Khamir Scald Eye Champion Lore
Khamir was one of the Siroth—worshiping Gloom-Eaters clan, who blinded themselves with boiling tar in order to be closer to the essence of Darkness. He was a disciple of Grugtha Darkseer, and arguably surpassed his mentor in power and cruelty.
Fanatical in his faith, he performed a ritual in which, for each of the civilized species of Teleria, he boiled a sacrificial victim alive in tar, one after another. This act, symbolic of Siroth’s drive to dominate all Teleria, so pleased the God of Darkness that Khamir was given what came to be called his ‘Scald-Eyes,’ a form of magical vision that let Khamir perceive the inner fire of creatures around him.
Simple life—force was faintly visible with this power, but strong emotions, like passion and hate, made living creatures shine like beacons even in total darkness. Hiding from him behind physical barriers was impossible, as was concealing one’s true emotions and desires. Because none could escape this judgmental gaze, Grugtha made Khamir in charge of discipline and inquisition. No Gloom-Eater could conceal their doubts, fears, or even simple lack of enthusiasm from Khamir.
In battle, Khamir manipulated heat and life-force with powers derived from his Scald-Eyes. By influencing body heat and stoking emotions, he could empower allies to great heights of murderous zeal, and even restart stopped hearts to bring the dying back to health. He could also seal gaping wounds with painful but effective cauterization, which he also used on healthy Ogryn to enforce discipline.
