss to prevent enemy from destroying your team in 1 hit!
  • Jareg excels as a tank in protecting allies in battle. He has a skill called “Pack Leader”, which applies Ally Protection buff and Increase Defense buff to all of his allies. Increase Defense buff reduces the incoming damage received by the allies before the damage is transfered to Jareg via Ally Protection, allowing squishy champions to be able to survive heavy AoE/single-target nuke damage especially battling aginst Clan Boss!
  • Jareg has a special passive skill called “Sheltering Scales” that applies Continuous Heal buff on any allies whenever they loses 20% of their MAX HP! This is really useful in situations where allies need to recover quickly after receiving a lethal attack from enemies such as Faction War boss that attacks champions while ignoring all of Champion’s defense! If your team does not have any champion who has Revive ability, then having Jareg is a life saver especially in Faction Wars!
  • Jareg also provides an all-battle HP aura, enabling him to be useful in all areas of the game to boost champions HP to increase their survivability in battle.

Jareg Reference

Jareg All-Rounder Build

The artifacts equipped on Jareg are optimised for Arena, Campaign, Dungeons, Faction Wars and Doom Tower content. Immortal Set is used to enable Jareg to replenish his health that was lost from mitigating allies damage via Ally Protection. Perception Set is used to boost Jareg’s accuracy stat, so he could apply his Decrease Attack debuff to reduce the enemy damage output. The stats prioritized for this build is HP, DEF, Speed and Accuracy. He needs a lot of HP to be able to tank the damage without getting knock-out whenever the enemy perform AoE nuke attacks while the Ally Protection buff is applied on his allies. If you are planning to use him for Clan Boss, swap the Immortal Set with Lifesteal Set to allow him to quickly replenish his health from Warmaster attacks against bosses!

Jareg Storyline

The Lizardmen society is hardly homogenous. While some tribes live nearly as humans and elves of old did, building settlements and crafting tools, others are little more than intelligence predators that live and hunt in packs. Jareg is the leader of one such “family”, having guided it for many decades. He may not be a peerless strategist or a weaponmaster, but there are two qualities forged by the hardships he had to endure that are invaluable – tenacity and instinct. As pack leader, it is Jareg’s duty to defend his kin from whatever danger they might face as well as lead them in hunts and battle for more territory. Over decades of constant strife, he learned to protect those who depend on him, even if it means placing himself in harm’s way. And, surprisingly, his knowledge of herms and their properties allows Jareg to provide basic but efficient relief to wounds and injuries that his allies might suffer.

No longer has a hp aura. There go my plans for having him lead my FW and CB teams.

  2. Frans Marx

@Dave yes, they do work with Continuous heals as far as I know.

  3. Dave

I don’t understand the support mastery choices.
The left hand side: Lay On Hands -> Healing Saviour ->Merciful Aid.
Jareg doesn’t actually heal anyone, he hands outs buffs that heal. Do these masteries actually work with continuous heal buffs?

  4. Robert Sparrock

I agree with the last post that you provide a very useful website and I appreciate the work you do. For example: I’m struggling with Lizard Faction Wars and was able to use your site to quickly figure out that Jareg is one of only three Lizardmen that has an HP auru that works in FW. (with Muckstalker (rare) 22% HP and Ba Sath (lego from Doom Tower than almost nobody has). Given the excellent info on FW boss also on your site I realized that both Jareg and Muckstalker are excellent choices for FW Aura since the level 21 boss ignores defense and that the other lizardmen who have def aura ineffective for the level 21 bosses attacks. Given that, you might consider increase Muckstalkers FW rating but also highlighting the importance of Jareg Aura for FW.

I have to say how much I appreciate your guides.

You put a lot of work into giving this information for free and it would be great if more people showed appreciation for the time you put into these guides.

    Thank you.

  6. AltGamer

if i go for the defense tree instead what should i go for my current team is
    Bad el, Rhazin,Jareg,Vergis,and Occult Bralwer
im switch veris soon with ninja when my jareg is with full mastiers vergis is maxed and books jareg is fully booked also

  7. saloufen

A leech team mainly helps take out lifesteal gear, not masteries, for example going into stalwart. Even on leech, warmaster is needed although.

  8. TheTodmeister

@spyclone You’re not taking Warmaster for the damage dealt to CB. You’re taking Warmaster to heal via the Lifesteal set. If you don’t take Warmaster, there’s no way that Jareg, geared for Clan Boss, will ever sufficiently heal himself.

If you’re building a Leech team, and don’t need Lifesteal, then by all means, you can shift masteries, likely even into the Defense tree rather than Offense.

  9. Spyclone

Just a an idea but is Warmaster no useful for Jareg ? He has only 1 offensive skill, so the 4% Boss damage can proc only once. I believe Timely Intervention would be more useful in his case. Any thoughts ?

  10. Calaise

For CB (only) I would rather go for charged focus over shield breaker.

  11. Archnawan

Should you use two of the guys in Faction wars or just use one to book the other?

    Thanks

  12. James

Do note that ever since the latest patch (with Forge, etc.), Jareg’s A1, fully booked in my case, procs the Decrease Atk debuff once every 5 or 6 attacks, as if the additional % boost from the tomes is not applied. He behaves like that consistently, in every CB fight. I don’t have another Decrease Atk debuffer, so even in Easy CB, it often come to a point where Decrease Atk expires on the CB, because Jareg has failed to renew it 3 times, and I might have to survive one or even two turns of CB attacks without the debuff. If it happens after 15th turn, I pretty much lose (can usually last to 27-30 turns in Easy CB).
It’s frustrating, since before it worked much more consistently.
I tried removing his artifacts and re-equipping them, even put him into vault and back out, but this erratic behavior remains.
I don’t know it it’s a bug or an intended nerf on Plarium’s part, but he’s no longer as viable as he used to be.

  13. Tom Chapman Barros-Wing

Anyone think a Reflex set would be a good choice for Jareg for CB? I mean, I could pretty much put anything I want on him (because I’m patient enough to farm), but that’s what I did way back when I got him like a year ago.

Only recently started giving him attention, and I’m not sure which way to go. Mainly a CB champion for me, with some Faction Wars help as a very secondary role (it’s one of my worst factions, so meh–bonus).

  14. Ctina

Correction: Since it’ll cast Pack Leader every 4th turn, the correct number are 76.4% for Sniper and 76.3% for Master Hexer. The number go up to 97.1% and 96.6% for a counter attack team. So Sniper is marginally better.

I got those numbers by running a simulation over millions of turns.

  15. Ctina

@CaptOli That’s not how it works. Those debuff overlap, a lot. With the right calculation, Sniper provides 87.8% debuff uptime, whereas Master Hexer provides 86.9%

@tpen We choose attack mastery because, for CB Warmaster (+ lifesteal) is much more valuable than entire defensive tree.

  16. Poseidon

Hi everyone! I have a CB conter atack team, but I’m struggling to get a decent healer. I’m on Nightmare CB.

My current team is: Tayrel (L), skullcrusher, Rhazin, Occult Brawler and Apothecary (I know, I’m aware he is not suitable for CA teams :)) First 4 champs with life steal set.

I want to replace apothecary and I’m not sure who would be better.

Theese are the champs I have and think could work there: Thenasil, Gurptuk Mossbeard, JAREG and Romero.

I also have Arbiter, but she’s set for arena. I tested her just to see the team survability and it didn’t change compared to Apothecary. Also Arbiter only heals teammates under 50% hp, and I want something more than that.

So I apreciate your advices and tips before spend time and resources on masteries and books on those champs. Thanks everyone

  17. tpen

    @MaxBT

this is why i wonder too

    why attack mastery

but i follow him anyway cuz all my clan said this site has the best guide

  18. MaxBT

Jareg mastery is wrong, he is not damage dealer and would never be, beside he would bear 50% damage for allies, his mastery should focus on defense and support.

  19. CaptOli

Master Hexer would be better for Jareg than Sniper.

comparing how many turns of ATK down debuff we get out of 100 A1

    Sniper = 100 A1 * (60% chance of applying the debuff once fully booked + 5% Sniper) = 65 debuff x2 turns each = 130 turns of ATK DOWN every 100 A1

    Master Hexer = 100 A1 * (60% chance of applying the debuff once fully booked) = 60 debuffs. 18 x 3 turns (60*0.3) + 42 x 2 turns (60*0.7) = 138 turns of ATK DOWN every 100 A1

result: you get 8 turns of ATK DOWN debuff every 100 A1 with Master Hexer instead of Sniper.

  20. Ledriel

    By the way,
If you are farming 6* pieces, it may be a good option to equip ring and amulet with ATK instead of flat DEF|HP.
As long as you have reached the milestones for DEF and HP, the flat ATK will benefit him more than the other two, due to the fact that his base ATK is 35% less than his DEF.
Even though the champion is HP type, his skill is ATK based.
Of course, that applies as long as he isn’t your first champion to go down.

  21. Ayumilove Post author

@Daro: Weapon is always flat stat ATK (Attack) stats. Primary stat ATK% is on either Gloves, Chestplate and Boots.

  22. Boz

I’ve only ever seen Atk% recommended here other than for weapons which have a flat Atk stat as a main.

  23. Daro

Most of time i see you prefer direct Atk not Atk %. In game people say % . Couldn you explain why it iş better to have direct instead of % ?

  24. Ayumilove Post author

@Seruvim: Preferably Defense% stats. However, if you do not have any DEF% equipment, the next best is HP%. Assuming you do not have ACC banner, you can equip an ACC chestplate instead but the banner needs to be the opposite (e.g. DEF/HP). You can also balance him out, which means have HP% on Gloves, and DEF% on Chestplate.

  25. Seruvim

Does the recommendation for chest and gloves saying (def%/hp%) mean both are acceptable but def% is best? Or does it mean one should be def% and the other should be hp%?

  26. hcd

You don’t want lasting gifts for CB if you’re speed tuning. I used this guide and the RNG involved in lasting gifts can throw your rotation off since the CB will choose to stun the target with fewest buffs on them at the time.

  27. MarkDelles

Exalt in death is IMO even more useless, than Charged Focus

  28. Marjo

Why is attack better, than defence tree? Also, if I have Valkyrie, should I also keep him as a second support for CB? And why is he not that great for Dungeons?

  29. Ayumilove Post author

@Nero: I would go with both of them for Ultra Nightmare Clan Boss if you do not have Counter Attack champion. Jareg will improve your overall team survivability with Decrease Attack (to reduce Clan Boss damage), Increase Defense (increases team survivability) and Continous Heal (to heal allies as a backup plan in case their Warmaster did not proc for the Lifesteal Set to heal them completely). Apothecary boost your team speed so your team can always go first to attack, and he heals the champion in your team who gets Stunned by the Clan Boss approximately 75% HP.

  30. Ayumilove Post author

@Trooper1980: Sure, you can use Master Hexer instead of Sniper to increase 1 turn at the success rate of 30%. I would recommend going for Sniper to have higher chance to inflict the debuff.

  31. Trooper1980

hello ayumilove, how are you? What do you think of exchanging Sniper for Master Hexer?

  32. Nero

Would you recommand Jareg or Apothecary for Clanboss??… Both have their strengths :/?… Who is better for Ultra nightmare?

  33. Cruplex

If you’re all about that “Auto” gameplay, don’t go Focusing Lens, it doesn’t work since he always prioritizes upkeep on the ally prot.

  34. Ryan

Fnord, if you use this champ in ClanBoss you’d want the warmaster proc just to edge out some damage

  35. fnōrd

I can sort of see why you would use the Attack mastery tree for Jareg, but the Defense tree seems much more able to complement and amplify his main strength as a huge HP bank or battery. Maybe you could post some rationale about it?
