Holguk of the Hallowsights Champion Lore
Holguk of the Lost Isles was born into an Orc clan known for manifesting ‘Hallowsight’, something they believed allowed them to see into a spiritual realm of Orc ancestors. Holguk practiced contacting, summoning, and channeling spirits, under the watchful gaze of his mentor, Tellok.
When Tellok deemed Holguk ready, Tellok told him to practice on his own. At first, Holguk did well, and grew confident. He explored the spirit world, one day coming upon a domain overflowing with grief, rage, sorrow, regret, and longing. Seeking to understand the source of this pain, he dared probe the sinister grounds more deeply with his Hallowsight.
Agony overwhelmed him. Holguk left the spiritworld, having no idea how much time had passed, to find his village filled with corpses, some twisted by magic and others pummeled into a bloody mass. Holguk’s hands were soaked in blood, knuckles swollen and bruised from overuse. He fled in terror, and desperately sought Tellok’s guidance.
Tellok excoriated Holguk for delving too far and losing control of his power. Holguk blamed Tellok for not preparing him for the possibility of such malign influences, and for allowing him to practice in the midst of his friends, family, and clan. Their argument ended in a bitter falling-out and Holguk’s self-imposed exile.
Holguk gathered a following of outcast and dissident Orcs, especially those with the Hallowsight or who had been wronged by Tellok. He heard the tale of Kreela Witch-Arm, a prime example of such an Orc, and resolved to find and recruit her.
