Ironclad Review

Ironclad is a Rare Force affinity champion from the Orcs faction in Raid Shadow Legends. He exhibits a unique ability that positions him as an exceptionally potent damage dealer when placed in the appropriate configuration. Moreover, Ironclad’s passive skill enables him to inflict damage through overhealing. To optimize his performance, it is recommended to construct Ironclad as a nuker, emphasizing high critical hit rate and crit damage. Additionally, pairing him with formidable healers in the game, such as Apothecary or Sethalia, allows their healing abilities to deal damage to all adversaries. Furthermore, Ironclad can also prove formidable when equipped with a stun set and paired with a healer possessing passive skills.

    I recommend this video:
    https://youtu.be/WyNvUKLHZZs

It’s Ash, and he has a great way build this champ to be good in Arena as well as other areas.

  2. Ijon Tichy

This guy helped me clear the Faction Crypt all the way to stage 20! I have him at level 50, equipped with Stun and Immortal Set, just like in the video of SecondStar Right. Not build for damage, just high HP (e.g. HP% gloves), so he will not be targeted and therefore gain surplus heal for crowd control. His main ability is his passive and will stun enemies quite a bit. I do not have enough accuracy from skills on either champion for stage 20, but the stun set triggers without accuracy. If i would put masteries on him and had him a 6 stars I would go for Fearsome Presence to increase the chance of a stun.

I feel that Torturehelm will work well on a team with Ironclad and Nogdar.

  4. TrueLimm

I have an odd question about how his passive interacts with Continuous heals, namely if he has multiple heals on him, does it activate for each one or just once when he gets his turn.
Second, does his passive proc Giantslayer/Warmaster passives?

  5. Ayumilove Post author

@Perico: Iron Clad passive only triggers once and it will be put on skill cooldown and it will be reset once he takes his turn again. His passive skill will activate whenever he receives surplus healing. If the damage dealt is over the amount of healing, then Iron Clad passive skill will not trigger.

  6. Perico

I have 4 Vogoths. I am waiting to get an Ironclad to test it on CB and see if his passive triggers when CB hits with his AOE all of the team.
Let’s see if I’m right or not.

  7. fenrisdawolfe

regeneration plus immortal and then 1 healer on the team keeps him pretty topped off and great survivability.

  8. Ayumilove Post author

@PensiveWolf: If you can have a champion who heals based on HP%, then it would be much beneficial to IronClad with high amount of HP (70~100K) with low speed. Otherwise, if the healing is based on damage, then it would be best to have him in lower HP for it to work better.

  9. PensiveWolf

Would his passive work well with group heals or only direct single target heal?

I want to pair 2 Ironclads with 100% crit rate and as much crit dam and HP% as I can get them with some ok speed with my Minaya for her group heal and also with Fleash tearer for his group heal, I’ve seen him work with Frostkin and Apoth, but using 2 Ironclads at once with 2 group healers if that works could be really OP. Minaya group heal on turn 1, then 2nd group heal on turn 2 if there are any survivors 🙂

Should I put Ironlacd in savage gear or would that passive not work with savage? would it be better to just use 2 life and 1 speed sets?

Really want to try this setup to finally get out of silver 3/4 in arena.

  10. RelativeNewbie

Pair him with Frostskin for sick damage.

  11. Hanzo

    His cleanse is clutch!

And only 5 books to fully book, I have him paired with Sethalia on Tag Team Arena and it’s insane, ignores defense, straight 50% of healed. His passive is works with critical rate and Crit. Dmg doing insane damage, worth all the HP% and Crit% rate and Crit. DMG gear you can stack.

I’m currently hitting 40K crit. damage from Sethalia’s heals, he is at 129% crit.dmg and 37.8K HP. And he’s only level 50!!!

  12. juvigy

Passive heal also works for me , but damage is tiny – you should avoid doompriest or Scyl as they consume your passive and then any big heal you have will not trigger. You have it only once per round. With 60k HP and direct heal from Apothecary i got around 15k damage which is not bad. More HP and better healer like SETHALLIA will easily double that.

  13. juvigy

Direct heal works for me , but i dont get any good results. I am FFP and dont have the gear most likely.

  14. Sam

I went back to check the direct heal after posting this. Even the direct heal (Apothecary) doesn’t work if he isn’t already injured.

    Trash.

  15. Sam

This was a huge disappointment (and waste of silver) for me. I put all immortal gear on him and test ran him with Scyl, Miscreated, Bad, and Doompriest in a potion dungeon. I knew it’d be way too OP if all of that worked, but none of it triggered his passive. NONE of it worked. I’m guessing only direct heals work, but I was too disappointed to test it out further.

  16. Begone!

Got my Ironclad to 6* and ACC 310, SPD 217. With Vogoth as lead (+40 ACC and provoke skill) against Magma Dragon. With his A1 Heal reduction, Ironclad proved really useful against Magma Dragon, even on Hard level. Paired further with Seeker, Scyl, and Apothecary.

  17. TO

I set him up like this:

Immortal Set and Sleep set (Stun Set would work too)
Mastery I did Support and Defense. I only did Mastery down to Harvest Despair So he places a Leech sometimes.
The key is having him with Vrask. They are in the same fraction so they could be useful in fraction wars.
Ironclad needs to be faster than Vrask so Ironclad goes first his Immortal set procs and maybe puts someone to sleep and maybe puts a leech on someone.
Then Vrask goes and Ironclads Passive Procs again because this is a new turn and he does a few thousand in damage and at least one Enemy should be asleep and one should have a leech one them.

  18. Justin

Does the immortal set heal him before his turn commences. Ie, while his passive is still in cooldown. I would much rather prefer his damage to be triggered by my Sky Touched, than by the immortal set. But I also want him to stay as close to full HP as possible.

  19. Ayumilove Post author

@Q: I did some testing on Ironclad in Stun Set and Immortal Set in Campaign Brutal 12-3 and found out that his passive skill will be able to inflict Stun on enemies. However, if Ironclad receives significant damage that the Immortal Set is unable to heal him over 100% HP, then the passive skill will not proc. I paired Ironclad with Skytouched Shaman who can apply AoE heal and they work well together. The healer is there to provide extra healing in case the Immortal Set is not able to fully heal Ironclad. I posted a video here http://redd.it/kpgfwo

  20. Q

How would a stun set work with immortal set on him? does it mean he will auto-attack all enemies and stun some of them at the start of each of his turns? if so, it can be better than most other uses for stun set without depending on a healer

  21. Ayumilove Post author

@Begone! The alternative is to use Cursed Set that applies Healing Reduction debuff of 50%. However, the chances to land that debuff is RNG (random) but it does not require the champion to have Accuracy stats to apply it if its sourced from Artifact Sets.

  22. Begone!

Ironclad is my poor man’s option for a champion who can do a 100% heal reduction on his A1. The only other that I have that can do heal reduction on A1 is Gator, and that is just a 50% heal reduction. Bad affinity, I know, but yeah, I have no other choice. So I got him in Divine Speed and 2 Perception sets, and he has 187 speed and 274 accuracy (as I am writing, I am leveling him up in 5* – I do not intend to go 6* – lvl 23 now, and lands his reduction on Sylvania every 6th hit (Spirit Keep level 13).

  23. Tom Chapman Barros-Wing

Wow, just half-developed one of these (lvl 40) on a whim to help out in my Faction Wars team, and turns out he was totally the glue that made Vrask and Ultimate Galek MUCH more effective. So far I put him in 2 Life sets and 1 Immortality (because I already had the gear sitting around leveled, unused, with useful substats), and that seems to be working just fine so far.

How come NOBODY ever talks about this guy for Faction Wars? (Or did I just start paying attention?)

  24. ErnyJRC

I made its meme build… IN STUN SET Crit! :3

i am currently experimenting with my ironclad, i don’t spend much so it will take me some time to fully explore his skills:

first, we know his 3rd can proc from lifesteal, so i tried both WM and GS on CB. the good thing about WM is that it does proc both in his 1st and his 3rd on a single turn but in a weird way. based on my observation, he only procs it in his 3rd if he isn’t 100%hp and provided he also procs from his 1st. kinda weird. so basically WM can proc coming from multiple sources of heal from a single turn. one thing i haven’t tested from this is the leech. i have seen from other battles that he can proc 3rd from different sources heal provided it’s from a single turn. i’m still currently testing the GS since i was theorizing whether i can cycle the effect. i think it did work once after so many tries, but the chances are so low. but still i havent tested it with leech so maybe it could potentially be fun.

other type of strategies are quite simple so i planned to test them later. i can’t rely on his damage so i’m planning on building a counter debuffer every time the enemy is healed. i still wanna try the chaplain offense combo and the master butcher defense combo..

  26. ASMODARL

    @Jason

that won’t work. each spider will trigger a seperate heal. as will warmaster. so basically you only get the A3 damage from one spider as damage output from ironclads passiv.

For ironclad you probably want Minaya or Sethallia. Adriel and skytouched shaman are good options too.

I am working on a team like that for fun as I got three ironclads rank 5 already.

I do not hink that the combo will break any game mode as weak hits are very underwhelming and you basically sacrifcie three spots for a fun mechanic. If it doesnt kill everything in the first rotation it might be rahther boring.

  27. Jason

I want to try 2 ironclad and a chaplain’s A3 at high level. I wonder how that would do on spider if the chaplain AoE procced war master on the main boss and a couple minion spiders and then that heal got blasted out as damage

  28. Eric

Ayumilove, I’ve been trying out Ironclad’s passive with Sky Touched Shaman’s passive heal and have been seeing promising results. He’s not equipped with any healing gear (currently a shield set to keep his HP maxed) and my Sky Touched (6 star, ascended, not booked) is at about 65K HP. He’s only 4 star, no ascensions or books and I’ve defeated the first two bosses in campaign on brutal (not great after that).

Do we know if critical rate affects his passive?

Since I know you are working on Sky Touched yourself, maybe you can tweak this build for optimal results. Thank you for all your work on this site.

  29. Dave Astle

@MikeFox: Because he’s force affinity, and thus about a third of his attacks will be weak, causing the debuff to not be applied.

  30. MikeFox

Why is he not rated higher for Spirit Keep when something like Grizzled Jarl is 5*? Granted, GJ has 10% higher chance of applying the Heal Reduction debuff, but both are A1 abilities and both are 100% reduction (when IC is ascended 3*) – would have thought IC would be a relatively solid pick for Spirit. Am I missing something?

  31. Ky

    Aw no lore!? 🙁 lol

  32. Preator

I think his passive will synergise well with Burst healing heroes. He is definitely under-researched.
Best part is that any debuffs his attacks would have will also apply.

  33. Ayumilove Post author

@Dave Astle: If you use Immortal Set on him, he will not do much damage since Immortal Set heals 3% of Ironclad’s MAX HP (per set). I would pair Ironclad with a powerful healer such as Vrask that heals 10% of his Max HP or equipped Ironclad with Lifesteal Set to heal him much more via Warmaster proc.

  34. Dave Astle

Does his passive trigger set effects? I’m thinking for faction wars, Orcs don’t have a ton of crowd control, so maybe a stun set + immortal on him would help.

  35. Ayumilove Post author

@Mr.erlandsen: Yes, any form of healing such as Lifesteal Set, Mastery and Skill will trigger his passive. However, it will only triggers once and it is reset upon reaching Ironclad’s turn.

  36. Mr.erlandsen

I was wondering, does lifesteal work on his passive too?

  37. Ayumilove Post author

@Buzzorc: Ironclad mastery guide and equipment guide are now available!

  38. Nik

I can see why you considered regeneration, but I believe Immortal would be the better way to go since higher HP means bigger heals. 3x Immortal sets get you a 45% HP bonus, plus you maintain the 9% per turn heal (which at about 57k hp gets you 2500 damage a turn with a 5k heal). Where the HP boost becomes even more important with in combination from others. Not factoring in perks to boost healing received or cast, Apothecary heals 50% of max hp. At 57k hp, that deals ~14k damage per Soothing Chant. Factor in perks (shadow heal, etc) to get more individual heals and this guy could work for arena, but I really more see him for Spider or Spirit Keep.

  39. Ajomo

Yeah I think this guy is better than rated… Pls update him.

  40. Buzzorc

No mastery tree again I used a hp set and the regeneration set and got a hell of a lot more damage out of him
