Abbess Reference

Arena, Campaign, Clan Boss, Dungeons, Doom Tower, Faction Wars

Below is a reference of the artifacts equipped on Abbess used in all areas of the game. Abbess is equipped with Savage Set and Critical Rate Set to allow her to deal a high amount of damage by ignoring enemy defense with the aid of Savage Set, Helmsmasher (Tier 6 Offense Mastery) and 60% Decrease Defense debuff. These artifacts have high ATK%, C.RATE, C.DMG, SPD and ACC stats. The ATK%, C.RATE and C.DMG allows Abbess to deliver high amount of damage whereas ACC allows her to inflict her debuff on enemies without getting it resisted. SPD is crucial too to allow her to begin the round to inflict her Decrease Defense debuff before her allies perform the AoE nuking. The mastery and equipment setup goes well with Dragon’s Lair Dungeon Speed Run under 1 minute when teaming up Abbess with Seer, Mausoleum Mage, Renegade and a Poison champion.

Abbess Champion Lore

The Eternal Citadel, ancient heart of the Sacred Order, is a kingdom in miniature. The mighty cathedral-fortress rises from the mountains west of Kaerok, a shining beacon to all who seek the blessings of Lumaya or the protection of her warriors. From this unassailable bastion, the Sacred Order runs its affairs on the continent of Anhelt, overseeing the innumerable convents, abbeys, hospitals, garrisons, and chapels that make up its spiritual fiefdoms.

While the day-to-day affairs of the Order are largely handled by the Mother Superiors, and more important matters are left to the oversight of the Canonesses and Cardinals who oversee the internal bureaucracy of the organization, there must be an ultimate authority — a queen for this holy kingdom. Such is the glorious burden of the Abbess.

The first Abbess of the Sacred Order was the head of a convent of nuns sworn to the service of Lumaya during the Age of Hellfire. When the Arbiter put out her call to the faithful, the Abbess was among the first to answer. She convinced her followers to pick up weapons in defense of their goddess and their world. She herself carried a crossbow into battle, and proved to be a deadly markswoman, much to the detriment of many Demonspawn. The nuns of the other convents followed the example, and these warriors inspired by the first Abbess became the first Sister Militants.

Soon after, the Abbess organized the disparate convents into a rough hierarchy, granting herself leadership both on and off the battlefield. Her efforts directly contributed to the formation of the Sacred Order, as the convents came to form the backbone of the new organization.

Later, when Lumaya’s closest servants, the Lightbringers, proved too inflexible to lead the war-effort, it was the successor to the first Abbess, among others, who confronted them with the frustration of their mortal allies. The Lightbringers cared little for anything save direct battle, and their inability effectively organize logistics, and adapt to the changing conditions of the battlefield or the subtle stratagems of the enemy made their leadership a liability in the fight against Siroth.

The Abbess was among those who suggested that the Lightbringers give up control of the nascent Sacred Order, and turn it over to herself and a few trusted others. The Lightbringers agreed to resign their command for the good of the war effort, and in the aftermath of their departure, the Abbess consolidated her powers, and invested her newfound authority in her chosen subordinates.

Soon, all those opposed to her were driven to the fringes of the Order. Some were sent to distant missions or remote chapterhouses, to live out their days far from the Eternal Citadel and Lumaya’s light. Thus was the Order’s future assured.

The current Abbess, Eufemia Corday, is both potentate and supreme diplomat. She acts as a counterpart to the Archbishop of the Church of Lumaya, and it is one of her responsibilities to see to the expansion of the faith, especially in regions such as Velyzar and Gloomdeep Hold – where the Sacred Order’s influence is tenuous at best – by any means necessary.

While the Sacred Order is far from above flexing its military might to achieve its goals, the Abbess will often seek to employ her powers of persuasion as well as her political acumen against any opposition. She is adept at games of influence, playing one side against the other in order to maintain the strength of the Order in the face of its many enemies. Those chosen to take up the mantle of Abbess by the inner council are often selected specifically for their skill in these matters rather than their physical prowess. Despite this, every Abbess, including Corday, is trained in a variety of martial disciplines — including marksmanship. As part of their office, they are bestowed with the same crossbow carried by the first of their number. The ancient weapon has been well maintained over the centuries, and enchanted besides. For many, the right to carry such a weapon is all the proof of Lumaya’s favor they need – an assumption that Corday has used to her advantage more than once.

The amount of love I have for abbess can not be explained! She’s literally one of the greatest arena nukers I have for my account, just build her and you will truly understand the love for her!

I have her in full cruel gear, around 85 crit rate/ 230+ crit damage and a little over 5k attack, focus on attack/crit damage/ attack for the jewelry, she doesn’t need accuracy

  2. JZ

Doesn’t use her a3 on auto, very frustrating because seems like a potentially good champ (not great) especially for higher lvl waves/bosses with high def/atk stats. Guessing with team setup you can get her to use it but still overall makes her way less useable & makes no sense to me why a champ wouldn’t use their aoe a3 on auto.

  3. Jacob

I just need to clarify and request we not only let naming be in each language but also every nationality cause in Australia we call her mummy 😍

  4. Megan

Pedro, if you think she’s a nasty slut – you are the biggest virgin of us all.

  5. bad bed bug

    @Notus15
    You are calculating something wrongly

Imagine that you face a DEF based champion in Doom Tower hard with 10000 DEF.
Placing 60% Decrease defence debuff makes this 4000 DEF that is still a lot.
Then, if you make Abbess (like I have) in savage and with Helmsmasher she will ignore additional 25% from Helmsmasher + 25% from Savage + 30% from A3 (higher defence)=80% of the defence of 4000, so it will mean that she will hit an opponent that have only 800 DEF and imagine how hard that will be 🙂

  6. Notus15

Is ignore def really that good on her? It really only fully applies on her initial Mass Impalement. After that, with DEF Down applied, savage set and helmsmasher only ignore an additional 10% each.

I guess if you’re using her for arena you want to max out her MI damage, but I’m wondering if it’s as effective as Warmaster anywhere else.

@Tom Chapman Barros-Wing: Yeah, it was a typo. You can utilize a Poison champion to tackle the Dragon boss to quickly put it down.

  8. Tom Chapman Barros-Wing

Is the double Seer a typo here?:

“The mastery and equipment setup goes well with Dragon’s Lair Dungeon Speed Run under 1 minute when teaming up Abbess with Seer, Mausoleum Mage, Seer and Renegade” [sic]

If it is, who did you mean to replace that second Seer? (Duchess?)

  9. Pedro

Pulled this nasty ass Slut today. She any good?

  10. SS

Does Savage gear with Ignore DEF reduce the damage from Abbess Divine Wrath skill?

  11. RJ

I’m surprised you didn’t show two options for masteries and have one with warmaster. Having decrease defense on a 3 turn cooldown makes her one of the best options for an aoe decrease defense champs. I built for speed and accuracy first and then crit rate/crit damage/attack and she hits pretty hard without ignoring defense. She has worked great without masteries for a good while now but in doom tower I feel like almost everyone needs to have warmaster or giant slayer to kill the bosses. Now that they nerfed attacks that scale off max hp, warmaster and giant slayer seem more important than ever. Obviously if I think I need warmaster I can go warmaster because nobody’s forcing me but when you list one option for masteries and say it works in every area of the game, it make me think I should try helmsmasher and see if it will actually help with doom tower. Sorry for the rant lol.

  12. True

    @Chris

Yes she is worth it even without books. Books just add minor dmg to his a2 and a3

  13. Chris

Is this character worth leveling up without Books?

  14. dementedlogic

It appears her A3 doesn’t trigger on auto against single targets. She’ll just spam her A1 until Decrease Defense drops off and then she’ll do her A2. Her A3 obviously hits considerably harder, so it’s a bit of a shame.

  15. Casper Gronemann

Why Sniper? It seems completely wasted on this champion?

  16. GΩD ΣΛTΣR

When dragon uses his “Inhale” he’s getting significant ATK boost and her A3 deals increased damage compared to using the same ability outside of this short window of time

  17. Oleg

@Dagon, yes and no. if you ignore attack your a2 will be not powerful and also a3 will not hit any good characters that don’t have much def/atk.

@Simon, don’t hit arena in auto and you are safe 😀 As for dungeons, my abbess still goes through it easily and quickly

@ Lord Bronx, sleep option is removed with ascension of character. And if you want to see overpowered better take a closer look on Trunda 😉

She was my best damage dealer before buff and I love her even more after it 🙂 Now thinking to lower the attack from 5000 to somewhere 3000 and put the set savage on adding more accuracy as well.

  18. Lord Bronx

I think this character’s A3 is ridiculously overpowered. I hope that the sleep buff remains as it is, the only way the average team can stand up to this character in arena is if she misses the occasional turn due to sleep. Only my Drokgul could survive because of extra turns.

  19. Simon

I don’t know if anyone notice but since patch 2.20, Abbess is using her A3 first instead of her A2 on auto. It doesn’t make sense at all. In general her damage got up but her AI make this buff look like a nerf. It takes more time to clear dungeons on auto and my arena team took a hit too

  20. Max Headroom

Have you had a chance to look at her after the 2.2 buffs? Interested how the buff to A3 plays out.

  21. Dagon

If you have 2500 and the opponent has 3500 atk.

Does that mean Abbess would hit with 3500 atk + your crit damage? (Assuming crit rate = 100%)

If that’s the case, you should completely ignore atk and get your crit damage as high as possible.

  22. Navlis

I dont like that when you ascend her her sleep debuff just disappears, i think ist would be way cooler If she gets an extra turn when she gets hit while asleep and maybe guaranteed critical hit but eh

  23. Mejlkop

I`m so unlucky with shars so i dont have Gorgorab, Skullcrown or Arbiter. I maxspeed Shirimani -> Doompriest -> Stag Knight and then A2 Abbess comes. With 280 spped and 220 acc Shirimani freeze 9 times of 10 all enemy team and Mass Impalement annihilate everything. I jumped from 3000 to 3600 arena rating in a row. Still far away from platinum, but w/o speedbuffers it`s impossible.

    6/5 Arena offence for me.

  24. BlackNG89

I am so sorry but I don’t see her value for Spiders?
Yes she has the Def down but thats really all she brings to the table or am I missing something?

  25. hebrard

par contre quand elle lance son courroux divin elle subit un sommeil un bug ? ou c’est normal ?

  26. Dominik

    You have to ascend her

  27. Falstaf

I have Abbess and she has a sleep debuff added Divine Wrath. So every time she casts Divine Wrath she falls asleep and loses one turn. So annoying, is this a bug and is actually supposed to place the debuff on the target and not herself?

  28. Ayumilove Post author

@all: I have added a new Abbess champion guide by MurderInc Raid into this page!

  29. Mr James Watts

Abbess is a monster in Arena, She takes out teams like hot knife through butter.

  30. Oleg

It was my first Legendary, currently the best one. With her A2 she hits very painful and her A3 is a death for tanks with high Defense as “proportional to either this Champion’s ATK or the target’s DEF or ATK stat, whichever is highest.”
With current 3800 ATT and 173% Crit Damage (which can be better) she often oneshots the whole team herself especially with Inc Att support by Seeker.
And moreover her basic Defense stat is pretty high so she survives well.
She does great for me in Arena, she is my farmer in 12-6, she cleans dungeons (especially first turns)

  31. GoTo

Interesting, she’s guarding my vault right now. I will gear her and see how she performs, thanks!

  32. Ayumilove Post author

@GoTo: Her AoE attacks from A2 and A3 hits like a truck in Arena, Campaign, Dungeons and Faction Wars. Build her with heavy Critical Damage and Critical Rate and you will see her 1 shot KO enemies when your first champion lays down the Weaken and/or Decrease Defense debuff.

  33. GoTo

May I ask why Abbess is max stars for both Arena teams? Her chance to apply decrease defense is so low…
