Galek Review

Galek is a Rare Attack Magic Champion hailing from the Orcs faction in Raid Shadow Legends, stands out as one of the four initial champions alongside Athel, Elhain, and Kael, allowing players to select him at the onset of their journey. Renowned for his self-buffing ability that enhances speed, Galek often catches opponents off guard in the Arena, swiftly outpacing them to deliver devastating blows. Moreover, his skill to inflict the Decrease Defense debuff proves particularly effective against sturdy adversaries such as Defenders and Support champions. As players progress, they may also encounter his successors, Ultimate Galek and Supreme Galek, who can be acquired through summoning shards.

Galek’s defining ability, Hellraiser (A2 skill), unleashes devastating AoE attacks on enemies while simultaneously enhancing his speed with the Increase Speed buff. This tactical advantage allows him to swiftly outmaneuver opponents, setting the stage for his follow-up skill, Cursed Blade (A3 skill). This four-hit random attack not only deals significant damage but also inflicts the Decrease Defense debuff on its targets. Particularly noteworthy is Galek’s prowess when facing a lone adversary, as his Cursed Blade can swiftly dispatch the last remaining foe with its relentless barrage of strikes! His primary skill, Cross Slash (A1 skill), lacks any special effects but delivers two consecutive hits, amplifying damage output. Lastly, his Health Aura, applicable across all areas, significantly bolsters champion survivability, particularly in the early stages of the game.

Overall, Galek is a decent damage nuker Rare champion in the Orc faction that might be worth taking to Level 60 if you do not have any damage dealer in that faction for Faction Wars, especially if you are a F2P (Free to Play) player.

Galek Champion Lore

Galek was raised in a world of violence. His father, Artak, espoused a campaign of revanchism against the Banner Lords of Kaerok. His mission was to reclaim, with blood and war, all the lands the Humans had stolen from the Orcs during the Red Crusade, many centuries in the past. Artak’s quest dominated every aspect of the clan’s life, and the young were praised only for their aggression and prowess in battle.

Galek grew up as a quiet and introspective youth, and many mistook his silence for shyness. He rarely partook in revelry or raucous celebration, instead favoring books at home or listening to the tales of the clan’s Cantadella – a song-keeper tasked with remembering the histories of the Orcs and the Gaellen Pact. On this steady diet of knowledge and history, Galek had difficulty navigating the politics of his clan. His mother, Arax, only made it harder.

Arax was the Cantadella of an Orc clan from the northern realm of Frostheim — the Humans of that mountainous kingdom had far friendlier relations with the Orc clans living on their lands. The revanchism that had so poisoned Artak and his allies could find no grip in the Orcs of Frostheim, nor in Arax. She had married Artak to cement an alliance, though there were whispers she had been sent to try to temper Artak’s rage. She did not succeed with her husband, but her son proved more pliable. From her, Galek learned the value of life, patience, and perspective, and he sought to avoid partaking in war. Galek’s peers found his values repulsive. As firstborn of the clan’s warlord, skill in battle was expected of him, and they punished him for any lapses. Fortunately, Galek bore incredible strength in his blood, and learned quickly from the brutal attacks from his ‘friends’. It did not take long for Galek to grow into the finest warrior in the clan, second only to his father.

Then Galek’s mother passed on, and there was no one left to protect him from the cycle of war he had tried to avoid all his life. Artak was quick to draw Galek onto the battlefield, but with every step Galek felt his true self slipping away. Fortunately for him, there were higher powers at play, and dreams of a golden woman with hair as red as his own changed his life forever.

I really have a hard time to understand any reason for all starters & even “Kurzad Deepheart” are listed as A ranks while Galek is treated as “B”!

I see that Kael and Athel are more useful for CB, Dragon or respective Fireknight. And that even mid-to-endgame, while Galek’s only speciality lies in early-to-mid game arena.
But he does still decent on brutal campaign or Doom Tower floors. So why Elhain but not Galek?

  2. luvs2play

I set him up in Swift Parry/Divine Speed, emphasis upon Speed & Attack%, thinking he will dominate soon enough? I hope this was a decent choice and I’ll find out soon. 🙂

  3. Churles

I used the destroy and crue set and he is stronger then the ultimate knight so far.

This is to all who complain about champs being rubbish.

When I first started playing this game, I thought lots of champs were rubbish. Then I figured the game out, re kitted a few of those rubbish champs and now they are great.

I find kitting a champ out quite simple. Pick a set of gear that can provide good enough stats.

I stripped Kael and re kitted him with 6star epic and leggo stuff a while ago, and man does he smash, and I have lots of leggos.

When you get near end game, you should have way better gear and perhaps then can be more choosey about what you put on a champ, until then, use what you have and bear in mind the champs you start with, you probably won’t use for a seriously long time except for one or two.

  5. Michael Garibaldi

@karen Magreevy those red dots on the artifacts are just new artifacts, not the recommended artifacts for a character

  6. Karen Magreevy

    @aymilove see below.

  7. Karen Magreevy

I have what you recommended on Galek currently. 1 Lifesteal set, 1 speed set. Every day I log in and have red dots everywhere. Seems Galek wants the fancy other premium armor. Specifically, Fury and on down on the list. So what do I do? Just keep clearing the dots? Is there updated information I am not seeing? Thanks!

  8. superextra

I like my Galek, he is so strong and fast! I do not regret having chosen him as a starter because he is the king in the arena. He is only level 50 and my arena team only has a power of 33K with Dhampir as the second nuker, but i take down teams of power 40K and higher. I am well grounded at Silver II until i can upgrade my Galek to 60, then i will surely reach Gold in arena.

  9. ArcticF0X

Of the four starter champions I only 6-starred Galek. Here’s why:

I finished High Elves Faction Wars without Elhain in the team. There are plenty of good damage options in the faction. I have completed Dark Elves Factions Wars without Kael in the team. Just didn’t need him. Plenty of better damagers in the faction. I have completed Sacred Order Faction Wars without Athel. There are plenty of Epic damage dealers who are better (Tallia/Fenax).

ORCS HOWEVER – now that is a TOUGH faction. Second boss (red) on the Faction Wars is a huge obstacle and you need firepower to beat it. I didn’t have Seer so I finally got past it with Zargala, Sandlashed and Galek at level 60. I totally don’t regret 6-starring Galek. He is dishing out tons of damage in a lifesteal set and just keeps going.

Don’t bother with Support masteries just for his crappy low chance random Decrease DEF. Forget accuracy and focus entirely on crit damage. Let Dhukk or Zargala apply the Defence down. Galek can be fully maxed with Rare Tomes and as long as you give him decent gear you will get great results.

  10. AliMadmanTTV

Hi, if DEF% and HP% are preferred stats for his PvE sets, why is ATK% suggested for the chestpiece mainstat?

  11. DaisyH

Galek not a 5 stars in campaign is a pure joke
I’m free2play and trust me with same gear Galek 6* can clear stage 12/6 easy, meanwhile Athel 6*struggle at 12/3
don’t listen to those whales bashing galek

  12. Matthew

Kael is strictly better for campaign, as he does more damage, and his AE resets his turn.

  13. Pikkuteemu

4☆ for campaign and Kael have 5☆?
Galek is probably the best starter option for campaign.
    Kael is weak and squishy.

  14. Ayumilove Post author

@Jeddy: I also have 6 starred starter champions and I have used them extensively before recommending these advises. I mentioned that Kael can be use for late game content such as Dragon’s Lair 20 dungeons because he is good at that area. I am still using Kael for that purpose since I do not have any better Poisoner champions, apart from Occult Brawler and Frozen Banshee. It’s quite easy to 6 star the starter champion within the first 2 weeks in the game with the available resources as a F2P (Free to Play). If the player has already six starred multiple champions, I would not advise restarting with Kael and just hope to get a good poisoner champion from shard summoning (which is kinda RNG/random).

  15. Jeddy

I disagree with these statements telling people to start as kael for late game, kael is not late game, galek is fine as a farmer and for fw, but people need to recognise other than farming and fw the starters are not endgame, when a player reaches endgame they don’t use 2.5 percent poison attacks on UNM CB, why tell people kael is late game he’s good in CB till NM then he falls off, and as for farming Galeks A2 has the same multipliers that kael has, I’ve 6 stared every starter and I’d put Galek 3rd.

@Tarell Hudson: Actually Galek is powerful in his own way and this same applies to the other starting champions (e.g. Athel, Elhain and Kael). The reasoning behind the content creators recommending Kael is because he will help immensely with the Clan Boss and Dragon Boss. It’s kinda difficult to get a good Poison debuffer as a F2P (Free to Play) player. If the player misses out on Kael, he/she will need to find a substitute such as Outlaw Monk just for Clan Boss and Dragon Boss. Outlaw Monk is kinda squishy and will require more effort to keep him alive compared to Kael. Galek can be easily substituted with other attack role champions that does high damage and aslo his Decrease Defense can be replaced by Warmaiden.

  17. Ayumilove Post author

@Dede: Pick Kael as your starting champion. He will make it easy for you to do high damage to Clan Boss and Dragon Boss. Clan Boss allows you to farm Immortal Set and Cruel Set daily, while Dragon Boss allows you to farm Lifesteal Set and Speed Set.

  18. Dede

hello guys, i played this game for weeks and now i want to restart stuffs from this champ but have hardness to choice the good one. Does anyone has some examples ? ty

  19. Tarell Hudson

Many of the recommendations here go against vids like Hell Hades and Ash and Chofly and all the other content creators. I appreciate this guide but whenever I show my builds based on these recs to veteran players for advice, they negate everything posted here. Where’s the disconnect?

  20. Xelod93

This hero is under rated! Also I think this should updated here, he’s not only early hero, he can be used in mid and end game as well.

  21. Klayton Bouck

My hordin used to deal 100k with a hex debuff

  22. Ayumilove Post author

@Klatyon Bouck: You can use him to farm Brutal Campaign 12-3 to get more 6 Star champions to aid in Clan Boss battle. For me, I would restart and use Kael as my starter champion since he can be use for Late Game Dragon 20 Dungeons.

  23. Klatyon Bouck

So my Galek is six stared is it to late to start over?

  24. Vadik

wow, you are really underselly this beefy tusk-boi.
With a reflex set, cycle of violence and cycle of magic, he do campaign runs in about 6 seconds.
His defence debuff is great on bosses, sinnce they are single target and all 4 hits can proc it it becomes super reliable, and will be the strong version even with 2 posion stacks on the enemy.
And he seems to have the best damage multipliers of the 4 starter champs. He’s a beast.
Also he’s really good looking, thats a bonus.

  25. redeemer

@Gabe depents on te gear u have on him and sub stats i just leveld my galek to lvl 60 whit 6 purpel stars end moste of my gear is 5* en he hits moste of the time around 18 – 25 k atm

  26. Gabe

I have follow your tips and I’m at level 17 on IGP and DL and my Galek doesn’t hit more than 3
    Or 4K :(. Is that normal ? Lol. He is level 43 6 ⭐️.

  27. Nivloc

@Ayumilove: Thanks for tips. I have other poisoners (Dracomorph and Elenaril) but will continue to upgrade Kael. Though, It appears all 4 of the starters are good till gold in the arena and have a hard time in the Nightmare campaigns because they die very quickly. I seem to be having better luck going with some of the defensive champions, a much different and slower game.

I’ve seen Saurus used that way and wanted to try it with my Balisk, but he wants to use his other attacks.

Wow this game is addicting. I have been playing way too much, since being under the lockdown protocol. Thanks for your site and all the work you put into it.

  28. Ayumilove Post author

@Nivloc: Kael, Athel and Elhain could complete the Campaign run around 12~16 seconds when geared right, sometimes its based on RNG where your mastery proc to reset the cooldown of your skills. I have also tested the Uncommon Champion Saurus using Single-Hit Nuke Farmer strategy who can clear Campaign 12-3 Brutal under 7~11 seconds (35~40K damage per hit). I have also tested Rare Champion Bellower using Double-Hit Speed Farmer strategy who can consistently clear Campaign 12-3 Brutal under 8 seconds (25K damage per hit on each victim).

If you do not have any good Poisoner champion, I would recommend you getting Kael to Level 60 first since he is used in Late Game Dungeon such as Dragon’s Lair to farm Lifeteal Set and Speed Set artifacts. Galek is advisable to be left in vault for the time being and only upgraded for Faction Wars usage if there are no better Orc champions to be level up. Athel, Elhain and Galek are mainly used till Mid Game.

  29. Nivloc

Hmm… I’m having a lot of success with Galek as a farmer. He is easily able to complete the campaign through brutal by himself, doing brutal 12.6 in as low as 16 seconds. His Hellraiser will usually 20-40k damage on each victim. Will Kael do better than that? I have one at 50 and am wondering if I should invest in him and possibly switch?

  30. Ayumilove Post author

@Xorron: Your Kael has insufficient Defense and HP to sustain the enemy attacks. If you do not have a Healer champion in battle, equip Kael with Lifesteal Set.

  31. Xorron

I have all 4 starters and I cannot understand why Kael is rated better than Galek. Especially at campaign. While Galek can be used to skill 3 1* champions in Valdemar Strait Level 7, Kael very often is killed even if he has Level 20 or higher champions aside.

  32. lysti

Buff this champ please.. he is so bad compared to the other starters.. booking this champ is also doing almost nothing.. please give him some value in investing into him.. reduce cooldown.. increased base stats on champ and skills..
i have him 6 stars and full level 16 x 6 star gear and he still does mediocre dmg.

  33. Ayumilove Post author

@OZzeT: Yes, you are right. If you manual Galek in Arena battle to perform his A3 skill “Cursed Blade” to lay some Decrease Defense on enemies first, Charged Focus will be more beneficial there. I’ll update Galek mastery guide to switch “Charged Focus” with “Exalt in Death” due to his AI prioritizing his A2 before A3.

  34. Ayumilove Post author

@Tuuhwaga: It depends on the stats on your equipment. If you have sufficient stats on equipment to function properly in Clan Boss and Dungeons, you can use the ones you have rather the ones recommended above.

  35. Tuuhwaga

not sure about you guys but i am doing a lot better with an Immortal+Life Steal sets

  36. OZzeT

hey, i’m still noob in this game but just curious. Galek is my starter and still strongest character, so every fight i start with AoE Hellraiser skill, later Cursed Blade skill so i guess I won’t have any benefits from Charged Focus mastery right?

    Btw awesome website
