I’m thinking of using him in hydra. but I don’t know whether his passive triggers warmaster or not.
SCARAB KING: I lost a few dozen battle against SK (at floor 100, normal) and i noticed that Balthus was the last to die and could hold his own for about 10-15 rounds before dying. SK’s damage was going down, so I concluded that I did not need any more damage; I just needed to stay alive. I found a ring (from a Clan-vs-Clan victory) that makes him counterattack every time he is hit. I changed the masteries to make them apply to this situation. I removed Warmaster in favor of Unshakeable in the Defense tree. I did this for the 50 RES because his A3 heal is needed and it wouldn’t proc if under Provoke all the time. It took over 30 minutes, but SK went down. Having said all of that, perhaps I could have swapped out 2 of my 3 Resilience sets for a Lifesteal set and solved it simply… maybe. That was my next step if I had failed. I hope this helps someone.
@JTDog: Guardian Set does not proc Balthus Drauglord passive since the damage is absorbed from allies rather from enemies.
Will the guardian set, which “absorbs 10% of all damage dealt to ally Champions. Heals by 10% every turn.” proc balthus passive?
Warmaster no longer procs from his passive, nor does lifesteal trigger from his passive. I used to use him with warmaster and lifesteal, but there must have been a recent nerf. I don’t use him anywhere anymore except for faction wars.
(THIS GUY WAS MY MVP AGAINST GRIFFIN [FLOOR 90 / NORMAL DIFFICULTY!!!] With warmaster and lifesteal, he became the sole reason i could clear that floor.)
To Tboe and anyone else who is curious:
YES. His passive DOES proc warmaster/giantslayer. This seems to help tremendously with (1) his damage output against bosses, and (2) his sustain against bosses (when in lifesteal gear)
Mine has a moderate build: 35k HP | 4.5k DEF | 100% C.R | 110% C.Dam | 210 Acc, and (as I said earlier) he carried my team through floor 90 (normal) Griffin. He did go down once, but was revived and finished the job. I haven’t tested him against all the other bosses, but i can only imagine that the combo of warmaster/lifesteal on his passive will be very powerful against other bosses that reward high-sustain (looking at your scarab)
Build him in lifesteal and give him warmaster. You WONT regret it.
(I do wish i had gotten my C.Dam closer to 150%, but either way he is easy to build and a powerful and sustainy champion to add to your roster.)

(TL/DR) Balthus Drauglord with Warmaster and Lifesteal has become my strongest champion for the new Griffin doomtower boss.
I recently took my Drauglord to lvl 60. I can confirm that his passive DOES proc warmaster/giantslayer. This seems very powerful against bosses (especially while in a Lifesteal set)

He was my MVP for clearing (normal) Floor 90 Griffin in doom tower.
I havent tested him againat all the other bosses, but his sustain and damage from warmaster proccing on his passive is incredible.
Does his passive works under a shield ?
Also what are those multipliers ?? Hits harder than Altan

Can anyone confirm if his passive reflect counts as a “hit” in the sense that it would proc bonuses from sets like lifesteal, stun, sleep, provoke, etc. Also, would has passive count as a hit against FK?
Fun fact : provoke set work on his passive. So when he gets attacked, he can provoke the attackers with enough accuracy
Do u think putting him in Def% gloves and boots and then giving him the selfless defense and Bulwark mastery would work? He should deflect back 30 percent of the damage that he receives.
This guy has the highest defense based multipliers even among legendaries. Even better multipliers than altan and far better than tayrel. Please don’t just look at his kit and ignore his multipliers. This guy is a DAMAGE machine. Also 2 Turn provoke is strong + AOE decrease critrate is underrated.
I really wanted him to be good…Because a duel wielding Sheild wearing bulky armor guy looks amazing. Put a counter attack set on him with provoke? Maybe worth it, idk. Looks cool though
Do you think a provoke set on him would work? He has a AOE A2 and that could work in his advantage due to his passive. Also, the equipment sets dont look to be completed.
What would you think about putting a deflection set on him? It would be one more reason not to attack him.
