Elhain Review

Elhain, a Magic affinity rare champion from the High Elves faction in Raid Shadow Legends. She is one of the 4 starter champions (Athel, Kael, Galek) that you can select before you begin your game! Dark Elhain is her successor who can only be obtained from Daily Login Rewards, and Supreme Elhain is obtained from participating in the Raid’s 4th Anniversary Fragment Fusion Champion event!

In the opening scene, Elhain unfortunately becomes the victim of the Dragon’s attack. If you’re considering reviving her, it’s important to note that she excels in the arena due to her powerful attack, but that’s her main strength. With her AoE nuke, she is best utilized to clear mobs of enemies rather than for boss raiding.

Elhain is considered the weakest among the four starter champions primarily because she lacks strong debuffs against enemies. However, she compensates for it with her high damage output, making her quite effective in that aspect. If you’re aiming to build her as a well-rounded champion, it’s recommended to focus on offensive and defensive masteries since accuracy isn’t crucial for her. In most situations, choosing Warmaster as her mastery is generally the best option.

Elhain Champion Lore

Succession is of paramount importance to any kingdom, and the Kingdom of Aravia was no exception. However, unlike Aravia’s neighbors, Kaerok and Frostheim, the monarchs of the Elves had the power to choose their successors. Often they picked one of their children, but in cases where they had none to choose from, or when those children rendered themselves somehow unsuitable, the ruling monarch could select an individual who they felt was fit to take the throne. So it was for Queen Eva and her niece, Elhain.

Elhain had always had the eye of her royal aunt, Queen Eva, who had an interminable hand in her upbringing, for the Queen had no children of her own. Eva chose wisely: Elhain’s immeasurable gifts and intelligence grew as she did, and Elhain was an intense scholar, even from a very young age. She was often found reading even late into the night, the subjects of her studies ranging from playful stories to ancient histories.

Believing that Elhain’s deep desire to learn was a mark of great things to come, Queen Eva expanded Elhain’s tutelage. Elhain took quickly to magic and martial arts, particularly archery, but she remained a scholar at heart, and her chief interest became something unpalatable to most of her tutors: the schism between the High Elves and the Dark Elves.

When the Queen began grooming Elhain for leadership and suggesting that she could declare Elhain her successor, Elhain took her studies beyond the pages of the books she read. Instead of merely wishing to learn more about the War of the Elves, she began to wonder if there might not be something that could be done.

Leaning on her royal aunt for support, Elhain scoured the libraries and archives of Aravia to retrieve any records or accounts of the War of the Elves. She sought to understand the Dark Elves, but not simply so that she might better know her enemy — it was so she could turn them into a friend. The Queen approved of Elhain’s quest, but, like all High Elves, she had her doubts. She could never have imagined how far Elhain’s mission would take her.

  1. Campa

    Why not helmsmasher for arena?

  2. Ronda fan

No idea why she is 2 star for clan boss she may not stack up to leggos financed by whales but she does disgusting damage for my F2P demon lord team. I use her with Demytha, Pythion, Artak and Geomancer and she routinely does 2-3x more damage than Artak on hard and brutal (they’re all level 60 and 30K+ power).

  3. Computer

Elhain truly is the best starter for a simple reason: the vast majority of your time for months will be grinding campaign. That’s so much time saved with her because she has two AOEs. Kael does not. Kael and athel might be better at clan boss, but who cares. Clan boss loot sucks until you get higher up, by which point you’ll probably have replacement for all the starters. There’s really no justifiable reason to pick any starter but Elhain.

  4. DangerMouse

I agree with ArcticFOX. Elhain needs to be move to A tier. Consistent damage, AoE x2, and when built right.. She hits like a truck.

  5. DangerMoose

Can we move Elhain up to an A tier? She hits like an effing truck. She is one my most hard hitting players on my squad.

  6. Vitor

    Agreeing with ArcticF0X here, folks.

On my F2P account, started with Kael and ditched him pretty quickly once Elhain was pulled. Out of all the starters (alongside Athel, Kael, and Galek), she damages the most consistently, and that’s what I needed to move fairly quickly through 3-starring Brutal (did pull a Valkyrie to help with that, but still).

  8. ArcticF0X

Just to enter the debate about who is the ‘best’ starter champion. First point, everyone’s account is different. Who is a ‘good’ starter for you immediately becomes factored by who else you pulled. So there is no right answer or universally best starter.

There’s a lot out there about Kael’s use in Dragon and Clan Boss, Athel’s use in Fire Knight… this all misses the point. There are plenty of other rares (Frozen Banshee, Coffin Smasher) who will appear quickly and supercede those. Always remember that the principal function of your starter champion is 1) to be your first 6-star, 2) to be your campaign farmer as fast as possible so you can rank up other champs.

Essentially the best thing in Elhain’s favour is she will always outdamage the other three starters. Why?
    – Elhain is the only starter with two AOE (not random) attacks
    – She buffs her own Crit Rate, which is a very hard stat to build early on
    – She doesn’t require accuracy, meaning you can build higher damage and speed
    – She can use an ATK banner instead of ACC

Damage never goes out of fashion. The buffs and debuffs you get from the other starters are weak and get outstripped by other rares you can pull or farm quickly. Elhain will scale with your account, be a better campaign farmer, and you will use her longer into the game.

Should also be mentioned that due to readily available champs (Apothecary, R.Tender, Arbiter?) High Elves is the easiest and first-completed FW for most people. Elhain totally fits into this team right into the end game.

B-tier is too low for her, it feels like ‘groupthink’ to me. Should be A-tier. Not S, she is no Coldheart, but a very very solid A and a great starter champ.

  9. FrodosBeutel

ignore the comment below nevermind, Ninja did 6 Mill Elhain 2 Mill

  10. FrodosBeutel

I use her together with my Ninja in Brutal Clan Boss. She does as much dmg as him (both 3-4M with my current gear (28k Strengh). I don’t think she deserves a 2-Star rating when Ninja has a 5-Star for Clan Boss.

  11. BigSyf

@Mike Smith wtf bruh, your Elhain is a feat!

  12. BigSyf

Elhain is so gear demanding that she is a B, but built right, I think she could contend with any rare or epic, with proper initiative and debuff. If one so desired, they could make an utter beast out of Elhain. Just would take a bit of effort and requirement to play the roulette of stat misalignment on new gear.

  13. Mike Smith

Started with Elhain. Still my best I have as my “Heavy Hitter”. 100% Maxed out over 2 months of playing. She is my lead on every turn and area of the game, especially farming any of the brutal levels and the first couple of Nightmare. No $$ spent on her. Unfortunately I cannot summon – pull any better “hitters” so far on day 143. Set up in Lifesteal and a Speed set. HP = 27114, ATK = 3212, DEF = 1591, SPD = 193, C Rate = 99%, C Dmg = 112%, Resist = 74, ACC = 46. Can’t do any better unless I continue to upgrade % through the Great Hall.

  14. matt

How fast can she brutal farm in retaliation? Reflex? With 2 aoe attacks seems like she should be faster than galek and kael? Would she be better than saurus with one of these sets? Saurus base speed is 83, so it is going to be very hard to speed him up. Looking to get farmer down to 10 to 12 seconds.

  15. Texas_Reaper

I picked her as my starter. Put her in the first epic life steal set I got in campaign as a reward and she kicks serious ass. I still have her in that set, leveled to 16. Currently at 98% crit she does pretty decent damage (@ 103% crit dam.). I have her @ lvl 60, fully booked and mastered. She is the reason I 3 stared campaign through brutal. She also has good speed at 178 so it seems she is constantly attacking and thus constantly healing herself. I’m low mid teir (ftp/low spender) so I haven’t been able to farm better gear for her yet but I’m working on it ! Needless to say she is my current nuker, at least till I get my Royal Huntsman I just got maxed out. I use her in pretty much every area of the game and she does quite well. Surprisingly in clan boss, she is usually the last one to fall ! Worth the effort imho…

  16. pr0f0und

Elhain needs high crit rate to trigger the double hit bonus of A1, giving an effective bonus of 4.4, which isn’t too bad. A2 and A3 are both AoE which is very handy. Her role is a brute force attack, at which she excels. I’m not taking her to 6, as she fades after mid-game, which has been noted by others. Lifesteal and attack, with crit and spd sub-states, produces a fast-hitting glass cannon.

  17. Spinflight

My starter champion and I’ve just maxed her after finally getting a banner from the spiders den.

Though I’ve only just noticed that.. She’s a bit pants. Attack isn’t particularly high, rubbish multipliers etc. Didn’t realise that I had been turning my nose up at champions with higher damage and better multipliers. I suspect the five 5* champs she ate to get to 6* were all quite a bit better overall.

    Ho hum.

  18. Meri j

Got My Elhain not long after I started playing about 6 months ago, Ist 6star etc Kitted out in Lifesteal and Divine Offence Since Plarium have introduced some new characters I am noticing that Elhain seems to be losing out. Can’t they give here a couple of buff/debuus to bring her back up to strength? i’d rather have her on a team that cold heart.
Just seen Hell Hades on Karam. perhaps update the entry?

Love what you are doing here and come on quite often .Thanks for your hard wotk

  19. Polly

    @liam
tysm i put my Elhain in lifesteal gear and my other on in shield so that she won’t die

  20. liam

    @Polly:

It takes more than just a bunch of Elhains. Replacing Arbalester in your squad with pretty much any support would likely be an improvement.

Elhain can make mincemeat of the kids. She and Coldheart were my primary damage dealers on spider. I just demoted her this week when I got Royal Guard (turn meter reduction!) to 60. With full books & masteries, she lasted until level 17. If you need to deal with a crowd, she ain’t bad.

  21. Polly

When I see the fact that Elhain is 5 star spider’s den. I got annoyed because my spider team is 2 Elhain’s a High Khatun a Gala Longbraids and a Arbalester.

    And I’m on Spider 5

  22. LONFUGE

    And I’m on Spider 5

  23. Mikhail

I picked her as my starting champion, and for a long time, could not understand why she’s said to be unviable in late game… Until I actually got to 60s.

She has a ton of plain AoE damage with no gimmicks, but about the only place where you could possibly need this much AoE is Spider dungeon. Maybe also in Fire Knight (due to all attacks being of 2 hits), but Coldheart proved better.

I can see, however, quite a few people who put her into arena as 60, making sure she strikes first and hoping she ends the enemy glass cannons in one shot. Actually worked against me a few times.

  24. Galloglas_Kilt

I generally try to put crit rate gloves and attack% chest on my characters and I’m wondering if it’s generally better to have speed boots or attack% boots? Thanks for the site, I use it frequently!

  25. RaiTheNoblesse

Agree.., love this site (and going thru the characters & stats, gives off this “Fire Emblem” feeling)

  26. Bill

This is exactly what a newbie needs! Thanks for having all of this information in one place.

  27. Sławomir

Divine offense is a good replacement for Offense (extra Shield). I think Elhain is the best campaign farmer out of the starters.

  28. AnotherRaidPlayer

And not to be a nuisance but, is it ok if my Elhain has divine offense and life steal?

  29. AnotherRaidPlayer

Who should I put my full set of purple 4 star relentless gear on? I’m not sure what to do with it

  30. doro626

I am trying to see what they changed on Elhain in the last patch. It says 15% crit on her A2 to ascended skill. Was it without being ascended before? All the starters have this +15%, so I am unclear of the change.

  31. Ayumilove Post author

@123: The sequence does not matter. As long as you have those stats in priority, you’re good to go. You need to have a balance ATK% and C.RATE/C.DMG to deal high amount of damage.

  32. 123

Why does it say ATK% as #1 stat priority, but on gloves it’s recommended C.RATE / C.DMG?

  33. Moriki

I’m running 3 Attack sets on my Elhain (legendary 6* sets all but one piece is finally at 16) and in arena she des damn good,

  34. ThorsHammer269

I have lifesteal as well not super helpful for arena but definitely helps for campaign/dungeons a divine offense set also super helps for dungeons

  35. Scott Allen Lindsey

I have all lifesteal gear on my elhian

  36. Aquadorian

@Marko, Is there any reason why you think it wouldn’t work? (Honest question). “increases the healing . . . this champion receives”; some say “Good if you have a healer or shield champion on your team” etc. I can’t see why you think it might not work for Elhain.

  37. Marko

do rejuvenation mastery work with this champ?

  38. Aquadorian

It was mid-game when I got Elhain, and by that point other champs were handling all areas of the game without need for her, so she sat unloved in the vault for a while. Then along came Faction Wars! Using Elhain purely for Faction Wars, Rejuvenation (+5% received healing and shield) at stage 2 mastery is sensible, I think, instead of Improved Parry for players like me who are using Apothecary in that High Elves team. I’m guessing I’m not the only one 😉

  39. Thomas

Love your channel good information to help out a very new player. Only been playing about a month but can’t put it down.

  40. ShalokShalom

She is in the list for an extra turn

    You probably meant Athel

  41. KeilFX

player lvl46 now, when I chose her as my starting champ I was lucky enough to get a decent set of Lifesteal (with Speed / Atk % / Def / HP as the primary stats) during my runthrough of normal. slapped an Offense set on her and *she carried me through the campaign till Nightmare*.

She was the first champion I got fully ranked, leveled and ascended (with Valkyrie being my only champ fully mastered), and I find it hard to justify *not* putting her on a team for any given situation (besides the Clan Boss, though she can easily help you 1-key the Easy / Normal difficulty CB), and maybe the Fire-Knight Dungeon, though her ~2 hits /p attack is not as bad as many champions. She is indispensible for the Spider Dungeon.

Her power comes from her A2 and A3 both being high damage AoE. During the 3 phases in dungeons stages 1 – 13 she can often 1HKO all five champs in the first two phases with those AoEs (if not weakening them down to where your 4 other champs can clean up) before they have a chance to react. This leaves your team in top shape for the 3rd phase with the Boss + its goons.

I tend toward a Counterattack team (with the aforementioned Valkyrie, or Skullcrusher), so pairing the counter buff with a Lifesteal set makes Elhain impervious to weak attacks (her only vulnerability is a high DPS boss that can just 1HKO her out of nowhere).

Compared to other champs, she only realy cares about a few stats, so you don’t have to worry about balancing her ACC, DEF, HP, or any of that nonsense if you don’t want to. I don’t have as much experience with the other starter champs (besides Kael, who’se a beast in the Arena / CB), but she stands out as the best Campaign + Dungeon farmer of any Rare champion.

  42. Murderwolf

For new players who select her as their champion, I am able to get her through all stages of 12 Brutal in about a minute. Don’t get discouraged if you can’t get through 11 brutal because of the heavy Force affinity in that stage. Just use your other strong champions to help get through it.

For gear I have the 3 star divine offense weapon and shield at level 16. Everything else is life steal 4 star gear. I have a ring, amulet, and banner that I picked up for free either through the daily progression reward or from one of the events.
I only went into the second row of the offense and defense masteries. This can be done with gear that isn’t optimal.

Also, I don’t know if I’m just lucky but it seems really easy to farm rates in Brutal.

@thenewkidd: Thanks for sharing your review on Elhain as it will help others who have her leveled up 🙂

  46. thenewkidd

I have Elhain 6 Starred. (My first 6 star)
    Strenths
    -Clearing Trash.

This means getting up to bosses in dungeons she can really help out.
Clearing Campaign / Soloing Campaign she does a pretty good job. (not a speed farmer by any means, but she gets it doen within 50 seconds to a minute).

Her A1 hits twice if it crits. which getting her crit to 100% is pretty easy to do.
This means she can help out in Fire Knight and Minotaur and Dragon’s Lair.

She Shines best in Spider due to having 2 AOE Skills. (haven’t progressed passed Spider 15, but I have a feeling she falls off anythign further than that).

    Weaknesses.
She can do OK in Clanboss, but out of the Starters the other 3 (Kael, Athel, Galek) all would do way better when it comes to this area of the game. I would give her a “meh” for CB in this area

Because she is Magic. Force keep she does “men” but just like any magic champ, there is definitely a weakness there. The Magic champ I would suggest going in there would be Tayrel 😀
There are great Spirit champs that can do better anyway.

Equiped with Life Steal, and Attack% set.. I pretty much only use her for trash clearing and campaign. (RNG has not been on my side in this game and haven’t pulled anything very good for farming campaign).

If I would take her into Arena, I would replace the Attack set with Speed for sure.

    My two cents.

  47. lotusmonk

    Cheers, much appreciated!

  48. Ayumilove Post author

@lotusmonk: For champions that does not have much buff and debuff, its better to get defense tree so the Attacker champions will not be knockout in Arena or Campaign/Dungeon monsters in 2~3 hits since Attackers are kinda squishy. Currently, my Elhain is using Offense and Defense Mastery Tree. If Elhain has debuff and buff skills, then Support tree is preferable. Elhain only has 1 buff skill which requires a kill to activate, so it does not help much based on my experiences. Usually all Attacker Role Champions will be geared to have 90~100% Critical Rate. I’ll update Drexthar Bloodtwin masteries today 🙂

  49. lotusmonk

Thanks @ayumilove, I was wondering whether the def tree may be more useful for her but I’m just figuring things out. While I have you here, do you have any mastery suggestions for Drexthar?

  50. Ayumilove Post author

@lotusmonk: Thanks for the notice! You are right about Elhain has no skill debuffs, therefore Accuracy stat does not benefit her much. I’ll update the guide right away 🙂

  51. lotusmonk

Just curious – why take the Pinpoint Accuracy mastery, when Elhain has no debuffs on skills?
