These comments apply only to PVE as I haven’t used Hordin in PVP yet.

If you have great Offense oriented gear the advice on this page is excellent and allows Hordin to easily turn successive A1 1 shots into extended Extra Turn killing chains dominating enemies.

If you don’t have great gear it all falls apart and another Hordin hater is born. Since he kept failing in my lowbie gear on this particular account that was me.

Here’s how I finally converted my Hordin from a vault guardian to a reliable Brutal 13-3 solo with no books, a level 3 mastery, ‘beginner’ gear, and even almost no crit.

I disabled his A2. In great gear it’s a heal break. In poor gear it breaks him. Yes, it has a juicy multiplier, but it can stupidly interrupt any chained kills he does get since it doesn’t have a chance of an Extra Turn. It can also steal kills from a skill that does. Yes, the A2 is his heal but 1 little point in Lifedrinker gives DMG based heals every hit instead of on a 4 turn cool down and he’ll be hitting very frequently.

I put him in Retaliation. Relentless comes only from tournaments. Retaliation comes in your first week with the current free Ninja promo, as a 28 day login reward, and all you want from Campaign.

Don’t get me wrong, if you’re regularly getting A1 1 shots and chained kills an 18% Relentless chance at another is still a big deal, nerf or not. But if you aren’t, it isn’t. Facing a wave of 4 mobs up to 4 extra Retaliation attacks all with Lifedrinker heals is.

When I finish leveling him, complete his masteries, book him, and perhaps get some higher end gear on this particular account I’ll reevaluate it all but in the meantime he’s making morels out of manure.

I definitely wouldn’t go for Warmaster. Helmsmasher or Flawless Execution. Hordin is terrible against bosses, and Warmaster is not much bang for your buck against waves. Better to make him a wave specialist than to try to make him work in every role; his multipliers are just not that great.

  3. Zackery Brinkley

Would u not go for the 20+ Crit dmg instead of warmaster?

  4. Tom Chapman Barros-Wing

@Tristram: I used that strategy with Dhampir when I was starting out in the game, and it worked really well at first. But every spiderling you kill makes a new one come out, and as the levels went up, that got overwhelming. How far did you get (in levels) with Hordin?

this site need updated with all the new champions

I ate my first Hordin… rookie mistake… now he is my main Brutal, 9, 3 farmer… have him in Relenteless gear and he rushes my low levers fast… even though the gear is crap I can farm Bezerker, Warmaiden Shieldgaurd… Currently Crit Rate is 78% and crit damage is 76% and working to get these number up. Keep him… when he gets really good can use in Arena Offense, way better than Relickeeper. Happy Thanksgiving…

I think Hordin is awesome for spider den, when used properly. Use the B.H. A3 skill and use bloodletter a2 on spider every turn. If you have him upgraded enough and booked, he should be able to kill spiderlings in one hit of his A1 so do that on enough spiderlings to get turns to unlock his a2 and a3 and use the a2 on spider. It works fantastically especially if spider is spirit affinity.

  8. Gooooooooch

I just fused Relickeeper and then used a Sacred and got Hordin lmao… Literally the two competing dudes at level 1. I’ll see what I can make out of each one. Only thing is I don’t need either one for campaign farming as I have a lvl 60 Queen Eva that can solo every brutal stage and she’s the one I use to lvl up other champs. Idk kinda seems like both are a little unnecessary at the moment, I guess I’m keeping them for FW and not much else, unless they have better utility elsewhere than campaign. Open to suggestions on what to do with my new baby twins!

  9. TheTodmeister

My only gripe with Hordin is that his AI needs to stop using his A2 when he’s at full health, and is not attacking a boss.

I will watch on auto in FW as he forfeits attacks he COULD have taken to kill multiple wave mobs in succession in order to use his A2 instead. It’s a little frustrating, and it’s the only thing I think that puts him a notch below Relickeeper.

@Ecthelion: If you do not have any better Banner Lords champions for Faction Wars, I would highly advise you to keep him.

  11. Ecthelion

Is it worth keeping two Hordins, or should I use the second one to upgrade skill? What y’all think?

Even if the Relentless set has been nerfed, it’s still a good choice for him.

If his A1 falls short of KOing an enemy, he can still have a chance to get an extra turn with the set, kill the enemy, and keep going.
(this applies for Relickeeper and Heiress)

If he uses his A2, the kill-chain combo is interrupted. With the set, he has a chance to get an extra turn and again, keep going.
(this applies to Heiress, who tends to cut the chain to buff the team)

Hordin is pretty good, almost the same than Relickeeper.
The main difference is, that while Hordin is technically more powerful (he has 2 attack skills, and a better buff), Relickeeper is simplier, and more effective in most cases.

Hordin tends to interrupt the chain using his A2, which is often the moment you need to take him out. Specifically, if he’s damaged, he will use A3 followed by A2 (I guess to heal more), and that usually defeats him.
Relickeeper gets his healing automatically, and if he already has an attack buff, he don’t uses his A2. He goes straight to KO opponents, and uses A2 just to keep going or when his basic strength is not enough.
Basically, since Relickeeper has a simplier skill set-up, his AI is more effective and precise.

    Another difference is the affinity.
Relickeeper tends to be more effective in earlier game, since his Force can quickly finish off all the basic Heroes (Kael, Athel,Elhain and Galek) which are usually the main hitters.
And Hordin becomes more useful later, where teams have more varied compositions; on early game he’s not useless either, since Spirit supporters can be all the difference and he can dispatch ’em fast (like Spirithost)

Recently, there was a fragment summon event where you got Hordin. I got one Hordin from it, and then I got another one from an ancient shard. What should I do with the duplicate one? Should I keep it, sacrifice it, or use it on my other Hordin as a skill upgrade?

  14. IamSalvation

Anyone knows why he won´t use his A2 on CB on Auto? He only ever does his A3 + A1 when i let him Auto.. which is pretty bad becausee his Dec Attack would be a usefull deebuff to have. Maybew because my Vrask keeeps him at high health?

  15. Bremer68

I just picked him up so he is only a baby but threw a relentless set on him. Currently soloing for scrolls my record is 12 extra turns in a row hehe

  16. SunnyRay

    @Badger Ken
“Spiderling Horde (Passive): Before each Champion’s turn, the boss summons 2 spiderlings”.
Extra turn is a turn, so it’s like chopping Lernaean Hydra’s heads: for every one cut off two grow back 🙂

  17. Badger Ken

Would his A1 “Attacks 1 enemy 2 times. Grants an Extra Turn if the target is killed.” let him go through spiderlings like a knife through butter? Might deserve more than 1 star.

  18. Retekegér

Hordin is the first “Fragmented Summon” champ. Anyone can collect his fragments within a week and after gets the champ. I think he is worth it. 🙂

  19. Rintrah

@Sinev The extra turn on Burning Hasted is an ascended skill, it’s still there 🙂

  20. Sinev

It seems Burning Hatred doesnt grant an extra turn anymore

  21. Ayumilove Post author

@ShalokShalom: Relentless Set has been nerfed. It will not be calculated when Hordin takes an Extra Turn upon a kill.

  22. Jimreap

He’s like an upgraded version of relickeeper

  23. ShalokShalom

    Relentless set….

  24. Ramo

    Hello,
I’ve summoned Hordin not too long ago, and I have to say that the extra turn on his A1 is pretty good for Faction Wars.
I posted my first message after using this website a lot, because his ranking does not take Faction Wars into account yet !

  25. Don Giggy

I’ve been using Hordin of late. He’s definitely A Tier. He’s up there with Tallia, Royal Guard, Aothar, Lua and all the other attack epics you have in that tier. I have used all of them and I prefer him to all of those except Lua and some situations Royal Guard
