I just used him in Doom Tower for the Hard Secret Room Spirit champs and he was the key! I kept him at Level 50… I had him in Frost and Frostbite sets (not all maxed out either) – he has all his books but not all the masteries. His provoke and unkillable worked great! I might max him now given the comment below.

  2. Another player

Doom tower secret rooms are not on the list of game areas. However….

Hp champs – having mortu problems? Provoke.
    Rare spirit champs? Provoke.
    Rare hp champs? Provoke.

Generally he can help in the worst secret rooms. I maxed him for this- hard doom tower stages especially.

There are actually about 13 secret rooms i counted that he can go into. If your speed is faster than yhe waves then you can usuallly cycle nicely.

A 5th rank Support mastery is missing – I’d go Sniper but many would probably prefer Master Hexer.

  4. Katharsia

1 star on clanboss…. sure? He’s great for taking the stun in an unkillable team once you get into magic affinity.

What is the best way to get gnarlhorn to fuse to get erinyes

  6. Mongaman

There is no such thing as a “weak hit” on his provoke placement. (Or a crit or normal for that matter since it’s not a “hit” at all). He just places it as long as you have enough accuracy. That’s why it’s a great ability and makes him such a great crowd control champ, especially for a rare.

@Acolt: To enable enemies to attack Gnarlhorn, he needs to be either a weaker affinity or has the least MAX HP compared to other allies in the team. In addition, a better approach is to build him fast with high accuracy, so he takes the turn first before the enemy to apply the Provoke debuff on them before they start attacking your team!

  8. Acolt

so much lies. how is it possible, that on all videos enemies attack gnarl? i tried dozens of teams, and not a single enemy attack him… i need big help with spider 19&20… i ranked him to 6*, fully booked… spiderlings kills my team but dont attack him… what a BS!!!

    @Steve A
Because his best feature are crowd control using frost sets, and they work better with Fearsome Presence 🙂

    @All
For debuffs to land with no Acc it must say “This debuff can’t be resisted”

  10. Steve A

Why do you need Fearsome Presence when he has 100% chance to place a provoke?

  11. WileyMan

I am fairly certain that even with the wording of “Places a Provoke Debuff…”, you still need (1) To not have a weak hit and (2) To win the Accuracy vs. Resistance check.

“Place” merely means that there is a 100% chance to place, compared to skills that have a percentage chance to place, such as Warchief’s Brutal Force skill: “Has a 25% chance of placing a [Provoke] debuff for 1 turn.”

A1 skills are very rarely “Place” and are typically percentage chance. A2 & A3 skills are sometimes 100%, but that sometimes requires books.

  12. Jan Fischer

Of course he needs ACC to land the provokes.

Places just means you can’t weak hit.

  13. William L Wall Jr.

oh my bad says palces I think your right he wouldn’t need ACC.

  14. William L Wall Jr.

@ nate to land the Provoke,

  15. Nate

    Why does he need accuracy

  16. WillWoll

Should change his first offense mastery from Deadly Precision. Gnarlhorn cannot crit. Hence built without any extra crit rate or crit damage if you’re minmaxing.

  17. Tom Chapman Barros-Wing

Seems like the “usability” should be upgraded to include “late game” or “endgame,” since a ton of people use him in stage 21 of the crypt. I’m down to my last handful of stars for Faction Wars myself, now, and I’m building Gnarlhorn from scratch for the end.

  18. TheTodmeister

I have him in a mediocre frost set and perception set right now for Faction Wars, and it’s incredibly fun to watch him bring on the entire 1st and 3rd wave and half of them freeze when they hit him.

Also, when he’s down to 0HP and unkillable, his attack hits pretty hard, despite the lack of crit. The fact that his attack can’t crit just means more HP/DEF on his gloves, and he still actually lands the killing blow on some of the enemy attackers.

Also the fact that his Provoke isn’t placed with an attack, also means that affinity doesn’t matter for his main debuff either, just as it doesn’t for his A1 since it can’t be a weak attack. So, he’s like the Skinwalker’s answer to Templar. Better on the provoke, but also harder to book out.

  19. SaucyLobes

@Selath there has not been any change to Gnarlhorn since Hades video which is only 2 months old. I’m not sure what you are referring to, the skills are identical.

  20. Selath

@Shamurai Hades did the vid before his unkillable buff got nerfed tho.

  21. Shamurai

Gnarlhorn is SOOOO much better than is listed here. HellHades did a great breakdown of how he is basically the best budget carry in the game.

  22. Brian

    Soooo much better! Thank you!

@EtacZ – Thank you! This rocks!

Is there a way to become a sponsor of your site and lose the advertisements?

Depending on what monitor I’m on, I can’t even see some of the content and the pages load extremely slow while I wait for the ads to populate (and my internet speed is roughly 230mgb/sec).

    Looking forward.
